[Q] Bricked Nexus 5? :( Need your help guys - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, ( Newbie here)
Pardon me if something similar has already been posted before. I have major issues with my Nexus 5 which gave up on me a day back.
THe phone wont boot up and is stuck at the google logo.
I went through a few troubleshooting steps with the google technicians. We tried recovering it but that didn't work either, nor a hard reset. I dont see the dead android show up after which i can wipe the entire data and do a factory reset.
The USB Debugging feature on my phone was switched off so now if i try to unlock the bootloader using adb i can't. It says erasing but does nothing. I waited for about 25min and gave up on that.
I downloaded the stock android OS from the google website and also have adb and all the drivers installed.
Is there anyway i can get this thing up and running again? Anything at all?
Please help

fastbooting
Well the only thing I can come up with is to boot your phone into fastboot. First turn off your phone then press the power+volume down or power+volup+voldwn and then there should be a screen with an android laying on its back. If you can get that far well continue but if you can't then you can send in your phone

Sounds like you're trying to use adb commands when you should be using fastboot commands

I tried doing that but the recovery mode wont work. I only see a blank screen when i try to get into recovery mode. I dont care about my data anymore. I just hope for the phone to come back alive. How i wish the usb debugging was on

Usb debugging is irrelevant when the phone is off. If you hard power the phone off by holding power button for like 10 secs, try holding just volume down while powering up

After that i saw
erasing. . .
Which went on for more than 25min and more. So i had to abort.

Could that void the warranty of my phone? I need the .dll file and the ROM or firmware whatever they call it for Nexus 5 32gb ( lg d820) I have downloaded the lg flash tool.

It could not void your warranty. This is how LG would reflash your phone. You will find lg flashtool, dll for D820 and the firmware for D820 32Gb in my lg flashtool thread. You have to use the converted firmware. Dont worry about that it is converted. It was tested by numerous people and never got any negative response.

3. Firmware for D820 32gb NExus 5 (converted firmware )
Now i have to figure out how to use them

Yes, but you dont have to figure out anything . I have already figured out and made a thread about it. Just check my signature about LG flashtool. You will find the guide there.

Worst case scenario is that LG flashtool will stop with Erase command failed error. Google will replace your phone does not matter what happen.

You dont have to install anything to your phone. If lg flashtool will be successful then your phone will be like that when you first turned it on.

The converted one says USE AT OWN RISK . Why so ? I will have to download the 32GB one right? One more question.. what are TOT's ? or TOT file? And there are 2 files inside the 32 GB one.. Which one should i download? The first or the 2nd?
THanks

I should remove the use at your own risk message since it have been confirmed that they dont do any trouble. Tot is the file format of the LG's firmware file format.

LG VS840 Help!!

Got a bit of a problem.... I flashed a ROM onto my phone (forgot to back up, that's my big issue) It said it flashed just fine. Went to start up, just ran the lg logo for about 30 mins. Decided to try re-flashing it. Made sure to wipe everything. Nothing, still have the same issue. Tried to get back into CWM, but its gone now. Tried doing emergency download software, now its stuck on the screen "Download is in progress, do not disconnect cable." Im stuck. I dont know what else to do. I've tried the LG Support Tool, but it says to use Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant, which I can't get because I can't find a download for it and I cant get it from my phone.
I have the stock ROM image, but I have no clue how to install it without CWM or something. Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I needs my phone...

they said to use Upgrade Assistant that means you never told them about the truth: phone is not booting....big mistake or let me understand that:Upgrade Assistant works when your phone is in download mode ?!
what is that rom you tried to flash surely was for your phone ?
also you have stock rom this is a .zip file or what format?
can you enter fastboot mode ?

Um... Let's see... The LG Support Tool which in most cases you can use to return your phone to stock comes up with a message saying "Upgrade tool is preinstalled in your phone. Please allow to install "Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant" when the phone is being connected to the PC". That's what the tool tells me.
The ROM I tried to flash was BrokenOutConnect v1.0. Its for the LG Connect, which is almost the same phone, and some one said it would be ok to flash it.
The stock ROM is in an .img file, so I need to figure out how to install from that
And I have no idea how to enter fast boot (unless your referring to the vol up+down + pwr, in which case, that doesn't work.
Sorry, can't post the original page for the ROM, I'm too new lol

I think was a bad idea to flash that rom because is not exactly made for your phone one can damage a phone in this way never do like that !
about your stock rom...maybe this is a backup made by stock recovery ? do you have a recovery.img file in that update ? there is a single img file in that stock rom or more files ?

No I do not... I actually just found that stock image on another forum. File is called LG_Lucid_VS840_4g_system.img . I realize that was a horrible idea... Google kinda led me astray on that one lol. but do you have a backup of your current rom on your sdcard ? It's made by stock recovery if so search for a file named recovery.img
here is the link to your phone check if this is really your phone also download usb drivers and software to update it from LG site
install USB drivers then download and run LG Mobile Support Tool this will connect to LG site download files and finally will request to connect phone to PC then will make update

G3 Bricked/Boot Loop

So I read other threads with similar issues but nothings seemed to work.
Basically my LG G3 (AT&T) started acting odd one day. Resetting every 3-5 minutes, overheating (more than usual), wouldn't connect to Wi-Fi. Eventually I reset it and the problems got worse. I downloaded a boot logger that can't figure out why, there's no physical damage (EDIT: when this first started, I noticed that the little pink water damage sticker on the battery was, well pink, however I never got it wet and could've been pink before but I don't know), I factory reset it again and nothing, swapped the battery and everything. I could've done more but it is still under warranty so I kinda gave up and decided to exchange it.
The new one is on the way and comes tomorrow or Wednesday however now my G3 won't even turn on, or rather it stays locked on the boot screen (the LG logo specifically) it won't go past that. I tried to hard reset it with the power button and it gets to the screen with the android logo with its chest open and just resets again.
I'm not trying to fix it anymore I just want advice on wiping it basically as I can't even wipe it through my computer. With my last phone what I did before selling it, and what I wanted to do again, is encrypt it, then factory reset to just be extra safe and I wanna know if there's anyway I can do this basically with the phone like this, or if I can get it to a state where I can do that again. I'm not all too familiar with android this low level so I want to know if I can basically "hard" wipe it because I can't even connect it to my computer (it keeps resetting).
Also one time on a boot it said the kernel crashed, don't know how relevant that is as it only happened once out of at least 1,000 times by this point.
Any help would be appreciated, super frustrated right now.
Thank you!

So I'm going through the tot method, however when I plug the phone in I get an error that "Windows malfunctioned the last time the device was plugged in" I plugged it in last night to see if I could do anything and it kept resetting. But in device manager it just shows up as an unknown USB device and there is now no ports section.

Wait. What are you trying to do? Why are you needing to flash it if you haven't already voided your warranty? Rooting/Custom rom "voids warranty" in itself.
Flash a tot or kdz puts the phone 100% complete back to stock as you bought it.

What's the reason it's stuck on the logo? Did you do something like attempt root or anything?
If you haven't done anything to cause it did you try performing a factory reset?
It could be a hardware issue or battery problem if you didn't do anything to cause the stuck on LG logo problem.

So with the phone off you've tired holding down vol up and power or vol down and power to attempt to factory reset? Your phone doesn't need to boot into the OS to factory reset it...
Also normally this doesn't happen unless it's a hardware issue since you didn't do anything to cause it.
Was the device running MM? If so you need to use LGUP. Lg flashtools 2014 won't work if your running MM 6.0.
Just check out the general section there's a back to stock guide with links to firmwares.

Yes. Just place your phone in download mode.
If your phone still does the same after flashing it's either your battery or a hardware failure.

Just search the forum and YouTube for lg g flex 2 bootloop and you'll see. I was in the same situation as well and that helped. I replaced it multiple times and I even baked the motherboard in the oven. Just the battery was the issue and thank God nothing worse. And the battery is like 10$ so not too much. Hope you fix it.

HELP!!!!!! Locked bootloader after flashing a kernel and it doesn't want to boot

Hi guys
As you probably know by reading the title, i completely messed up. I was on the stock google factory image and decided to flash a custom kernel. I enabled usb debuging and oem unlock. after having unlocked the bootloader, I installed the twrp boot img and then flashed the kernel. All was well when i stupidly decided to lock my bootloader. Things crashed and now when i try to boot into my phone, the google logo appears and 1 seconds later crashes keeps doing it until i turn my phone off. My bootloader is locked and i think usb debuging and oem unlock are also disabled.
The same thing happens when i try to go to the recovery, it just crashes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. thank you !!

I feel bad for you. However, you bricked your Pixel.
As I mentioned yesterday, contact Google for an RMA replacement.

I don't believe so since you're not the original owner. However, it doesn't hurt to try.
If you bl locked the phone w modified software ur boned. I believe that RMA availability is transferrable from owner to owner, however, I also believe that they will refuse to RMA a phone which technically broke because AVB is doing its job properly. You can try but I'd say your chances are slim. Sorry mate. Also future reference: if you don't have any reason in particular to relock your phone, just don't. You'll save yourself the hassle of having to do it again and it wiping the phone everytime any software thing goes wrong or anytime u want to upgrade custom ROM or kernel or anything of the sort. This goes for any phone not just those with android verified boot.

Yes they will know but they have proprietary software to forcefully unlock/reformat the phone properly if they so choose to actually accept the phone

If you are flashing the latest version of Oreo you don't need to oem unlock. What version of Android were you running before you bricked it?

Pixel 5 Bricked

Hello all,
I did a big mistake, I wanted to go back from DP 3 to Android 11 and once I was going to do the CMD steps, I downloaded the wrong Firmware for the Pixel 5
I didnt see that mistake until I started the steps and the phone turned off and did not turn on anymore.
I know I made a big mistake, but can I do to revert this? I try to restart the phone but nothing, not via power button for 10 or 20 or 30 sec.
Please help

So you used a firmware that was older or one that was for a different device?
Is the bootloader unlocked?
What exactly did you download?
Does the phone charge?

I used the firmware of pixel 4a 5g and I wanted to go from DP3 to android 11.
I cannot see the phone charging . I try long press in any of the buttons and different combinations and nothing. Zero signs of life

Mine bricked about a month ago and Google suggested uBreakiFix. They tried to do a force flash on it but it didn't work. They ended up replacing the motherboard which fixed it, but now my proximity sensor is always on. I don't know if they can fix that or if it will require another motherboard.
I have same problem, but i can go to bootloader. The problem my phone is locked bootloader and i don't have recovery mode. And when i try to flash it because of locked bootloader i can't do anything. Is there any solution for unbrick locked bootloader?

Did you use any special way to even turn on the phone or reach the bootloader?

I did everything, unfortunately my bootloader is locked and that's problem. With locked bootloader i can't do anything. I had same problems with other phones before and i could unbrick. But for pixel devices i can't find some tool to unbrick.

how did you end up with it like that with bootloader locked? what caused it?
I have the same issue like p_a_r_s_a7 with my Pixel 5.
Only fastboot mode: can't find valid operating system
After flashing the 'right' OTA image for Android 12 DP3 the device cannot be restored anymore.
The image was successfully flashed by 'adb sideload' as recommended.
Seems that a locked bootloader is not 100% save from 'flashed to death'
600 EURO paperwight.
I had this same issue on my 4a 5g and after many hours I managed to fix it. I don't recall exactly but I went through every option of flashing stock via fastboot and android flash tool it eventually worked this was 2 months ago

Android flash tool immediately detect the locked bootloader and stopped without flashing.
I've tried to check/uncheck every option but no luck. I've used Windows 10.
Did you used the common USB driver requested by Android flash tool ?
Anything else that could be special, eg Linux environment ( what distro, version .. )
Any detail could help..

Windows 10 laptop, adb minimal drivers, made sure device was detected, attempted through fastboot and android flash tool, that's the only things I remember my apologies.
