So I've been doing a bit of searching around and it seems like there hasn't been much movement on make the Shield Controller work on PC yet. So the question I'm guess is, what is it that makes it tick to get it to work? I see that it uses WiFi to connect the controller that part is obvious but when I plug it into my computer of course nothing happens. I'm guessing we first need to start with a driver development but do we start with development on the USB or WiFI.
I'm not the typical controller user when it comes to PC since I'd rather use a PS3 controller vs some of the other controllers out there. The NVIDIA Shield Controller seems really good to me in the time that I've used it. The touch controls can be a bit sensitive at times causing me to exit out of a game but I can live with that.
I'm shooting in the dark here as I have no idea where to start with all of this. I'm just hoping that someone can make it possible to use the controller on PC.
I expect that Nvidia will enable this via firmware upgrade for the controller sometime.
Interestingly it does work with other Android devices via USB OTG, despite what Nvidia presently state.

Well it works on linux without the geforce experience installed (which is not great as I want to stream from linux) but the controller is fully recognised with no updates
I haven't tested this but the way I got the drivers were from an update to my video card. If possible, maybe just download NVIDIA's latest driver set. I haven't seen if it'll just unpack the driver somehow.

I can pull the shield controller drivers from the gerforce .exe file but when I try and update the driver in system in windows it won't let me this is for amd not Nvidia its real crappy of them to make it only Nvidia in the first place anyways anyone who can help me port a universal driver for amd would be great
Sorry for reviving such and old topic, but I got a NVIDIA shell controller and I want to use it in Windows but I have no a NVIDIA GPU... Did the extration drivers worked?
Drivers work only with GeForce Experience... NVidia limited a lot of resources :/

I also hope for Shield Controller drivers...
Using the Shield Controller without Nvidia GPU
Some guy on reddit posted this: "You do not need an Nvidia GPU to use the controller. You only need it to upgrade the controller's firmware. I had my friend who has an Nvidia GPU and Windows, (I run Linux) plug in my controllers and update them. I think it takes about five minutes. If you can find someone who has Windows, an Nvidia GPU and GeForce Experience you'll be good to go. The controllers also don't seem to be "linked" to that specific PC; they work okay on my Linux boxes"
(I can't post links because I'm a new member, just google "shield controller on pc without nvidia graphic card"; it's the first two links).
I'm not sure if I believe this guy, but it might be worth a try. Has anyone tried it?
The controller works with stock microsoft controller drivers. (When nVidia's specifics measures to prevent this are removed)
Some guy made a pass-trough driver that will filter the part that make it not detected by microsoft's drivers.

So, like most of everyone with an HTC Sense based phone that does MHL out I have been trying since day one to play games on my big screen with my wii remotes as controllers. I have tried every combination up to date, and I can tell you that none of them worked.
That is until last night!
I installed the newest version of the stock HTC sensation rom repackged on deodexed by HdRevolution fam

There you go! have fun. I''m gonna go post this everywhere!
Can't wait to give this a try when I get home. Have you tried any of the other wii ime apps?
Thanks for the heads up.
I tried with one other app that actually told me that it couldn't connect to the device and didn't look like it was working. but I went right back to Wii Controller IME and started playing! Good Luck!
Oh myyyyyyyy......... I was actually hoping for something like this to give minecraft a shot.

I don't know about any other bluetooth devices, but you are free to try and post on the status of that in this thread.

Are you booted into the new Rom and using the correct Wii controller IME app? I am waiting for my buddy's Sensation to show up over here so I can fix his too. Then I will post again with my results. Make sure you flashed the required update to the phone listed in bright red above. Then full dalvik, cache, and data wipe. Then install Rom.
sorry i was referring to sixaxis controller.
i have never tried using a wiimote and MHL at the same time (i have used both separately though).. but i never knew there was an issue with using both at the same time? is it due to the bluetooth drivers?
also i cannot imagine using MHL to game with even if it did work with external controllers because from my experience the output through MHL has always been a bit laggy so i couldnt imagine gaming with it on current technology
I just tried the Android Revolution HD 6.5.2 and InsertCoin 5.1.5 and my MHL adapter works, but on the screen it says "Input Not Supported". (I use an Acer computer LCD with 1080p HD Resolution)
Could it be ROM related issues, LCD because it just works with HDTVs? I'm confused, the MHL adapter doesn't even have instructions.
I was able to connect the WiiMote on MiiUi and combine it with MHL too, (Works well with USB/BT Joystick Center in combination with emulators of older game systems.) however I have not yet been able to consistently use it with an N64-Emulator.
I wrote more about my many many attempts here:
miuiandroid.com/community/threads/pairing-wiimote-with-htc-sensation.16406/#post-123414
but it doesn't seem that anyone is helping there, maybe someone over here has an idea about what to do.
This will work on any device, but i made this for my Mini-PC.
Basically it's the Brighthouse app (BHTV) to watch Cable.
Mods
====
* Root check removed
* HDMI check removed
* Livetv_layout.xml changed the list_channel layout from 330 to 480dp (wider mini-guide)
* miniguide_row.xml changed to be bigger everywhere. Fonts increased, icons tripled in size. Result is about 3 times bigger guide. Nice size rows that you can see from your couch.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
Sorry, but I can't understand use of this app for everybody.

Hi guys, I will buy new smartphone, Stuck Between Xperia ZL and Google Nexus 5
Anyway, LG tells that Nexus 5 Have USB OTG, and if you Googled: Nexus 5 USB OTG, you will get apps to run USB OTG On Nexus 5
What does that mean?
should i have an App to use OTG? doesn't it work out of the box? i'm won't root
I Might Use Joysticks, Mouse, Keyboard, Ext HDD,etc. so i want everything to be supported
I've also heared about Nexus 5 Unmount Devices Due to High Power Usage even if the usage is low?
No you can use usb otg out of the box with nexus media importer its an paid app or root it to get full functionality.
Since u don't wannt to root better go with xperia zl.
Xperia zl supports it out of the box, u won't need any app on it
Now its your call.

I have also tried a wireless mouse and keyboard which work fine.
Game controllers are touch and go.
Ones that use the standard hid drivers should be fine but anything else (Xbox controllers etc...) Will not work as they need modules that haven't been built for the n5 yet.

No problem, man. Just try to not sound so aggressive next time. Mistakes happen.
So, I am currently a bit confused about this thread. Is it somehow possible on stock or not?
I recently tried the XBox One controller via cable on KitKat stock, but to no avail.
A wireless controller for PC isn't available until later this year, so I don't think this is a valid solution right now.
Xbox One controllers do not transmit data via USB ever.
The usb on the XBO controller is for charging only.
It is a wireless only controller as far as data is concerned.
You will never ever get usb to work because ghe controller does not have that capability with any system. It is an all wireless controller except fof charging.
That is why the guy who said you have to use a wireless pc reciever is correct.
Sorry there is no possible work around as the usb port doesnt physically support data transmission.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But it is news at all. It is good to know.
Has anybody tried the wireless XBox One so far?

100% untrue. Xbox One Controller works via USB on my Windows 10 computer, no additional drivers. I don't have any wireless adapters or Bluetooth installed.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case with android. Neither USB/Wireless will work without support from Microsoft.

You will find that windows automatically installed drivers for the xbox one pad as it did for me when i plugged it in. due to being a MS device it has its own repository to aquire the driver from and as such may of updated without you even noticing
EDIT: i stand corrected as of windows 10 the driver is bundled into windows, but there is still a driver, its just windows 7 and 8.x users that need to run a driver update to download them, again this would happen when they plug in the pad anyway

Inaccurate statement, you are just the bearer of in correct information
so all that is really needed is for someone to figure out how to port the usb drivers that windows uses for the xbox one pad (which is fully supported over usb on my gaming pc as well) to an android version. I am very tempted to scour the net for any such development already occuring, failing that i will mayb e develop it myself with the people who are developing on the Nvidia tablet who achieved root on it in the first place. I am considering buying one of these devices myself, but i may look to see if a newer version is in the pipeline anytime soon and if there is save my money for that one. if only they had a shield tablet x1 edition like the tv box
No need to keep quoting me.
I was provided and in turn provided inaccurate information.
I apologize.

Rakcoon is probably going to tell you a different way (or maybe the same way.. dont know we will see) but this is the way i did it.
Your phone must be rooted for it to be able to work with these apps.
First get Sixaxis Compatibility Checker if you havent. and check if your phone is even compatible at all.
IF yes get the Sixaxis controller app. it costs €1,94 but i'm sure you can get the apk somewhere for free.
