-:How to Flash:-
Note:
I Will Not Be Responsible For Any Brick or Any Problem.....So Flash At Your Own Risk. This ROM only flashes System & Data partitions and DOES NOT change anything else so chances of brick are 0 but still, please keep CWM Backup ready which will be used if you find issues in the ROM so that you can revert back to normal working status.
Use custom KK recovery from here.
I prefer [CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch 6.56.2 - cwm 6.0.5.0.
(Internal sd-card refereed as sdcard00, external as sdcard01)
Download rom zip file.
Put into sd card.
Flash the desired recovery.
Boot into recovery.
BACKUP CURRENT ROM
Wipe for flash of new rom.
Or wipe data/system/delvic cache/cache.
Select Install From SD (Internal or External)
Select the zip file and Select YES
Reboot.
THINGS TOBE NOTED
First boot takes time 3-5 mins so be patient.
After the boot logo (boot logo may look as if its stucked)
blank screen is seen its not hanged.
wait until it boots.
Phone reboot once inbetween so dont worry.
I didnt got much time to play around so please let me know any bugs/issues/Suggestions.

U can always hit the thanks button if u really want to thank
as for the issue i will see the cause but i never encountered the same issue anytime in any rom.
it may be related to lights for msg/miss call notifications.

Review of the ROM
:good: ( Thanks Again @avi)
ROM is really awesome ,rock solid and seems to be having good battery life.
APPS
1. Bundled Lenovo Camera is superb and has many interesting feature which were lacking in original default camera app.
2. Lenovo gallery is also nice and we can get 2 GB of cloud space for the photo upload.
3. Apollo is default music player app. (Missing DSP plugin)
Root and Ram consumption
As said by @avi its pre-rooted, initial RAM consummation was around 544 MB on first boot.
BUGS
1. Capacitive buttons auto illumination
2. Lenovo Camera is battery drainer- It needs some optimization .
Things haven't tested yet.
1. GPS
2. USB OTG

1. GPS
2. USB OTG[/QUOTE]
Capacitive button auto illumination, is not a bug its a feature, common feature of most cm or aosp roms for the phone which lack notification light. These lights turn on n off if there is missed call or unread message. You can choose it to turn off in settings under notification lights. I prefer no light at all i these buttons, n can be done by gravity box.
GPS & OTG working fine for me...
Some bugs in Lenovo camera... focusing is not proper... especially in macro mode. But features like pano are too good. Editing effects in gallery are also good. But as the app says it will be improved in next update.
Finally thanx a ton to Avi for this amazing ROM.. best of all...
One req Avi can you make a blak/ Dark version of it.. having blacked out apps.(gmail, email, contacts, etc)

I just want to know one thing from all of you here
1. lets say i have a recovery (ctr 2.5 or Philz)
I have JB/kitkat base rom (came with phone or u flashed)
I flashed a JB custom rom (like MIUI, color Os)
Modded it as i like
took a backup in recovery.
Now i want to try a custom kitkat rom (for eg Android L)
Now i went in recovery wipe all flashed android L rom
is everything is working now???
if suppose everything working fine
I modded rom as i like
went in recovery
took backup.
Now i want to go back to JB rom from my previous backup
so i restore that rom
Now everything is working here also or not??
So in simple words I want to test JB/Kitkat rom switching via recovery without flashing base rom with spflash tools.
i.e. a universal recovery for flashing JB and KK custom roms.
If anyone tested this before please comment.
u can comment even if u havnt tried (i am gonna try it this weekend)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. If at all the camera not working as reported previously
when u running kitkat and flashed a custom JB rom (here we were using cwm 6028 and not ctr or philz)
as per one post we need to flash uboot.bin and camera will work.
we need to test that also.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. now what i tested till now
my phone came with stock JB
was using a custom JB rom with ctr 2.5
want to try/test a kitkat rom.
so
i flashed KK via flash tools
flashed philz.
tried that rom
everything is working
i want to switch back to jb rom
so i flash that rom in philz recovery (i havnt took backup which i can restore)
and that JB rom is working without any issues now.
now i will take backup of this JB rom in philz.
wipe data
flash custom kk rom
and see if all working
go back to JB rom with restoring the backup.
will post results.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Made a new PhilZ 6.57.9 based on cwm 6051
will add it soon
by the way i was testing this

NOTICE: If you have flashed any ROM, including CyanogenMod, that has converted the phone to MTD (yaffs2 filesystem), then this will not work. I abandoned ReRFS when MTD became the standard for CyanogenMod for the Epic. Only ODIN can be used to restore the phone to RFS from MTD.
The purpose of this ROM is to format the Epic 4G back to RFS, and give a stock EC05 system. Most current ROMs format ext4, and this will bring it back to RFS. This flashes a stock odexed EC05 system, stock EC05 kernel, and ClockworkMod 3.1.0.1 Purple Edition. This can be flashed from either cwm2 for cwm3, and can even be used as a stock ROM on phones already formatted as RFS.
Updated to cwm 3.1.0.1, and as long as your current reboot recovery boots to cwm 3.0.2.5 or 3.1.0.1, ReRFS can be flashed using ROM Manager.
Todo: I'd like to kang chris41g's autoconvert scripts for an automatic backup portion before flashing... I haven't been able to reach him lately, and I'd like his permission before using his script.
This does not touch the modem... use odin to flash the EC05 modem, or use the zip library of tools for ClockworkMod for the epic below, including modem flashes for oder stock modems, stock kernels, and stock recoveries.
IMPORTANT: Make a backup before flashing this- it will format everything on the phone, and destroy all data. It does not touch the sdcard. As with any tool here, I can't be held responsible for any trainwreck that happens to your phone.
I would highly recommend powering off the phone, and booting into cwm with vol down, camera, and power button combo. In recent testing, I've successfully been able to flash ReRFS with ROM Manager with Clean Kernel, as long as reboot recovery brings you to cwm 3.0.2.5 or greater, ROM Manager shouldn't pose any troubles. In the event of flash failure, read the next paragraph.
If for some reason the flash doesn't take, and the phone will not boot afterwards, then perform a 4 finger boot (Vol up + Vol down + camera + power), and flash the ROM again. I haven't needed to do this in my testing, but formatting RFS can be buggy at times, and a reflash of the ROM should take care of it.
If you need to turn in the phone for service or exchange, then flash the ReRFS ROM, and make sure the phone boots. Then go back to ClockworkMod with the 3 finger boot, and flash the Samsung stock recovery, to uninstall ClockworkMod. Only flash the Samsung stock recovery if you need to turn in the phone.
I extend a very special thanks to supercurio- without his voodoo lagfix source, I wouldn't have known the proper fat.format usage, and a trick to write zeros to the system partition before formatting. The exact source is here:

The Samsung stock recovery, for uninstalling ClockworkMod, useful for turning in the phone to Sprint.
Do not flash the stock recovery unless your phone boots into system, and you need to turn the phone in.
modem.DI18toEC05.zip
update modem from DI18 to EC05, particularly important, coming from DI18
modem.EB13toEC05.zip
modem from EB13 to EC05
modem.DI07toDI18.zip
modem from DI07 to DI18
kernel.stock.EC05.epic4g.zip
Just the stock EC05 kernel by itself, if it's ever needed
DRockstar.Clean.Kernel.EC05.v1.05.zip
Flash this kernel to have root and busybox, this kernel has reboot recovery to cwm 3.1.0.1, and is ROM Manager compatible.

You are both so correct on those comments.
I know there will be many happy users once they find this. Going to put this on my card for safe keeping just incase, you know.. The USB takes a dump which at some point it seems to happen to all frequent flashers...
Wow good stuff Rockstar. Great alternative to Odin if you want to restore to stock EC05.
Put the Samsung stock recovery in the tools section of the post...
Flash this with ClockworkMod, to uninstall ClockworkMod, in case the phone needs to be turned in with factory recovery.
If you need to turn in the phone, then flash the ReRFS ROM, and make sure the phone boots. Then go back to ClockworkMod with the 3 finger boot, and flash the Samsung stock recovery, to uninstall ClockworkMod.
Thank u thank u thank u. This made my day as i just started today updating my wife's epic from dk28. I used the ec05 and the kernel and her phone finally is nice to use. No matter how clean of an install it always had some issue. I loathed it, but now she and I am very happy w a 100% functioning phone w 0 problems.
How about a stock ec05 kernal for folks that have a custom kernel, but not a custom rom. That way I don't have to lose all my settings with a complete wipe and I will still be able to take my phone into Sprint.
Thanks for a great job.

You should be able to perform a backup with ClockworkMod before performing this flash. Reboot into android, and check to see that the backup is there in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.
After the ReRFS ROM is performed, reboot, and then shut down. 3 finger boot into ClockworkMod 2.5.1.0. Choose mounts and storage > advanced > {select backup} > restore data.
Alternatively, you can use MyBackup Root, available free from the market, and use that. My rooted kernel is also posted in this thread, that you can flash for that purpose.
I will also post the stock kernel by itself for you, and that will be part of my ClockworkMod tools release, with all of the flashes I've made and collected.
Hope this helps!

Just so you know, most custom kernels currently published (if not all) still make changes to the system files that would prevent OTA updates, and leave tell tale signs of rooting in the system.
In the event that you really needed to turn in the phone, I would do the following:
* Perform a backup with both ClockworkMod and MyBackup Root (just in case)
* Flash ReRFS ROM
* Boot into cwm > backup and restore > advanced restore > {choose backup} > restore data (optional, may work well, may cause force closes)
* From cwm, flash the Samsung stock recovery, in Tools section of this post, to uninstall cwm, and eliminate all signs of tampering
Just wanted to make that clear... Even the cleanest of custom kernels still leave traces when flashing the stock kernel. Even though my Clean Kernel should allow OTA updates to occur once the stock kernel is flashed again, if I really needed to turn in the phone for some reason, I would do the steps I just laid out.
Hope that clarifies some things.
This helps tremendously. Thanks again.

This is exactly what I was hoping to find. I had no problems with flashing this and so far it works perfectly. I am really stoked because I recently broke my usb cable and haven't picked up another yet. Thank You!!
Unreal...we have been around wifi mostly but for 6 hours on 3g. This makes me very happy. Battery is at 53% and this is an ec05 epic 4g

As the instruction said in that page i have to clear the dalvik cache so i rebooted my phone and pressed the volume up, down and power button (the recovery options appears like press volume up to recovery mode, press volume down to factory mode). when i press the volume up button to go to the recovery mode a green android logo image or something appears and blueline processing under it and then my mobile rebooted and starts as fresh each and every time it happen like this i have tried this more than 10 times. After loosing hope in this method i installed Rom manager and when i opened it says please install custom recovery and gave the option to install and cancel. i pressed the install button in the next it show already clockwork mod is installed please choose one and i choosed clockworkmode 3.x+ something. after that i try to backup my current version by pressing the backup option in rom manager again the above process started and again it resets my jb. I can able to go to factory mode by pressing the volume down button. the only thing i couldn't able to do is go into recovery mode and take a backup or install a new rom. Please anyone help me.

Try flashing Stock ROM V2 back to your phone and then perform a factory/data reset.
Then root it and install CWMR through MobileUncle tool.
Now check if you are able to get in to CWMR or not. If yes, then you are done. You may now install any JB based custom ROM of your choice including an official V3 released by Micromax.
Please share your result here for others to refer (whatever it may be)

Yes, you can flash it with SP Flash Tool and Stock V2 ROM file from any computer/laptop running on Windows 7/XP. Doesn't detect device on Windows 8. Refer to the attached file.
Thanks for your help

Hi
Thanks for your help i will try this i have one doubt, instead of installing the same stock rom v2 can i install the suvi rom helios or jupiter and i want another help which one is best rom suvi ver 5 or suvi ver 6.
well i have tried flashing stock v2 from sp flash tool with stock recovery but it doesnt work. i am coming from jmpv8
It is advisable to First flash stock Rom V2 and then root your phone and then install cwm recovery.
After that you can install any Rom. Try LEWA ROM, it is not only faster but also stable and extends battery a lot.

No, you won't be able to flash your backup files from SP flash tool.
For Gaming, try using any ROM which is doesn't eat RAM just for good look and feel. There are many such available on this forum.
Ensure the whichever ROM you install, is V6 supercharged.
Try JMP V9.0, it will serve your purpose.
Thanks for that, i will try it.
Mmx 110 (recovery problem)
When I tried to reboot my canvas 2, the screen freezes in "SUPERFONE CANVAS 2" wordings. I tried again and again to reboot it, but the same thing happens over and over. Please help me.
Is this the first reboot after having installed ROM? If yes then leaves your phone as it is and it will come up after few minutes.
If this is not the case, you can solve this provided that you have CWM Recovery.

Yes you can install any ROM. But for that, you need to first root your phone and install latest CWM recovery. Then you can download and install any Rom.
SUVI has released the latest ROM, try it.

Damn, I just began experienced the exact same problem as the OP, however, I experienced it after quite a few reboots (I installed the JB about a week ago) unlike the OP
I was gonna start a new thread but noticed this one and hence posting my query here...
1) So guys, I just need to flash the Stock ROM V2 using SP tools, root my phone, Install the official MMX JB update and that'll do right?
Does my phone still remain rooted afterwards?
2) Secondly, is it possible to retrieve those apps and data that got wiped off my phone after it reseted?
I did save a nandroid backup once via CWM but that was long ago and quite a few new apps were installed after that
Thanks
BTW, somebody should report the bad release... What did droidser put in that damned thing?
Hi,
Thanks for your replay, it's worked i installed a new ROM but i have been facing some issues in Suvi 6 Rom. I will post it in SUVI Q&A Thread. You tole me to install JMP v9 Rom but i was afraid to install that because in their home thread they have given separate patches for apps and some instruction on how to install that ROM etc... Those thinks confused so i installed suvi rom v6.Thanks again for your help.
Guys, I'm little bit stuck here. My GT suddenly started to reboot after 3 minutes from it's start. I tried to factory reset and clean install of several roms, but the problem is whenever I flash any rom without any errors I got the old rom functioning, I tried to flash a new version of CWM recovery with the same result. Tried TWRP and Phillz with the same. When flashing tried Odin and sideload. I can\t use internal memory as I can\t stop my tab from rebooting. Tried to flash original firmware with Odin 1.85, it completes successfully but when it reboots I got the old ROM functioning with the same frequent reboot.
Tried to flash PIT file as I doubt data partition is not accessible, with official firmware but I got CM as usual.
Recovery log shows that /emmc can not be mounted. It maybe the problem
All processes complete successfully with no errors, but I got the old ROM functioning as if I was doing nothing. Can you guys help me with that?
ROM: CyanogenMod cm 10.1.3 with android version 4.2.2
kernel 3.0.31-CM-gac1803e
Recovery: CWM 6.0.2.7
Hi,
I have got the same kind of problem on CM-11-20140416-NIGHTLY and CWM 6.0.4.5
Tried to flash a PIT file and Stock Rom without any result. Can't even flash different recovery. Every time I get back on the CM-11-20140416-NIGHTLY or CWM 6.0.4.5
I sometimes get "Can't partition non mmcblk device: /devices/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/mmc_host/mmc1" in the CWM 6.0.4.5 log.
Realy have no clue what's wrong. Suspect that internal SD card is corrupt maybe?

The problem is I never get error message while flashing any of ROMs, recoveries or even kernels. I tried parted but it can't get partition map. It is something wrong with partitions I think. I'll try to search for more solutions and I'll keep you posted.
I agree it has something to do with the partitions. Yesterday I flashed stock rom and pit file with no problems according to Odin. However the old rom keeps comming back and force closes within minutes after reboot.
Hello LuCeiFeR,
I was wondering if you had anny progress with this. I'm still stuck and considering buying a new TAB.
No, and I gave up as I'm a little bit sure that this problem is a hardware related issue. It's either emmc or motherboard. My GT is now officially bricked I'll try to replace emmc and let you updated.

do you ever try format system and data?
i mean in custom recovery mode: mount storage - format /data - format /system /cache
i just want to confrim you did a clean flash
I tried to format everything system, data, cache, dalvick cache even repartition but without a result. Every thing completes like a charm, when restarting it comes back to the old ROM.

This is exactly what happen to me now...
I'm just put my tab away about 4 days ago... then it started reboot
It's PASSED when using odin 1.85 / 1.87... but FAILED when using odin 3.XX to flash firmware...
I've tried wipe cache/data... and flash CWM.. Philz... even PIT.... nothing change...
I'm considering to bring my tab to the service center....
It is the mainboard guys, it should be replaced. Done flashing and playing around with my GT
Hi LuCeiFeR
Thanks for the information. Are you going to get the mainboard replaced? I can immagine that buying a new tablet is nearly as expensive.
Is the breakdown of the mainbord the result of flashing by the way?
I think I can conclude that my GT is broken also. Pitty
I recommend that you get your GT to the nearest service centre to lookup for more solutions as I doubt it is the mainboard. I brought my GT to a service centre and they concluded that it is the mainboard. I think more it is the emmc part which should be replaced, not the whole mainboard. In response to your question, we accepted the fact that we can brick our devices the moment we decided to play around with official firmwares. This too is not wrong. But I think that the Tab 2 was not ready enough neither equipped with the right parts to handle kitkat and later versions. I,m saying that despite the fact that I have 2 GT-P5100 which I got barely at the same time. One got bricked and the other functioning well with TWRP. That leads to the weired mix of CWM 6.0.2 and cm 10. I will do more researches and will post here. Good luck.
I have the same problem to. But I have a P3100 and never rooted and stock rom. Can't flash only get fail in odin. Factory recover I ger error when I boot in to that. Only to get it to a service centre? Trying to put some pictures on it.

If you want to bring your device back to live, you should replace internal storage as it is got corrupted. It's a hardware failure. Nothing can be done with software. Sorry about that.

I thought I'd might contact the great Android Andi, but when you people told me that it is a hardware problem I backed off. It's just sad that Samsung do this to us. I mean that the Tab was just working great and all of a sudden it crashed like this. Really sad. I don't think I'd ever use a Samsung device again.

dude u flashed the kernel which was specifically meant to be for gb, not for jellybean, so this bootloop will occur definitely...jus flash stock and everything is fine then go for other roms and dont flash any other kernel.. jus flash the rom and gapps
use twrp recovery and your steps are correct...and use odin 3.7

Ultimate goal -to switch between JB and KK rom of one's choice
with a universal recovery -
with everything working normally in each OS, but without having to flash each OS via SP Flash Tools.====================================================================================================
Our beloved XOLO Q3000 basically comes in two varieties
1. with jelly bean 4.2.1 out of the box -
@avi3230 @rufus.reynolds @m0han @Aftab Memon @luke.rockstar
2. with kitkat 4.4.2 out of the box -
@chinasa @allan.vaz
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above goal is achieved with philz recovery on devices that came with jelly bean out of the box.
- tested by me & Aftab Memon
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those with kitkat out of the box facing issues with JB roms - camera not working.
My request to all the users specially those with kitkat out of the box
1. Please reply here so I will come to know which Os came with ur phone. I will add ur name to list.
2. Try following method so that we can find out solution to achieve ultimate goal.
===================================================================================================
Things required-
USB cable
PC/Laptop running windows Os
usb , vcom drivers for windows
SP flash tools v5.1420.00 or SP Flash Tool v 3.1420
Some knowledge about installing drivers and using SP flash tools
Kitkat S007_27052014 official firmware flash files.
[CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch recovery - 6.56.2 or 6.576.9 version
my backup app - to backup ur current data and apps+data.
Any jellybean based rom from here.
Any kitkat based rom from here.
Some patience and little thought process.
====================================================================================================
NOTE
This procedure has some risk of soft bricking ur device which can be easily cured.
Some knowledge of using SP flash tools is must.
Ur device's internal memory will be wiped while flashing - so please make sure u have backed up everything before doing anything.
A two-pronged approach is recommended - use "my backup app" and also do a full backup (the latter through recovery or mtkdroidtools).
No body is forcing u to do anything. If ur not confident then please don't try this. Stop right now and get on with life.
You alone will be responsible for any damage caused by ur impatience, ignorance, over smartness!!!!!
====================================================================================================
If u have read above notes carefully and ur agree with it please keep reading
Procedure to do-
1. Backup ur current data with my backup app
2. Also backup ur current working rom with current working recovery - in any case if any issue occur u can revert back to normal working state.
3. Install drivers (skip if already installed)
4. start sptools and load scatter file from S007 kitkat firmware folder. select everything (all boxes ticked)
5. switched off phone, pull out battery, reinsert after about 5 secs
6. connect micro usb connector of usb cable to phone. do not connect mini usb connector to computer yet.
7. in sp flash tools, press download and connect ur switched off phone with usb cable.
8. if sptools shows any error use firmware upgrade mode. this especially applies when you go from jb to kk.
9. wait patiently. firmware upgrade mode could take about 2 min 15 secs to complete. wait till the green circle confirms success.
10. reboot device and check all working fine - camera, sd card, audio
11. next step is to flash custom recovery. repeat steps 4 to 7 and 9. 8 won't be necessary. take care to select philz recovery alone (only recovery box ticked).
note: extract downloaded philz recovery in a folder. Select scatter file provided with it. In sptools only select recovery.
12. flash philz recovery with sptools
13. reboot in recovery and backup ur current rom
14. wipe data, format system in recovery.
15. flash any JB rom u downloaded.
16. boot in rom - check all working fine - camera, sd card, audio
17. reboot in recovery - backup this jb rom
18. wipe data, format system - install any kk rom
19. boot in rom - check all working fine - camera, sd card, audio
20. goto recovery and try restoring the roms one by one and check if all things working.
21. report any issue u got with mentioning step no. :good:
====================================================================================================
I want atleast 2-3 people with kk out of box to try this.
I cant test all this as i dont have such device.
If no one ready to try please dont complain about camera issue after flashing JB rom.

inadvertent error in step 8 - computer keyboard function key is f8, pl. note. this applies to spft v3.1328.0.
in newer versions download is ctrl+d and firmware upgrade (?) or format is f9. suggest you just click on the correct icon.

Avi,
Tell me something.. I currently run carliv touch recovery. With this, I'm able to with between jb and kk roms without having to sp flash every time I need to switch. Doesn't this cover your scenario?
I believe the last sp flash I did was kk ROM 27052014. Post that I'm just using CTR to switch between jb and kk Roms.
Please clarify if I'm missing something.
on a side note, if you can consider sp flash of kk ROM as a kk phone, I'm ready to test the process you've mentioned

1) what os your device came with 'out of the box' - build no.
2) which os you flashed your currently installed recovery from

Yeah dude,
can u confirm this
flashed any jb rom
backup in recovery
then wipe data, factory reset
flashed any kk rom
backup in recovery
now can u restore any rom from the backup taken
insuring all things work properly.
Will try and let you know
U can try this procedure with ctr also, as u hav it now.
We just need to know a recovery which can b a universal for both kk and jb
