Hello everyone,
I have bought various Android TV boxes in the past, and haven't had problems getting them up and running.
I recently ordered 2 chinese models from eBay however, which are giving me nothing but grief. I apologize in advance for such a loooong post, but I am at my wits end and I am really hoping someone can help me out.
The action was for this model here:
www.ebay.com.au/itm/231275032090
It appeared to be a pretty standard model, like a Justop 4.0, but with a hard switch where the optical should be, and a cut down remote.
Firstly, the Specifications according to the auction:
1GB ddr3
4GB nand flash
Allwinner A20 dual core 1GHz CPU
On closer inspection after receiving the unit, an additional physical difference is that the reset button appears to be between the USB ports, instead of behind the AV out - not a big deal.
After powering it up, I am having huge problems with them.
Firstly though, what the software says about the hardware:
Advanced Settings/About Tablet:
Model Number : BBA22
Android Version : 4.2.2
Firmware Version : V2.0
Kernel Version : 3.4.39 [email protected] #10 Wed May 14 22:36:36 CST 2014
Build Number : BBA22-UI4-V2.0.1
And what Droid Info says about the (relevant)hardware:
Model : BBA22 (sdk-normal)
Manufacturer : unknown
Chipset : sun7i
RIL version : sw-dataonly-ril-0.5
Build Number : BBA22-UI4-V2.0.1
Build Bingerprint : softwinners/ninss/ninss4.2.2/NinssSoftware/20140521:eng/test-keys
OS Version : Jelly Bean MR1 (4.2.2)
SDK : 17
CPU Architecture : ARMv7 Processor rev 4 (v71)
Now, the BIGGEST issue these things have, is that at random points of use, it comes up with a message "Warning - System configuration is inconsistent with the production configuration, please contact your supplier, thank you!". This message will flash over and over again for anything from 30 seconds to half an hour. I half suspect it has tablet code SOMEwhere in it also, as it keeps coming up with 'touch the circle' walkthroughs for applications like avia. This might be unrelated though, I have no idea.
So anyway, I have tried doing the Justop 4.0 flash method with a SD card, however it will not turn on if there is a card in the slot. Also, when you hold the reset button down and power it up, it does not seem to go into the diagnostic mode so I can't flash it that way either. I am guessing the ONLY way I can update short of soldering in a serial port, is to use the backup/restore function.
I read through this whole thread here, but cound not fine anything to help me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398632
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, I seriously can't get anything to work. I thought maybe the 'hotspot' being enabled was causing the incinsistency problem, but I used a process killer to stop that at startup, still no luck. Doing a system reset through advanced config didn't help either, I got the error almost as soon as turning the unit back on.
I've attached pictures of the error I am getting, the top of the board, and the back if the board.
Cheers,
Smak
PS - I am yet to hear back from the seller, but if I ever do, I will post the result here...

I seem to be in a very similar situation. My device also reports as being "BBA22" but it's a different form factor and the identification on the board is "TXCZ_A20_v1.0". I tried contacting the people that made the board (Shenzhen Tianxing Chuangzhan Electronic Co.) but they refused to help. I also tried contacting the company that made the firmware images (Shenzhen NINSS Technology Ltd.) and they also refused. The supplier I bought the device from says they have the image file but they can't seem to figure out how to get it to me (they tried emailing the +200mb file then they gave up and stopped responding). The build number on my device is "BBA22-UI4-V2.0.4" so apparently there's an update available that may work on your device.
I'm pretty sure you need to flash the image using the Phoenixsuit program to make a special sdcard that you place in the device and boot from to reflash the device.
Please post your image file if you ever get it!

That is good to know, I might email them again now. Will let you know the outcome!
OK, so I got a reply from the seller.
I've attached the patch file and the instructions to this message, but theres a few things to note.
- Its only like 20 meg big, so it isnt a full firmware update
- The instructions talk about pressing the reset button at the start.., I don;t think this is neccesary if its rooted already
- The instructions are VERY engrish-y, basically just dump the update.zip onto a sd card, and apply the patch through the settings menu
- The default language is changed to some form of Chinese after applying, theres plenty pictorials on how to change the android language though.
- The version has been updated from BBA22-UI4-V2.0.1, to BBA22-UI4-V2.0.3 - This is still lower than the one you mentioned @ BBA22-UI4-V2.0.4
So far though, I have re-installed all my apps, and haven't seen the error.. yet. I was a little concerned it is still giving me touchpad tutorials, but mouse mode on the remote is making short work of those.
I'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

That seems very promising for you! Unfortunately it probably won't help me at all... It sounds like it's a sort of update patch instead of a whole image. Starting the device with the reset button causes it to load the recovery partition instead of the regular partition (I'm guessing you saw a green android with a text menu with options for recovery). I full flashing would/could involve an SDcard, but I think you would have to create it with Phoenixsuit and not just copy the file contents over (it would then just boot directly from the SDcard and you wouldn't need to press the reset button).
In my case, both the regular boot partition and the recover partition are wrecked so I couldn't even try this patch if I wanted to.
Thanks for posting, though... Hopefully it helps someone else out.

Hmm, is clockworkmod still a thing? I could try taking a backup of my ROM and see if that's something you can use.., only problem is I will need a bit of time. If I get a chance, I'll do it over the weekend. I will need a place to dump the image though, it will be too big to attach here, can sort that out later though.

I'd appreciate that... Your board seems to have a completely different layout, but all the same components. I'm not familiar with clockworkmod, though, so I'm not sure how that backup would work. I guess I'd need to get clockworkmod flashed on to the recovery partition first and then I could flash the backup to the NAND from there?

I'm not actually too sure. The last timed I used clockworkmod was for flashing a galaxy s2 phone, so I'm not even too sure if its still around or compatible with tv boxes. There will definately be SOME sort of tool though, that can take a full backup suitable for restoring. I'm about at the limit of my knowledge, so I am sort of playing by ear and going into a google-learn-try sort of cycle as I try different things. Maybe someone with more experience will stumble in here and let us know what we need to do
This is interesting... I found another device with an identical PCB board: YBKJ_A20 (I can't post links yet, but a Google search will find it) Several chips are different so the firmware would differ. It's so hard to work with these devices when no one claims credit for making a lot of these things!
What is J4?
http://dl-1.va.us.xda-developers.com/2/9/3/6/8/3/3/DSC_0207s.jpg
I was wondering what the upper left 2 pin connector is for? (the little white 2 pin plug next to the USB)
Is it SPDIF? Power input? output? Something else? I see in this picture a cable connected so i'm hoping you can tell.

So... For everyone looking for a full firmware for this box, and stumbled upon this thread from google like I did: DESPAIR NO MORE.
I found a compatible firmware for this device (exacly as described and same board as the one OP has) It will work even if your box came preinstalled with another software version, but its the same hardware
Found it in another thread, posted by @daaviles30 Its not EXACLY the same as the one I had originally loaded but appears to work without any issue whatsoever (even the remote works), if a little bit better.
So here it is:

Wow.
The Phoenixsuite makes an sdcard that flashes the internal memory. After it's finished flashing, you take the card out and it runs off of the internal NAND. That's it. It never runs the Android from the sdcard.
My device can boot from sd-card!!! I need to flash this to install your android!

Since there isn't much information (in English) about how to upgrade the Zopo ZP100 phone to ICS I've now done it myself (after reading a lot of Russian forums using Google Translate I finally took the plunge into the deep end of the pool and just did it).
Files needed
ICS ROM (b79):
http://narod.ru/disk/48456521001.ee...T75_h932_b79_pulid_sw 20120428-14151.rar.html
Root:
http://files.dangerd.org/pub/ZP100//zopo zp100 4.0ROOT by008.rar
Flashtool:
http://narod.ru/disk/44888871001.ee...6c3e795/SP_Flash_Tool_exe_v3.1206.01.zip.html
USB Drivers (and a flashtool I didn't use):
http://chinamobiles.org/downloads/zap/ZP100fix.zip
CWM Recovery:
http://files.dangerd.org/pub/ZP100//recovery.img
First of all: Make a note of your IMEI-number(s)
Download the files and unpack all (in seperate folders).
Shutdown the phone and plug it in via USB, Windows will search for a driver which you find in the package ZP100fix.zip (different inf-files depending on windows version).
Unplug phone, remove the battery.
Replace the recovery.img from the ICS ROM with the one downloaded seperately.
Start flashutil.
Load Scatter-file: MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc2.txt
Make sure that Options -> USB Mode is selected.
Click Download
Connect phone (still with no battery, at least I had to leave it out).
Flashing begins.
When all is done it displays an "OK window".
Now reboot the phone and when booted connect to USB again and run Root.bat from the package: zopo zp100 4.0root by008"
Follow on-screen instructions.
I did not need to install any separate Google Apps, it was included in the ROM.
Now you need to add some IMEI-numbers to your phone.
In the original ROM I could only ever see one IMEI for my zp100, so I wrote that down.
IMEI2 I took from an old Nokia I hadn't used for a few years.
Use terminal app or adb shell or whatever to execute the following (replace IMEI_1 and IMEI_2 with your IMEI's):
echo 'AT + EGMR = 1,7, "IMEI_1"'> /dev/pttycmd1
echo 'AT + EGMR = 1,10, "IMEI_2"'> /dev/pttycmd1
Update: Zopo IMEI Tool in English can be downloaded from here: http://depositfiles.com/files/wi41lcuvb (should eliminate the need for the terminal-hack above). If the system language on your phone isn't set to English the utility will be displayed in Chinese by default, so setup your phone to use English before running it.
If you want your external sdcard mounted as /sdcard (/mnt/sdcard) instead of /mnt/sdcard2 you have to replace the /etc/vold.fstab with the following:
http://www.cactuz.net/files/zp100/vold.fstab
Use root-explorer (make a backup of the old one) to replace it, then shutdown your phone and remove the battery, then plug it all back in and start again and your external sdcard shoudl be mounted on /sdcard (/mnt/sdcard) instead.
Hope this helps.
I'll report back here with any bugs etc.
To use RecoveryMod I have to chose it from the menu in MobileUncle Tools or ClockWorkMod Rom Manager, I have not been able to boot to CWM using VolUp+Power.
Some of my favorite apps can't be downloaded from Google Play Market:
Vignette
Endomondo Pro
Snowstorm Weather Widget
GPS Status
I have been able to restore them all using MyBackup Pro and they are running fine, they just aren't compatible according to Play Market.
So any app you really need is good to make a backup of using MyBackup (or Titanium or any other backup app of your choice) so you can restore it if it can't be installed using market after the ICS upgrade.
Note that all these apps can be installed fine on my other devices using ICS (HTC Desire with CM9 and Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 with CM9 or AOKP) so it's this ROM that is the issue AFAIK.
Thank you ... I'll follow up in a couple weeks
Ordered my zopo yesterday (for the second time -- waited 2 weeks from the first store (merimobiles) and then cancelled when they still hadn't shipped it. Hopefully I'll have better luck this time.)
I appreciate you posting this info and will try it out when I get the phone.
Good luck Dave,
I ordered mine from etotalk.com, got it in about a week with DHL used for shipping.
I've updated the first post with some more info in regards to RecoveryMod and mounting external SDcard as /mnt/sdcard (/sdcard).
Since I use this phone daily I will probably not experiment much with it until any new official release is available. But the current one (b79) is good enough.
There are quite a lot of crappy chinese apps (crappy since I don't know what they do and they aren't translated into a language I can understand) installed with this ROM bit they can all be removed using the normal App-menu in the system settings.
imei no.
hello, u said that u have write the imei no. of old nokia phone which u don't use. i want to know that can i also change both the imei no. as i m from india and in india only valid imei no. works, and i m planning to purchase this phone but i am afraid that if the imei no. are not according to india then it will not work so i just wanted to know that if i write my old dual sim phone imei to zopo zp100, will it work without any problem.
rohit: I can't say for sure if the phone actually reports two IMEI's to the service provider, but at least it displays two IMEI's when I check "About phone" in the sytem settings.
Sorry I can't say if it works or not in India.

ZP100 and ICS upgrade experiences
Hi Guys,
I bought the ZP100 1,5 weeks ago from etotalk.com.
After 1 week i tried to upgrade to ICS about this and Colonel ZAP's description.
My experiences with the ICS upgrade:
When i received the phone, on that was etotalk v1.0 firmware.
It is a very good customized rooted ROM, works fast and it has just some minor bugs.
The only problem was, it could only read the internal storage, when i insert an external SD card. It was strange, but i accept it programming defects.
I downloaded the official 2.3.6 and this B79 ICS, VCOM (Flash) drivers and the flash program.
At first, i downloaded the ClockWorkMod Recovery for chinese phones.
Unfortunately it is make a factory reset on the phone, but after you customize it, you can make full backup about your ROM.
IMPORTANT! Copy the backup to your computer, because the ICS ROM formatted my external SD
This is very recommended, because...
At first i installed the linked B79 ICS ROM.
The default language is chinese, but it contains english, so if you know the android, it is not a challenge to change it. It couldn't read the internal memory neither, just after format it.
It wasn't rooted, and deleted IMEI. When i tried to root (different way as 2.3.6, need USB debug mode and ADB) the Windows doesn't recognize the ADB driver. The driver wasn't in Android SDK, and i can't download it (i haven't tried it on Linux yet). For a moment Windows showed it found HTC Dream device. I downloaded HTC drivers, but it didn't work with it neither.
Without this you can't restore the IMEI.
Ok, go back to the official 2.3.6.
I flashed it back. Almost the same effects. Default chinese language, the internal memory cannot readable. I could root it and install CWM recovery back.
Basically it doesn't contains Play store, but you can install it.
The ROM full of chinese programmes and my experience was it is very unstable.
I uninstalled the chinese programmes, and installed Play store. When i wanted make a call, the phone restarts. The Google Play Store froze every time.
Finally i restore back the etotalk ROM, and i use it.
Maybe if i have time/mood i will install the official ICS, but about my experiences i have doubts with it.
p.s.: in about 30C outside temperature i used the phone (installing programmes). After 10 minutes using it sings that the battery is too hot, remove it from the phone.
Is any other better quality battery what is compatible with this phone? thanks
---------- Post added at 10:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 AM ----------
Hi jbctiong,
I used CWM recovery 5.5.0.4.
Just carefully, because it make a full factory reset.
And you need to insert an external SD card

I download 2 files (http://www.zopomobile.com/xiazai.php) this morning but i don't know how to install it and afraid there is only chinese language
MP_MT75_h932_h5500_zwx_20120419-203646_ZYQ_PC.rar
ZP100_20120510new4.0.rar (think is the last android version)
I flashed ROM very often on Windows mobile samsung phones i900 and GTi8000 but i don't know Android (just install Android as 2nd system on GTi8000 Samsung). Hope someone can explain me what to do to improve the basic system
Other problem : sometimes i have no network on the 2 SIMs, all stop. I must stop and reboot the phone. Has somebody the same problem ?

What is the ClockWorkMod Recovery for chinese phones.
WHy you needed it ?
Now we can download the 4.0 official
Somebody try it ?
hello carabaothai,
I used it for backup/restore my ROM.
But you can use nandroid backup too.
Sorry for my abscence from this thread, I've been busy all weekend actually tuning a car instead of my phone
buntybauva: I've got no problems with USB Mass Storage, could you explain what problems you experience?
I made a nandroid backup of the old ROM, but I haven't used it so don't actually know if it works.
rohit: I ordered mine from etotalk.com
carabaothai:I forgot to mention that the ICS-rom I linked to (and flashed myself) is in Chinese as default, but can be changed to English using the System Settings, luckily there are icons in there so you can find the symbol for language (hint for anyone who doesn't know: It's an "A").
ICS = Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0)
I have not experienced problems with loosing network on the SIM cards.
jbctiong: I had not tried any nandroid backup/recovery yet, tested right now and it doesn't seem to be able to actually do any backup. Some mount errors for sdcard.
vzzoli: Thank you for sharing your experiences.
I agree that the etotalk-ROM is quite good, but I always want the latest stuff on my gadgets
I have not had any issues with reading my sdcard nor in etotalk-rom or in the later ICS-rom.
The ICS rom did not format my external SD. But one should always make a backup of course (I backup my SDcard before every flash I try).
One bug I found in the current ROM is that the Cam/Videocam-switch on the phone doesn't make any difference what position it's in.
I'm going to see what the russian forum says about the official release, I'm quite happy with the one I'm currently running so no real need to change, but there could be performance reasons to change or maybe something else.
I downloaded to the "official" ROM and updated my phone
I think this is the same ROM as B79, just renamed the version.
Remove the IMEI, not rooted, other MTP driver needed etc.
@cactuz:
What operating system did you use for root the phone?
I'm using Windows, and the new official ICS ROM wants different ADB drivers than the 2.3.6.
Without this, i can't root it, and restore IMEI.
Buntybauva's mass storage problem maybe that the Windows recognize the ICS phone as media device, but can't mount as usb mass storage without a third party program
vzzoli: I used Win7 32bit when I rooted the phone, used the scripts supplied in one of the links in my initial post.
When I restored the IMEI I used Linux since that is my prefered choice whenever using ADB.
I can't check right now what version because I've apparently forgot my VPN-password so I can't connect to my computer at work
Does the camera-switch work for changing between Camera and VideoCam on the new official rom?
hyy
after ics upgrade is anyone facing problem with gps lock?
buntybauva: Not worse than before, the GPS was terrible for me before as well as after (but I do get a fix after quite some time). Though some of the guys on the russian forum has modified the antenna as far as I know.
Maybe DangerD could help us out because I think he has been involved in it.
Yeah yeah, noob question! Prepare to verbally pants me.
Just bought a iView 756TPC tablet from the egg. Works pretty well some issues and chinese bloatware. Anyhow, want to flash this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760929
Only problem is I don't know whether to try the MOMO9 compatibility patch or the LY-F1 patch. Only differences I can find are I have 1GB DDR3 not 512MB DDR2. Both are almost identical hardware. I am leaning towards the LY-F1 b/c my buildprop shows Broncho which is listed as a clone of the LY-F1. I have googled a ton but it seems this thing is pretty new. You'll prolly find a few of my threads when you search and not much else! There is some info on the 760TPC which is from the same manufacturer. So basically I am confused as possible. I pasted some specs I exported from the systeminfo app. Hope that's enough to go on. Go ahead and rip me a new one.

Why yes, yes you can!
Got ClockworkMod Recovery working. Only issue is my buttons don't work. I have to use adb to initialize the recovery as well. Cannot hit the "back" key while in recovery mode but as long as you do everything right that's ok! I just flashed the LY-F1 version and it is SWEET so much faster than the stock ICS rom that came with the 756 from iView. However, my back, menu and home buttons don't work. They are not hard buttons but rather on the touchscreen part, probably related to why I can't use them to boot into CWM recovery too. The screen flickers a bit as well, but looks like with some tweaking I can get this baby running CyanogenMod9 :victory: Any other iView 756TPC users need some help getting going, it was not easy... let me know!
I'll just keep talking to myself!
OK, well neither of the compatibility patches will work with this tab so I guess I'm on my own. Oh well, I think I have the key mapping figured out and know i can easily change the lcd density so I can fix those no problem. It's including all the modules in the system/vendor/modules/ folder I am concerned about. There are a ton of those and I guess I am just not sure how they work and if I will have to customize the install script to include them in the existing patch. A lil' help would be splendid. I modified the existing Momo9 patch to include the updated key mapping and modified the script that changes the default cm9 lcd density, but I cannot get clockwork to execute my zip. Do i have to zip it up a certain way? I also added the vendor modules in the appropriate location inside the new zip, but I was not sure if I needed to add some scripting to copy them since there is no vendor folder in the existing patch i am modifying?? again if anyone is reading this I would really appreciate some kind of response!:fingers-crossed:
Thanks!

Yeah, I had bought 2 of them. One of them suddenly had a pixel die, then the screen became unresponsive so I RMA'd them and bought a Samsung Galaxy 2. I could not figure out how to get the extra buttons on the touchscreen to work. I successfully remapped the volume buttons to serve as menu and back until I figured out the touch buttons. It must have something to do with a module for the touchscreen itself. I was going to try and insmod some modules (there are a zillion of them in the vendor module folder in the stock rom) and see what happened, then the pixel died and I said forget it. One thing I wanted to try was using a gingerbread rom for the 760TPC and see if it improved performance, but obviously never got around to it. The stock ICS Rom from iview was sluggish, especially compared to CM9 which the tablet ran admirably I must say. Anyways good luck!
One more note, to answer my own question just in case anyone else had it....
For some reason CWM did not like my winRAR zip files. Zipping them with 7zip default zip settings seemed to remedy the situation. I was able unzip the patch modify files using Notepad ++ and re zip with 7zip. CWM then would execute my patch just fine.
@RedForestStudios. Thanked you for each of your posts. You have given me some hope that I will be able to get CM9 on this little tablet. I didn't need it. I only bought it because I couldn't say no to the price. Any chance of detailing how you got CWM and CM9 on this? Did you use the method for the 760TPC?
I see you said you didn't get the buttons working. I'm assuming that was in CM9, correct? If I can get CWM on it I would be happy using ADB or QuickBoot to initiate it.
Does anyone happen to have a backup of the stock rom? i have searched the corners of the internet trying to find it as mine died on my second day of owning it but could be fixed with a flash of the stock rom. If anyone could help i would be very thankful

Iview has posted this full update on their site. Although I have yet to make it work. If you can get it to work let me know.
Their website is www<dot>iviewus<dot>com. Go to the dowloads page. Replace my <dot> with .
Spoke too soon
It looks like IviewUS has pulled the image. That may have explained the problem I was having after getting LiveSuit 1.09 to work.
From Iview
Iview says they are rebuilding their image file and the rewriting the instructions to the CyPad 756TPC. It should be posted in a few days.

Good to see some activity here in this thread. In case anybody wants/needs it RedForestStudios kindly gave me what he had before he returned his tablet. Sadly, I am too busy/lazy to learn what to do with it. If anybody wants it let me know. Meanwhile I'll reach out to him and make sure its ok.
What his zip included:
• cm9 – CyanogemMod 9 from XDA for AllWinner A10s
• CWM Recovery 5 ICS – CWM for AllWinner A10s (I think there might be some stray .ko and .kl files in their you can just delete)
• iview ICS – The stock rom from iView
• momo9_compatibility_1.2.0 – Don’t know if this is my modded version or not, cannot recall, you can easily find out by comparing to the original
I contacted the OP a while back and he provided me with some stuff he had and accomplished. Perhaps somebody who has one of these could use this to aid in dev? I am to busy/lazy to learn how to do this at this time.
I contacted him again today and he has agreed to allow me to pass it on should someone want it.
Included in zip:
• cm9 – CyanogemMod 9 from XDA for AllWinner A10s
• CWM Recovery 5 ICS – CWM for AllWinner A10s (I think there might be some stray .ko and .kl files in their you can just delete)
• iview ICS – The stock rom from iView
• momo9_compatibility_1.2.0 – Don’t know if this is my modded version or not, cannot recall, you can easily find out by comparing to the original
Also some notes from RedForestStudios:
Couple of notes, first make sure to use a text editor like notepad++ to edit the files unix/linux do not like the extra linebreaks or spaces windows typically inserts. If you happen to be using a program like dreamweaver to edit these make sure to turn on the unix compatibility mode in preferences, default is windows I believe. I think I was about to start insmod’ing modules via adb since I could not get the softkeys to work via mapping the the sun4i files. The key must be in one of the many vendor modules included in the stock iView rom.
Do you know if that stock image from Iview is the one they pulled?
Okay, Iview has posted the new image. I am still getting the same error. I am guessing these things are going to have to go back to the seller.
756TPC Firmware
I downloaded the firmware image and LiveSuite with instructions but was unable to get it to work. LiveSuite would come up with a box with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. The instructions include a step to press the "back" button which doesn't exist on the 756. I had flashed a 760 to ICS a while back so I tried that version of LiveSuite. It included button captions in English. It also came up with the yellow triangle but the caption said "Invalid image file". I sent this info to one of the IView techs and am waiting for a reply. If anyone has any updated info I'd be grateful to hear it. Thanks to all for all the info.
That is what I am getting. Iview had posted they were updating the intructions. I have yet to see them.

I think I am giving up. I had sent in an RMA to 'nova unhatched chickens' when the thing originally died. They peeled off part of the serial number on the back of the tablet and broke the charger dongle. Then they shipped the broken thing back saying they could not verify the serial number on the tablet even though the serial number was also on the back of the glossy Iview box. After that, I contacted the credit card company to cancel the transaction.
Hey, I have this tablet also and it runs so horribly slow. I was looking for a way to get cm10 on it but after reading this thread it seems like that won't happen, let alone cm9. Most of these chinese tablets are clones. Does anyone know what 756 is a clone of?
I found that this tablet may be similar but I can't find any files for it on the web.
"Mach Speed stealth-pro-7"
http://www.triomp3.com/media-players/tablets/stealth-pro-7/
Edit:
Actually I discovered that it is a clone of a tablet called LY-F1.
Don't have time to look it up now but apparently there are several roms for it.
I actually got cm10 running on my 756tpc! But then I bricked it trying to fix the auto rotation lol. Everything worked except auto rotation and the touch buttons. I'll post how I got it running if someone asks.
im making this post for those that have 756tpc issues, and cant yet find much support. ( like me)
around 34(4 days out of warantee) days ago, i purchased 2 756tpc. they worked great, however one day, while my tablet was just plugged in to charge, i held the power button to power it down. After it came back up, the 1g of internal memory appeared totally full, and it said 0%. Also it said the apps on this space were like 80 megs or so. i must add that at one point i used system tuner to freeze a few apps, prevented a few user installed apps from auto firing, and moved a few apps to sd. as a final circumstance, the tablet appeared reset - nothing was installed, etc.
So, im thinking wow, i guess ill start over, well, no apk would install, because it thought the internal memory was full or non existant. when i went to hard reset, it would show the updating android screen, than go instantly to the laying down android with red exclamation point.
the tablet worked perfectly except for this. thats when i got on the livesuit path - well, at the time, not long ago, there was an image for the 756 on the iview website, which i pulled, along with livesuit. after figuring out that this image was fail(756TPC-20120903.img), i pulled the one they had listed for the 760, and flashed it on the tablet. this was how i discovered my image was bad, i initially just wanted to see if the 760 image would initiate -- it did, and it flashed. --for the record the image i had would just give a yellow exclamation popup with no text when i connected the tablet.
with the 760 image, the ram issue i was having was apparently fixed, and i had more hope. it was slightly different, rotation, nor cap buttons worked, but the tablet worked more than it did with the original issue.
so, after a few days, i called iview and an asian sounding tech answered - i explained the issue, and that i wanted the firmware. he told me that in 2-3 days the new one would be up on the site to download. he chuckled at the fact that i flashed the 760 image, and asked me what happened, and that they hadnt tried it yet. he chuckled.
so - after this, to continue on the "mission" -i saw kingofmyworld324 mentioned the LY-F1. after i saw them looking idential almost, and the same for specs - i didnt have to spend long before trying these images.
---
first i used ICS-Seby_8.04.7z - which flashed and showed an ugly boot screen before failing to load. i tried twice.
next i flashed :
4.0______20120315-a721-LF-y1.rar -its 4.0.3 ICS
works perfectly! -maybe even faster and better than the original firmware. theres a few small things that may differ, but -- niice.
problem solved.
i may or may not try the 756 rom if and when they add it back.
thanks!

hehe i can see that even in this thread initially. they had these firmwares, i missed that obviously - but hopefully have made it more clear. - and there is compat patch atm.
Hi, I am creating this thread for anyone who purchases the Ampe A85q Quad Core.
I got mine from FocalPrice Singapore for £70 (inc a £5 discount) just over a week ago and it runs great, at times so I am now looking at improving it, where possible and with the blessing of XDA here, I will post as much info as I can and hopefully do a few things to it, to make it better. I have already found some information out that I will share but having never replaced an existing Rom and such, I am hoping some help is available to guide where necessary.
Today my daughter bought it to me, it had locked up and crashed in an ON state. After a long-hold power, it switched off and switched back on as normal. I then factory reset it and then changed the language and disabled Google PinYin.
Confusingly, the Ampe website (szampe.com) shows the tablet labelled as a A8003QD but another googled site shows it listed as both. Having checked the makers site and specs I see it must be the same tablet. As this tablet is quite new, there are very few results for it.
Official link : http://www.szampe.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=180&i=4
Supporting site showing matching model number : tattoo-ipl.com/productsshow.asp?id=1619
Szampe is now offering a A8003QD Ampe Firmware Update, direct link :
2013/7/24 - http://www.szampe.com/UploadFile/file/2011-08/0335.rar (525MB) #Note I am yet to try this and will add any eventual outcome to this thread.
The download just finished. The rar file contains
FOLDER : A8003QD 爱魅 改乐投风格、4K不支持4个窗口播放的软件20130427 (translated = A8003QD love charm happy to vote to change style, 4K does not support 4 Window Play Software 20130427)
------ and contains >>>> aimei_anpei8003_a31s_v2.0_4.1.1_20130429_[1024x768_ctp兼容_双Camera0308_gsensor兼容_ddr360].img
FOLDER : 全志A31升级工具安装 (translated = Allwinner A31 upgrade tool is installed)
------ and contains >>>> 升级指南(A31主控).doc (translated = Upgrade Guide (A31 Master))
------ and contains >>>> PhoenixUSBPro_Cn_V330_20121204.rar
------ and contains >>>> PhoenixSuitPacket-V1_0003Beta.rar
------ and contains >>>> PhoenixSuitPacket.msi
Having converted and translated the above .doc file I see some instructions on what to do, however some of the instructions appear to be missing. I need to get this done better so it can be followed properly.
Problems :
Rom language - The tablet came with English setup already. A factory reset changes this back to Chinese.
Keyboard is set to English UK.
Google PinYin can and is now disabled
Some of the features are still in Chinese and I cannot see a way to change them.
Some lag on boot up lasting for a while but appears to stop until put in sleep mode which starts again for a while.
As mentioned above a freeze/crash and black screen then remained after the sleep mode kicked in. Had to long-hold power to turn it off, when I switched it back on, it seems back to normal. I suspect this was caused by some app or other one of my kids installed.
Hopefully I can get this update done and see if things are better and if not, consider a rom replacement. #reboot required now as the windows installer is playing up as I cancelled the first pheonix installer to look for any newer and english version. Back later today.
Edit :
Managed to get through the firmware update and am now going to check it out to see if anything has improved. I think it may be best to give this a couple of days of letting the kids do their thing as well as my own. Of course I will update this again.
update : So after a few hours letting the kids do stuff and having a bit of a play myself, this firmware update really has improved the tablets running qualities. For example, the usage immediately after boot / browsing / gaming / pattern and face recognition unlock all seem to run flawlessly now. The face rec unlock used to sometimes not even load and go str8 to pattern, 30% of the time it wouldn't recognise me and was laggy to happen in most cases. This now runs rapid, loads every time and I think due to lighting and moving around the room, only failed to recognise me, once out of around 10 tries. I tried a game or two with the kids and found reactions were spot on every time, to screen touches. The kids felt it was running nicely now too.
Again, if I find anything contrary to this, i will add another update below.
http://s12.postimg.org/tsh261hl9/IMG_20130801_010116.jpg
At the moment, the tablet doesn't seem to be bloated with much un-needed software although I could probably look deeper and find some. Hwoever this is the part that is something I would love to know how to get rid of or change and is making me think about custom roms, if you look at the image above.

I'm looking at various launchers at this moment. I'm toying with the idea for now.
The build number even though dated last week on the offiicial site for this tablet, is
fiber_8003-eng 4.1.1 MASTER 20130427 test-keys as shown in the img filename
I'm a little confused as to what has happened here. I checked the img file modified date on my pc and it indeed says it was last modified in April. Whatever has happened, the tablet is running much better, noticed by myself and the kids, so far.
thanks.
Maybe before you have an old firmware.

I am now still running the 24/July rom I found (see post one) and it seems better but not perfect. It seems like a need for TRIM as regards the problems with lag and crashing (trim or not, I am unsure of crashing part) when I reboot the tablet most problems are solved.
I do think we could do with a better rom, to be honest. I have not tried the roms mentioned by others on this thread.

Hi. Since I last posted, my tablet seems to have nose dived into regurgitated mdoe. I can factory restore it using the Pheonix tool and a rom and it works but then WIFI refuses to enable and not long after changnig the language and disabling pinyin, it simply reboots and stays at the chinese boot up screen. I'm now trying the rom quoted above as it might solve the problem but I think there may be a hardware issue. When I do manage to get it worknig, it states 1GB of memory instead of what it should be, 8GB - tax
I am a little worried now as I have heard returning this tablet to where I purchased it, can be a pointless nightmare which is an awful thought as I have just ordered a dual core for my daughter and that has already had shipping issues that are making it an extra week late already.
I contacted them but either they are ignorant or just plain stupid.
Just got one of these - Few Problems
Hi all, Just got one of these tabs for my little boy but have a few problems.
1: Wifi is extremely poor, I have a N600 router and everything wifi can use it but this tab can only connect if i am in the room
as the router, then its painfully slow.
2: Does this have bluetooth, Downloaded a hardware tester and it says no bluetooth.
Currently running this
Current rom: fiber_8003-eng 4.1.1 MASTER 20130427
Kernel Version: 3.3.0 [email protected]
Firmware Version: 2.0
Android Version: 4.1.1
Model: A85 Q
I have found a newer rom: fiber_8003-eng 4.1.1 MASTER 20130429, anyone tried it, any improvements on the wifi.

AMPE internal storage =0 and can't flash rom
I have a AMPE A85Q quad core android tablet running 4.1.1 os. Recently, I rooted the tablet using Z4Root despite warnings from my anti-virus AVG saying that Z4Root is a Malware. (I have used Z4Root before on another tablet before without problem). After confirming that I have temporarily rooted the tablet, I thought I return the tablet back to the original state by unrooting the tablet. Everything works fine until I shutdown and restarted the tablet the next day. The tablet factory resetted itself and I lost all my downloaded applications. I tried to download applications again, and it just hung. I then noticed the internal storage is zero. I factory reset it again via the tablet Settings, but the internal storage remains as 0.
So I started this journey get my tablet to the original state, after 2 days of research and experimentation on that subject matter, I have made some discoveries. There are many android users out there having this problem, ie, Internal storage is 0.
The solution provided by many experience users, appears to be quite simple, just copy /system/xbin/busybox to /system/bin.
As I could not access / directory, so from my PC, I downloaded Root_Explorer_v2.17.2.apk into my extsd card, and using my tablet File Manager to installed it. All went well. I then discovered my tablet does not have busybox installed. I thought perhaps, I can find a busybox.apk, I can install it via the extsd card. No luck, there is no a such apk.
I decided at this point, I must flash my ROM. On the website, they recommend backing all the data and apps before flashing, but I have already lost everything, and I can't install any new applications, so I can go ahead and flash the rom.
Since I'm doing this for the first time, I read many articles on the web. And, yes, there were users out there who had successfully fixed the problem by flashing the Rom.
My tablet rom version is fiber_8003-eng 4.1.1master 20130517 test-keys .
I found this rar from the AMPE home site.
szampe.com/UploadFile/file/2011-08/0335.rar (525MB)
(Chinese characters quoted from user codQuore posting)
The rar file contains
FOLDER : A8003QD 爱魅 改乐投风格、4K不支持4个窗口播放的软件20130427 (translated = A8003QD love charm happy to vote to change style, 4K does not support 4 Window Play Software 20130427)

At the same site, I also found the latest ROM 0381.rar (497.07MB) which has the same release date as my ROM. The rar file contains two folders:
FOLDER : A85?|?? contains aimei_anpei8003_a31s_v2.0_4.1.1_20130517.img (789.09 MB0
and FOLDER : -A31??? (As above the ?s represents chinese characters) contains PhoenixSuitPacket-V1_0003Beta.rar and ????A31???.doc (110.5kb)
PhoenixSuitPacket-V1_0003Beta.rar contains PhoenixSuitPacket.msi (12.33mb)
Why they have a rar file within another rar file, I do not logically understand. Maybe that's the reason, I can't get this part to work. I cannot understand the chinese instructions in the doc file.
If they know the recovery process requires a zip file, you would think it would be sensible to upload zip file rather than rar file. Anyway, I unzipped the files from 0381.rar using RootExplorer and copy the img, doc and msi files into a folder called 1dir. I then zipped the 1dir as 1dir.zip. I have to re-zip the files so that the recovery program can find the zip file.
In the tablet Settings>>Backup & reset>>Recovery Mode, I pressed Reboot into the system in Recovery Mode. Using the volume down key moved to highlighted “apply update from external storage” and select 1dir.zip from extsd.

Eureka! Fixed.
OK. Before I forget, I better document the fix. The vendor website actually has the img and the tools to flash the rom. Not understanding Chinese user's guide is my problem. Also pictures in the in the instruction shows the use of Livesuit tool instead of PhoenixSuit; this let me needlessly looking for Live Suit software to work with A31. After unzipping the 0381.rar file, there is a img file and a Window installabled msi file, PhoenixSuitPacket.msi. I copied the img and msi files to a directory in my Windows7 PC, and installed PhoenixSuit V1.003Beta. The installation is the tricky bit, because my Windows Installer does not display Chinese Characters. I was desperate enough to click on what I guessed is the "NEXT" button during the installation process. I could read that all installed files were placed in the /program(x86)/Allwinnertech folder. Once installation complete, in the folder there is a pdf file which tells you in Chinese and in pictures, how to use PhoenixSuit to flash the rom. I started PhoenixSuit. There are enough English words and pictures to understand what to do.
I powered up the tablet before connecting the tablet to the PC. The tablet immediately displayed the USB port is connected, and I chose to enable data transfer to storage. At this point, PhoenixSuit also wake up to display the version of firmware, even partially disfunctional, on the tablet. All very positive signs. I proceeded to flash the rom using my img file located in the PC using PhoenixSuit. It took less than 4 minutes, and successfully flashed the rom.
I have rechecked the Internal Storage and it is now displaying 0.99GB instead of 0. Also, Busybox reappears in /system/bin. All good.
Hope this little adventure helps someone out there.
When I'm game enough, I'll tried to re-create the problem. Was it during the rooting process using Z4Root that the problem appears? I will update again when ....

Rooting
Always remember, you root your device AT YOUR OWN RISK. Rooting will void your warranty and you may brick your device in attempting this. Its a choice and you're the only one who can make it.
Rooting instructions (tested up to RCA firmware 1.9.50):
(Beginning with a tablet never before rooted, or has been completely unrooted prior)
1. On your tablet, go to Settings > About tablet > Build number and tap the build number 7 times. This will unhide the Developer options menu.
2. Tap the Developer options menu. Enable it by sliding the slider to the right in top bar. Select "USB debugging" by placing a check mark in the box next to it.
3. Go to Settings > Security. Select "Unknown sources" by placing a check mark in the box next to it. Deselect "Verify apps" by removing the check mark in the box (you can enable it again afterwards if you wish).
4. Connect your tablet to PC via USB.
5. Download the Windows iRoot rooting application here.
6. Install the app.
7. Start iRoot and follow instructions to root. Remember to enable USB permissions on tablet when prompted.
8. Once successfully completed, download and install SuperSU from here to replace the Chinese root manager called Superuser 1.0.4.
9. Start SuperSU and you will be asked for permission, choose to allow.
10. SuperSU will prompt to install SU binary, go ahead with OK and install normally (not TWRP). IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO INSTALL THE BINARY.
11. Once SuperSU is installed and the binary updated, you can uninstall Superuser 1.0.4 and the second app it installs, something like "Clean Master" (unless you want it).
Happiness is now achieved with having a rooted device
* For further details regarding root, please see "Rooting considerations" in the Misc. section below.
Custom Recovery
Always remember, you install a custom recovery on your device AT YOUR OWN RISK. Installing a custom recovery will void your warranty and you may brick your device in attempting this. Its a choice and you're the only one who can make it.
99% of the credit for this section goes to johnemc2, PatF and mexicandroid for creating and contributing to this thread. Although it was created for a different but similar RCA tablet model, they provided everything I am going to reiterate here. Also the original thread for TWRP on MediaTek devices (which is the chipset for these RCA tablets) is here, and all credit goes to yuweng for this. Make sure to hit the thanks button in the respective threads for these guys!
TWRP installation instructions (tested up to RCA firmware 1.9.50):
1. Device must be rooted. See rooting section above or use another method of your choice.
2. Download the TWRP recovery image for the 6203 from here. Rename it by deleting "[RCA 6203 TWRP - Remove this tag]" so that the file name reads only "recovery.img" (with no quotes of course).
3. Place this file on your external sdcard.
4. Download and install [ROOT] Rashr Flash Tool from here. If the app suggests updates, go ahead and install them.
5. Rashr will ask you to make a backup. If you try, it will fail. Not to worry too much though, a stock recovery image is available below.
6. Start Rashr. From the menu, tap Recovery from Storage. From the "Pick a file" menu select /storage/emulated. Select /storage/, then select sdcard1/. From there select the recovery.img file you saved in step 3.
7. It will give you a warning prompt asking if you are sure. If so, select "Yes please" to install TWRP.
8. Upon successful flashing of TWRP you will have the choice to boot into the custom recovery, go check it out!
9. One procedural maintenance item to perform after: I have noticed that the rashr app holds on to a large amount of data for some reason and haven't found the need. Once you reboot, you can go into Settings > Apps > All and find Rashr and clear data to reclaim the space.
Good guide for using TWRP can be found here.
How to manually get into recovery (TWRP or stock):
From a powered off state, simultaneously depress the power and volume up buttons until the white RCA boot screen appears. Once this screen appears, release the power button but REMAIN DEPRESSING THE VOLUME UP BUTTON until you are in recovery.
Stock recovery installation:
It is the exact same procedure as was with TWRP, with the exception of step 2. Instead download the stock recovery image from here, rename it by deleting "[RCA 6203 Stock Repacked - Remove this tag]" so that the file name reads only "recovery.img" (with no quotes of course). Continue on using step 3 above. Check out why you might need the stock recovery image in the "Firmware updating considerations" area of the Misc. section below.
Ultimate happiness and assurance is now achieved with having a custom recovery installed on your device to back it up!
Accessories
Here are some of the accessories I am currently using for the 6203:
Cases:
The keyboard case is good, but I found it cumbersome in most cases and unnecessary. So I purchased this case from Ebay. Here are some photos of mine. I have had it for 5+ months with no issue upon daily use.
Screen Protectors:
I purchased this anti-glare and anti-fingerprint screen protector from Amazon. Although they now have it for the 6203, at the time they only had them for the 6103 and I had to modify it. But 5 months later it is still great. Being anti-glare means there is a slight matte to them, but overall I found it hardly effected the clarity of the screen. It really kept having to wipe off the screen due to fingerprints to a minimum!
I am just sharing what I have found to work for our devices and hope it helps you too in some way!
Customization Apps
Customization apps that require root (seeing rooting section above):
Xposed Framework. Man is this awesome. Here is the description from the site: Xposed is a framework for modules that can change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs. That's great because it means that modules can work for different versions and even ROMs without any changes (as long as the original code was not changed too much). It's also easy to undo. As all changes are done in the memory, you just need to deactivate the module and reboot to get your original system back. There are many other advantages, but here is just one more: Multiple modules can do changes to the same part of the system or app. With modified APKs, you to decide for one. No way to combine them, unless the author builds multiple APKs with different combinations. You can find version 2.6.1 for our tablet here (select "show older versions" at the bottom of the page).
GravityBox [KK]. TONS of customization for our device. Find it here.
Customization apps that do not require root:
Blacked out or inverted apps. I love darkened apps. I prefer a black or dark background to most apps. It looks good and is easier on the eyes! You can download the Team Blacked Out updater apk from here. You can download many popular apps that have been "blacked out" by this team.
I am just sharing these apps for fellow fans of customization. Enjoy!

Misc.
Rooting considerations:
Although there is a risk of bricking the device in doing so, to date I have rolled through both the 1.3.51 and 1.9.50 RCA updates without the update being hindered by having my device rooted prior (never unrooted), and I have not lost root once the update completes. Although I have not tried this without, I believe this may be because I use SuperSU Pro OTA survival. This app is not necessary, but the free version does not have the "OTA survival mode" that the pro version possesses. I recommend spending the $3.75 for purchase.
Firmware updating considerations:
If you delete any of the bloatware apps that comes preloaded (VUDU, Walmart, Sam's Club, Opera, etc.) and try to update the device, it will soft brick your tablet. This is because the update performs a core app comparison check to test validity prior to completing installation. You will only be able to get into stock recovery once this happens. Therefore my recommendation is not to delete any of these apps but instead use Titanium or MyBackup Pro to freeze them, and prior to attempting any firmware update remember to UNFREEZE THEM FIRST. This will save you any headache with the firmware updates.
I do not think you can install an official firmware update via TWRP, so you may need to reinstall the stock recovery to do this. See the "Custom Recovery" section above.
Misc. #2
[reserved]
One frustrating thing about our device is that some apps will not install from the Play store. It will state "this item is not compatible with your device". Well I have tried many methods to circumvent this, including changing prop files and using apps that fake screen densities. I don't recommend that . Instead I sideload. I use a Google Chrome extension called APK Downloader. You can get it here. To set up it will ask for devide ID info. I plug in the number for my S4. Once downloaded, I just copy the apk over to my tablet and install from there. The only caveat to this is that it does not work for purchased apps.
There are other ways to procure the app and sideload, but this is the method I use most often for the 6203.
I have a support request in to RCA for these concerns (here is the text as I sent):
Hello,
I have 3 questions. The first is that by reading the specs for this tablet the CPU is supposed to be set for 1.5Ghz. But when you use the tablet, it is only set for 1300Mhz (1.3Ghz) (I can provide screenshots). Which is wrong and why?
My second question is do we have any access to a complete firmware ROM that can be used via recovery? This would be nice to have in case the tablet is soft bricked for any reason. Update ROMs do not provide this.
Lastly, is there anywhere to download USB drivers for this tablet?
Thanks in advance for your help.
From RCA:
Glen (RCA Support)
Apr 27, 3:18 PM
1) The max threshold is 1.5Ghz. The reason it is running at 1.3 is probably because your not using its absolute full capacity
2) We dont have the ROM
3) Is this for the USB stick or memory stick?

#Madeforyourlifestyle
My response:
Glen,
Here are my responses:
1. I have attached 3 screenshots from independent apps that all report the CPU set for 1.3Ghz and not 1.5Ghz. In fact they show the governor as having the range for the CPU set to 598-1300mhz. I believe this happened in the firmware 1.9.50 update and was not the case prior. Can you check to see why this was done? We purchased tablets that were intending on having a 1.5Ghz processor.
2. You will see many returns then from tablets that were soft bricked due to the most recent update corrupting the system file, and then only allowing people to boot into recovery and not into Android.
3. No, USB drivers as in this explanation: http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
Thanks. I really appreciate your assistance with these questions. Please let me know if there is any other information I can offer.
From RCA 5/4/15:
Glen (RCA Support)

The tablet will use the 1.5Ghz only when it will take big update like firmware updates.
#Madeforyourlifestyle
My response:
Glen,
There is no way for the Android kernel to know only to use full CPU capability during an upgrade procedure. Its there for all operations or it is not.
Can I have my concern escalated to your engineering team? As I said previous, the system showed 1.5Ghz was available in processing speed before the last upgrade.
Thanks
From RCA 5-7-15:
Hello,
We'd love to hear what you think of our customer service. Please take a moment to answer one simple question by clicking either link below:
How would you rate the support you received?
Good, I'm satisfied
Bad, I'm unsatisfied
Conclusion:
So apparently RCA doesn't intend to do anything about the most recent update failures outside of performing RMA's for people, and also doesn't care to answer why these tabs are advertised as 1.5Ghz and are being throttled to 1.3.

What can I do with this or this - no ROM Backups, and an annoying 'brick' on my table?
I successfully rooted with KingRoot and tried to manually switch to SuperSU with a script I found.
The script seemed workable. I found all of the targets and: # root.sh ... oh *hi*
The transition failed and after trying to 'clean up' remnants the script seemed to have missed, the screen froze: RESET BUTTON - nothing, nothing, nothing.
I wish I hadn't believed it would work without a 'dd ... system.img'. The tablet had about 12hrs mileage and is now a very new [Black Friday] $49 item about to be smashed on the driveway.
I read somewhere that RCA will not be distributing winusb drivers.

probeafargavin,
Sorry for slow reply. Been a busy month! I recommend sending the unit back to RCA for an RMA. I had to do this once and although it took a month, I received back a working tablet. It doesn't matter that you did this, they will not check. They will end up sending you back a refurbed tablet. Mine works fine.

I rooted my device (same exact make/ model you have listed). Well it just so happens that now I am not able to open the Google App store. I have clicked the app logo so many times now and all what I see is what looks like the app is about to open but it just disappears about a half second later.
Looks like I am no longer able to use the back button also. I have tried factory resetting the device yet problem remains. Clearing cache of the Google Play app, no results. Please help!!!!! I would surely appreciate it, I'm sure you can imagine how devastated I am over this.

C_Cee unless you have TWRP installed and had a back up, there is not much you can do. I would RMA the tablet through RCA. I had to do this once and it was a pretty quick turn around.

RCT203W46L Questions
Hi,
I have just purchased the above and rooted it with Kingroot. This is the lollipop 5.0 version.
a) a stagefright detector from lookout reports this device is vulnerable to this hack. Any thoughts?
b) are the twrp and stock recovery images pointed to by droidify post #2 and #3 still usable? even though its lollipop5.0?
Any help appreciated before I mod this thing!!
Thanks

Lollipop is going to have a different recovery, so what I posted likely will not work and may cause serious problems if attempted. Not sure about stagefright vulnerabilities.
Any advance?

My tablet is still going. Although not my daily driver device, I use it to watch videos on break at work and to read on. There hasn't been any development for this device that I am aware of and unlikely to be considering it is not that popular.

a) a stagefright detector from lookout reports this device is vulnerable to this hack. Any thoughts?
b) are the twrp and stock recovery images pointed to by droidify post #2 and #3 still usable? even though its lollipop5.0?
Any help appreciated before I mod this thing!!
Thanks

Aloha -
I just received one of these today:
Model: RCT6303W87DK (32GB)
Android version: Lollipop 5.0.
Kernel: 3.10.54
Build: RCT6303W87DK-ANDROID5.0-V63-V1.12.20-B
I installed NewKingrootV4.62_C133_B233_en_release_2015_11_24_105203.apk downloaded from www\.kingroot\.net
On the first attempt, Kingroot rebooted at 22%, and failed to root. I repeated the procedure without rebooting, and achieved root on the second attempt.
I am curious to know if you flashed TWRP and, if so, what results you had.
Also: does anyone know if, in fact, the 5.0 loader actually is different from the 4.4.2 loader.
Thanks in advance.
I'm confused, is this thread on the RCA Pro 10 RCT6203W46KB or for it's successor (I assume) the RCA 10 Viking Pro RCT6303W87DK. I ask because I have the RCT6303W87DK and am looking to see if there are any ROMs for it, as I would prefer to be running Android 5.1.2 or 6.0 over 5.0.
Hello, Do you know a custom rom compatible with the Box T9 RK3318 ? The stock rom is too ... Stock ^^ Thank you in advance.
searching too ;-)
I found a Android 9 Stock rom for the T9 64GB 4GB ram version of this box. Best way to upgrade it is by using a SDcard formatted in Fat32 and use the SD card using SD_Firmware_Tool_v146_eng_AndroidPC.zip and the firmware file name is 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z2_0820.img Make the SD card with the program. Insert the SD card while the box has no power. Hold the button inside the AV port while holding it in. Plug in the power. Then release the button when you see the T9 boot logo come up and it will automatically program the TV box to version 9. The only issue I had was with playstore would not install the apps. But if you install them manually it would update them or using a phone or computer and pick what you want from playstore works it will download and install from there when you select the TV box. Also it will not connect to WIFI while plugged into Ethernet where as the 8.1 allowed both Ethernet and WIFI to be connected at the same time. I am currently searching for the Android 10 version.
Update:
This file is more updated. 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z4_1025.img Then once its installed run the updater to get the next update to have the latest 9.0 installed.

hello, sorry for my English I live in France I would have a question about the box: TV T9 RK3318, 4gb / 64gb. the problem is that the time is desynchronized on restart and creates problems to connect to applications when the time is out of order, I tried everything changed the time zone to deactivate and entered the time Manual it goes out of order all the time . is there a custom version or a version 10?
As far as I know there is no Android 10 available for this TV box. If you want Android 10 time to buy a different Box other than a rockchip based one. As for the time resetting whenever the box is restarted this is normal it only resync when it connects to a time server on the internet. Not sure how you go about fixing that. There is no internal battery to keep time on it like a other devices would have.
Android 10 GSI ? Since the T9 was released on Android 9 and hence Treble compatible
yes no custom rom no Android 10, for now, even with an internal wifi connection sometimes she does not want to synchronize
Hello,
Before going further with this, if you wish to test those firmwares go ahead but you are the only responsible for your acts
I don't want any credits it's just to help ppl out, I was just testing the device myself.
I was also looking for a custom rom for the T9 Rk3318 but couldn't find one (in the box it was mentioned 3318 but when I opened the device in the mainboard it was saying rk3328 :/ )
I flashed some firmwares that I found (not custom) and finally bricked the box.
Then I did the testpoint and recovered it with two firmwares that I found in the link below that seems to be very compatible, all the credits goes to the owner.

A95XR5_RK3318_Android10_2020-07-10 -- is working great
The one below I found it a bit slower but it also works
RK3318_DC_R1_AP6330_10_20200707.0137working
What doesn't work:
- original remote control
- display leds
...you can tell
You need a tool to flash them
-Rockship factory Tool
-Usb male to usb male cable (you can also find some videos on youtube to make one yourself)
you can find some instructions how to flash here:

This post helped me a lot, didn't have to search aimlessly and after flashing the a95xr5 rom its way better than the Z5 one the tvbox had before. It's still slow but man, compared to the old ROM its usable and not so damn sluggish. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

I've found an Android 11 ROM for this box, works amazingly well compared to the A95X and the sluggish T9 Z5 ROM. Here is a link to it:
RK3318_DC_HK1_COOL_AP6330_11_20210522.1453.zip
drive.google.com
WIFI works, only the front panel and infrared remote does not work. By the way, I flashed this ROM with an SD card because the USB cable I made was wonky and stopped flashing midway causing the box to not boot at all. It's simple, download the tool I've attached to this post and use it to either flash or just boot the img if you don't wanna flash it to eMMC (Haven't tested the SD Boot function myself but it should work)
This website also helped me a ton: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17597-csc-armbian-for-rk3318rk3328-tv-box-boards/

If anyone knows how to update the device to android 10 or higher WITHOUT bricking the device or some functions not working so please tell me.
Remember to give the device some time to startup after the firmware downloaded successfully.
