Hello guys,
I got this annoying issue and it drives me insane
Here's the deal:
I have a Sensation XE for 2 years now and i use it as a spare phone, rooted/super-cid/S-OFF from day one and installed many different roms past 2 years.
My girlfriend needed a new phone and i just had a kitkat rom installed but it was still full of bugs so i thought......
Let's install a official RUU and get this sucker back to stock so my girl can use this phone for a while :good:
Here all went wrong
I downloaded the latest RUU (europe version) and relocked the bootloader.
I succesfully installed the RUU and rebooted the device.....i see the Htc bootlogo.....and that is it......after an half hour still the same
Did a reset in the bootloader, no effect...
Ok let's take another RUU and try again, this time i had to put the phone in RUU mode thru ADB, no problem....installed an earlier original ICS RUU succesfully.......rebooted and yeahhhhhh......STUCK AT BOOTLOGO AGAIN!!
Anyone any clue what goes wrong??
Now i'm @ Hboot 1.17 (after RUU) and S-OFF (doesn't matter right?)

after ruu installation change the cid to the original one
What has supercid got to do with this?
Cid is just a region check.....

try it
you have nothing to lose
edit:actually change it to the one corresponded to the RUU

Ok, so I was trying to upgrade my sensation xe's firmware for the installation of Android revolution HD, but unfortunately... I thought it had finished updating when it turned back into bootloader, so i rebooted and it stops at the beats logo and reboots. So I read once again all the instructions and it turned out that it hadn't finished updating. What can I do to stop the bootloop? I can factory reset and erase everything on it if i need to, i just got the phone so there isn't much on it.
EDIT: It gives me an error when i boot into bootloader and it tries to update with the PG58IMG.zip: CID is incorrect.
Maybe that's because i didn't superCID? I didn't superCID because the OP here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618 said "If you have Super-CID, it can be flashed even on regular Sensation (PG5813000)." So I thought that I didn't need it for the xe.
I had a similar issue when i first got my sensation. Can you get into bootloader? and if so does it try to update firmware again?
Yes I can, and yes it does, it gives me CID is incorrect. But now it doesn't bootloop, it just stays at the htc screen and doesn't move...
You obviously have the wrong firmware for your CID. Because you are not super-cid it means you have to have a firmware that is specific to your cid. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
This thread explains how to get the right firmware and find your phones cid but im not sure how youd go about it if your phone wont boot.
My CID is HTC_E11 i think. It had an 11 in it anyway....

You can try flashing the User Friendly Firmware from here - Do download the right file according to your CID/Location
Alternatively, you can always revert to Hboot 2.17 from the same link.
Well if thats the case, put your sd card into your computer if you can, delete the PG58IMG.zip in there and replace it with the correct one from that thread and let the bootloader update it. But before downloading one off there make sure you get the right version which for android revolution will be 3.30
Hope you manage to get this sorted.
Cid is incorrect.... see picture attached.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195475
have a read of this thread, the guy on there has made a list of CID's. He also put which phones and networks have which CID.
Unfortunately my cid is not there as I bought mine from egypt, but anyway I bought the phone unlocked.
have you tried flashing hboot 1.17?
I'll try it now.
Is it factory unlocked with no branding? and was that incorrect cid message when trying to update with the firmware from the link?
I think my problem is solved!!!! Thank you guys The firmware i had was the wrong version now i'm waiting for it to boot... it's taking a long time though...
I'll wait and just hope for the best... if it doesn't work i'll try to put hboot 1.17
If it has fixed your problem, it might be benificial to super-cid. Purely because each rom usually reccomends different peoples firmwares, and lets face it, better to flash the reccomended one and be safe. Plus with supercid you havent got to worry that it will do this again if you get the wrong one
It seems to be working as it doesn't give me the CID is incorrect error but now it doesn't boot, it just stays at the htc screen....
EDIT: I guess it's the right firmware because it doesn't give me the error, but it's not working, so should i try a restore?
Is the firmware still on your SD card? if so delete it then go into recovery and flash the ROM you wanted. the reason its stuck on the HTC screen is probably because the ROM that you are coming from cant work on the current firmware.
As sparx180 said, remove the PG58IMG file from your sd card or remove your sd card temporarily while you get into bootloader, then with your phone plugged into your pc change the cid to supercid, re-add the PG58IMG file or re-insert your sd card, reboot the bootloader and let it update. I had the same thing with the cid last night on my girlfriend's phone, bloody pain in the ass!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710 using XDA App
Oh and the restore is not a good idea if you are not on the same firmware version that you made the backup on. If you cannot get it to boot then you can always flash the firmware you were on before attempting this update and restore a back up and start from scratch.
So should i flash the rom first or supercid first? I'm coming from the stock rom...
Ok, so I've literally just bought the HTC Sensation. It was on 2.3.4 stock and I wanted to update to ICS. Unfortunately the ICS OTA update wasn't coming up for me so I decided to try do it myself
What I've done is S-OFF using the revolutionary tool (nothing else), then downloaded this stock ICS ROM, which supposedly is installed differently from other roms. Followed the instructions, and when it finished it gave me a 'ModelID' problem. I tried booting up anyway and now when my phone gets to the 'HTC, quietly brilliant' screen it plays half the splash audio and reboots, this is all it does continuously.
As instructed by that thread for people who got the ModelID problem I changed the ModelID variable in notepad, rezipped and tried the process again. Now it just loads up the FW, gets to 'parsing file' and goes straight back to the main bootloader screen.
Can anyone help me out? I really hope I'm now not left with an expensive paperweight
If it helps Bootloader now says

Hi,
Have a good read of THIS THREAD
It should help you out.
Thanks. What I gather from that thread is basically I need to flash back to stock.
I'm sorry for being a noob here but as I don't have Clockwork recovery etc is this going to be OK to do?
Do I need to superCID to flash back to stock? Do I need to root? I'm also not 100% sure on what ROM to download. I was a fool and didn't check versions before I flashed. It was 2.3.4 on 02 UK.
Most guides seem to explain how to flash custom ROM's but I'm not sure how much of that applies to me.
Again, apologies for the basic questions. I just want to ensure I don't want to mangle it anymore than it has and most answers I've found assumes other things have been done other than just S-OFF
Right now I'm trying to install clockwork mod, I've downloaded it, renamed it to PG58IMG, put it in my SD but HBOOT doesn't find anything to install/update.. Can I just superCID and then run the RUU_xxxx.exe to get back to stock?
Find my post in general will help you out I will bump it for you

Phew! Managed to get back to stock! Used the .exe for 02 UK.
However, now I'm installing ICS. I got into the boot loop again as I assume this is due to not updating the FW. I updated the FW to the one suggested and I'm downloading a different ICS stock ROM to install now.
If this does fail, or I need to get back to 2.3.4, what firmware would I download to back to original?
If you flash the.correct fw u shouldnt have any issues. U need to be supercid as well

However you will experience issues with 3.12 fw on ics roms. Almost all ics roms now require the 3.32 FW

Thanks all, now running ICS stock, fully rooted, superCID and S-OFF.
I tried to 'Thank' a couple of you but I don't think my post count is high enough.
So I'm still not 100% sure, what FW would I flash it back to if I needed to send it back on my insurance/warranty? Anyone know what the 'stock' would have been for an 02 UK HTC Sensation? (not beats). I'm such a fool for not checking these things beforehand.

Hi,
To get back to stock, you can flash hboot 1.17 HERE
I have also got THIS RUU for O2 UK.
I simply went to this thread (after reading so many others) and this was by far the easiest way to get ICS in my opinion.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542192
Hope that helps you
If you flashed the stock o2 UK RUU then you can't use the unbranded ICS OTA to get ICS. You have to wait on o2 to push the update for their FW version
HI all,
I have been playing with my Sensation XE recently.
Rooted it using CWM. No s-off as my HBoot is 1.29.
Couple days ago I installed Room Toolbox. Yesterday evening I attempted to do font change. When asked if want to reboot said yes and this is it.
Phone restarts, logo is there, vibration is there and it gets stuck on beats audio logo.
I have tried to look for related threads but no joy in finding any solutions.
I can not do Juopunutbear S-OFF (HBOOT 1.27.0000 with 3.32 ICS Firmware) because I am unable to run this software.
I can not flash a custom ROM because I am not S-OFF.
Any idea how to get it sorted as I am running out of options.
Help!
Please?
Pretty please!?
update.
I have tried to update PG18IMG.ZIP - no joy. (parsing)
can not change CID because ''can not find SMART_IO.CRO
my htc is HTC_001
PG5813001
Possible Fix? return to stock

I am back to stock now.
Unlocked again. Phone reboots slower though than it used to. I have a tick noise from camera lens side when pressing back button after taking a photo. dunno if its related.
I will be looking to s-off and mabe put a custom rom later on.
Need to save my GF HDD first as it crashed on me the other day...:crying:
Always Remember if you can get to 4EXT or bootloader it is fixable
I'm a new user to flashing roms. I read and read and read. The most important thing to have is that nandroid backup on a spare sd card in case you accidently format the card. If you can get to bootloader with a back up its almost impossible to brick your device.

I have encountered a problem when I try to update my HTC from Android 2.3.3 to ICS with HTC:s official RUU.
The phone was before rooted and S-OFF with revolutionary. I followed a video guide on youtube to make it S-ON again and installed a RUU which gave me Android 2.3 and Sense 2.1 I believe. After that I let the phone upgrade itself to 2.3.3 through HTC:s OTA.
Then I executed the ICS RUU europe version. At the first things looked OK. The program recognized the phone and the update started. Radio update went well and then it halted with the program standing at "sending..." (this I believe, is just before the actual update).
I had to pull out the USB-cable and remove the battery to turn on the phone again (which now was freezed at the HTC logo with the black background). Luckily it was no problem to boot the OS again. But of course it was still Android 2.3.3.
But when I boot into the bootloader it sais ***RELOCKED*** and H-BOOT 2.02.0002, look at the attached image.
I have tried several times to make the update again on different computers with different Windows versions but no luck. The latest HTC sync version is installed and I can no longer come up with ideas that takes the progress futher.
I little thing disturbs me though... Can my problem have something to do with the bootloader saing ***RELOCKED***?
Please help me
Hello,
Have you try to do the flash of your Desire S in Fastboot Mode ?
very strange
Rebooting to fastboot first didn´t make any difference.
Rom update utility still stops at sending. See attached picture.
What if I downgrade to an older H-BOOT?
The RUU update should take about 10-15mins and most often times stuck at sendibg. Just ket your phobe RUU itself for a 30mins and see if there's any change. If not. Try downgrading to least version then RUU to ICS

Already tried to leave the phone for about 30 minutes.
You mean, downgrade to the oldest RUU?
Skickat från min HTC Desire S via Tapatalk 2
download oldest one from here.
Sigh...
Then I have to go through the downgrade process again
How did you get on? I've got 2 Desire S's here with the same symptoms.
Finally solved!!
I have finally solved this issue with the update not going to the phone by simply using another PC running Windows XP.
I had a similar problem going to FroYo so Windows 7 doesn't seem to like HTC for some reason.
so i got a htc inspire the other day from my friend that soft bricked it... it whont go past the htc logo when it tries to turn on so i was wondering would a ruu fix this? if so how do i use a ruu? and how do i know wich one to get i found a hole bunch for the inspire but idk how to use them or wich one
any help would be awsome guys please !!!
ps if a ruu isent wat i need then what is?
Depends. Is the phone rooted? Is the bootloader unlocked? Is it S-Off? Is it running a custom ROM?
EDIT: and why on earth did you post this twice? Also, I'm having a rather tough time understanding your post.
ok well long story short... i got the phone from a friend ... it worked fine and i tried to restore it in hboot and after i tried it just got to the htc screen and can get past that..... idk if it was rooted.... its s-on
oops ment CANT get past the htc screen
What do you mean you tried to restore it in hboot? Does the hboot say "unlocked" or "locked" on it?

Was it running a custom rom? has an unlocked bootloader? Try flashing HTC lastest RUU for your device found in the HTC site under support and Inspire 4G. It is just for the US site...
To run the .exe file just boot in hboot, plug the phone and make sure that it says fastboot usb in red. If instead it says hboot usb plug, just press power to toggle to fastboot.
Then run the RUU...make sure that you installl the drivers first with the phone UNPLUGGED
Here is the RUU link: http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_inspire4g_att_RUU_3.20.502.52_US.exe
[i mean i whent into hboot and the restore option. and also there was no costom rom on it. so idk if it was rooted or not but from what its doing and what people say on hear im assuming it was... so plug it in in fastboot run the ruu and it will walk me threw everything?
ok well im going to try that ruu in a little bit anything i should keep an i on? i just tried to start the iuu and when i do it says preparing setup then it stops is that normal? and it closes itsself? ill be doing it on a diffrent computer this after noon but i just thought i would try and open ruu and see what happens is ruu a program or a auto run thing that only works when the phone is pluged in
