[Help] Flashing ViperSV_1.5.0 on my HTC ONE SV - HTC One SV

So in order this is how i Flash the ViperSV_1.5.0 Rom
1.Go into recovery (TWRP) go to Wipe do a factory reset and then go to advance Wipe Check all the boxes and Wipe.
2. I then go to Mount then Mount USB Storage and place the ViperSV_1.5.0.zip on my SD
3. I the go to install i select ViperSV_1.5.0.zip
4.The setting i choose Perform a full wipe, I don't select DeSense mod, I don't remove any apps and don't select keyboard.
5. The flash starts Its Checks Model ID(Success), It executes Full wipe , Says writing data the writing system, at writing system its stops at 83.00% (Extract:/system/media../weather_fog_night.mp4)
Sometimes its stops at different weather files but has never gone past 83.00%
I went to sleep and when i woke up it was stuck on the TWRP recovery loading screen so i took out the battery and tried a reboot but it just went to the quietly brilliant screen and stuck there, im guessing because the ROM didn't flash correctly and there isn't an OS
Please if you have a fix or think there is a fix reply i need of help

Will this get me back to stock rom if Flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734434
I have boost mobile

SO i go t back to stock but the WIfi dosent work is there a link to a ota for stock

Your phone is from boost and you tried to flash vipersv?
There are different partition layouts between european and boost roms. So it seems, it has some firmware parts overwritten.

Is there a way to fix the Wifi Problem

I don't really know, because i don't know what partitions are overwritten.
Maybe a RUU would help you.
But i guess you need to downgrade hboot first. And therefor you need S-Off.

Is there somthing i can do to help

From my side i can't do much. Try to get S-off. If you succeed, the first step is done.

How to completely wipe phone

Alright, I want to start fresh. By starting fresh I mean, not just wiping the phone in recovery or using SuperWipe.zip
I want to completely wipe the phone to original manufactor settings and then go ahead and root the phone and then s-off that way. How would I go ahead and do this? 1.45ruu? I am a T-Mobile USA user so I don't know how that would work.
Also when using a ruu to wipe the phone, would that revert me back to my old radio/hboot/recovery?
Because I have the latest radio on here, I don't want that to mess anything up.
THANKS

Run the 1.29 RUU, there is no 1.45ruu for T-Mobile
This will revert EVERYTHING back to stock, radio, hboot, recovery.
When that's done, boot the phone up, login, and check updates and get the latest 1.45 OTA, apply it (this will update your stock firmware to 2.3.4 and update to latest tmobile radio (10.14).
Now you're stock with the latest official updates. If you want to root/rom/etc:
When that's done, run Revolutionary (if you're already s-off, running the ruu reverts it back to a normal hboot, so you still need to run revolutionary to be able to do more advance hboot commands).
When that's done, install recovery, then if all you want to root, flash the su root zip file in recovery, if you want to flash a rom, wipe data/cache, then flash the rom.
you're done.

DEV help, or experienced tweakers (MIUI, CleanROM)

Trying various ROMs before i decide on one to get settled in to.
1. MIUI 2012.09.14
- flashed ok, rebooted, stuck on startup animation doesnt boot.
(downloading 2012.09.29)
2. CleanROM
- flashed ok, rebooted ok, error; "com.android.phone has stopped working" before i get past lock screen.
This happens another 2 - 4 times while im trying to get thru phone setup.
Before eventually it boots back to startup animation, and repeats the process.
3. CNA
- flashed ok, rebooted ok, loaded semi ok before multiple errors;
Unfortunately phone has stopped.
Messaging has stopped.
System UI has stopped working.
Any ideas? I was kinda keen to see all of of these ROMs operate.

1) you must be on newer hboot and need to flash boot.IMG via fast boot manually.
2) you need to do a factory data reset then reflash.
3) Same as number 2.

Cheers bud, awesome.
The steps only said wipe, and someone had told me factory reset only works on stock ROM?
Incorrect?
And forgive my ignorance, hboot?
Ok heres where im at;
- reset to bootloader
- factory reset
- booted to twrp
- wipe system (not sdcard)
- install (no roms, no backup of stock - sdcard is wiped)
kinda panicked a little.
- mounted as usb
- copied roms from laptop back to sdcard
- install (still no roms)
getting more panicked.
- create partition intending to copy roms over again
- roms mysteriously just appear on sdcard after partition created
- installed cna, had one error of unfortunately system ui has stopped working, but no reoccurence.
Never factory reset or clear storage or any of that in hboot. You were supposed to factory reset in twrp. Factory reset in twrp clears data, cache, dalvik it does not wipe your storage.
All of those must of been dirty flashes ...just USB mount in twrp. And copy a rom over

****. Thanks.
The partition i created to backup and hold roms was 2gb.
In file manager & when mounted as usb i can see the files i copied over as well as the standard sdcard folders.
But i cant see any evidence of a partition.
Only when i check my available space my total sdcard is now 24gb.
Can u help me understand also how i couldnt see the copied files until i created the partition in recovery?
I did some bootloader wipes and recovery wipes, ended up messing up storage bad. Had to ruu in the end.

Ok i searched and downloaded the RUU based on my hboot info;
- RUU Evita UL Telstra WWE 1.89. 841.9 Radio 0.18c.32.09.01 10.9 3a.32.20L release 266699 signed .exe
Just in case i've left anything out or anyone wants to jump in, this is the story;
Brand new stock Telstra HTC One XL (Australia)
Unlocked & rooted, TWRP recovery.
Backed up stock.
Installed a few different ROMs before deciding on one.
Accidentally reset factory from hboot instead of twrp.
Lost stock ROM back up.
Mounted USB & copied custom ROMs back across to sdcard.
Files did not appear on sdcard.
Decided to partition and try again.
On sucessful partition, suddenly all files became visible, despite partition warning "all files will be deleted"
Flashed Viper XL successfully.
SDcard total storage reading as 24gb (32gb stock)
1. if i have done anything to reduce my available storage i want to get it back.
2. id like to go back to stock rom and basically start from scratch with clean stock backup and clean storage.
I found a link to the ATT One X stock rom on the US HTC support site.
I cant find anything similar on the AU site for the One XL.
On the xda thread the link was located on, i read that i have to re-lock my bootloader, thats fine theres a tutoriall, but i need to find the stock rom.
That tutorial however didnt mention anything about RUU.
Will ruu enable me to do this internally?
Thanks in advance.
All sorted, RUU is at 15% thx for the help.
There is a 1.89 being hosted in the football ruu collection and other places if you havent found it already, dont run the at&t 2.20 ruu.

[Q] ViperOneS 2.2.0 OTA

Hey guys, since my post count is too low to post my problems with this OTA update in the development section of this rom, ill do it here. Sorry for that.
I think im having no problems with flashing the 2.1. ROM yet but i have my concerns if i did that right.
First problem with flashing it, is the question if im having a custom kernel. I flashed ViperOneS a several times but made a fullwipe before.
So am i having a custom kernel or not?
Next issue is that im only able to flash this ROM with CWM. TWRP 2.5 doesnt work and even 2.3.3.0, which should work, but does not for me...
Well with CWM i ll do it that way:
1. Doing Fullwipe in CWM (Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik and System).
2. Flashing the ROM and choosing HTC Theme > Custom Kernel? > not sure sometimes "yes" sometimes "no".
3. Flash finished? > asks me if i want to reboot (into system) or save the logs. Since the instruction tells me to flash the boot.img first before rebooting...
4. ... im going into bootloader via adb which works
5. flash the boot.img
6. fastboot erase cache
7. reboot system
8. before doing the first setup i go into recovery and wipe cache.
I think 2.1 works but i want to be sure if i did everything right, especially with the custom kernel question and that i reboot into bootloader right after aroma says that the flash is finished.
Now i want to flash the 2.2.0 OTA because the update function through the ROM didnt work for me last time (it downloads the OTA but wasnt able to flash)
Im not sure how to flash the OTA right via recovery. Everytime i did that the ROM was kinda messed up, like when im turning the screen off and on Sense keeps loading and it takes some sec to unlock. And the venom tweaks app is totally laggy, even with the "trick" to go into app settings and wipe the cache and data which found on any other site (not xda...).
The problem is that they dont keep their instructions up-to-date (+ how to flash the OTA... right)
It looks to my like there are 100 different ways to flash 2.1.0 and 2.2.0 and only 1 is the right way which lets the ROM being amazing...
Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance!

All you have to do ist to flash the OTA with your custom recovery like any other flashable zip if this isn't done automatically. You can simply copy it to your device from your pc or flash it from your mobiles download folder, it doesn't matter which way.
The 'trick' is very well known here at xda, but simply nobody wants to repeat it a hundred times... Here at xda there is even included the fact, that after rebooting you should change your skin once to get things going besides wiping cache and data in venom tweaks and hub.
What EXACTLY doesn't work with TWRP 2.3.3.0?

yea i did it like that. i just flashed it in the recovery, but im not sure if i have to wipe caches after or before doing that.

about finding such "tricks": the problem is that those ROM release threads have tons of post (500+ sites of them) and it seems like 90% are from people who didnt even flash the ROM... i think you ll excuse me if i say i got tired of searching for my problems there^^
well can u tell me which skin i have to change? on venom tweaks or the htc skin on personalization? and app settings > venom tweaks > wipe cache and data right?

when i flash it with 2.3.3.0 (or 2.5... its the same), the flash process doesnt even take up to 2 seconds and it says its finished and that causes a bootloop but doesnt make me wonder.
dont you have problems with TWRP flashing sense roms either?
ah and another one: did i flash the version 2.1 right and what about the custom kernel question?
well thanks for ur time.
edit: well this time flashing with twrp 2.3.3.0 worked somehow, but i choosed flashing without wipe (made it in recovery) and not to delete apps with aroma installer (which i did before)... just strange.
new problem. dont know whats wrong with my phone but:
wanted to make a backup of my ViperOneS 2.1 with TWRP 2.3.3.0 after lets say 70% of progress it starts turning off my phone and restarts into system. i flashed 2.5.0.0 but its the same issue (edit#1: with CWM too...). strange is that TWRP turned out my phone before when i wiped something there.
i think somethings really messed up atm...
edit#2: had to run a ruu over the system again, flashed twrp and backups seem work again..strange ****

[Q] ViperS 3.1.2 + Sensation XE

Hi.
I want to switch to ViperS 3.1.2 but have few questions before I do so. I've never done it before so I'm new to this.
Does it come rooted (or do all ROMs come rooted)?
Is there any instruction on how to do it or just flash it from .zip via the recovery mode (I have CWM 5.x.x installed already)?
And are there any bugs with it such as Wi-Fi problems/tethering, or calls (speaker)?
Also, what if something goes wrong? I've got a backup of my current ROM (stock), so do I just flash that one back or try ViperS' in case it was a mistake on my side?
Lastly, I've heard some people mentioning OTA updates. I'm assuming it's done in the same way as stock ROMs, so you just need Wi-Fi/working internet and the new update will install on its own, or do I have to download the update from here and then do it myself?
Thanks!

Are you S-Off or S-On? If S-Off then you can flash the zip directly from recovery and if you're S-On then you gotta flash 4EXT recovery first and enable smart flash feature and then flash the zip file.
There are no major bugs in the Rom except the ones listed on the OP of the official thread. Enjoy flashing.

I'm S-Off. I've had root earlier but I've installed SuperSU and accidentally pressed Clean SU which has pretty much wiped it. :|
Post your bootloader details to make things more clearer. Flashing a custom Rom doesn't need root access. You can flash it as you're s-off.
What Rom you're using currently? What firmware?

So, just wanna know now - do ROMs come rooted, and if I can always go back to stock ROM as long as I have the boot.img/download stock ROM from HTC site?

Most roms come rooted, and the rest provide root tools so you have a choice while flashing.
To return to stock look up ruu. An ruu + s on = your device as it came.
If you had flashed Firmware-3.33 before the ROM - you would have had no "bootloops" at all! The most important thing is to have Firmware-3.33

If you made a backup before flashing you should restore it, or else flash the ROM you had before flashing.
Then use "Titanium Backup" and back up your messages (your contacts are automatically synced with your google account, unless you saved them on the phone, but you can change that with the "people" app.
after you backed your phone up, make a full wipe, and flash the new ROM. Install Titanium Backup and restore your messages backup.
Good luck.

Oh no, I thought you wanted to flash viperS. Flash the ROM you had before flashing, whichever ROM that was (but flash that specific ROM, not a different one. My advice from the previous comment was if you came from stock ROM). If you flash the same ROM you don't have to wipe, and then you can back up your phone.

I hope you can operate adb, because the solution I found requires it.
Go to recovery, and use adbto pull the contacts database with the following command:
adb pull data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db
It might give an error for a protected directory (but I don't know since it's going to be done in recovery), if that happens, use 'adb shell' and then 'su'. then exit, and you have root access to the device (do it only if required).
Once you obtained the file, it should be on your adb folder. you need to open it with a database app which supports SQLite3 (I won't reccomend anyrhing since I've never used them. but from a quick search I found a few. and searching in the context of reading android databases would give some recommendations.).
Good luck
p.s - It's hard for me to believe this is the simplest solution. It might work, but it's not easy. So others might give better solutions.

Having trouble fixing softbrick after attempting to root A9

On an HTC One A9 updated to 1.55.617.4 via OTA. CID = BS_US001. I unlocked the phone (i still have S-Off), installed TWRP, and then tried to root it. Like a fool, I didn't back up first. Something went wrong and I can't boot, I just get stuck at the HTC logo bootsplash. I have tried using the RUU tool to reset the phone to version 1.12.617.6 (both unlocked and relocked) without success. I tried to restore a TWRP backup from this thread but TWRP doesn't see it on my SD card.
Am I missing something? Do I need S-Off? Are there stock images somewhere I can use? I'm striking out so far and I could really use some help.

Had some trouble myself but this is how I solved it.
•Get the 1.12.617.6 ruu.exe and flash that.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html#unlocked
•After you boot up and set-up, take the system update to 6.0.1 and then flash twrp.
• Boot into twrp and then factory reset your device.
•Download the latest SuperSU beta from it's respected thread and flash that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu
•(optional) Download the latest open gapps pico for 6.0 arm64 (if you like less bloat)
http://opengapps.org/
•(optional) Install the stock marshmallow boot animation (make sure to get the 1080p flashable zip)

My bad. Just read that you already used the ruu program. Is your mid correct?(2PQ912000) and you are in fact S-Off?
If that doesn't work maybe try using htc fastboot with the extracted zip for BS_US001 from the ruu thread.

I misspoke, I'm S-On. Is the RUU supposed to be able to overwrite a newer version (ie overwrite 1.55 with 1.12)? I have been trying to flash using RUU with USB passthrough to a windows virtual machine, but I guess I should try with a native install and see if that works.
If I'm S-On, will flashing with htc_fastboot still work?

Try flashing the 1.55.617.4 stock rooted ROM I posted here in TWRP. Make sure you wipe everything prior to flashing.
You can't RUU with S-On unless you have the stock recovery flashed. Head over to the resource page and flash the stock recovery via fastboot.
Then you can RUU.
Can't say this enough around here, S-Off/Unlock the bootloader should be the first thing people do that are going to fool around with ROMS. Sunshine is worth the $25.
You can RUU all day/night with S-Off, you don't need to relock bootloader or anything, any recovery can be installed, the RUU will always get you back to ground zero again.
After that, if you want to go up to 6.0.1, there are a few things mentioned above you need to do.
You either have to do a basic setup after the 6.0.0 RUU, take the 6.0.1 1.55 update. You can boot and do a basic setup, but you need to TWRP recovery, Format Data, then Run/Install SU Beta 2.65 from TWRP, then reboot again and start your setup over from scratch since Data is gone, plus no more encryption on your phone.
Really it is a matter of just a few steps to re-root the phone...but you have to be S-Off to make it easy.

RUU wipes whatever recovery you have and replaces it with stock, so no, you don't have to be on stock recovery to run an RUU.
The user has already updated to 1.55 via OTA, which means, because the user is S-ON, that they CANNOT RUU back down to 1.12, because the OS version is older.
The one thing you did state correctly is that S-OFF with SunShine would make all of this much easier. However if a corrupt system or boot is the only issue, flashing the ROM I linked is a simple and easy solution to get back up and running.
I'll try flashing the system image tonight to see if I can get it working. Next time, I'm not going to forget to S-Off and Nandroid backup first. And yes, to confirm through my own experience, I cannot use RUU since I upgraded OTA to a newer version that the RUU has regardless of recovery version.

Sorry, that's what I meant. I don't do a lot of phone mods so I'm probably misusing some vocab (not to mention, I'm only now beginning to understand the many terms). I am going to try the ROM you posted. Just to clarify the process, I should do the following, correct?
1. Reunlock Device
2. Reflash TWRP recovery
3. run "fastboot erase system"
4. run "fastboot erase boot"
5. Drop the zip file on my SD card without extracting
6. Flash the ROM from the SD card via http colonslashslash highonandroid.com/android-roms/how-to-install-custom-rom-using-twrp-recovery-failproof-method/ (sorry, forum won't let me post links yet)
Questions
1. Do I have to use htc_fastboot for any part of this process? I've been loading TWRP with the regular fastboot since I usually run on a Mac.
2. Are there other partitions that need formatting?

Regarding your steps:
1. yes
2. yes
3. no - But running "fastboot erase cache" might be a good idea
4. no - But you should boot into TWRP at this point
5. yes - You can copy the files directly to the device over USB via MTP or UMS (mass storage mode)
5.5. In TWRP, Wipe Menu -> Format Data -> type "yes" to confirm, and then reboot recovery using the reboot menu in TWRP.
6. I don't know what that link is, but once you boot back into TWRP, you just navigate to the zip and swipe to install it.
7. Reboot system
8. ?????
9. Profit!
Regarding your questions:
1. No
2. See 5.5 above. You can also go to the Advanced Wipe Menu (Wipe -> Advanced Wipe) in TWRP and check the boxes to wipe Cache and System.

Looks like your fix worked. Thanks for your help, this saved me a lot of trouble with HTC.
