[Q] About unlocking bootloader - Sony Xperia M2

I'm looking forward to unlock the bootloader on my M2 D2305. I also have a friend who has an Xperia Mini Pro and unlocked bootloader, he said that if you are unlocking without backing up the DRM partition, you will lose many Sony's unique features. So what exactly is the so called Sony's unique features on our M2 ? Just making sure so that I don't lose anything that I will be using daily though
Thanks in advance

Unique features
from what I know is they are such TrackID or upload android by pc companion or sony update service

Thanks for the reply. TrackID is useless for me, as for Sony's update service, we can always use flashtool so I guess I'm off to unlock the bootloader

Bravia engine

M2 doesn't have it I supposed, seeing it doesn't have the option to turn it on or off

Don't you also lose any DRMed files you bought from sony, like music/movies etc?
What about MHL?

What's MHL ? I don't buy musics/videosfrom Sony, so it's safe for me.

I'm not sure the M2 even has it, tbh.

Nope it doesn't

EE and Bootloader

Does anyone know if Xperia Z3's supplied directly through EE or Orange have unlockable bootloaders?
I'm due an upgrade but don't want to be stung with a locked bootloader like I was with the Z1.

Not sure if you can but still even if you could would you want to? Sony has put up a disclaimer on its website stating that unlocking the bootloader on its high-end models, namely the Xperia Z3, will lead to issues in the performance of its camera. After unlocking the bootloader of the device, taking photos in low-light conditions is going to be worse than before...
Yeah that's true but further into the Z3 life cycle things will eventually start to 'feel' boring as I like to tinker with my phones and from experience I tend to get bored if I stay on the same ROM - I may be considered a flashaholic :silly:. It's what makes my Z1 feel boring even though it is a good phone.
So being able to switch between ROMs and custom kernels is something I cannot do without again! Loosing the camera performance is something I can live with (plus a TA backup, once possible before unlocking, will mean I can revert back).
Anyone with an Xperia Z3 from EE want to do a quick check to see if bootloader is unlockable please?
If it's of any help, I know that the xperia z2 from ee had a unlockable bootloader.

Says:
Please note! It will only be possible to unlock the boot loader for certain releases. You can check if it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device in the service menu by following the steps below:
In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
There's a link to a page where you provide an email address where they email you a code.

Because as a developer you might be more interested in developing apps for the phone than taking photographs using DRM-restricted software?
Sorry to bump an old thread like this, but is there a definitive answer on this from someone that has a Z3 supplied by EE? I'm looking at a Z3 for an upgrade, but would really like an unlockable bootloader if possible.
Thanks for any input.
One last bump to see if anyone from the UK knows. I suppose I'll go and ask on EE's "support" forum if nobody knows.

Unlocked bootloader consequences

I'm going to unlock my friends BL in order to flash clean CM11 on Xperia J and I'm wondering whether there is any stuff that will get lost after unlocking the bootloader like x-reality or other stuff. I'm not sure whether something like this exists on Xperia J and whether I should worry about taking a TA backup. If there's no features that will get lost then I'll have no worries as the warranty already expired.
TL;DR
Do I lose anything from Xperia J after unlocking the bootloader?
Seriously? This question is so simple, come on :/

[Q] Bootloader unlock impossible?

Hi guys, my new Z3 has just arrived today and I am looking to remove the bloat. I went to the Sony site to unlock my bootloader but aparently it cannot be unlocked (using service menu to check). I am new to Sony products, does this mean I will never be able to unlock my bootloader? Is this caused by a hardware difference?
Thanks

Plenty about this on the forums already.
If service menu says "bootloader unlock allowed: no"
You can't do anything.

My Z3 is D6653 android 4.4.4 build 23.0.A.2.108
i have unlock boot b4.. after than i was lock it back to restore back original ...but now i wan unlock back it not working d
just show me the error have rooted is that only can unlock one time???after lock back its not working any more??
Can someone clearify to me what i lose or what dont work if i unlock my bootloader and root my Z3... Some camera elements dont work? I lose TA and DRM things? What else? Now i have rooted Note 4 without losing anything (okay, Knox but i dont even need it) but i havent never unlock Sony Xperia Devices and i can't live without root.

Unlocking bootloader

I'm considering unlocking my bootloader as it can be unlocked. I know that you loose your drm keys if you don't back up the ta (already done this as rooted). Also does it affect the use of the camera like on z3 z2 ect and the Walkman app are their more pro's than con's to doing it. I can find plenty of info about z devices and what is affected by not for the m2.

Unlock bootloader

So I want to unlock my bootloader and I noticed it can't be selected on Sony website. Do I click the xz or what do I do?
unlock
you can select XZ
it works with XZs
Thanks. Gonna give it a go
Hi guys, its a silly question...do we still lose DRM keys when unlocking bootloader? Like with Z series?
Sony provides the ability to unlock the bootloader of the XZs on their website... If I do so, without doing any other changes, will this result to losing DRM keys or whatever else that's important? Hope anyone can clarify, thanks.

i really want someone to try this to save drm keys
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xzs/how-to/dirty-trick-t3759905
i don't have xzs in my country otherwise i would have tried my self!
xzs is basically XZ so if android 6 of xz can be flashed on xzs before unlocking bootloader and then running dirtycow script!... iam 99% sure it will work! both always run on same buildnumbers and kernel versions!
