[Q] Root sony xperia Z3 - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

today i bought sony xperia z3 and my rooted xperia z2 with me.
i want to ask about rooting the z3 , can i use v12.1 rooting to root like z2 or shoud i wait for other version. any one try

I tried v12.1 root doesn't work

Questions belong in the questions forum. cmon man!

I'd wait for http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ to be supported.
And just so you know, all rooting is, is installing /xbin/su and /system/app/SuperUser.apk. Once you can unlock the bootloader, you should just be able to push those files to the correct spot after remounting system rw

Please post questions in the Q&A section

Not quite. In Sony devices it also means killing the RIC so that you can mount the system partition as RW. Yes, unlocking the bootloader allows for easy rooting, but a lot of Sony devices have boots that cannot be unlocked. So there are plenty of other ways to do it.
Try looking at in the Z2 or Z1 sections. There are some root methods that work on 4.4.4 but they may not work on the new Z3, But I am interested as I will be getting this device very soon....

What does that mean, "seems to be possible" ? - Working or not working ?

Did not try it myself but read somebody was successful
As some ppl in Android Development have unlocked their BL I guess it's true.

hoping for some good news :fingers-crossed:

any luck with easy root tool?

On youtube people to root successfully tested genius ?
Someone who is tested ?

There is also an app available, maybe to root without a PC, like towelroot, framaroot and so on, but it's in some kind of asian language. Really don't know what it does. Can't find any documentation.

Not sure if it will work for Sola, but you may want to check out the test point metod to unlock the bootloader. You won't lose DRM. you can also relockmthe B any time you want.
fter 2 days of long hours of failure attempts, im so frustrated now. xda users say its not safe to unlock bootloader if phone's manufacturing date is over 11W29+, which will results in hard brick. my sola has date of 12W38, but i see many guide in unlocking sola's bootloader. so what the heck is all this bout? btw how to tell whether bootloader has been unlock? i used flashtool n i my sola reboot from fastboot. it seems ok(can be use) but i dono whether the bootloader is unlock......im so damn confused right now. this drives me so crazy........

Are you still looking for an answer about how to tell if bootloader is locked or unlocked?
just try to update with pc companion or update service , if it says modified software then the bootloader is unlocked , if it still continues ( cancel it ) then it means its locked.. I've not tried it but read it here.

Rooting Xperia L 4.2.2

Hi community, I have flashed Android 4.2.2 Generic World FTF using Flashtool to my Xperia L C2105, now I want to root it, but I don't know, how to do it. I have found this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307983 and there is reference to thread with 4.2.2 root, but I can't go on this webpage, there is some error.
Can somebody give me some tutorial how to root XL working on Android 4.2.2, or explain me?
I have also found Motochopper method, somebody told me that it is right way to root my phone, but I'm not sure because I have read somewhere that Motochopper works only on some Motorola devices.
Maybe I will sell my phone in 3-4 months so I'll need a warranty back, so there should be a way to unroot the phone.
Sorry for my english
Thanks for help, greetings.
The methods that exist to root 4.2.2 firmware on Xperia L are considered unsafe :-/ Therefore the page was removed by xda's mods
And the motochopper method you read about was meant for android 4.1
To unroot you can always restore your device to original firmware, using pc companion, Sony Update Service or flashtool
Ok, thanks. When you say, that root on 4.2.2 is unsafe, do you mean that I won't be able to flash soft back at all? But does some method to root 4.2.2 exists?

Unsafe means those software are suspected to be malicious, more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46246819&postcount=1
Okay, thanks. Someone can close the thread, nvm, I'll wait till there will appear some safe and working way to root.
Thank you all.

You can try this method...root 4.2
Rooting using Kingoroot and vroot is risky.. It and IMEI number of your device to their server in China.. And we don't know what it does.. So be careful and don't use these 2 methods

Ok it was like this...I have found how to root my phone on a completely safe way. That method is called Kingo Android root. You have to download that software and install it on your comp. once when you connect your phone Kingo Android Root will find and install everything that you need to root your phone. Hope it will work.

That is pretty ****ty man. I have assumed that your phone will be supported. Unfortunately I dont know any method that will work, but you can try with some pre-rooted rom and flesh that. My first thought 'd be cyanogenmod but I dont know if your phone is supported or not. You can check that and seek for much info in this link http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Main_Page

[Completed] Help with the Xperia T Root Process

Hello there
I have Xperia T (LT30p) running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. I want to root it but when I went to check whether I can unlock the bootloader or not, it said a clear NO. What can I do in this case? Will I be able to root my device ever? What is the bootloader and its function? If I try to root my device, will I brick it? Kindly help me with this.
Thank you!!

Hello,
I have not this device but a search came with some useful information here: ALL IN ONE THREAD[Updated 12/3/13]Read me first!.
In the second post of the thread above you will find two interesting parts for you:
-Root Including rooting on JB DIRECTLY
-Unlock/Relock Bootloader
About the risk to "brick" your device, you will find information here: [GUIDE] Recover 2012 and newer XPERIAs from SOFT-brick.
Take your time and read closely, good luck!

It's not as simple as that, Kingroot devs need a security exploit to root, not only 300 peoples who need root lol, they are not Gods. It's like finding jailbreak exploit on IOS, you can wait for looong months or more.
Read this you will easily understand: http://www.xda-developers.com/a-look-at-marshmallow-root-verity-complications/
On ALL others Xperia devices you need to downgrade to Lollipop for root and update to Marshmallow after or have unlocked bootloader to flash modified boot.img and to allow root under Marshmallow.
But I'm crossing fingers with you if it can help :fingers-crossed:

Thanks for answer, good to know.. Even is a little bad info Im flash/root my Xperia devices since 2011 and never get any issues so far and i think that are much easier to make X series rootable.. But u're right - few times while rooting i have to downgrade Android, then root and then back to latest firmware with root on board Idk exactly why, but I dont want unlock brand new phone ^^ So we have to wait

Same here reluctant to unlock my Bootloader until I can back up the ta keys for which for our device isn't currently possible there's also no fully working twrp and more people seem to have the dual model than the LTE model so most stuff is for that. Plenty of experience rooting and flashing that's about it.

@aidy.lucas I'm OK with you, I lost 24 months warranty because unlocking bootloader but no pain no gain . For single sim models I have zero feedback and on dual no bad feedbacks after root. Just a little correction, TWRP is fully working like on others Marshmallow devices, mounting /system rw doesn't seem to be a problem on XA (tested full backup and restore) :good:
