[Q] Drivers not identifying HTC One M8..... - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hi, I am attempting to root my new M8 with the Toolkit method found here, http://theunlockr.com/2014/04/19/root-htc-one-m8-all-in-one-toolkit-method-video/. My issues arise very early on in the process when running "Step 3: Get Token ID." At this point, I receive this message, "error: device not found." So I assume this must be a driver issue.
Side note: I have developer enabled, I have USB debugging enabled, I am using stock data cable, I've attempted all 3 USB ports, I've already uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, I've attempted Kush's universal drivers, I've tried uninstalling HTC sync, and I made sure I extracted .rar files to desktop. Any more ideas?
Thanks, Jack

The Verizon HTC One m8 is not able to be unlocked via the HTC Dev website. If you are on 4.4.2 version, you should be able to use weaksauce or towelroot to gain root access. If you are on 4.4.3, you would need to use sunshine to s-off/unlock and then you would be able to root.

Just to clear things up, after uninstalling HTC Sync and reinstalling it that solved my initial problems. However, after making it to the bootloader unlock tool on HTC's website, I received the "Error Code: 160. Error Reason: MID Not Allowed." I now assume this what you mean when you say Verizon's cannot use this method? I used Towel root on my S5 so I'll give that a shot next. Thank you so much for the reply!!!

Htc one xl 2.40.841.4 root??

Hi, I am another noob on this forum and I have been looking around for a root for my htc one xl which was updated to the latest software version: 2.40.841.4.
I tried to unlock the bootloader through htcdev.com but it does no recognise the device after going through all those steps.
Can anyone please tell me how I can do this if it is possible. If not, is there anything I can do? I really badly want to root my device.
Thanks

Did you use X-Factor root exploit to change your CID first?
He doesn't have to xfactor
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

Yes.
I suggest the OP try to re-install the HTC drivers, try a different USB port, even a different computer, if possible.

Sorry for the very late reply, but I did install all the drivers correctly. Tried it on my linux laptop and windows desktop, but still no success. I read all steps clearly to. But nothing is happening
And again I am on the latest software. I coincidently updated it when I received it without knowing there will be no root or exploits available for the software version yet.
Oh keep in mind that I am updated to the latest default software update.

I think you are still misunderstanding. No exploit is needed for any version of this phone aside from the US AT&T version.
All you need to do is unlock the bootloader, than either flash SU or flash a rooted ROM, in order to get root.
If you are having problems unlocking the bootloader, try a different USB port, and keep trying. I believe some folks have had to do it several times in order to get it to unlock.
Is adb able to see the device at all?
It is evident that the OP needs to read the tutorials that are available more closely.
1. Before you proceed any further, please make sure (130%) that your ADB and Android SDK folders are configured and set up properly. If those aren't set up properly, then you cannot proceed any further. Good way to check is to type in "adb devices" when you think you have everything set up.
2. Go to HTCDev.com and follow the instructions there closely. Read them first, print them, read them again, then execute it step by step. This will allow you to get your unlock token to have your bootloader unlocked. Remember, this will void your warranty.
3. Once you're unlocked, go to TWRP's homepage and download the latest version of TWRP. Do not use CWM as it is not recommended for the HOXL. Once you have that, push it to your device through fastboot to have a custom recovery.
4. Find a ROM that is compatible with the HOXL and flash through recovery. Remember to make a backup of your current stock ROM, in case you need it later.
Those are the steps in a nutshell. Again, keep reading and asking questions if you don't understand something. As long as they're educated questions, you shouldn't get any flak from the members here . Good luck!
I tried that and adb does not come up with any recognised devices.

As long as the usb port on your computer is picking up the phone, this usually indicates that your drivers aren't up-to-date. Try running HTC Sync again to make sure there aren't any new drivers or even check for a newer version of HTC Sync.
It says that all my drivers are up to date already.
You can use www.htcdev.com now, I just unlocked my bootloader yesterday

[Q] Trouble unlocking bootloader HTC ONE X AT&T

Dear XDA experts,
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on my HTC one X phone for AT&T. My reason for doing this is i am no longer using AT&T so i unlocked the phone but i would also like to be able to use the wifi hotspot function which AT&T has blocked.
I followed this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671396 to accomplish the unlock but I'm getting this error when typing "su" in the adb shell command: /system/bin/sh: su: not found
127|[email protected]:/ $
I rooted the phone (AT&T HTC ONE X) using this technique : http://www.androidauthority.com/att-one-x-root-87398/
I'm a little new to all this so I would really appreciate any input.
Thanks a lot!
The Issue might be caused by your Firmware I Personally Recommend using Hasoon2000's AIO Toolkit which can be located @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426 ive tried it on 5 of my devices all One X and works without an issue. If you run into errors feel free to contact me

I'm really grateful for your reply, thanks for taking the time to answer me.
I was about to download the toolkit you mentioned but i noticed it says v2.0 and I'm running 2.2 is that still going to work ?
Also i before i read your post i had tried this technique :http://www.bestandroidblog.com/root...phone-on-2-20-firmware-with-x-factor-exploit/ which actually almost worked. What i mean is i was able to get the unlock token from http://htcdev.com/ but when i try to flash it to the device it just says "waiting for device" and i don't get the message on my phone asking if i would like to proceed with the unlocking of the bootloader.
C:\Android>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
< waiting for device >
The phone is on charge only mode and has usb debugging enabled.
Please help.

Yes all the Version Means is it's Version 2.0 for the ToolKit, You probably have the 2.20 Firmware on Your phone... any way yes the ToolKit Will work, as a Troubleshooting step, make sure that you have the latest fastboot Drivers for HTC, and those can be found @ http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe also check your device manager and make sure that your PC is recognizing the Device, it should say Android Phone --> My HTC, or something similar.

[Q] HTC sensation XE, ROOT problem..

Hi.
I recently started to see if I could root my phone, but no succes..
I can't seem to unlock my phone using the HTCDev site. When the CMD program try's to load the unlock.bin I get a error that the installation failed.
I would love some help here on how to bypass that!
I currently run the latest android that came with the phone, this would be my first time rooting.
It's not bought with a provider so that should't be a problem..
I would like preferably run Android 4.3.
Is there ANY good RECENT tutorial showing how to unlock my phone and root to 4.3? All other tutorials I found were not very well understandable..

I have to check firstly, do you have fastboot and adb installed on your computer and working properly? If not follow this guide: http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-set-up-android-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows-tutorial/
Unfortunately you cannot proceed any further without unlocking your phone. The instructions given in the HTC Dev website are very clear and precise (because you are trying to unlock an OEM phone, you MUST follow the instructions given in the HTC Dev website). If you follow the instructions correctly, you will be able to unlock your phone. Installing customs ROMs and Kernels only come after unlocking (and there are a lot of tutorials online that teach you).

[Q] Can anyone help with HTC One Root

Hi,
I have a HTC One M7 on Three UK.
I followed the HTC unlock bootloader instructions on their website and unlocked the bootloader, and flashed the recovery so that now my phone has TWRP. I then copied a superuser.zip file to the root of my device, and then using TWRP I installed it. Everything went fine.
I rebooted my phone and i had the Superuser app, but if i use the RootChecker app, it says my device is not rooted, but if i try to open any banking apps, they say "this app isn't designed to work on rooted devices" (which i would expect, i jailbroke my iphone when i had one).
So my first question is - is there anything i can do to try to fix this (I've tried doing the process again and no luck)
My second question is - Can i Unroot my device? Since i am now stuck without benefits of rooting, but also have to fall-backs of rooting as well (not being able to use certain apps). I would rather revert back. I have seen a post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823 which explains how to un-root my phone, however i am conscious that I don't know which stock ROM to download, it says you need to have one specific to your CID (I am on Three in the UK) so I can see the H3G CID numbers in the list, but when i go to the download page there aren't any H3G specific ROMs to download.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

[Q] How to root without wiping?

Im looking to root but without wiping my One S and I cant seem to get it. Towel Root doesn't work and neither does framaroot. Toolkit programs to do it via PC end up requiring bootloader unlock which will wipe the phone, but I simply just want to root. Htc QuickRoot tool says my phone is patched so that much im aware of. Im just wondering if any other methods have been introduced to help with this. Thanks.
I've been wondering the same thing, I don't have a pc so my options are none right now
