Phone stopped connecting to AWS network ? - HTC One S

Hi guys,
My HTC One S ( unlocked PJ40110 from rogers ) can't find signals for Wind Mobile ( AWS network ) after I S-off and SuperCID 2 days ago.
It still connects to GSM bands just fine , I tried that with my other simcard from other carrier. WIND doesn't even show up on the network search.
Anyone know what might cause this ? I ran both RUU available from rogers and no luck recovering the signals. Changed to different radios and tried different ROM too. I was using Viper 2.1.0 before all this happened and everything was fine until I S-off , SuperCID and updated hboot to 2.15 to upgrade to Viper 3.2.0.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks !

Help me???
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried this way and is installed, but when I restart the mobile version of the old still remains that I have after 1:11 ...
why ??? HBOOT also can not install ...
Can you help me? Plzz ...
Sorry for my bad English

I don't think I understand, do you have the t-mobile version of the One S or is it a Rogers phone?
Did it connect to WIND before you S-off and SuperCID?
I'm pretty sure only the T-mobile version should support WIND, though I'm having trouble getting mine to work on WIND regardless.

You bought a ORANGE locked phone and it's after S-OFF it's not accepting a VODAFONE SIM sounds logical to me!
Just because you've S-OFF'd you phone it doesn't mean that you have carrier unlocked it - that is something completely separate...sorry.
EDIT: You can normally pay your carrier (ie ORANGE) or pay online through a website less than £20 to carrier un-lock your phone in this way, I'm afraid that I don't know a site to recommend as I bought an unlocked phone in th e first place, but I've read several similar threads over the last few months....in this forum so have a search and a read. I recommend that you don't use a unlocking website unless someone else recommends it first.

I thought that instaling this rom RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.080 5U_38.03.02.11_M_release will unblok my phone that is what i fugured out from the thread i downlod'it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506 for example in post nr.11 is talking about unbranding.
Is not the same thing with what im tring to do?

More terminology confusion....
Un-branding means removing the Network branding from your ROM that be stuff like network specific splash screens and network bloatware applications which they install on top of the HTC base ROM.
By installing an unbranded HTC ROM you will will un-brand your phone in that it won't have the signs of being from a specific network, it will be like if you paid for an un-locked phone it would come with this ROM installed on it out of the box.
But, even if you install this ROM on your device and therefore un-brand it your phone will still unfortunately be locked onto the network (carrier locked) from which you bought it.
I got it wrong then !
Thanks helping me understand !

[Q] RUU downgrade - 130 - Model ID Error

The day I got my Canadian One S, I had an HTC upgrade waiting to be applied...
I was soooooo stupid to apply that, which made me Hboot 1.13 and radio 0.17...
I have rooted and s-off and all other necessary to install JB...
All went nice... I got ParanoidAndroid ROM(thanks guys, very nice job seriously) running smoothly...
However, after several days I've noticed that many people have been complaining that they can't reach me...
I've activated the operator's missed call SMS function and the result was shocking...
I was missing 70% of the calls each day... I started to track the status of the device then...
This is what I've discovered:
Network is constantly switching between 3G, H and H+...
Even if there's H on the screen, sometimes there's no connection actually.
While searching for the probable root cause of the problem, I've installed seven different ROMs, including Android 4.0.4 and 4.1.
The problem remains, so I assume ParanoidAndroid ROM works fine. I have a different problem.
I kept searching and found out that many people have similar problems but I failed to find an exact solution.
One of the articles says that it may be the radio version, which makes sense to me.
Now I'm trying to downgrade the phone since three days.
The RUU I've been trying is:
RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2_Radio_0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258480_signed
because I was thinking that GSM network is GSM network and so EU RUU shall work.
But the error I get is Model ID Error, coded 130; which actually tells me that I'm being stupid again because I'm using a wrong RUU.
Now, I'm very tired(really, physically tired, I don't mean that I'm bored) so I need some sleep...
Is there any guru here who may help me? What RUU is correct for my Canadian One S? I got it from Fido in Toronto but because of my work, I'm using it in Asia, in Kazakhstan.
Cheers... :silly:

You can change your carrier ID so you can pass the model check when using any RUU by follow the instructions at the link below. If you do change your carrier ID then you'll need to unlock your bootloader though htcdev.com after you run a RUU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26516911#post26516911
Also, after you change to super cid keep in mind you can only run RUU's which contain the same hboot version you are currently running or a higher version. In your case hboot 1.13 or hboot 1.14.
Thanks a lot but...

Thanks a lot.
In fact I read the CID change method but most probably because of late-night-sleepy mood, I've considered the method as brand and model specific thing. After five hours sleep, I see that it is not...
I've performed all the steps and I've succeeded to install this RUU:
RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2_Radio_0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258480_signed
As you have mentioned about hboot, the RUU didn't downgrade my hboot from 1.13 but it did downgrade the radio from 0.17 to 0.16. and OpenDSP from v28 to v25.
I've performed all rooting and installed CWM recovery and I've restored the backup.
I got JB back without any hassle.
However, the 3G, h and H+ switching problem still remains, which actually made me look for a solution for RUU installation.
So radio downgrade didn't help...
It's very annoying to see the network constantly switching... And I have reasons to believe that this switching is draining the battery.
Would you have any suggestions on that particular issue?
(I don't know if this is important but I since the problem is still remaining, let me mention anyway...
The geniuses in Fido, even after asking about it for three times, gave me an operator locked phone...
So when I arrived here and have inserted the KZ operator SIM, the phone got locked.
I unlocked it myself...)
Cheers

Glad it worked. For the network switching I think that's fast dormancy doing it's thing but your carrier has to support it. To disable it add these lines to your build.prop file.
ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=0
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=1
or if those already exist change them to match above and see if that fixes it.
I'm sorry

Thanks mate.
I've added the two lines to build.prop
Even though the switching still is going on, I suspect that it is quite less dynamic than before.
Today, I'll be watching the status of data and the missed call SMS' from the operator.
I'll of course let you know the outcome tomorrow.
Cheers :good:

OK, here I am...
The problem is still going on...
However... I found out something very interesting...
Yesterday I felt very upset and disappointed with the One S and bough myself a new One X...
I didn't install any HTC updates, etc... I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM recovery...
Put my favorite ROM, the latest version of ParanoidAndroid...
Inserted the SIM card... Guess what?.. Same thing... Switching between 3G, H, H+ !...
You can't imagine how surprised and shocked I was. I started to consider burning both phones in my back yard.
But before buying some alcohol for easier burn, I've decided to check the issue with another SIM card. :cyclops:
So I've asked from one of my friends having micro-SIM to give me his SIM for 5 mins to test...
While explaining him the problem on his One X, I saw that -with another operator SIM card- his One X is in the same situation...
His One X is pure factory default, no bootloader mods, no recoveries, no custom ROM, etc...
Since he keeps the data off all the time but uses only wifi, the guy had never noticed the issue.
So I'm shocked for two times in 20 hours
Now what?.. The networks of all operators in Kazakhstan have some kind of a problem?
Or is this really a problem?...
Four days ago I was using the same operator network with my good-old HTC Desire and I haven't witnessed such issues with that one, neither with the two EVO 3Ds I have, nor with the Motorola Xoom. By the way, they're still fine... No switching issues so far...
What may the difference be between these old models and the new series?
Problematic new radio hardware or firmware HTC uses in the One series?
If this was only a switching issue, I might think that it may not be a problem actually but the phone still is dropping from the GSM network and I still receive missed call SMS from the operator...
Delays in sending SMS, etc...
What the heck is going on here?
Cheers
Should this method always work?

Hi, I'm not able to run the RUU with this method (130 - Model ID Error). CID is 11111111, phone (One S) is unlocked by htcdev.com. The mid is PJ4020000 and I didn't find any way to change the it (fastboot oem writemid PJ4010000 doesn't work). Hboot version is 2.09. I tried to install both RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2 and RUU_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.5. Can anybody help me, please?
Problem because of S3 processor

HTC One S

[Q] How can I do this?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Android world (obviously) Yesterday I flashed the T-mobile RUU (2.35) and I am with Virgin Mobile Canada (silly why I did this). I got a 2nd HTC One S from my carrier after I couldn't use the T-mobile ROM on my phone (No data network etc).
Now that I have the second phone that has the stock ROM for my carrier, is there a way for me to backup that device and push or restore to the old HTC One S to remove the T-mobile ROM? Looks like my HBOOT was updated to 1.14. If I do a nandroid, will it work on the old phone with HBOOT 1.14 or does this get downgraded as well?
What other options do I have to get back to something that actually works? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

In need of major major help

I need some major help, good folks of XDA. I've purchased this HTC One S from a guy who got it from Fido; naturally it was locked to Fido. I was planning on giving it to my girlfriend who is with Telus. I used cellunlocker.net to unlock the phone to find out that it didnt work with Telus. It would pick up signal then lose signal, pick up signal and lose signal every 10 seconds or so. I thought if I put a custom ROM on it might get me signal so I unlocked bootloader, rooted and put Viper ROM on it but it turns out it still wouldn't pick up network on Telus. So I decided to try it on my network, Rogers, and it picks up network but only 2G!!! Now my One S has the stable CM10 on it with baseband 1.08ts.50.02.16_10.08e.50.04L, unlocked bootloader with s-on, hboot 1.06, radio - 0.16.31501s.02
Here are the solutions I have tried so far to this problem;
-Tried to install multiple RUU both with ROGER001 CID and Super CID:11111111 and I couldn't install any of the RUUs, kept getting Error 155 with Rogers RUU and Check CID errors with other RUUs.
-Used to have 1.13 hboot but downgraded to 1.06 so I could change basebands and everytime I flash a different baseband, nothing changes after reboot.
-There is a recent jellybean rogers ota update zip but I dont know how to install it
please someone help!!! Thank you in advance and even more if my problem ever gets solved
Wrong forum for this kind of question. Have you tried flashing the telus radio? Also modifying the build.prop with the telus settings might help. Odd that you're having that issue on Rogers since Fido is the same network. Sounds like someone may have sold you a dud...

Just asking, why is this the wrong (forum) as you say cuz this forum handles all devices does it not and I don't see anything wrong with his post?
SuperCID lets you flash any RUU, that error is most likely down to the bootloader being unlocked so if you really want to run a RUU then you want SuperCID and the lock the bootloader then run the RUU and also before you start the RUU be in fastboot mode first.

Try hex editing mmcblk0p23 .... There is a method here for flashing RUUs that is discussed in the development forum in the sticky for downgrading your bootloader.... Try the hex edit, and then lock and then flash.
You could also try flashing a different baseband radio. For Canada, I didnt get the best reception from 1.08. You can d/l new baseband radios either for your phones radio partition or for CM10 (which uses a different location). There is a thread with radios collected in them in the development section.
I would try flashing a different radio before the RUU... The RUUs will upgrade your bootloader and then you cant flash new radios and other partition on SENSE seperately (ie ROMS wont flash properly and you will need to fastboot the boot.img every time)...
Funny , I unlocked my Original Fido One S to use it on Wind and it works perefectly. It should work on Telus ...have you tried inputting telus apn and restarting the phone after?

Desire S not registering on network

Hello,
I have this Desire S here which is on official 2.3.5 GB rom, sense 3 and unlocked. Everything else is working apart from the sim is not getting registered to the network and it keeps giving a "x" sign above signal notifier. I tried to manually register the sim "Orange" on its network, which it registered once and after 2 minutes removed the registration automatically.
can you please help me in this regard?
shall i flash the radio?
shall i flash the new rom?
or is it some hardware isuue (assuming it is working because i can search the operators manually.)
Hi few days ago,
I've had similar issue with my lady's phone, she just spilled some liquid ( ? ) over the phone
and when i opened it, the phone was wet inside...
There was no network at all..
I dried it up through the night, and it came back to normal...
You can try to clean simcard and phone connectors as well ( carefully )
If that's one of the above mentioned causes, there is a big chance you may recover your phone...
If the problem persists, you might also check

thanks for the tip. let me open the phone and give it a go... will update you if it worked or not
ok, i have checked it, cleaned the sim jacket, phone is not water damage either...
sim jacket is fine because it do ask me for sim pin code when i turn the phone on. the sim card is not blocked either.
can you please look into this issue for me?
thanks
Could you give more details? Such as how you unlocked the device? Any mods that you may have installed?

Just a thought....
Is/was it simlocked
Is your phone ( or its software ) branded ( carrier locked )
Is it still stock or rooted and modded already...
Could you specify the radio version- your device is having installed...
