[Theme] Zen Beta Released! 20/07

ok guys here is a theme i have been currently working on and just wanted to know if you guys had any interest in it. it doesn't have a proper name but its code name is Zen. feel free to suggest names and i will choose whichever i think suits it best. The theme is in a alpha stage at the moment as there are still lots of areas i plan on themeing. im also not 100% sure on the dock yet and currently testing ideas for a new one. i hope at least some of you guys are interested .

no reason its just the style of the wallpaper im using which was created by daaxix from twitter. i asked someone to provide me with a simple wallpaper i could use with my theme and he responded with this.

It's fine, I just thought it would look cleaner and more natural if it wasn't there

it looks really good, but whats with the giant pokeball? You have to be rooted to install these right?

I like the status bar very much.

lol i dont know i just preferred it to the grid of squares on stock. if people dont like it i can try find a replacmenet yeah you have to be rooted.

This is the best theme I have seen since gChrome!
I converted this wallpaper from a Gnome (Ubuntu) wallpaper because I liked it. I set the line up so that the bottom row of icons on the phone lie in the dark region. This allows for a dark and light region, I use the upper light region for a google calendar widget, which makes the text easy to read.

Ive been working on this now for about 4 days straight to give everyone another choice in roms. I themed everything in this rom, made over 100 of my own parts for framework. Its ok. Sorry you never like my work, but you always check it out. I could care less if you like it. I made it for MYSELF, then took the extra time to ul it for others here,cus i know no one else does what i do....Theres plenty of normal roms out there for guys like you. Good luck with that. BTW, im already aware that my mods are liked by about 10% of the ppl here, but im happy if ONE other person enjoys it as much as i do. besides, if you dont like my work, the thousand other pps that dl'd my last rom DID. Im not a dev and i dont want popularity, i just want to contribute since ive learned so much here, this is how i give back.

Ive come to the conclusion that some people on these forums are like kids with pop-up books. They only look at the pictures and nothing else. Forget the fact that he told you to keep your negative comments to yourself.
nice work you have done here. Im happy to see that someone thinks "out of the box" if you will. We have bare naked roms, full featured roms, customizable roms, now we have another option.

Please don't look into my previous comment as being negative. I didn't mean it as such. Sometimes roms, themes and anything for that matter even women...lol takes time to grow on you. I like all the details you displayed about the rom. It's the color part that'll have to grow on me. But what the hell, I can get find a cool wallpaper for that. Nevertheless, I can guarantee you that i will be flashing this though.

Very intense theming, good job on the thoroughness. I do see one bug. The icons in the notification bar have backgrounds that make them really stand out. They are duller red and don't quite match up. The notification bar isn't a consistent vertical gradient, so no icons can really match up with the bar since they don't appear in the same spot all the time (Unless they can have a transparent background).

I'm looking for the Dock Icons in this picture, I had them on CM6 but now I can't find them anywhere....been searching forever!

No clue where they are at, but with text icons I usually make them myself if I can't find them. If you have photoshop, just play with some fonts until you find one you like, find the proper size for an icon (think its 72 x 72 pixels), save them as png's and put them on your memory card. Makes for some awesome icons. Hope that helps a little.

It does look like that, the ones I had looks like some of the letters are slightly offset... I like it because It kind of made the bubbles on my dock look like it was distorting them a bit.

The font that guy linked in here will work fine.
I would like each icon to have 2 words if possible, kinda like PHONE with DIALER underneath it in smaller print. If not, then just the word Phone. Then MRKT with market underneath, TEXT with handcent underneath and WEB with browser underneath.
If the 2 word icons aren't possible then just the first word will work! Maybe in White or light gray if you can!
This would be greatly greatly appreciated

Alright. Try this. I tried them out on my own screen. Both sets have no background so they'll be hard to see until you place them on a dark dock background or dark wallpaper. If they don't work, holler at me. It only took about 10 minutes to do so any changes are pretty easy. You'll obviously have to unzip first before you put them on the sdcard. Good luck. Cheers.

Yea I thought about that and wondered how it would look. I could have put a solid background on them but it would have hid the bubbles. Let me know if it works out. And no worries, my pleasure...that's what the forum is here for. Plenty of people have stepped up to help me out. Have a good one.

Work in Progress

ok so here are the new screen shots and what i have changed. still working on icons and which apks to include as i do not want to suffer the same fate as some of those that are being reminded that warez is not aloud. i will pick those that suit it best for everyone. when ready to upload which i hope will not be too much longer. i hope that you guys enjoy it as much as i do. trying to mod all png images for apks that i can is being a little difficult so i will upload screenshots of those when i get them ready.
also if im not able to share at least you have an idea of what im running;-)

Thanks for stopping and taking the time to comment. As i said its a work in progress. second its personal preference and nothing is in stone yet. so color choice really hasn't been decided. and i know alot of people that dig blue and would be happy to have it. thanks again for stopping in to comment though. i appreciate it and will do what mods i can.

Thank you for your feedback, white is exactly what i am thinking to put in the status bar and in the drop down. however, with the cyanogen mod settings installed, this can be done through there.
yet i dont want this to be just for a cyanogen settings phone. im looking into making it an available option for all 2.2 versions.

Black and purple just don't match up on the first SS.
Secondly the status bar is rarely ugly, all people will rather prefer just a colour (Black,white,blue etc)
Third the icon with all blue is not nice.

work in progress..... nothing set in stone yet, feedback is always appreciated. blue icons look great i think. if people hadnt already went ds with their themes already i would have a chance at one. however im workin with a variety but still trying to keep simple. work in progress. new screen shots coming soon to show the changes.

Way to go mate, it's a guttsy color scheme not my thing though. Purple and blacks like green on red, hard to read. I suggest keeping it simple, gentle but sharp.. I'll be way watching

appreciate your feedback. most polite one besides second post. i have modified it a little more and have gotten rid of the colors and went mor simple as people have suggested. status bar is now blue and drop down bar is no black and blue. and drop down bacground is a lot easier to read. new screen shots coming soon.

emm i think u should try lighter blue....like the color of the sea...sky or something like that if u want to go with blue...but i think is great....soon u will make a fine theme....also for the notification bar normally people would like white as a font because it is easy to read because of the background color....so if u stick with blue try make a light one...because it easy to contrast between the font and the background...anyway good luck dude....will follow ur progress...keep it up!!later u can make a theme with ur eyes close....haha....joking...

Need to say, Didn't like the theme at all, it's very simple with not good color scheme, but that score is AMAZING.

All themes should be unique, if the blue was slightly muted then it would be more appealing. But changing the density to 190 would make it aesthetically pleasing too... To be honest, the whole point of android os is the ability to create something unique, so well done

thanks for your comments. actually i did have a lighter blue at one time but didnt think that it really looked all that good, and really didnt go with the colors of the bee in wallpaper image. as im sure most users want there own wallpaper or background compared to using the one that is included with the package.
however, at the same time, there are those of us users who want everything we need and nothing we dont. meaning why add something or take something away if you really dont need to? i personally dont care for a large display of colors so keeping at least one color and having the rest black is suitable. so if all icons are black and blue. or black and green or black and yellow( yes pun intended if your heard this song). also the lesser value of bright colors means you dont have alot of bright screen when you dont need it.

android 2.2 scores like this come from a multitude of things. the greatness of zdzihu for his 2.2b4, data2sd, xrecovery.

as for the color scheme. i notice there are alot of you out there that really dont care for it. and as i find this really hard to believe, wow! i like most themes that ive seen out there and am really impressed with all the work that was done to them. even though i dont care to use some of theme. as i didnt care for the status bar icons or in which color it was set. mainly the 2.2 white task bar. that drives me nuts!
feedback is always appreciated and am happy that you are one of the few people to stop in and read and comment shows that something might have caught your eye and you wanted to see where it goes. so that is appreciated as well.

i appreciate your view on "unique". to which if everyone wanted to really personalize their phone. they wouldnt want to try out what everyone, or anyone else has.
my first creation was black, purple and blue in some artistic paint splash decor for the statur bar and dropdown. it was nice for me other than not seeing the clock.
as changing the blue ill look into the density and take your suggestion into consideration.
for those that really dont like the clock, i like minium color as i use my device more at night and really dont care to put off a glow when using it. i like to see my device and not let everyone else see it.
especially when driving. i dont like a bright screen poopping in my face. i like something that just lights up with the perfect ambient light needed so im not too distracted.

Mods, please delete. as i have stopped working on this theme for now. this Thread is no longer needed. Thank you;-)

I would change the colour in the statusbar. Maybe a bit transparency would be nice And the pink text should be white or sth like that But all in all a good start

Attached are the downloads.
I have tested the Green and it installed flawless. I did not test the others as the files only had name changes and the xml was modified to match those name changes.
As always Make a backup before applying any ROM or theme. im not responsible for any errors but will help if anything goes wrong.
Download Metamorph from the market (Please try to support the developer buy purchasing the pro version if you can)
I always unzip the files to the /Sdcard/Androidthemes/.
Open metamorph and let it do its checks. Then click on the Pick existing theme. Depending on which file u have downloaded and extracted to androidthemes choose SwypeColor (Of course color would be the color you have downloaded). then click on the SwypeColor.xml The description will popup with the information. Click close then chose apply all. Let it do its magic. When it finishes reboot. When it completes its reboot go to settings>keyboard and language>Check swype and setting swype as input method. When you attempt to use the keyboard it should load.

I left the tracer as the stock cyan blue-ish color thats in it, I didnt really look into changing it.
Honestly I can do any color, would prefer to keep this theme down to like 5 versions right now. So I guess first 5 come first 5 served lol. Yes it has full support for everything the Droid X can utilize.
If you post a link to changing the tracer color Ill look into to. Cant do much at my current location due to work. Also kinda lazy atm but more along the lines of work reason not to tho =þ
Mods: Can the stock Swype.apk be posted? I know the beta cannot but Im not sure about the stock Swype that comes with the DX.

White would be to hard for a quick setup. Let me look into to it over a couple days and Ill see what it gets to.

Ok. I have 6 in total cooked up right now. Ill post them when I get home. The 6 are Blue, Green, Purple, Red, Orange, and Grey. I got tired of waiting for requests so I had my girlfriend pick out 5 more colors lol.

Well I did research and found out I can not post a full apk of the Swype app. Ive currently finished researching how to make a metamorph theme and am making a backup and then I will test it out to make sure it installs correctly.

what about some honeycomb touch in it

It did install good but I need better instructions for installing because my phone is not liking the grey swipe

Force closing or something else? Post a screen shot so I know exactly what you mean.

It won't even show up sadly. Can you pm me better instructions to make sure it's not me?
