Is there a problem with using Softcard/Isis Wallet on a rooted phone since they changed their name to Softcard? I never tried it under the Isis Wallet name so I don't know if it worked then or not. I am unable to run Softcard now because it detects that I am rooted. I have Xposed Framework. I have tried Root Cloak and Isis Root Bypass. Neither one seems to work. Any ideas?

I can open the app and it seems to work just fine, but I haven't tried to use it in the store recently. I'm rooted and using ISIS Root Bypass Exposed module.

I had the same issue when I first rooted my G3, google it and solved it with this guideline on the link, just follow their steps and its a done deal, ISIS or Softcard now opens
can't seem to post the link just google "bypass root detection android" and look for the one from droidviews . com
works fine with root cloak
Does anyone know how yo make this work on a non US model G3? I have the apk but it won't install when I move it to the system/app and change permissions to 644 (rw-r-r). I would like to use it on my Korean G3 cat 6 but right now it only works on my D850.

It will only work on T-Mobile,att or Verizon phones. They have a special file that reads the enhanced sim card. Maybe they will allow it now that Apple pay is competing, this way they can get it on more phones.

Updates
My app updated yesterday (automatically because of the local wifi) as I was at the store and ready to pay and all of a sudden my phone was freezing because it was updating all the settings..
Well after I got my phone to work and the app to reopen, it said it couldnt open because it was rooted. I had already used a different method of cloaking my root but it seemed to have not worked with the newer version.
My question is...
Will this keep working even if the app updates again?
That way I dont have to go through the same trouble of having to look online for another solution
Root cloak doesn't work anymore. The Softcard app was recently updated and it is back to giving me the error about not working with rooted phones. Are there any other cloaking programs that work?
Super SU. Settings. Check uninstall root. Wait. Open soft card after. Use. Go back to Super SU. Uncheck box. Profit.

I'm using Root Clock 1.4 and it still works for me. In fact I've been using my Softcard a lot recently given the "$10 back for every 5 clicks" offer going on now till the end of the year. $1.08 (with tax) coffee at McDonalds = $3.00 back to me in the end with this latest offer. I'm getting paid to drink coffee.

It should be listed under your Softcard account promos, but you can also see it other places on the web like at the AT&T store. Click here for that information.... Look for the "Tap to pay five times and get a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card*" promo.

I flashed Power User Rom and now this does not work
Has anyone been successful in getting the Softcard app working on any non-stock 4.4.4 ROM? It FCs when I try to use it on the CM build. I'm just curious if others have experiences similar issues and if anyone has determined a way to get it to work.
Thanks!

I can also confirm that 1.4 works with Soft Card
Do you know what is that special file that reads the enhanced sim card?
I am using t-mobile enhanced SIM card on my At&T phone. But when I access the T-mobile softcard app, it says that to use softcard, I need a different sim card. I tried changing few properties in build.prop but no luck yet.
Hasn't anyone been able to work their softcard app in another carrier's device?

That's not going to work. If the phone is not on the list it will not work. I think the phone contacts the network and confirms the phone. No way around that.

Google Wallet works better. You should root your phone and try that
Yes I have Google wallet. Wanted to try it ISIS since I live in one of the test areas. Compare the two. Verizon fail all over the place.

You have to have the special NFC sim cards for ISIS to work.

Incase anyone else is interested Verizon fixed the problem overnight. So you can now install ISIS btw you don't need the nfc sim installed to install the app. Not sure about actually using /setting it up. I believe you will need that sim to do anything in the app.

I'm In Michigan and I installed the app but it would not let me set it up. So I tweeted to verizonsupport and they sent me a SIM card that is compatible with Isis. I received the SIM card today and setup the account. I also recieved the free ten dollars. So now i have to see if it works at a store.
I encourage everybody to pass on ISIS and the carriers bull****.

ISIS supports the same services (paypass, paywave, etc) that wallet supports. So basically you should be able to use it at the same locations.

I just got the OTA from VZW last week and since I saw ISIS in the change list I figured I'd give it a go even though I'm in NY not SLC/Austin.
I called Verizon and they sent me a NFC SIM, and I still had trouble getting it to go but I got it eventually. It was a pain in the neck to set up and add cards but I got it going. On Amex's page about ISIS it says: "Use it where American Express contactless payments are accepted.* Just look for the universal symbol for contactless payments or signs that say "Isis Ready™."
by saying "or" it seems to imply not just in ISIS ready places like SLC/Austin, but anywhere AMEX ExPay is accepted, which is all over the country! I didn't see the same about Chase.
I'll give it a go today in NY and I'll let you know if it worked.
Overall, I must say so far, I like the app better than Google Wallet. It seems like they charge the card direct as opposed to Google which has a system of charging their virtual MC first then charging you, (This could be dis-advantageous regarding benefits that the card would give you, like bonus points at certain category merchants etc.). The only major problem is that it only takes Chase, Amex, and Cap1. but that isn't such a problem for me because I pretty much only use Chase and Amex cards.
I've got it installed, but it will not let me set it up. I live in Pittsburgh, so it may not be a test area. It's strange that it kicks me out of the app though.

Update: I successfully used ISIS to pay at a Brooklyn, NY RiteAid store. I had it set to use a Amex card and I checked straight away and there was a pending charge that appeared normal (unlike Google Wallet transactions which would show up as GOOGNFC*name-of-merchant). When I tried to pay, nothing was happening, so I took off the slim case I have on the back of my phone (GW never had any problems working through this case) and then tried again. Even then nothing happened, I was about to give up and began to pull out my wallet to get a real card, when the terminal came to life and said "Processing Contacless Payment". I'm not sure if it managed to read through my case or if it only read after I removed the case, but if it's the latter, that might be due to the fact that ISIS doesn't utilize the built in NFC chip rather it uses the one embedded into the SIM which is obviously much smaller (the built in one relies on an antenna as big as the battery) and therefore has a much shorter range.
The bottom line is so far I still like it better than GW, my only concern is that it mentioned that if it detects unusual root access in the OS, it will not operate. I don't plan on staying stock unrooted for too much longer!

You might need to tell them to press the credit card button first or that you want to make a credit card transaction so they can do what they need to in order to process a credit card payment.

Worked for me on the second try. Gave me the same "Error Adding Your Account", but then I tried again right after and it worked!
After I turned on NFC it prompted me to replace ISIS as the default payment method.
I setup ISIS to get my 40.00 credit then got home and switched to Wallet and just used it. Worked great. Was spotty with the M7 using the modified Wallet.

Works on a stock VZW Moto X running 4.2.2 fwiw... I think once it worked how ISIS did, there was no "reason" to block it anymore - but i could be wrong.
Google sort of forced verizon's hand because it completely changed the way Wallet gets security, so verizon was not able to block it anymore. It was made to work with HCE so any device that supports HCE should work with wallet tap and pay now. Take that verizon!
Works well
I used Isis for the 1st time today at McD's and it worked great. Thanks to the board for the $40 credit heads up. Free lunches for me for a while.

Yep. Its better for all phones, not just Verizon ones. Any phone with HCE support in the ROM (which is almost all 4.4 ROMs) will work with Wallet and Isis.
No more secure element to worry about screwing up. This was a pain for people who swapped ROMs and whatnot and forgot to reset wallet.

If you are using Isis with Serve, you should also be getting a $1 credit back with each transaction >$1, a promo that goes through May?
Works especially well to buy me a Pepsi @ $1.06 each time
That is enough to get me to use isis instead of Google wallet until June, even though I prefer Google wallet.

That happened today at verizon.. I had the stock rom back on with root.. I root cloaked, rebooted, opened Isis and had my free $25... It registered that it went through but the reader didn't receive payment so they entered it manually.

As for where to claim the $25... You have to activate any NFC phone with verizon right now and u get it... Wether u bought the phone from them or not.

After you get Isis going and create an account you need to fill out the information to get an AMEX Serve PPD card. You sign up from within the app and it will throw you to AMEX's web site in a new browser window. It is when you sign up for the Serve card that you get the $25.
I just downloaded RootCloak module. It works great.
I signed up for the serve card. It took about 5 minutes and the new card is now in my wallet with $25 credit on it.
EDIT: WTF is up with the dueling apps? Isis wants to be default for trap and pray.
Then when you open Google wallet it won't work unless you make it the default trap and pray app.

I cant get isis mobile wallet to work it keeps picking up root. I have tried the rootcloak plus also and also rootcloak plus through xposed and isis keeps picking up root, and this was with the isus verizon activity app added to the list to block and there are no other verizon apps on the list to block. Anyone ?
We now all know how to add the CC in Android Pay by simply unchecking the root box in SU, add the card, then recheck.
Now the question is when you goto the register to actually use Android Pay did it work? . Please list if it successful
or not and what store it was used at. I really don't want to unroot but I will if I have to.
Please post your experience.

Is using Root Cloak an option? You can surely set Android Play & Google Play Services in Root Cloak to possibly solve this issue entirely.

Well that sucks. If it gets updated and working, would be the best way to go.
I've got to run to the hardware store today. I'm pretty sure they have NFC terminals...I'll give it a whirl.

From another thread
Found this post in another forum:
"My device (Nexus 6 and 5.1.1 M build) WAS working and was NOT rooted. used android pay this morning. I rooted my device today and updated my kernel to Franco because I wanted better battery life. tried using Android pay at Jimmy johns and Office max, both said Android pay can not be used with this card VISA XXXX.
I didnt have time to turn off root and try again but that stinks if i was not rooted and it worked this morning and now i'm rooted and it doesnt work anymore. I thought the check was only if you were rooted and trying to add cards. mine were already added, verified and working pre root so this is a bummer.

I believe the problem here is you need a Stock Kernel so there is still hope!

Unchecking root in supersu didnt work for me, maybe i have to uninstall busybox AS well ?

Confirmed working. Uninstalled Superuser SU from within app, reboot, added credit card (already shown from old Google wallet), enabled Superuser SU within app, reboot. Go to Trader Joe's and buy Tequila with Tap N Pay. Also screen lock / pin enabled.
I tried today at the grocery store I run and it said card not supported or something like that. This is with root. Im not going to disable root in SU every time I want to pay, its easier to pull out my wallet
Any luck?
That's disappointing

Tried to use at Walgreens with Rooted phone (Navy Fed, which is clearly on the list) and got "card not supported message". Too many people in line for me to stand there and turn off SU to try again.
Looks like we need some way to hide root from apps permanently
Transactions work for me while rooted. Only uprooted to add card. Might want to try different card. I'm using credit card. Good luck.
I got to add my card using the unroot, I'll give it a go if I notice some where I'm at that says androidpay I think walgreens showed it.
Worked beautifully with SuperSU and Xposed installed. All I have to do is disable SuperSU and I can add cards and do Tap and Pay.
Although it worked fine with my Wallet card, I haven't tried my others yet. Will post back once I do.

Tried to pay today with Android pay and was unsuccessful. My card was in all ready to spend money but got access not supported or something right after I put my phone on the card swiper. Should have gotten a screen but was in drive thru. Slightly saddened but removed the app until there is a better method.

I think they should have left wallet as an option to tap and pay until all cards are supported.
I just got a note 5 on sprint and I love it, but I'm really not sure if I want to root. Every device since I got my Samsung moment has been rooted (htc evo 4g lte, s3,s5 for the day I had it, and then the g3). Anyways, my question is losing Samsung pay worth rooting? I mean I love all the things I can do with root, I just wanna know what everyone's opinion is, so I can weigh pros and cons of rooting.

***get any available promotions before you root. I only got the free charger promo back in September***
-Root is useful all day everyday
-Samsung Pay is slightly useful at most a few times a day if ever

There is a thread on it here over in the general forum.
You need to use ODIN to flash TWRP and then flash a custom kernel, or just flash TWRP with ODIN and then flash a custom ROM. They are already rooted.

Why do you say Samsung Pay is only slightly worth it?

How often does anyone go out without your keys and wallet and drivers license. I mean really, I used it a bunch when I went jogging, but it's not 100%. The first time it didn't work I luckily had my wallet and my regular card swiped just fine. I rooted my phone the second I got home that day.
It's totally up to the user to root if need be. I, however, chose not to root this phone only because everything I needed root for I can accomplish without it whilst keeping Samsung Pay and Android Pay intact. I use the latter more than the previous so root is a no go for me based on that. However, I've tried Samsung Pay a few times and it worked with no issues. You just have to ask yourself what exactly do I need root for? These were my needs for root and the fixes I found to accomplish what I needed without rooting:
Camera Shutter Sound fix( Enforced Stream Silencer app)
Hotspot Mod( APN Settings mod. Need MSL # for this which can be gotten through Sprint Chat)
Ad Remover( AdGuard Premium App)
APK Backups/Restore( App Backup and Restore app)
System UI Backup( Smart Switch on PC)
Bloatware Removal/System App Disabler( Package Disabler Pro)
Add any app to MW( MW- Pen App Enabler Pro)
Themes( Samsung Theme Store)
These can all be achieved without root. More importantly, everything works as it should and when you need it to work without getting the dreaded FC and doing trial and error to fix it. If the Pros outweigh the Cons then do it. If not, don't root.
I honestly don't miss it. I have more time to spend with my family and not trying to find what a developer took out to make a feature of the phone work. I get updates on time without waiting for a rooted rom to be posted. I'm not trolling XDA or any other blog seeing when the next update is to whatever rom I'm using to see if hopefully the issues I had with the rom were addressed with the new build. Do I miss root? Sometimes. But ultimately I'm glad I didn't root. This was my choice. As I said, everyone is different. You have to do what works for you. I love that I have full functionality of my phone and confidence knowing if I try a feature it will work as advertised.
I stayed stock for exactly 4 weeks and used samsung pay a few times a day with 5 different credit cards. I've been rooted for the past 3 months and i do NOT miss samsung pay at all. I reap the benefits of root all day everyday because of the amazing ROM dev @tdunham and the amazing KERNEL dev @UpInTheAir.

Thanks for your insight, is there a bloatware List that you referenced?

No. I usually just remove the stuff I know about like Nascar, Ebay, etc. The system apps I disable are usually like the Calculator, Picasa maybe and a couple other things.
still waiting for my promos to go through, once they do, im gonna root it
