[Q] mp4 file audio sync issue - MX Player

I have a couple of seasons of a cartoon in mp4 format on my Galaxy Tab 2 and having never had a problem with MX before, now some of these files skip erratically and the audio and visuals are jumbled up in several episodes.
I assumed this was an issue with the file, but they play perfectly well on my PC through VLC.
Have updated to latest version through Google Play but still doing it.
Other files are fine, including .avi and another mp4.
Thoughts?
Rgds
P.S
Im a bit of a luddite tbh so please use small words and not too many of them in the hope i understand what to do.

It may related to video resolution. Galaxy Tab 2 is not so fast device to run high resolution video.
What is the video resolution of your mp4 files?

Thanks Bleu...how would i check that out, file properties?
Im tempted to its not that as it played first 20 episodes OK with no issue and suddenly started playing up.

Long press any video file
Select properties
Here you can see some basic info about video file.
Just check resolution for the files which doesn't have problem & the one which has problems.

Provide us with the media info of the video causing problems, as it will help us diagnose the issue. You can extract the media info using a PC app such as MediaInfo.

Question about video playback on WP7. any vlc like programs ?

hi
title say its all. is there any sort of program to play all kind of video files on the phone ? if i ever to buy any phone, i need to check this as its very important to me.

This only allows you to control VLC on your PC, won't allow you to play anything on the phone.
Zune will convert 99% of the media it can't natively play and it will do it pretty quickly and with very good quality. At some point in the future we will most likely be able to copy/past files onto the device and use 3rd party video software.

every video I have on my computer has played on my hd7. These are mainly .avi files (downloaded tv shows and movies from graboid).

\what about youtube files . flv files ?
youTube files .flv files, I suppose can't, as I usually download the YouTube videos with iFunia YouTube Converter and then it convert the flv files automaticly for me.
There are 2 players that normally can play many file type.
VLC player and Gomplayer, VLC is free~
here you can get: download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-13632_4-10267151.html
No dice as of now. Not possible without usb mass storage support, how else would you copy&paste the files over? The Zune software will only sync files it supports.
I'd say convert your .flv files to a common video format that every device can use, like .avi or .mp4 to name a few. I do it for my music videos downloaded from youtube. Those file formats should copy over easily. If not, zune will convert them effortlessly.

thank you all for the reply. but the hell if i am going to back to converting movies before playing them. gone those days when i wanted to put movies on my nokia phone because it couldnt play **** but mp4 or 3gp.
i think i will hold on for a while. plus the fact i cant purchase paid apps because i dont live in the US is a deal breaker too.
i guess i should wait for while. bummer, i really liked the browser and the interface a little of the device.
so .. any updates since then or still nothing yet ?
Nope I wish there was though. I travel a lot and take that time to watch movies and tv shows on my phone. I still have to carry around my TP2 while I travel now to enjoy my media. I completely agree that the days of conversion should be over now. I used to laugh at other devices that couldn't play xvid natively and now I'm in that boat .
I really hope this feature emerges either natively or through a 3rd party eventually.
this is why 3 people I know of traded back to android again. they thought they could just ftp over a movie fike (like on ios) and play it on the phone.
one of them actually said "so my phone.... can't. share a file..... with other PHONES?"
then the other guys shook their heads and continued moving music around between themslves. no computers, no chords, and no transcoding.
the one guy bought a galaxy tab along with a thunderbolt, and tried to craigslist his samsung.
all because there is no fole support. wow.
Semi-convenient workaround

After reading your post I decided to tinker a bit and found a semi-convenient workaround.
I tested downloading video releases for the iTouch and found that if I transfer them using the USB Device Enabler into the Storage\Video folder on my device choosing 'Don't convert just copy' when you transfer the video, then it shows up and plays back fine on the phone.
Obviously it would be ideal if i could playback any codec but for now this will do.

No sound in 720p .mkv, how fix?

I transfered some 720p .mkv files to my tablet (external sd) and the video plays fine in both the built in player and in mx player but I don't get any sound. If I play a smaller .avi file it plays fine with sound in both players. Any ideas?
Sorry if it has been posted before.
try using another player like diceplayer. I used to have this problem when playing mini 720p with the stock player, but not with the diceplayer
I'll just leave this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686675
Long story short: use software decoding for the audio.
Dice player works fine. Can I somehow watch full screen with out the black row with the three dots in de bottom?
Starting to hate this tablet more and more every day..
If you're rooted, get GMD GestureControl from the Play Store, and install Busybox.
Im noot rooted. Will probably root when a good port of AOKP is out

Why hate this tablet? it's the 3rd best atm!
And it's not the tablet's fault! Your video might have an unsupported audio format, or it may be corrupted.. Try playing the video from your tab on the pc. And can you precise what format is the audio?

I hate the lag when i browse the internet, my SGS is faster when scrolling around on internet pages. The internet apps I have tried freezes up ang gives FC at least 5 times every time i on the internet.
And many other things.
The videos works fine on my PC. It worked once with dice player but now I don't get any sound with dice player =/

New device, new fw, new problems. Most will be fixed by updates. The build.prop tweaks, for instance, made my .17 DE internet browsing _in powersave mode_ totally lag free (!).
You should wait for firmware updates, though. I'm afraid of what will happen if you accidentally brick your device.
Sound in players is accomplished by choosing software decoding of the audio.

Are you re-encoding video for playback?

So I'm looking at the infinity but was wanting to check on what the experiences most people are having with video playback.
How are you playing your files, streaming? BSPlayer, SdCard or onboard.
If you are encoding your files or just playing the native mkv/mpg files, subtitles etc.
I'd be very excited if you're able to play 1080p at high profile with 20+ fps.
I can stream my 1080p mkvs over wlan and play them with bsplayer @ ~ 23 fps with no recoding involved.

this. No need to do anything. Just drop the movie on your memory card and you are good to go. BS Player can handle anything.

BS Player can handle everything. MKV, AVI, FLV, MP4, its played everything i have thrown at it. I was even able to stream wmv from my pc.
There is a new quirk that has been forcing me to re-encode some videos lately.
About 1 out of 3 MKV files I have found (usually TV shows dowloaded online) have time/position information that is not readable by any android media player. What this means is that the file plays fine, but if you lose your place it is totally impossible to restart from any point other than the very beginning. So if you are 30 minutes into a 40 minute TV show there is absolutely no way to get back to the 30 minute point other than to play the whole MKV over again.
This has become VERY common lately. I have found no file characteristics that allow me to identify which MKV files have this problem. Only way to know is trial and error. Only thing to do with these files is to re-encode.
To check a file for this quirk just open it with any media player and then try to advance the position slider to some point in the middle of the video. When you let go the slider will go right back to the beginning. These videos can only be played start to finish and if you close the player it won't save your place and resume.
These files behave the same on my Infinity, TF300 and Excite 7.7 so its not unique to the Infinity alone.

Sounds like you are suffering from videos that do not support hardware acceleration (they require certain rates and options to be enabled).

[Q] Movies Freezing

I use a registered copy of ChewTune to rip iTune TV shops for watching on my TF700.
The transfer will state completed and apepar the correct size but about halfway to three Q's through the show it will free with a loud buzz.
Nothing I have tried such as moving beyond the point will help.
Tried several movies players with same results.
My question is there software that would scan the movie file and report or fix coding problems?
Thanks

Sounds to me like you either have something configured incorrectly in the ripper, or its buggy, but in either case it is unlikely a simple edit will fix the videos. The problem isn't likely a playback issue on your TF700, but try playing the vids on a pc and see if they work. If they do you might need to encode them differently. If not, then you might need a new ripper.
I am experiencing similar thing, but any show/movie stutters from beggining.
I use BS Player which worked perfectly fine until 4.2 version of android.
I think it is the ROM, not the movies. As mentioned, they work fine on PC/BoxeeBox - and they worked just fine on infinity, too - but not anymore.

Using MX Player on both 4.1 and 4.2 with no problems at all, perhaps your problem comes from BS Player.
I can second. I'm on CM10 using MX Player, and it can play my 1080p/5.1 bluray rips without any problems.

Been there, done that! Guys, loose both BS and MX and get Dice Player and all your problems will magically just go away! Works flawlessly over wifi too. Took me a month to figure this out and I had all your same issues. Thanks @jtrosky!!

I've always selected HW+ decoder but SW decoder always worked just fine for me too
Also have you tried playing other videos, or playing these videos on another device, to make sure it's not just a bad download or something?
Oh I just saw it's an mkv file, I use almost exclusively mp4, that shouldn't matter (android tablets are capable of playing both). Maybe try an mp4 or avi just to check and see
The problem is that it is japanese and i need english subs.
Will try thanks.

try symlinking the external sdcard directory to the internal sdcard
busybox ln -sf /<external card location of>/<goofy movies directory> /sdcard/<desired-location>
i thought hardcoded subtitles couldn't be changed or turned on/off ?
maybe you need to install mx player and it's codec pack as well?

I forgot to mention the codec pack, good call. Symlinking the external sounds like a good idea too. I also was under the impression that by definition, hardcoded subs cannot be turned on or off, that's what makes them "hardcoded."
I use VLC player on tab 4 7.0 and it works fine with all subtitles as long as .srt/.sub file is named same as video file.
