[Completed] [Q] Help! device does not boot to stock recovery - XDA Assist

I have a new lava iris 506Q about which there is no discussion on XDA ,which is rooted by me by framaroot. It works fine everything after root and using many rooted apps like system tuner, lucky patcher etc. But when I try to backup my device by ROM toolbox pro it state that there is no cwm recovery and reboots to my stock recovery where I can only backup the userdata. Then I googled for cwm recovery . And I got nothing about lava iris 506Q. So I think to flash iris 504Q's cwm recovery . I did this by using "flashify pro" android flashing app It flashed it and reboots.
Then I checked whether it is done or not. When I want to reeboots to recovery by pressing home+volume.+power key it does not boots to recovery mode rather it boots to normal mode. Now I can use my android phone rooted smoothly but I Lost my stock recovery for which I can not restore and can not go to stock recovery and my phone is now restricted.
Please help. I know it was my fault to flash wrong recovery. But plz help I don't have any stock recovery but I have stock ROM of my device and my device is now rooted.
What can be done????? Plz help

Hi,
I don't think flashing anything for a different device, no matter how close they may be, is a good idea. It can brick your device, or at least cause many problems.
You probably need to flash the factory firmware to restore your device hopefully... But I can't find anything helpful in XDA. You will need to ask for help here...
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Toy may want to contact the manufacturer about firmware for your device and flashing instructions also.
Good luck!
---------- Post added at 09:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 PM ----------
If your device is functioning fine then yes, you need the stock recovery at least. Again, try the manufacturer for it. But flashing full factory firmware should fix it also.

[Q] Backup firmware before flashing

Hi everyone!
Is there a way to backup current firmware before flashing to new one?
I want to debrand mine Ace (it's branded to T-Mobile) but it'll cost me warranty if someday something stops working. Tried to find mine FW on the Internet, but with no results.
Current FW's Version is: PDA: S5830BOKS3, PHONE: S5830XWKS2, CSC: S5830CROKS1.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
are you rooted ??
do you have clockwork mod installed ??
if not you must root the phone first this gives you superuser rights (same as administrator on windows)
after being rooted then you can download rom manager and flash clockwork mod recovery
after that is done you will boot into recovery by holding volume down and power button together and select nanodroid backup and back up your current rom and kernal and your entire os
here is the link and files you need to root your device
http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-ace-37385/
if you need any help while you doing it just send me a message on here ok
if it helps please hit thanks button or buy me a pepsi

One more thing..(noob question, I'm new with Android); you said I can "backup rom and kernal and mine entire OS".. Does the option "Nandroid backup" do it all, or there are other things I must do for backup all those files?
And last question (for now)..When I backup current OS, and reflash phone with another, nonbranded, how to restore that backuped OS? Just reflash my phone with it using ODIN, or what?
Thanks again
backup
Hello again no problem with the ? i try to be nice about it i wish i would have had more nice help when i started lol
when you do a nanodroid backup that will back up everthing you have on your phone when you do it apps settings radio os kernal everything.
when you if you decide to go back to factory for warrenty issues when you select nadodroid backup a sub menu will come up and say backup/restore you will just select restore and everthing will be as it was
if you have any other ? just ask.
please hit thanks if it helps
Can I copy all those backups to my computer and delete it from my SD card?
And, if I need a restore, just reflash my phone with "nandroid.md5" backuped file using Odin, or it doesn't work that way?
Thank you for all your help, nice to have someone who can help me on the start with Android modding

[Q] I can't able to boot in recovery mode after installing rooted jellybean

Hi Guys,
3 Days before i rooted my phone and installed the latest jellybean update from droidiser website(Title: How to Update Micromax A110 to offical jellybean) Sorry i couldn't able to post the website link. From this page i installed the clockworkmod flashablezip update.
After installing this rom i couldn't able to boot in recovery mode. As the instruction said in that page i have to clear the dalvik cache so i rebooted my phone and pressed the volume up, down and power button (the recovery options appears like press volume up to recovery mode, press volume down to factory mode). when i press the volume up button to go to the recovery mode a green android logo image or something appears and blueline processing under it and then my mobile rebooted and starts as fresh each and every time it happen like this i have tried this more than 10 times. After loosing hope in this method i installed Rom manager and when i opened it says please install custom recovery and gave the option to install and cancel. i pressed the install button in the next it show already clockwork mod is installed please choose one and i choosed clockworkmode 3.x+ something. after that i try to backup my current version by pressing the backup option in rom manager again the above process started and again it resets my jb. I can able to go to factory mode by pressing the volume down button. the only thing i couldn't able to do is go into recovery mode and take a backup or install a new rom. Please anyone help me.

Try flashing Stock ROM V2 back to your phone and then perform a factory/data reset.
Then root it and install CWMR through MobileUncle tool.
Now check if you are able to get in to CWMR or not. If yes, then you are done. You may now install any JB based custom ROM of your choice including an official V3 released by Micromax.
Please share your result here for others to refer (whatever it may be)

Yes, you can flash it with SP Flash Tool and Stock V2 ROM file from any computer/laptop running on Windows 7/XP. Doesn't detect device on Windows 8. Refer to the attached file.

Hi
Thanks for your help i will try this i have one doubt, instead of installing the same stock rom v2 can i install the suvi rom helios or jupiter and i want another help which one is best rom suvi ver 5 or suvi ver 6.
well i have tried flashing stock v2 from sp flash tool with stock recovery but it doesnt work. i am coming from jmpv8
It is advisable to First flash stock Rom V2 and then root your phone and then install cwm recovery.
After that you can install any Rom. Try LEWA ROM, it is not only faster but also stable and extends battery a lot.

No, you won't be able to flash your backup files from SP flash tool.
For Gaming, try using any ROM which is doesn't eat RAM just for good look and feel. There are many such available on this forum.
Ensure the whichever ROM you install, is V6 supercharged.
Try JMP V9.0, it will serve your purpose.
Thanks for that, i will try it.
Mmx 110 (recovery problem)
When I tried to reboot my canvas 2, the screen freezes in "SUPERFONE CANVAS 2" wordings. I tried again and again to reboot it, but the same thing happens over and over. Please help me.
Is this the first reboot after having installed ROM? If yes then leaves your phone as it is and it will come up after few minutes.
If this is not the case, you can solve this provided that you have CWM Recovery.

Yes you can install any ROM. But for that, you need to first root your phone and install latest CWM recovery. Then you can download and install any Rom.
SUVI has released the latest ROM, try it.

Damn, I just began experienced the exact same problem as the OP, however, I experienced it after quite a few reboots (I installed the JB about a week ago) unlike the OP
I was gonna start a new thread but noticed this one and hence posting my query here...
1) So guys, I just need to flash the Stock ROM V2 using SP tools, root my phone, Install the official MMX JB update and that'll do right?
Does my phone still remain rooted afterwards?
2) Secondly, is it possible to retrieve those apps and data that got wiped off my phone after it reseted?
I did save a nandroid backup once via CWM but that was long ago and quite a few new apps were installed after that
Thanks
BTW, somebody should report the bad release... What did droidser put in that damned thing?
Hi,
Thanks for your replay, it's worked i installed a new ROM but i have been facing some issues in Suvi 6 Rom. I will post it in SUVI Q&A Thread. You tole me to install JMP v9 Rom but i was afraid to install that because in their home thread they have given separate patches for apps and some instruction on how to install that ROM etc... Those thinks confused so i installed suvi rom v6.Thanks again for your help.

because he said that he can get to the recovery, but seems that he doesn't know what means recovery is
so before i say futher the solutions or what might causing the problems, it's better to know what he's knows first. because if i explain something that he doesn't know, things will be more complicated heheh

Actaully tried to upgrade to android kitkat 4.4 from 4.2.2
but error generated and even coundt restore the backup.
now the stage is, the screen never goes off until battery runs out.
the screen appears with android logo
"Android system recovery <3e>"
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
I tried all options, but didn't work.
even the tablet is not being connected with laptop.
so only option is, if reflash stock done from SDMemory card ?
kindly guide me the suitable steps.
You can't just flash kitkat roms directly from stock recovery,, you need a custom recovery to do that,,, here is the work around :
1 first reflash stock rom again
2 secondly flash a custom recovery from odin ,,, use luigi way of one step recovery and root
3 after that when you are able to boot into custom recovery, make sure you have cwm recovery >6.0.4.5 installed otherwise you will not be able to flash kitkat roms. For the record, you can flash phillz recovery 6.19.6 from custom recovery.
When you are done, please come here again

I was trying to install a custom rom on my phone yesterday. I made a backup of my system using the phones recovery mode. After that i tried installing the rom, but i was told that i can only install the rom with clock work Mode (CWM) installed on my device. So i installed the CWM and went ahead to install the rom. As it turned out the rom was not compartible with my phone so the phone started bool looping (freezing at manufacture logo). Sensing danger i went back to restore my old operating system using the backup i made earleir only to realize that i couldnt install it. That was because i made the made the backup using the recovery mode of the stock rom and as such CWM could use that backup. Now am stuck with a soft bricked phone.
I have a few choices.
1. Get CWM out of the phone and use the recovery mode of the stock rom to restore my system.
2. Install a compartible custom rom on my phone and take off from there.
Can anyone help me out with a way that i can get back to the recovery mode of my stock rom or better still how to remove clock work mode from the phone.
Or alternatively a custom rom that will work with my phone. Am using a mediatek device and after searching for some time i have realised that there are very few roms out there that actually work with mediatek devices. If anyone can suggest one for me, i would be very grateful.

As IDK what kind of backup you made on the "stock" recovery, you should try to flash a compatible ROM for your device.
Have a look at this one: Xperia Honami ROM For all Mediatek 6572.
But you need to boot into the custom recovery for flashing it.
Next time create the backup with CWM or TWRP recovery. Then you can restore it in the corresponding recovery again.
Thread closed. Thank you.
