[Completed] [Q] where can i find mod/tweaks ? - XDA Assist

hi guys i'm pretty new to android, i've switched from ios lately.
And my question is that on ios when we jailbreak our iPhones we have something called Cydia where we can install all the crazy stuff (system tweaks, apps that can't be published on the appstore, themes, and a lot of other things).
So i was wondering where can i find something similar to that on android. Is there an app or a list or a thread on xda where can i read the tweak description and install it?
thanks in advance

First of all, welcome to the Android world. In order to better assist you a bit more information is needed. What Device ? What Android version ? What Recovery ? What carrier ? Rooted / Non-Rooted ?

my phone is sony xperia z2 running kitkat 4.4.2 and it's unlocked.
it is not rooted and i haven't installed a custom recovery yet but if i need to do so i don't have a problem.
thanks for the welcome.

The links below should get you going in the right direction. The first link is more of a General get to know Android terms, and such. The second is on how to Flash a Rom, and Root. Again general info. The last two are the Specific Forum for your device, and the Section to look for Roms. I would highly advice spending some time reading, and acquainting yourself with the processes, and terminology before proceeding. Best of luck .

Sony Xperia Rooting?

Hey Guys,
I'm new to rooting phones so here goes: I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc (LT15i) that comes stock with Android 2.3 GB. Without thinking I would need root access, I did a manual flash to Android ICS 4.0.4. It's working great and everything but now I need to have root access for certain applications that requires it some of which is Avast! Anti-Virus and Firewall.
I have read through some of the forums and it's quite confusing for a first-timer trying to get answers on how to root this phone. As I have come to learn, the version I have is not rootable (4.1.B.0.431) - standard/original Sony issue. Is there someone who is running ICS 4.0.4 on their Xperia Arc that has successfully rooted their phone? If so, how exactly did you do it? Links to the ROM's required would be much appreciated as well as detailed instructions (remember I'm new to this).
If I violated any rules by placing this question in the wrong forum topic, my apologies.

It doesn't seem very stable. Not something I want to risk n my daily driver or am I paranoid?
No, this rom is in development that's wahy it seems not really stable.
The best you can do it's to go to both of Z1 Android Development and Z1 Original Android Development, read and choose one of these roms.
I cannot tell you if this rom is best than the other, because you must read, and read before to select and try a rom
Don't forget you need to read with attention my second link which is really important for rooting your device etc... and don't ne afraid, it's easy :good:

Also, what's the difference between the rooting and cyanogenmod. I have seen rooting before but never really seemed good, I've seen cyanogenmod before but now I'm confused between the two
You need to be root if you want to flash a custom rom like cyanogen rom.
If you, want to know more about cyanogen go here => http://www.cyanogenmod.org

[Q] Rooting Xperia S LT26i

Hello Folks,
I'm kinda new to the whole device developing stuff. Though I hail from a Electronics bachelors I wish to experiment with my mobile. It would be great if any one can guide me through the basics of rooting a device and in my case help me root my device: Sony Xperia S. My phone is totally sluggish in it's performance and I do not have an idea of shelling out cash for another mobile, So, came up with the idea of rooting it.
A step-by-step guide would be helpful for rookies like me.
Thanks in advance for any tips, tutorials or guidance offered.
Hi,
The rooting method depends on which firmware version you are currently on. You can find out how to root on the Xperia S section in the XDA Forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-s/s-development). One of the methods is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327473.
Once you are rooted it does not change the performance though. You will have to take steps using apps made for rooted phones like removing bloatware, tweaking your CPU, or if you're up to it then installing a faster custom rom.
I suggest to read up on and try installing a custom rom. I have an Xperia SL and I'm using this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393889) which is actually made for the Xperia S and I think it is really good, gives my phone better performance, has good features and is nice looking.

[Completed] IOS 7/8 for Samsung

Hi guys,
I've got rooted SGS III Neo and I've installed custom ROM - newest android 5.0 lollipop.
I'm just curious if there's any chance for installing the custom IOS ROM.
I wanna install this, but I don't know where to search, and how to do this.
Maybe you can help me.
Thanks
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Unfortunately such a thing doesn't exist, porting iOS across to an Android device is an extremely difficult task (read: virtually impossible) so most developers wouldn't be bothered with it. Plus, most people buy Android devices because they prefer the Android OS.
Thread closed, thanks.

[Completed] Need help with Xperia SP

Hello
I have a Sony Xperia SP.
C5302
Android Version 4.3
Build Number 12.1.A.1.205
I have not rooted or unlocked bootloader or anything.
Its been over a year now since i bought it so the warranty is over.
My phone lags a lot although i have just a couple of apps in it.
I want to try a new rom with better ram management ,better battery performance and it should be smooth.
I dont have any experience in rooting or roms or any other stuff.
Please suggest some roms for my phone also guide to the basic rooting and unlocking bootloader article or thread.
I also read something about losing Bravia Engine ,DRM keys, Gracenote integration if i root or unlock my bootloader.I'd like to know more about it.
Requirements for a rom:
Smooth performance
Better battery
Better ram management
Thanks in advance.
