New update for boost k2 cl - HTC One SV

Downloaded the new ota for boost. I am s-off with unlocked boot loader and installed twrp. Do I need to go back to stock recovery and relock to install? Thanks

i get the same thing, guess I will wait and see what they say.....

@banderz777 and @biga1, If you are S-Off you do not need to relock the bootloader. If you are S-On then you must relock the bootloader. You will need to flash your stock recovery to proceed with the OTA, then after it finishes you may flash back your TWRP recovery.

I don't have stock recovery for jb 422 , where can I find it....

Inside the original 4.2.2 OTA zip will be another zip called, firmware. Unzip firmware.zip and you will find your stock recovery.

@ biga1 are you S-OFF or S-ON ?, or just try locking your bootloader and see, you do still have the unlock bin from HTC.

@Modding.MyMind I am S-OFF. I do NOT have my unlock bin from HTC anymore :crying:

The OTA is applying a lot of patches to your system directory. It is always recommended that you have all apps whether bloatware or not which originally came on the device to insure the OTA doesn't abort. If what the OTA is updating isn't found on your phone then it will terminate. You can get another unlock_code.bin by simply redoing the steps again over at htcdev.

I haven't accepted the update yet. Been reviewing the patches before I accept it. Also weary about the hboot image inside the firmware.zip that comes with the OTA. Not sure what affects it may have so I am snooping around a bit.

Ok. I feel better. You have been my barometer for this device. Thanks for all your support for the boost users.

I haven't yet simply because my core.odex file is modified which will cause it to abort. But, I have mainly seen complaints about the OTA and nothing otherwise.

I've updated....nothing special.....no complaints about it here......but nothing new either

One x Updating

If i am rooted and unlocked bootloader can i update via att / htc update option on the phone?
I am not running a custom rom i have original stock rom all i did to the phone was root it and unlocked bootloader.
Am i able to just update to latest firmware now? I am not so much worried about keeping root / unlocked bootloader as long as i can update and be fine.
you should s-off your phone or you will be bricked if you take the ota.
I never recommend ota ...if you want it you can download a version in one x dev thread

Just as long as you're s-off, otherwise the last clause should be "cry because you're bricked."
Yea, that too I was hoping he would follow DvineLord's instruction before mine.

What advantage is there to the OTA update? I'm running ViperXl and getting incompatible device error with some market apps. Will this fix that or should I just wait for next Viper update?

A custom recovery like CWM or TWRP should also cause the update to fail.
Okay thanks for the quick responses
Figured I'd add on to these answers.
Modifying anything will pretty much mess up the OTA's. As far as I know if everything is not 100% stock (besides S-OFF & bootloader unlock) then the update will fail.
Root your phone = failed update
Custom recovery = failed update
Edit a file in /system (add a line or remove a line or change 0 to 1 in something) = failed update
Etc
Can't you just freeze the Updater 6. whatever with titanium?

Yes, that will prevent a nag, but it would still allow you to manually update it in settings.
I'd follow what Andy said, then it's for sure unable to update

This is mostly true, but sometimes the overall update will fail but bits and pieces of it will actually pass. This is exactly what you don't want.
For example, a new bootloader would pass, but the system and the recovery push would fail. This could potentially lock your bootloader. It's still better to stop the update without giving it a chance to install, despite having root and a custom recovery.

It will cause it not to install, but won't stop the nag to install the OTA.
Can't you stop it by going into About/software update and unchecking auto download?
Thanks I wasn't sure. This is my first HTC (former Motorola fan). Even once the developers get ahold of the update and create a flashable zip for us do we still need to put the stock recovery back or flash the update.zip in custom recovery? I'm S-Off, BL unlocked and rooted with TWRP.

Once I saw this I was curious about that option. But every time I go into About/Software Update, settings crashes. Maybe due to Sense 6 Toolbox in my settings menu?
I'm not 100% sure... I am actually curious about all this too... This phone is the first and only phone I've ever unlocked/rooted/ S-off etc.... I'm currently running Venom Viper ONE ROM on Here and have neglected to flash the most current version bc it's based on 4.3
I'm still waiting to see how it all pans out... And clueless as to how to update kitkat once it does come through... Whether I can do it manually... Or if I have to go back to stock sense 6 so on and so forth... Guess we shall see

It's not going to update the rom, but it'll update your baseband and other firmware, you can package it in a flashable zip and flash it in a custom recovery or with the fastboot flash command.

I was rooted with weaksauce and it pestered me with the update relentlessly. Every time I turned on the phone I had to click a bunch of junk to get rid of it. Unfortunately I did not realize this was a full OS update, it just mentioned updating to the fancy charging thing and clicked "yes" to be rid of the annoyance. As soon as I clicked it my phone rebooted and I knew I was in trouble. Lost root and can't get it back without paying for sunshine. I'm poor!

[Q] 4.4.3 update

I'm rooted and have S-off and have twrp for my recovery and the OTA downloaded to my phone and set it to update in a couple hours and im wondering if this is going to mess anything up if it updates? Im completely stock btw. If it is going to mess my root/s-off is there any way to stop it other than installing a rom?

I just got done flashing the new OTA. I kept S-Off and bootloader unlock. In order to do this, you will need to flash stock recovery.
Flash stock recovery
Download 4.4.3 OTA in About > Software update > Check new
Install update
Reboot
Boot into bootlader and flash TWRP 2.8
Root
Just make sure you're S-Off and bootloader unlocked before you take the new OTA.

OTA hanging with stock recovery
I have reverted back to stock recovery (file downloaded from the link in this threat) but the OTA is still not working. After downloading, the update begins and I see the small icon of the phone with a green update symbol (two circular arrows). The green progress bar starts up, but then in a minute, it stops and the screen immediately jumps back to the stock recovery screen (phone icon with red triangle and exclamation point).
The process has run three times with the same result.
Can someone verify the md5sum of the stock_recovery.img file is d296a9a7289e10b2f04983e07409ee6c
Any ideas?

Not being on a completely unmodified stock HTC ROM is usually the case. Other than that this worked for me with no issues.

can someone upload a 4.4.4 system dump? or point me to one if someone has already? thanks!
I have looked around and found all kinds of different answers so can someone here help me out a bit?
I got the phone when it first came out, have S-OFF, root, TWRP custom recovery but have version 4.4.2 still installed with everything being left pretty much stock. I would prefer to keep things pretty much stock so what would I need to do to update to 4.4.4? Do I need to get 4.4.3 first? Do I need to flash stock recovery first before doing anything? Anything with firmware or radios?

Reasonable enough, sorry if this is another dumb question but I havent been paying much attention to these boards since I rooted, I see that recent phones require Sunshine to root, is that because of the firewater method being patched via a software update (4.4.3?) or some other manufacturer change that I shouldnt be concerned with if the old root method already works for me?

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159 and just flash the 4.4.3 with not boot img. YOu dont need to flash the recovery to accept ota's. YOu can just flash this and you will get the updated radios and h boot.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159
Downloaded OTA and updated, they added file manager and flashlight back ~!

Reasonable enough, sorry if this is another dumb question but I havent been paying much attention to these boards since I rooted, I see that recent phones require Sunshine to root, is that because of the firewater method being patched via a software update (4.4.3?) or some other manufacturer change that I shouldnt be concerned with if the old root method already works for me?

nope, if your already SOFF, you will stay SOFF. might break your root, but all you need to do is reinstall supersu when you put twrp back on

Then simply flash supersu 2.65 attached to this post for root.

Thank you for the quick work, I'm headed off to work or I would be attempting this now. Hopefully when I get back tonight I can update to MM with no problems. Thanks again for this
Possible to get the firmware w/o twrp? I'm running multirom.

Are these incremental updates from 4.17.605.9 or can they be flashed clean? Thanks for getting this up so fast :good:
EDIT: I'm sure they're incremental. Time to RUU...
Just FYI, for anyone who doesn't have an external SD, make sure you don't try to use the Marshmallow recovery to install the update... It's missing the "Apply update from phone storage option". Flash the 5.0.1 recovery found in dottat's RUU, and you'll be able to apply it from the internal phone storage.

Also posted a stock nand you can move into your backup folder and "restore" after flashing the custom firmware zip.
I havent done this in a while, but I am S-off and TWRP, do we start with the "Custom firmware zip that includes all M firmware and TWRP 3.0.0.1 " ? to keep twrp? Or start at the beginning and flash from there?
(I have downloaded all the files. Hoping for MM to work better then lollipop on my M8 before I throw it down the street.)
Used the custom firmware and flashed it through hboot.
Worked like a charm.
Thank you.
Now just need to remove that red text.

Looks like there will be a little bit of debloating necessary in order to make our custom RUU. Also, since this one is meant for s-off users only i'm not going to include stock recovery. I will include TWRP. This will enable users to fix stuff remotely and be ready to flash immediately after.
I am tossing the OTA updater, the amazon crapware, htc speak.
My phone is S-OFF and Rooted with TWRP
How wud you suggest me to proceed with this MM update (files you posted)
My requirement - It should be rooted and no Bloatware at all.

Do you mind if internal is wiped during the process? If so, you might like the RUU that i'm getting ready to upload

Thanks for your work, dottat. Can't wait to give this a try.
Allright gang.. had to attach the supersu.zip to the OP... this new systemless root will probably take some playing with to make work on an RUU. Since the RUU itself includes TWRP, simply download the supersu.zip attached to the OP and flash it normally in TWRP.
And BTW, you guys got the new emoji.
