So you want to install a custom ROM? Then you don't need to root first, you can start directly with installing TWRP via fastboot.

Where did you get stuck with fastboot? Did you read my guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688891
It is safe to downgrade to .8 but there is no need for it. You can root the .10 firmware with Towelroot v1 as _that mentioned earlier.
Download it from here, unzip the file and install the apk on your tablet, then run it.

Whatever you installed, it's not my rom. I'm just trying to help users along. Not a single dev bone in my body ?
So how did you solve your recovery flash trouble? Post it so others can learn from it.
If you flashed the Asus apps they should be in your app drawer??

If you are unlocked you can just flash the SuperUser.zip from the chainfire su on xda to root as well.

rom2sd1.zip has nothing to do with this... Why are you flashing it?
You flashed the Asus apps in recovery and went through the Aroma installer to select those you want?
Don't know if the installer gives you the option to save the installation log at the end. Look for it, flash again.

I'm trying to install cwm or unroot my device so i can get the FOTA update installed but I haven't been successful

-Installing cwm itself, gives me install successfully but I cant boot into recovery( I used the reboot into recovery app and volume +power)
-I tried installing a recovery touch .img using adb it didn't work(I couldn't get the device into fastboot
I'v been going at for 2 days now, this 5th device to root and use custom Rom's for but I m really stuck on this one. what I might be doing wrong, any help is appreciated. thanks
What firmware are you on?
"parsing error" is usually a bad download or not compatible with your firmware.
its
HRI66.us_epad-8.2.3.13-20110511
kernel 2.6.36.3
Yeah that's a pretty old firmware.
What method did you use to root it?
Try this thread.

no luck with that one. I'm gonna try it again tomorrow on a diff pc.
the asus auto update fails every time I ran it, is that because of the device being rooted?

Do you have stock recovery? I also noticed you said +volume, It is -volume to get into recovery, just to confirm/make sure. If you have stock recovery you can try pushing an update.zip and using that, then flashing cwm on that updated firmware.

TWRP doesnt seem to be working.. and dual screens..

Tried to boot in to recovery to flash a root zip..
When i volume up to enter recovery, screen goes black. I hit power button and TWRP opens but its unusable and dual screen..top and bottom. Slide to unlock is on the screen but nothing works. Only way out is to hold down power and reset.

I know you can use that firmware to install KitKat ROMs as shown here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49028315).
Use the 10.6.1.27.5 firmware with this:
Tylorw1 said:
1. Download the latest version of Android for your tablet. Make sure you download the correct SKU version.
A. To find the SKU, go into settings, About tablet, and look for your Build Number, There are two letters (such as US,WW, TW, etc.) that is your SKU. When downloading the zip from ASUS', you must download the correct SKU zip.
2. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
3. Rename it to:
A. For the TF700 and TF300: EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
4. Make sure your MicroSD card is formatted Fat32. It must be Fat32 Format or it will not work.
5. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
6. Insert the MicroSD into the tablet
7. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
8. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
9. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button (on RCK, this is your recovery which should already be selected) until you see Android logo and process bar
10. Give the update process 5-10 minutes. It should not take longer than that. If it happens to run for more than 45 minutes to an hour, force shut down the tablet and see if it boots. If it does not, try rerunning steps 7-9.

Remove the "recovery", that means you are flashing to the recovery partition. So
Code:

for the stock Rom.

Flashing the stock wipes the recovery, so you will need to flash the correct version of TWRP this time . I dont think you need TWRP for motochopper. Since you are unlocked, you can just flash the SU binaries directly from TWRP.

TWRP should have the SU binaries built into it. If TWRP doesn't detect root when it is run from the bootloader, it asks you if you want to flash them. Are you trying to flash a KitKat ROM or a Jelly Bean ROM. KitKat needs TWRP -2.6.3.1

Hi, Mtkdroid tools is only for use with mediatek devices, which I believe your tablet is not. I am not familiar with your device so can't really help with installing a custom recovery, but I'm sure if you use the search facility at the top of this page or google search the web for 'installing cwm on Hisense tablet' you will find some resources. Google is your friend
i was able to load recovery, than I tried to load the 4.4 rom and now my tablet is in recovery. I turn it off and it go's to recovery,,,,crap,,,now what?
guess you see im having problems. But i got it un-bricked,,,still can't get the taktiK rom loaded

[SOLVED] TWRP Instal

Just got a brand new TF700T today. I unlocked it and rooted it successfully. I am trying to instal TWRP so I can instal CM11 however I cannot make it happen the easy way. Goomanager is gone (what happened with that?) from the play store. Both Flashify and TWRP Manager can't find a recovery for the TF700T. What gives?
Firmware 10.6.1.14.4-20130329 if it matters. JB 4.2.1.
Id really like to avoid fastboot if I can.

If you are still on stock the easiest way is to flash the latest Asus firmware.
Download your JB 4.2.2 SKU version from Asus support downloads site, unzip the downloaded file once resulting in another zip, and copy that second zip to the root of your internal SD.
The system should recognize the update file, pop up a notification about an update being available and flash it. If it doesn't, reboot.
You will loose root, but you don't need it to flash a custom rom following this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688891
Thanks to lj50036 I was able to get CM11 on there successfully. Everything is running so much better than it was with the stock rom. I really appreciate it!

Can't root after OTA 3.1

This afternoon I applied OTA 3.1 to my Shield Tablet, and reinstalled CWM and flashed supersu. My tablet booted correctly but I don't have root. If I open the SuperSU app, I get "there is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!" anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
I also just noticed that CWM is not there now. It was there when I flashed it with fast boot, but now it disappeared from which I don't understand. Also just to clarify, SuperSU installed as a system app from the zip, I didn't download it from the play store.
Reflash recovery via fastboot, boot into CWM then reflash latest SuperSU in CWM.

I'm having the same problem.
Im also with the same problem, on 3.0 i used kingroot, but with 3.1 doesnt work also.
Not sure how it works with cwm, not sure if there's a fine manager. But in twrp try mounting system, go in to advanced>file manager and go to the folder 'system' and rename the file 'recovery-from-boot.p' to 'recovery-from-boot.bak' or something else, and flash cwm or twrp again. Then flash your super user again.
King root 4.5 works to root easily
Got it rooted again
I finally got it rooted again.
1) Put supersu.zip on to sd card.
2) Flashed TWRP with ADB fastboot.
3) Rebooted into recovery.
4) Flashed supersu.zip from the sd card.
5) Rebooted
After that it was finally rooted again. Hope this helps anybody else who has this problem.
Unfortunately though since I got my tablet when it first came out I have a recalled one. This will be my 4th RMA. LOL

No. It restores stock recovery on first reboot.
Kingroot worked for me guys
What I don't understand is how the zip can install the SuperSU app as a system app, but not install the SU binary. Is it possible to manually copy the Su binary to my device? I have root access in recovery mode.
Dose anyone have any idea why this happens?
It works now with the new version of supersu

It dose say for 2.0, but it should work on everything. This is the "real" way, other methods are hacks that work only on certain versions. I prefer this method, it gives you the most insurance against damage, but you could always just use kingo root. Also, versions 2.x and 3.x are both lollipop.

Just out of curiosity, doesn't fastboot boot (image of recovery) just boot into the recovery and not flash it?
From previous experience, to reflash recovery you need something like flash_image or a way to write the image on the recovery partition... Correct me if I'm wrong...
