I tried many ways to flash my compiled kernel zImage in samsung galaxy S5 phone. Tried with ODIN, Tried with HEIMDALL but failed. someone told flash cutom ROM then try flashing your zImage then signature checking will be not there, Tried that also got failed. I am able to flash my kernel by its not booting. Getting frustrated.
If you follow these links they mentioned in very simple to compile and flash
http://www.usmile.at/node/50
But its not working for me.
My kernel code is from samsung official website for my particular model and i am building it in same way they as they are saying, so i have less doubt on kernel. Still i was having feel some signature checking is going and i am not able to disable it. Even after flashing with custom ROM also SECUREBOOT ENABLE is there. I feel this is the reason of all my problem. During installation of SUPERSU application its asked me to disable KNOX. i disable KNOX there but still nothing working for me. Please help to flash my compiled kernel in phone.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to flash a custom ROM that I created (Android 4.2.2 downloaded from google repo and kernel downloaded from samsung opensource) to my SAMSUNG Galaxy S3 mini SM-g730a (AT&T). The problem is that this phone seems impossible to flash with unsigned or non-samsung roms!
I tried to upload boot.img and system.img through heimdall and it gives me an error (ERROR: Failed to confirm end of file transfer sequence!).
I tried to upload it with ODIN but gives me an error (Security check error)
I tried to create a zip with Android Kitchen and install it from the recovery mode and this time the error is about the sign of the zip. I tried to look for a customized version of recovery mode but I could not find one compatible with this phone. So, I cannot install it from the zip since I cannot sign the zip as samsung.
At this point I am tempted to take the phone and flush it in the toilet!!!
Any suggestion or anyone that could install a custom ROM?
Thanks
Marco
Your phone needs to be unlocked.
This is a little late but safestrap was just ported to the g730a.
I find Root
Hi, so i ran in to some problems and questions while fixing my girlfriends galaxy s duos (GT-S7562).
I wanted to install a debloated firmware/root the device to uninstall bloatware because it got dead slowly in the last few weaks.
some info:
AP: S7562XXALJ4
CP: S7562XXLJ3
CSC: S7562ATOALH1
free handset bought in Austria
First of all I followed this guide.
I installed the clockwork recovery first, but when booting into it I don't get the usual backup option I normaly found on my older android devices.
When I try to root it i get error "failed to verify whole-file signature" and "signature verification failed".
Last I wanted to ask what roms are possible to install on my device,
fyi: KyleOPEN ROM says it needs XXBMD6 Base rom
but how can I get this Base rom? or is it impossible for me to flash this rom?
any help/explanation would be appreciated!

The XXBMD6 base ROM is available here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Just input your phones model number into the device search and download the one with the matching PDA file end.
For the recovery issues, some recoveries are different based on the devices capabilities but overall most options like install.zip and nandroid backups should be available.
To flash the base ROM use odin and flash as if you're returning to stock then follow the guide.
And there are many ROMs available for your device, there's a list in the thread you posted
thanks for your answer, so I just have to flash any of the XXBMD6 roms over my XXALJ4 (I guess this is the PDA file end you're talking about)?
after this I am able to install mentioned KyleOPEN ROM?
sorry I'm almost new in this topic (last android phone was a htc legend, forgot everything)
edit: the problem with the recovery was that it switched back to stock recovery itself, found the workaround with renaming the install_recovery

I am in the same situation. I'm interested in what you have done on this issue??
I'm hoping to root my stock Android M Preview 3 install that I have. I see multiple threads and how to guides but all the download links for custom kernels to accomplish this are down. Does anyone have an up-to-date link for this process?
Thanks!
EDIT: Planning to go with this kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/kernel-elementalx-n5-0-44-t2519607
I'll post back with more details if it works out.
Turns out you have to flash a kernel first then flash the SuperSU package. I found this using Google
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/how-root-n...id-m-build-mpa44g-developer-preview-3-1515927
One would hope but that ended up in a boot loop for me which led me to discover that we need a custom kernel on the system before flashing the SuperSU package.
I used wugfresh tool kit, no problems.
I'm using that too but when you use it to flash SuperSU, you get boot loops on Preview 3 because you need a custom kernel. Otherwise, yes it works wonders for rooting any other rom.
In fastboot, I installed stock kernel, and just after, less reboot, I installed elementalX and after supersu and it's good for me.
If you don't install elementalX and reboot just after stock kernel, it doesn't work.
This is what worked for me.
Hi, my friends dad purchased a galaxy s5 (scl23 - sm900j, running 4.4.2 )from some website and its performance has been atrocious. Me and my friend have attempted to install a custom rom but have ran into issues. At first we tried to flash twrp through odin but that failed so then we tried to install twrp through twrp manager (we gained root through towel root). The main problem happened when he rebooted into the bootloader/recovery screen where he got the "could not do normal boot" message. Google says that to resolve this you flash the stock rom, so we tried googling for that but not even sammobile has the 900j stock rom. Does anyone any way to fix the problem/ what/where the 900j rom is?
edit: i think i might have found it, using SCL23 brings up results even though 900J doesnt.
follow up question: say we are able to boot back to stock rom, are there any tailored guides for the 900J on how to flash?
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) and read a few topics that there's an issue with SuperSU so it hasn't been made available officially yet.
I saw Dr.Etkan's script so I assume that's what I'd need. However, at the website of TWRP I see this message: "This means that swiping to allow system modifications will prevent you from being able to boot if you are using the stock kernel. In order to bypass dm-verity's boot prevention, you will have to install a kernel that has dm-verity disabled in the fstab."
Does this message still apply for the latest stock rom for android nougat?
I'd be nice if someone could tell me the steps (1, 2, 3 etc etc) to root my Galaxy S6. I flashed the stock rom from France (XEF), and I have rooted my Galaxy S4 in the past, so I know how Odin works and how to get in to download mode.
Thanks!
