my phones system memory is taking up just over 6GB and when apps are uninstalled it doesn't free up the memory

Nexus S have a lot of storage for the apps plus it shares internal memory any way, so is there point to move apps to SD?
Does it make apps to run slower if they moved to SD?
Some of the apps installs to SD by default, should I move them back to phone?
Thanks.
as a general rule, it's more beneficial to install apps that can run properly from SD to SD during installation
this saves internal memory space
it doesn't really affect performance
the original concept of App 2 SD was for the older phones that had very little internal storage memory

I totally disagree with the general rule part.
I think it's pointless to bother moving something to the /sdcard on a Nexus S (Galaxy S, Vibrant, Captivate, etc) unless you're running out of internal ROM space for apps. Even with 130+ apps (many of them larger ones like co-pilot, 3D games, etc), I never have gone above 500mb used for apps on either my Galaxy S or Nexus S.
I won't say I can't imagine ever needing more than a gig, but it doesn't seem likely in the near future.
There's also a downside to using apps2sd when you're not out of space on the internal memory: you're giving up limited sdcard space for media storage like music and movies. Granted not much, but without an external sdcard, our Nexus S is even more limited in that regard. On my Galaxy S I had almost 28 gigs of stuff on the two cards (int and ext sdcard)...YMMV.
Everyone's usage patterns are different, so there's no right/wrong answer here.
Not enough space to download needed files (300MB) for installed application (10MB) (tried like 4 apps same problem).
Status
SD Crad
Total 30 GB
Available 18 GB
Phone Memory
Total 5 GB
Available 196 MB
Internal Phone Storage
Available 1 GB
I don't understand why cant this data be downloaded to SD Card, app does not support it i guess.
I tried move app to SD card it works but app is just 10MB and when i start app it try to download needed files to phone memory.
Is there some way/app to force app to use SD Card for storage.
Or is there way to expand phone memory?
Or how can i know what on my phone memory taking up space i am sure i haevn't installed even up to 1gb worth of apps.
Rooted Stock Android 2.3
when you install apps it goes into the INTERNAL memory
it doesn't care how much free space is in your SD card

As mentioned above, its install on on-board memory. There was perhaps an app called install2sd or move2sd or something like that perhaps which you could use.
I was getting this same issue today when installing modern combat 3. I have 10gb left on my amaze 4g internal and yet not enough space for 1gb
Seems like installing Whitehawkx ROM eliminated this problem i dont even see system partition anymore in settings.
Sometimes this happens to me when I know I have space as well. I either end up trying to delete something and retrying the install, or just retrying the install and it works. Sometimes the phone is strange...but I'm sure this isn't a lot of help.
perhaps the phone doesn't support high capacity micro SD Cards therefore it does not recognise how much space the card has got
I have this problem too and i have resolved in some cases with delete market cache and restart the device or using a Market fixer App like Titanium backup that have a Market Doctor function

its a huge drawback that whenever i try to install an app in HTC explorer it shows memory full message though sd card memory is 1.7GB free...some apps like facebook are in internal memory which cant b moved...anyway to move existing apps which are stick to internal memory!!!
what would be the least amount of memory space for the sensation to operate without too much lag?
Temporarily reviving my Sens 4G while my M7 goes in for repair.
I've moved a few apps to the SD to make space andI'm now at 304 MB free (26%) after cache clean.
ViperS 1.6.3 with settings to default. 60 or so "user" apps.
Hi,
Good day to all of you,
I'd just wanted to ask for some idea on how I can increase the apps storage of my Gionee Elife E6.
On their advertisement it has 32GB internal memory but then encountered space running out when having only total of 3GB app installed.
I downloaded the app named "Storage Space" and shocked when I saw that the device only allocates 2.96GB for apps to be installed and the 24.26GB for the media storage (videos, pictures, etc. which I'm not planning to consume for those stuff). There is also no option to move the app to SD but since Gionee Elife E6 has no option to insert SD card I'm thinking that is why it doesn't have option for that? My question is how can I move the apps to the excess storage which is the 24.26GB? Also, is there a way to increase the memory allocated for apps even when I rooted the phone if left no option? I bought this phone thinking that I can fully utilized the 32GB memory for google apps.
Please see the attachments.
Thanks to all

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
Unfortunally i couldn't find the device forum for your mentioned one so the better way to ask is to do it here >>> Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
