[Q] OTG problem - Xiaomi Mi 4

Hi I got a Xiaomi Mi 4 on running on a Stable MIUI .24, plugged in a USB OTG cable and a USB stick (FAT32), however Mi 4 did not detect the stick. (USB stick = pendrive)
Then I've flashed a developer version of MIUI V5 (4.8.22), same problem
Went into Engineering Mode, OTG tests for detection and removal came up with this error " This test is not available in this version of MIUI".
Update : I may have gotten myself a lemon unit, the firmware for the OTG feature may have the output being of too little power to properly drive USB sticks. Some sticks have relatively lower power consumption which leads to the ease of being read by the phone. FYI inserting mouse and keyboards work well.
So I may need 1 to 1 replacement. In the meantime I may have to use externally powered USB OTG cables which defeats the point of OTG being on the go.

I ha ve mi4 and i got same problem. V6. Detected fat32. But not detected ntfs. İs there Any solution for this? I use v6. 4.9.19 developer version

Ive made a mistake, it was a somehow good detectable pendrive. But an exception rather the norm. Ive re editeed my problem statement there.
FYI Android does not support (natively) NTFS file format. You gotta root, in this case for MIUI flash a developer version and enable root and install something like a ntfs mounter.

i have Xiaomi Mi 4i unit i owned it for almost 3 yrs it has a very good performance but lately the usb otg support is not working it cannot read my USB OTG..I don't know what happened?

I have the mobile in s-off and with root permissions, MIUI had installed 2.2.17, and had no problem to connect the mobile to the PC and the mobile ask me if I want to connect as mass storage or just load. Until a few days left to ask me ... Mac thought it would be and the same probe in windows, restart the phone and nothing. I tried to install another ROM the CyanogenMod 7.1 and the problem continued. Now I'm back to the latest version of MIUI I think it's 24 and still have problems. I tried to format the microSD card from android and pc / mac but nothing. To say that from a file browser in android if I see all the files correctly.
I tried installing a version prerooted but the problem continues.

Have you installed the required drivers for your phone? Just install HTC Sync and it will do that for you automatically.
(At least for Windows - I don't have a Mac so i can't comment on that)
I tried with HTC Sync and nothing. I changed the kernel version of a saga tiamat 1.1.5 (before had the kernel 2.6.35.14-cyonagenmod + [email protected] # 1)
............ UP!!
Have you tried to mount as USB disk when in recovery?
Yes. Nothing

A friend once ran into a similar problem. It turned out to be luck had run out on his micro-USB port. A similar problem I once had turned out to be faulty USB ports on my laptop. I'd suggest you look into both scenarios.
*I'm saying it's likely a hardware problem*

If he tried to mount on other computers, with different OS, and still no luck, then yes, I guess it is definitely a HW problem.
@pasteles
Does the phone still charge?
I have the same problem with my TouchPad, no mounting as usb disk at all, when charger is connected the charging symbol comes up, but the current coming through the port is not enough to charge it. So I think the USB port has some faulty pins. In any case, faulty USB.
You can take a chance with the warranty or find someone able to replace the port.
i ran into this problem a few weeks back also and the problem was a faulty usb port and cable........ i changed the cable and reinstalled the drivers and i was back to a working usb

Right, I forgot the part about the faulty USB cable. Most often, it's actually the cable. Then the computer's USB port. Unlikely (and worrisome) is the probability of the micro-USB port of the Desire S having gone bad.

direct OTG cable will never work in atrix2, you have to use Y cable or powered hub to mount flash drive or any device like keyboard or mouse.
any how you have to give external power for mounting device in atrix2

No. It requires external power as before.

Ace 2 USB-OTG host mode

I've been looking for any info about Galaxy Ace 2 USB host for some time but I've found nothing useful so I'm starting this thread with some information I found on my own:
Ace 2 has Inventra HDRC USB Controller (HDRC = Highspeed Dual Role Controller). Stock kernel have the necessary drivers included. No need for usb_storage.ko so far (checked in '.config' from kernel sources from opensource.samsung.com. Ace itself does not contain /proc/config.gz). USB_OTG cable is detected by musb driver. It can be seen from the last line of /proc/MBUS. However host mode is not activated and that can be seen in /sys/devices/platfrom/mbus*/mode, it remains b_idle and VBUS is not turned on (no voltage).
Ace 2 contains some funny IC called FSA9485 USB Port Multimedia Switch Featuring Automatic Switching and Accessory Detection. According to the datasheet it contains internal charge pumps so Ace 2 should have everything for host mode. FSA9485 driver again detects otg cable according to dmesg.
Does somebody have a clue where's the problem? Why musb won't switch itself to host mode and fsa won't provide 5V power when they both detect the cable (pin 4 shorted to pin 5 (GND)). What is the relation between musb and fsa driver?
Btw. I have compiled working fuse.ko module so if somebody get the host mode working it'll be very little step to mounting external storage.
to the usb port is not energized, because of the limitation of voltage. for the same reason it is not possible acceleration processor. I think all problem of in file power_management.bin but I don`t know exactly
what is the purpose to mounting external storage while you can use usb utlities to connect to the pc?

ever try OTG?
many things can do with the OTG,
for some reasons you can mounting a HDD ext. or a flashdisk devices into our device and read what's inside from your phone.
else you can mounting a joystick either ps2 or ps3 (with a cable of course) into our device and playing with that. or etc.
that's mean Mobile. that's mean simple and more important is you will not carried your pc on your back.

[Q] Huawei Vitria Y301A2 otg host support?

Hi all,
I searched all over and could not find anything similar...hence a new thread. Being a novice, I have recently got a nice Metropcs locked Huawei Vitria. It seems a popular device with positive reviews among the prepaid community.
Has any owners out there happened to try its USB OTG host capabilities? Mine does not work and when I tested with apps (OTG status, OTG host diagnostics, otg troubleshooter) all say it does not have the usb host driver support.
When I checked the device I noticed under system/etc/permissions a xml, android.hardware.usb.host.xml is misisng. I tried to copy and paste one into the Permissions folder but failed, saying it is read only.
Despite it takes microsd, it is just disappointing to see such updated device is crippled with otg. :crying:
Anybody knows if it is just os disabled? Is hardware OTG supportable? Anyway or workaround to make it work? Would a root help?
Anyone?

Yeah, we know it's broken... it has been mentioned 1000 times this is broken in Marshmallow just like it was before the last Lollipop update, just have to wait for Moto to fix it.
There was one post where someone said they got it working in ES File Explorer and an external powered hub, something like you connect it with power, then disconnect power and connect the flash drive or something like that, but most people couldn't duplicate it. Google might help.

Nice... the US version does not work.
XT 1543, the Brazilian version does not work too.
Just to update my experience, today I updated from the last soak to the release Marshmallow on my XT1540. OTG works fine and I'm able to connect to my SanDisk 32GB flash drive. I've never had a problem with OTG in Marshmallow.
