[Completed] [q] two recovery sofware in my samsung gt-n7000 - XDA Assist

I had rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 recently using Philz Touch5 CWM v6.0.3.2 and then I decided to put custom ROM OMNI nightly 4.4.4 -2014/09/09 to have android KITKAT 4.4.4 and I read on some threads that a minimum of CWM v6.0.4.4 and above is required to have KITKAT so I again had flashed or put Philz CWM v6.41.6 and then put OMNI ROM. Now KITKAT is working fine but then I try to backup KITKAT so that I can switch to Stock ROM and Custom Rom whenever I feel like but then while booting up the recovery software was changed by itself and then I show that I have two recovery Software- Clockworkmod and TeamWinRecovery. So problem is I had backed up the new custom Rom but that is done by TWRP whereas stock Rom was through CWM so a big problem is when I want to switch the two ROM. If both the ROMs were done by same recovery then must have been better but now I have to loose either of the two ROM's data then there is no meaning of backup :crying:
i also had installed ROM manager Please help... any advice would be very thankful. and sorry i wrote lengthy but i wanted to describe in precise way

I think it's not an issue.
If you want to go back to stock rom, flash cwm recovery and then restore the cwm nandroid backup.
If you want to restore the Kitkat rom, flash TWRP recovery and then restore the TWRP backup.
And in philz-touch cwm recovery you can set the default backup format to TWRP.
Check [PhilZ-cwm6][n7000] Stock Kernel+CWM6+Root+exFAT+NTFS-LTA thread for details.

Restoring the old backup also didnt work
Sir if I first root the stockrom android 4.1.2 by CWM Base v6.0.3.2 which is Philz Touch 5 and then reinstall a higher version CWM v6.0.4.4 and above then do i need to reboot into recovery again or what all must I do like wiping etc?? literally it must be like upgrading CWM versions. I am just a beginner so have multiple doubts:angel: And Sir I made 2 backups of stockROM one by CWM and other by ROMmanager but the backup by CWM says error while restoring at final end and restoring backup of ROMmanager does restore but there is no Setting Menu and some menus after restoration. Main problem is without Setting Menu!
Sir I am thinking to reflash the stockROM through ODIN by PC so please guide me as to how can I use one Single Recovery Software either CWM or TWRP and then again backup both the stockROM and KITKAT customROM so that I can latter switch to either of the two ROM when I want.
Again sir thankyou for the previous help and I do want ur valuable guide here too

I have already linked the FAQ thread for your device. Please read and ask there.
Maybe flashing back a stock firmware, rooting, backup and then flashing the Kitkat ROM again is a good idea.
Here is the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 > Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General > [STOCK ROMS] N7000 All stock ROMs + install + Root guide All at 1place,Latest 4.1.* thread which explains nearly everything you need.
Additionally, here is a detailed rooting guide: Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 > Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General > [24sept12]How to Root/Unroot Samsung Galaxy Note + CWM
I have found a useful guide to flash Kitkat to your device: Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 > Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General > [Guide] A guide to KitKat
And concering Kitkat installation, you can ask directly in this thread.
And please ask further questions in the threads of your device specific forum ... there you will get quicker and proper help :fingers-crossed:

[Completed] [Q] SGS3, CM11 M9, CM Installer, ART/Dalvik Bootloop

Hi,
I have a Rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-i9300) 16GB Intl. Variant, running "KitKat 4.4.4 installed via CM installer"
I was using 'ART' runtime instead of 'Dalvik' and all seemed to work fine until today.
A week ago I installed "Xposed Framework" to try out some different MODS which still was not a problem. Later I did notice that the runtime reverted back to 'Dalvik' which I wasn't aware of. After doing a Google search I came to know that "Xposed Framework" only works with 'Dalvik' hence I was not able to change back 'ART' through 'developer options', although I have uninstalled 'Xposed Framework'. (Phone only restarts after selecting ART, nothing changes)
Furthermore, I learned that I would require a root explorer to navigate to a system file and rename it back to the original, which was complete bogus as after doing so, my phone is stuck on 'bootloop'.
I am now only able to enter 'Download Mode' and a 'CyanogenMod Simple Recovery <3' which doesn't give me the option to flash a New Custom ROM (Like Nightly, or PA, Omni, etc)
I have already tried, the following methods
1. 'CyanogenMod Simple Recovery <3' (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe media) still stuck in 'bootloop'
2. Kies 3 (Firmware Upgrade & Initialization) phone cannot be detected.
3. ODIN (phone cannot be detected & also Too Risky)
The biggest fear of mine here is, a year back when I was on 4.1.2 Jellybean, I installed an unofficial release of 4.2.2 from SamMobile and was unhappy with the performance and decided to downgrade back to the official software i.e. 4.1.2 (both were ODIN methods). After successfully doing the downgrade, my phone lost network (causing a generic IMEI) compelling me to visit the service center and have it repaired at a rip-off INR7000 (cost of changing the motherboard).
Therefore, reverting back to a previous version of android is not an option.
Please don't provide me with any downgrades, if anything then it should be Equal or an upgrade!
Thanks in advance for any kind of guidance to a thread or any method to work this out.
Apologies for the long thread. But hope it covers all that is required for a solution.
First and foremost, you need to try and flash a custom recovery such as CWM [i930x][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch
Or TWRP [RECOVERY] TWRP 2.6.3.0 touch recovery [2013-09-16]
Once done, you should be able reflash CM 11 as you had before.
If you still have questions, please post in [HELP THREAD] Galaxy S3 Ask any question.

UPDATE
I just tried using ODIN to flash TWRP/CWM but unsuccessful, the furthest I have progressed is to a point where I get an Error (Line 1949). Searched Google, it turns out to be something that has got to do with Region Specific ROMs. So now we rollback to the point where I would require to re-install the latest update Device Specific & REGION Specific i.e. 4.3 Jellybean/TouchWiz, which would mean downgrading...
Please review [APP][2013.11.04] RegionLock Away v1.3 [ROOT]

that review did not help.
Is there any way that I can flash a Custom Recovery on to my phone beside Odin. 'Cause if I'm able to boot into recovery then only I will be able to flash another ROM. Thanks for all the help so far!

[Completed] [Q] Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Upgrade to KitKat or lollipop

Hi Experts,
I want to upgrade my samsung galaxy note GT-N7000.
After reading on how to install custom rom to N7000. I tried one of the way to install the Custom Rom using Install from Zip using SD card.
Steps i have performed to install custom rom are mentioned below:
1. I have install one app to root my phone.
2. Checked with the help of MD5File checkup to confirm that my phone is rooted or not and found that my phone has been rooted.
3. I have gone to developer option and checked USB Debugging.
4. I have not installed any backup tool for the current recovery.
5. i have copied the N7000 CWM Nightly rom which is for KitKat, but it failed in the verification and errored with Status 7.
6. Then with some other roms its failing in status 6.
8. At last one rom Slimsaber got passed in the verification and removed the current rom but while installing or mounting its rom it failed....(This action is performed using Install using Zip from SD Card)
Result was that my phone got hung on the logo. But some how i managed to installed one korean rom on the phone which was having a older version i.e. 4.0.3 and its update was not available so i got my phone updated with the stock rom of 4.1.2 version from samsung store. So now its back to where i have started
Query:
1. Is that the reason i have not installed a custom recovery tool for the existing rom in case the new rom fails (I have missed 4th point: Is there any best app that backup for current stock rom)
Request:
1. Can you guys please tell me which is the ROM that works for N7000 India version for Kitkat and Lollipop(If available)
2. Please suggest the rom that works with Odin because i have bad exp with installing from SDcard. If possible please provide a link for that tar file.
Really appreciate your support and thanks in advance.

You should install/flash a custom recovery and make a complete system (nandroid) backup directly in the custom recovery.
There are some other apps, which can create an Online Nandorid backup (just check Play store), but some apps are not compatible with all devices and to restore such a backup, you will need a custom (CWM or TWRP) recovery anyway.
To get best advices about custom recovery, ROMs, etc. for your device, please ask in the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [FAQ] [Q&A] [Noob Friendly] HELP THREAD - POST ALL YOUR SUPPORT QUESTIONS HERE thread.
P.S.: To install/flash a custom ROM provided as zip file, you usually need a custom recovery. Stock recovery only flashed signed zip file (e.g. official OTA update files from Samsung).
Thread closed and thank you.

how to replace wrong recovery.

in an attempt to install lollipop, I flashed Android Andi's Philz recovery. I read in one of the posts how he mixed p3100 and p3110 files. Now my recovery only read p3110 files. What is the solution?

try to re flash stock rom, then the recovery will be back to stock recovery, then reflash root and custom recovery by odin/heimdall.
P.S.: By the way, wrong post place, it will be in Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section
Is there any other way to do it?
Can I force flash CWM or TWRP to replace Philz?
Find proper recovery zip and flash using Philz recovery, if not use Odin with proper Odin file (TAR? I think ) .
You can use one recovery to flash another.
Pp.
Or force to flash proper recovery via Mobile Odin. .Tar recovery file is what you need. And of course Mobile Odin and root access.

[Q] bootloader flashing

First of all i want to say HI!
I am plannning to flash Xtrestolite rom for my Samsung Galaxy S5 G900f Kitkat version [rooted already]. It says "Make sure you're on an recent Lollipop Bootloader/Firmware".
Q: can i flash lollipop bootloader on my SGs5 KITKAT version?
It also says "Make sure you have an custom recovery installed (I advise you to use the custom TWRP version by @ktoonsez)"
I can't find this custom twrp by ktoonsez on google search.
This is my first time to flash a custom rom. Please help me. . Thank you so much
Hi, you can look this page:
androidrootz.com/2014/04/how-to-root-galaxy-s5-recovery-root.html
To install a costum ROM you have to obtain root and costum recovery on your phone.
I had Galaxy S2 and the procedure was similiar... you have to download Odin (Samsung program to flash firmware and other system file), PhilZ recovery (a costum recovery) and SuperSU (root app).
thanks for your help

[Completed] How to repair Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus?

I have Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus from past 2 months(my 4months savings). I wanted my phone to have Android 'L' so i searched in google but couldn't find any. But found some custom rom of cyanogenmod cm11 of elephone. Installed it using TWRP v2.8.2.0 as shown in tutorials with all the adequate software to be install for my laptop. After intalling cm11, Android version got upgraded from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. I was happy and exited for some period. after few days felt the earlier os was better as it had video recording and FM player. so wiped the phone to install stock rom of Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus but couldn't as the error occurs shows as mentioned below:
E : Unable to mount ' /system'
Please Help........
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
When you flashed TWRP did you make a nandroid backup of your stock ROM in TWRP? Making backups in custom recovery is the most valuable part of having custom Recovery. If you did make the backup of stock then all you need to do is select the restore option in TWRP and restore your nandroid and you should be fixed.
If you didn't make the backup then you'll have to download your stock firmware and flash it via PC and your device's compatible flashtool.
you should find what you need in the thread linked below in post #3.

If you have questions of how to use what you find in that thread, you can post in that thread or you can post in the forum linked below.
