Hello,
I noticed a problem with my compass (which also affects direction in Google Maps etc). it seems to be quite a bit off (pointing North as due northwest). It's not my location because it was pretty reliably wrong when driving around several times too.
Anyone else have this problem?

I had a Nexus One for ages (still do) and that seems fine.
But on my new Sensation after the new Maps update although it "works" it no longer switches into car view mode that shows you the road ahead and stays as a map navigation system - the view is only from above.
Has anyone else encountered this? Does anyone know how to fix it?
Typically that means it can't get a GPS fix. Does the GPS icon indicate a fix? It could be bad luck with the location...
No it has a GPS fix. As far as I can tell.
Hello all,
I've been a long time lurker, but this is my first post. When I tried to post in the specific ROM's topic, it told me I did not have permissions and needed to post in Q&A, so here I am. If this is the wrong place, then hopefully someone can direct me to the correct place to ask.
When I use my GPS, it places me in North Carolina, off I-85. I've tried recalibrating the gyroscope under "Sensors" and I've downloaded and run GPS Fix. GPS Fix quickly gets a lock, but it's locked in the same place. For the record, I live in Virginia. All my location-related apps think I'm in North Carolina. Weather widget, c:geo (Geocaching), etc. The only app that puts me in the proper place is Google Maps.
GPS Fix and sensor calibration are the only two suggested solutions I've seen. Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this?
Thanks!
I am having issues with my compass when using the GPS Essentials and Phone Tester app. Basically, these apps both think that the compass is always facing south or southwest. The compass in Google Maps is working though, so I wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed this issue. If not, could someone try to replicate? I am trying to decide if this is actual hardware problem or if Google changed the compass API or something.

Those apps are probably not compatible with Android 4.4.
I see you have a Nexus 5. Could you please try to replicate the issue, to confirm? Thanks.

Well, I don't really have a Nexus 5.
I'm here just to help.
I noticed my compass was wonky in Google Maps and GPS Status. In GPS Status there is an option under Tools to calibrate the compass, and it asks you to rotate the phone 1-2 times along each axis (so spin it in three different ways). After I did that, the compass started pointing in the right direction.
Hi,
I'm hoping I could get some help from you guys with the compass on my N5. I'm not sure if there is a problem with the phone or if the compass just isn't accurate in a phone. What's your experience? Is your compass accurate in Maps or using a compass app?
Google sent me a replacement N5 for my GPS, it works well on the new phone. However, the compass setting is always wrong. It points in the wrong direction using Google Maps and if I use the compass apps, it is inaccurate to the point I know I'm facing north but it tells me east. I tried the calibration suggestions (figure 8, three axis) and that seems to work for a while but in a short time it's back to false readings.
Google said they'll send me another phone, but I hate to just keep sending phones back. I do use the compass on google maps when I'm walking in NYC downtown looking for a street so it is something I use. Thanks.
Hi folks, I have been facing a bit of an issue in using Navigation on Maps. I have reason to believe this is happening in mostly OPO devices ONLY! A friend who also owns a OPO reported similar issue. While using Maps Navigation I have noticed that the pointer doesn't move along or update as I proceed in a given route. This is happening even when GPS is ON and set to High Accuracy and proper data coverage. I would like to know if anyone faced or is facing this issue? What is the solution? Thanks.
COS: 12.0-YNG1TAS2I3
Android: 5.0.2
Google Maps: 9.14.0
i have the same issue. the little blue pointer doesn't follow you and after awhile, it says gps signal lost. however, it still give you a turn by turn if you touch the bottom part. I really need this to work because of my job need. anyone have a fix for this? I think this only happen after the newest update about a week ago
I don't think that this is related to the One Plus One specifically. It is happening on at least 2 or 3 different devices that I have tested it on.
Does anyone have the apk for the previous version of google maps so that we can re-test?
Edit ..... Try this one and see if it sorts out your issue.
