This is a nice mid-range phone and I got from Orange Poland with agreement. All works fine and fluid. Even during benchmarks it is barely warm. 7.5 mm thickness (Galaxy S4 dimensions) and very slim LCD bezel. Double click screen to wake device. White status LED etc.

Detailed specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/alcatel_idol_2_s-6134.php
In short:
5 inç 720p IPS screen
Snapdragon 400 4 x 1.2 GHz / Adreno 305 GPU
1 GB RAM
8 GB Internal (5.5 GB available) + microSD (64 GB Lexar 600x UHS-1 microSD tested, working after FAT format by 6050Y)
LTE 150 Mbps, 802.11n Wi-Fi Dual, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, A-GPS/GLONASS
8 MP Camera with Flash and Full HD Video
Android 4.3 Installed (4.4 Update Possible)
2150 mAh non-removable battery
Official support website http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/support/download/idol_2_s.html where you can download manual, quick user guide and two important apps.
Smart Suite for managing your mobile. (microUSB connection or Wi-Fi)
Mobile Upgrade Q for checking offical upgrades.
Some downsides:
MHL not supported, only Miracast
OTG not supported
FM Radio works only mono
Non removable cover
SIM Unlock
Mine came SIM locked. So I searched some and found a YouTube video that unlock is easy with FuriousGold device. Same person has an online code generator. I have no connection to them but I tested and it worked. Also really cheap only $4.9
http://www.oneunlock.com/en/tools/solution/alcatel-sfr-vodafone-motorola-unlock-codes
It all finished within seconds. I filled form. Operator code is written on product box, on top of IMEI code. After getting email I saw 4 codes and entering only first one was enough.
If you don't have a problem with SIM lock you don't need to do it naturally. But I detected it whenever installed a different operator's SIM card. There are only 5 trials and use them wisely.
Also if you want to play by the book, Orange Poland website asks you to go their office or call helpline for unlock and payment will be 77 PLN which makes nearly $25.
WARNING: When you unlock your device they have a right to say product warrany is invalid.
ROOTING
Again you don't need to root but I used to have programs like Titanium Backup, Xposed Framework, Viper4Android etc so I wanted to find a solution.
ATM the only method I know that works is Towel Root Only install it and click button. Matter of second and done. After that you might want to install SuperSU or Superuser app.
After rooting, there is a possibility that Alcatel official device updates won't be compatible. In that case unroot might be necessary. I haven't tried but SuperSU app has an Full Unroot option. Please let us know if you tried.
CUSTOM RECOVERY
ATM I could not find CWM or TWRP suitable for this device. Perhaps it is not necessary since there is no custom ROM / CM package. But I am sure custom recovery can be compiled.
UPDATE: Thanks to Decker.Kaluga, we have a compatible CWM recovery now. (I have not tried yet.)

Hi,
Very good summary! I have this phone for a few days and I have cited the same defects. As against the 4.4 update is already available? Or is it a prediction?
No there is no update at this moment. Mine shows Android 4.3 JLS36C. GSMArena shows upgradable to v4.4 (KitKat) but nothing yet.
I updated OP. Please download and check with Mobile Upgrade Q time to time. Different regions might get earlier.
I have same version of android
I noticed a mismanagement of the cpu frequency, making the battery down quickly. The phone rarely drops to 300mhz / 600 mhz. Even if I use an app like "No-frills cpu control" the cpu performs well then I locked state / unlocks and the cpu gets his bad behavior. (I use CPU spy to see an average of frequencies used)
I may be attempting a restore to see if it is not the root that caused the problem.
I am trying to download an "update" via mobile upgrade Q. I do not know if this is really an update or if he downloads the same version. In any case it is very very slow.
I just plugged.
"There is no greater software version available."

CPU Spy giving me a similar report. CPU works full time or sleeps, not visiting other states. I will install Frills and check if anytihng changes.
I find a solution.
1) Root your phone
2) Install no frills cpu control
3) Set the frequency as :
4) Important : click on settings
5) Activate "prevent changes from others apps" (Otherwise the change will affect only a few seconds!)
The frequency is now well controlled according to the telephone usage. Finished the maximum frequency for reading mails and gain battery life!
I will try your advice today.
I installed Usemon and observed core by core activity and it seems device use first and second core most of the time and goes for 1.19 ghz directly. In case more power needed other cores are activated. Maybe they cared about number of active cores, not the freq steps at all.

Yes it worked. Half time 300, half time 1190 MHz recorded.
OWN S5030 / Idol 2 S 6050 / TCL S830U
Here in Chile this unit came with the "OWN" brand, model S5030, which is actually the same TCL brand, model S830U or Alcatel OneTouch, model 2S Idol. The point is that this model can not even Rooting. I tried with Root Towel and does not work. As I read, it is because my kernel is later than June 3.
I was disappointed that the 2 slots lower speakers are only for design, simulating stereo speakers, when in fact it is monoaurual only on the right speaker.
The interface is terrible, and it's not very customizable. Thanks to Nova Launcher is easier to use.
Finally, I highlight the screen and 4 cores. The 1GB memory is low and unable to do root, I can not install the Adaway, so the ads have me rotten.
Sorry to hear Root Towel does not work. It means if there will be an official update it might refuse to install or even if installs then no more root solution.
Rooting helped me to install Titanium, Xposed Installer (Gravitybox) and Viper4droid FX. Last one improves the sound output clearly. But yes ext. speakers are loud but Mono.
I use Nova Launcher, too.
Don't forget to try Qualcomm's BatteryGuru app for Snapdragon SoC.
It's good to know I'm not the only one with this phone

Thanks for the answer. It's about time to have to get the root, so I must just wait a couple of months and Vroot friends or Towelroot they will succeed.
As data, yesterday I installed it on my computer the "Mobile Upgrade Q" software, version 4.6.5 from Alcatel page and it detected my phone without problems. After 2 and a half hours to get the "upgrade" from their servers (from China I guess), my phone was formatted and received exactly the same version as before: Android 4.3, Build JLS36C. I must admit that I breathed after that, and I could have left with a piece of brick. Relief.
It's good to know I'm not the only one with this phone. I will light a candle for the Root out soon. A hug and thanks again.
Hi everyone,
Please note an update is available from the phone (in France) (I have not tested with the PC software) but this is not an update to kitkat (4.3 still). She made me lose root and I can not put it back with towelroot. I have not seen any big changes, only a few details. I advise you not to do it ... unless you want to help me find a solution to reset the root!
So it is impossible to put the cpu setting with ... autonomy is not as good.

Vroot and Towelroot only works with the previous kernel version to 3 June. In my case, my phone already came with the updated kernel, so now you're like me, stuck for a while.
Having root again is only a matter of time so we just have to wait.
According to GSMArena, this phone will receive Kitkat, so hopefully our Chinese friends TCL (Alcatel) do not forget this model and check out the new version.
How Root Alcatel One Touch Idol 2 S (6050)
Finally I could Rooting my phone Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 S (6050), also known as ÖWN S5030 and TCL S830U.
The steps are:
1. Go to: http://www.decker.su/2014/11/cwm-recovery-alcatel-ot-6036y-ot-6050y.html
2. Download package 'cwm_alcatel_6050y.7z'
3. Extract all files
4. Install ABD drivers from file 'AdbDriverInstaller.exe'
5. Put your device in FastBoot mode (turn it off, than, hold Volume Down + Power button. After Alcatel One Touch Idol 2S logo appears, release buttons)
6. If you did everything correctly - Alcatel logo will stay on screen. Plug in phone via USB.
7. Run file 'check_device.cmd'. If Ok, you can see "9e0eb10 fastboot" caption at bottom of command
window (digits can be other). If you see this caption - follow next step, if don't - check adb drivers.
8. Run file 'flash_recovery.cmd' to flash cwm. All done. To boot into CWM turn off power, and hold Volume Up and press Power.
9. Now the SuperSU. Go to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/qa-alcatel-one-touch-idol-2-s-ot-6050y-t2902408/page2
10. Download file 'BETA-SuperSU-v2.42.zip' and copy to the phone
11. Flash ZIP with CWM

What did you try to update with, since there's no official update ?
And I have a backup of the 4.3 rom, you can restore the system partition with it

Managed to update with alcatels PC tool. (Took 8 freaking hours to download)
On update - I'm using the 6050a which currently has kk. I managed to capture the ota from the tool and I'm gonna try releasing a zip for 6050y (AFAIK the hardware is the same, so should work fine if build.prop is edited accordingly. )

N762 rooting
So im looking too for root this device.
I already try z4root, superOneClick and some ather apps to root, no one work.
I tried permanent root, temporal... Still not rooted.
Have somebody idea haw to do that?
P.s.4 day later...
I didnt find the way how to root it yet but already have internet connection on my laptop via my phone whith this UNNNlimeted internet from publickmobile phone(ZTE 762). Speed is slow: around 1.5 mb/s. But it is better than nothing. also didnt work which torrents and some of online video players. But youtube always work.
No Luck
I've been looking for a way to root my MAX for the last few days.
Drivers I have tried havent worked.
And I cant find any device drivers for Teleepoch or UMX phones.
Here's more on the device: h.ttp://umxphones.com/cdma/mxe-670
I think its gonna be quite a while before the driver ends up on: h.ttp://developer.android.com/sdk/oem-usb.html
So in the meanwhile I emailed Unimax to see if they would provide one.
Ideally i want to root the device just to get a few apps off of it that i never use and that take up valuable storage space that were installed by the carrier.
Ill keep looking and post if i find anything!
UMX do not answer nor reply to any communication
It is pretty sad that there is absolutly no support drivers for devellopers. USB Debugging doesnt work since no drivers for the Teleepoch HSUSB Device.
Not to mention the spyware (sorry but to imo, something installed and can't be removed, with non-essential use, and that send back informations is an spyware) such as Easy WIFI, and the fact that if you just disable it, it service still try to run every minute or so, and hog the bluetooth media audio. Seriously, try it, for me, I was seeing the EasyWIFI process service come up and 1 sec after the bluetooth was jamming for 1-2 seconds. As soon as I re-enabled EasyWIFI, without setuping the home network of that app, my bluetooth stopped cutting... figure!
That is why, is essential that someone find a way to root this device, or at least a way to debug for developpers, and a way to get the original firmware from the manufacturer, without the bloatware ?
(Edit: I've tryed to phone UMX at different phone number, left multiple messages, sent emails. umxmobile.com recently seem to went offline and in the support section, there a ftp address... idk )
Thanks for any results you find !
Zte root
Hey i got the ZTE N762 , and im new to the android world so i was wondering is this root would work on my phone (the ZTE n762 from publicmobile) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319257.
I just switched from Fido (45$ a month cityfido + 10$ for caller ID and voicemail) to publicmobile (unlimited talk, text and data on the island of Montreal) for 35$/month for 6 months then 45$, I don't need voicemail, only caller ID which is included.
With the N762 I was able to tether to my laptop with USB using PDANET v3.02, worked perfectly after I enabled usb debugging and so far I get the same speeds as on the phone itself (which is pretty slow TBH, but it's way better than fido's 2$/20mb data plan.
New to Android world too...
Ok so Yeah gonna introduce myself by telling yall what i be doing. So I wanna get ried of the twitter, the spyware, the inter grated programs that are stuck in my phone. You know the crummy clock, the lame calender, all that stuff that takes storage space in a memory card that really shouldn't have programs run such power to the memory that's powering your phone....anyway hope u get the picture. I tried every possibility to root the UMX. Recap I'm trying to use "one click root" I got the SDK developer kit. which i dont quite fully understand but for some reason u need it for "one click root" but "one click root" doesn;t see my phone. I thought maybe it could be because of USB not reconizing it into the program. Updating drivers dont work i installed LG drivers lol. My phone is not a LG. what im trying to say ive done everything i can to root it. And I am not proceeding to success just yet. I really wanna root my phone before any SOPA Bill try anything to get to my phone. Ill have spyware uninstalled. It would mean everything in the world to me. I would stop being paranoid of SOPA Bill. Or the NDAA Bill. Thats scary. We are in control. we are the users. and the 99% lol. Someone help us Root our phones....please and spanks - Splizzlah Savage
Well after installing LauncherPro all the ugly overlays around the icons are gone, looks much better with just the icons.
Also FoxFi in android market works ok for wifi tethering from the N762 most of the time, when it doesn't work, I have to pull down the notification bar and disable/enable wifi tether, and it will work.

Can you help me please

What did you use? On my side, it doesn't work either with PDANet, FoxFi and Clockworkmod Tether...
How did you do it?
Thank you
---------- Post added at 10:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:27 PM ----------
I found how to do it !!
When using PDANet, you just need to go on settings and hide tether usage.
It works!
You guys are lucky to get 1.5mbps, I get 0.3-0.5megabits/s where I live, I tried Speedtest.net on both the ZTE and the MAX, both give me around 30kB/s download and around 150kB/s upload.
Also to get FoxFi working you need this on the PC: User Agent Switcher for Firefox, just import this XML file
techpatterns(dot)com/downloads/firefox/useragentswitcher.xml
into it and choose a webkit based browser by clicking Tools->Default user agent. Worked for me, also I use my HTC IncS tethered to the ZTE N762 without any plugin, much more convenient to browse the web and watch videos.
How do you root this phone? Someone on here must have a method? I have tried evry exploit there is and every one-click to no success. If we had a custom recovery it would be easy, but i dont think there is one. Also, are there any stock images or tools to flash back to stock if we screw something up while trying to root it?(ie, odin, lgdp,or other similar tools?)
Also, every method i have tried keeps saying read-only filesystem for /system mount. Is there a nandlock or something?
I even tried using nautilus from ubuntu with root permissions and the phone in download mode to write to /system but it doesn't work.
Solved - Confirmed 3g, wifi, phone calls Public Mobile
I have tested a chinese rom that works in english. Confirmed 3g, wifi, phone calls, rooted, Public mobile, android 2.3.5 dev kept the rom stock just rooted with apps.
http://nolochemical.kodemind.com/rooting-zte-n762
Can someone post the network info for PublicMobile it would be good to archive it here while rom testing.
Real Method WITHOUT flashing chinese ROM
New METHOD!!!! I have finally found a way to root the n762. This method uses a clockworkmod recovery that i found online but lost the source link too.(I had like 20 tabs open at once and must of closed the tab,now i cant find it.)Credits to whoever compiled the recovery.
Steps.
Download the recovery.img
Download update.zip
using adb type: adb reboot bootloader
using fastboot type: fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img (make sure the img is in c: or just replace with the path to the .img)
when its done flashing type fastboot reboot
when phone is booted put the update.zip on the root of your sdcard
use adb and type: adb reboot recovery
the recovery will be upside down but its close to fully functional(adb doesn't work as well as some other things but it doesn't matter)
apply the update.zip from sdcard and you will be fully rooted!!
GOOD LUCK everyone
@bluntman420
Worked from the first try, thank you!
@sersoft2 glad it worked for you!
nothing for the max? or this method works too?
Not sure about the max?Don't have one to test.
Well, since our old thread was locked, and since I'm continuing the development, the new thread is here. Many thanks to ajeet17181 for giving me the final piece of the puzzle to resume the work.
I am continuing ajeet17181's work on bringing a working Android build to our Windows Mobile phone, the LG Fathom. As of this moment I am only working on the Kernel, where most of the fixes need to be worked on, so let's get to it, shall we?
Download any of the following Android versions:
Gingerbread 2.3.7 (includes Kernel build #119)
DOWNLOAD "einsteinecker_android.rar" (thanks to pizzaboy192 for hosting)
alternate link (untested upload)
What works:
-3G data
-Wifi
-Limited Bluetooth functionality
-Video playback
-3D gaming
-Accelerometer
-Outgoing calls
What doesn't work:
-Camera
-Incoming calls
-SMS
-Vibrator
-Light sensor
-USB
-SD card has a low chance of being mounted.

What works:
-3G internet!
-Accelerometer!
-Wifi
-Real USB support.
-Outgoing calls
What doesn't work:
-D-pad is not aligned correctly.
-Cannot power off from shutdown menu.
-Incredible power drain. This is caused by the phone remaining at a high mhz without any way to fix it. Even if you use SetCPU to change the governor, the voltage looks like it remains the same so power drains even at 245mhz! :crying:
-No multimedia. And by that I mean no gaming for you, anything 3D is not even enabled on the kernel.
-No camera
-No SMS
-Cannot receive calls
-No light sensor
-No vibrator

https://github.com/ajeet17181/fathom-kernel Note: this source is broken, and since I have heavily modified it, wait for me to upload full source someday.
Booting Android-Now, to use it with one of the above Android versions, first extract the android version into your MicroSD card (You must have at least 750MB free space on your card), and then copy the 3 files inside the kernel archive into the Android folder, overwriting any older files. Next, open startup.txt and make sure the line "rel_path=fathom" has the name of the Android folder in your microSD card, if the folder is "2.2", change "fathom" to 2.2.
-Same as usual, run clrcad.exe about 5 times, then click on "haret" .exe file. The kernel will take a while to boot, so let it sit.
Preparing your phone to enable 3G internet on Android
Now that you have the ROM, you will need to edit your phone to enable 3G internet. Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?azm89r85x6k2hhz (link thanks to da_reeseboy here.)
Please read the .txt inside the LGNPST archive on how to install. I can't help in that regard as I too funked my install until I undid everything and followed the txt file
After you set that up, download this: https://rapidshare.com/files/606560282/Clipboard01.zip, Or the the texty no frills way:
In windows mobile, change Fathom's USB mode to VZaccess manager mode. Open LGNPST and connect your Fathom. Go to "phone setting" and change default phone mode to GSM, and change the APN setting to the one your carrier uses.
I must warn that Android will attempt to connect when it boots, so be sure you have either an unlimited data plan or make sure you won't be charged if you use prepaid.
Current developments: Next phase of development will focus on the phone side (calls, sms, data). Because I am in a GSM country, I will be focusing on that.
Note: I am quite a busy person, and I won't be updating everyday, at the moment I have a grave matter to handle, and it is my 1TB hard drive. It has corrupt sectors, and it needs to be replaced. It holds crucial XDA data on it, so it is important to me. At the moment I can't afford a new one, so any donations is greatly appreciated in helping me remedy that problem. You can read more about my Hard Drive here.
Changelog
Latest Kernel:
March 14 2013
ReRun New Compile
This kernel was compiled differently than previous kernels, intended to join together the incompatible drivers with the rest of the drivers. This fixed several problems. Read here for more info.

November 23, 2012
ReRun kernel build 119
This kernel was restarted from the beginning, and slowly configured to the point where I found a solution to the "connect charger" error on boot. Basically, the kernel source had conflicting power settings combined from the HD2 and Tsunagi sources, and I simply removed the HD2 battery settings and provided a new working source code for the battery. I expect to use this as a base as I further eliminate the invalid .32 codes and replace it with .35 sources.

einstein 4x1 (NOTE: read any "readme.txt" files for instructions!!)
-Now, phone will no longer reboot when booting into android. You must make sure your battery level is over 26% in order to avoid this Reboot of Death bug, as it seems like the current build will reset if Android is in a mode where it will warn you to connect your charger. Perhaps we can change Android's low battery notification?
-NVRAM now pointed to /system/etc/wifi/, be sure to root copy the nvram.txt file into the new location.
-(for my modified Gingerbread build) attached are the correct key layouts for the Fathom hardware keyboard (thanks to www2287
Extreme Battery 003
-Re-started kernel development to ensure junk drivers were no longer included. This led to working Wifi, partial bluetooth, fully working headphone support, accelerometer, and as before, no immense power drain on standby. Overnight standby now a reality with Kernel 003!
Extreme Battery 002
Fixes:
-Wifi for Froyo, Bluetooth for Gingerbread
-Accelerometer works for Gingerbread only
-Headphones now work without fail
-Need more feedback regarding resetting while phone is on or off
Extreme Battery 001
Features:
-More CPU governors
-Overclock enabled (use at your own risk!)
-Extreme battery saving (need confirmation, my battery only dropped 2% overnight!)
Working:
-Main speaker
-Phone earpiece
-d-pad now aligned properly
-No more torn screen on the left side!
-Real power-down! Power button is the task manager button beside the camera button. Press this to turn your phone on or off.
Not working:
-Same as before, no outgoing SMS
-Wifi is dead :silly:
-Camera not working
-Never tried GPS...
-When headphones are plugged in, sound dies globally in Android.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where's my microSD card?
It seems strange, but this way worked for me: before you boot into Android, remove the sd card from your phone, then insert it, and then immediately boot into Android. If you did not do this when booting Android for the first time, do this method.
I'm low on storage space.
In "startup.txt", change "data_size=256" to "data_size=512" for 512MB of storage space. If you want more, change 512 to 1024 or 2048 for 1GB / 2GB respectively. Make sure you have that much free space on your MicroSD before you continue!
Can't start Froyo 2.2?
When you see the system process error, immediately press the side button beside the camera, then choose wait, then hold side button, then select power off, and the phone should look like it's booting again, and it should go into Froyo. If it doesn't, repeat again.
Can't boot into Gingerbread 2.3?
Due to a fault in ajeet's battery driver, the OS does not know what the battery life is at boot, and it thinks the battery is dead. Solution? Just make sure you have at least 70% or higher battery life when you boot into Android. I will try to focus on this, but as of the moment, I have not had much success in porting drivers into the kernel, as it is a rather complicated process and it has to be done in a way that will not break the wifi again. (This issue has been fixed in ReRun kernel build 119)

Awesome that we have someone working on this again. Slightly curious how hard it would be to port this work over to OpenWebOS... But I'll love to see where Android goes. I'd try using it if the CDMA radio worked.

I'm optimistic CDMA would work, that unfortunately might need to have the Android OS edited to support dual mode CDMA/GSM. A nice place to start would be the Android builds for the Touch Pro2.

We should also see what other Android-only devices used the same modems. The Droid series usually were world devices, as were a few others (none off the top of my head, but I bet they're pretty easy to find)
Worst case scenario would be to compile two different Android versions that are either CDMA only or GSM only.
I've got 3 Fathoms to test on, and would be more than willing to sell my unlocked one to someone who could use it better than I could (it's currently de-activated and I don't have a GSM SIM to test.
nice! thanks for your work einsteinecker
so here's my problem. i did everything as said. HTC logo comes on and that's it. i waited for 40+ minutes for it to load but nothing
edit: never mind. On the third try it loaded correctly

i was using 2.3.1 android before this. now i installed 2.2 and the difference in performance is huge. 2.2 is much faster and smoother on our device. can you tell me what is the key difference between 2.3.1 and 2.2? if there is none I think it will be better to have 2.2
forget this too. looks like both build work better with your help )
Also. when in android, and i connect USB and transfer some files onto sdcard. they dont show up in file manager until reboot, and sometimes they just disappear. this is happening since first ajeet build - not a new problem, but maybe you could look into it.

I recall most Droids from Motorola have the OMAP cpu, so I'm not sure if using the code for that would work on our Qualcomm stuff (I believe LG used a Qualcomm reference guide for the Fathom). I figured checking Qualcomm's sources first is a good try.

I've been interested in something. How is android on the newer updates? What I mean is that, I'm still running stock V4 Windows Mobile ROM on my Fathom, and there is no performance lock like on the HTC HD2 (full 1Ghz on battery). Does the V5 or V7 WM Roms have this too?

One main difference I see between 2.2 and 2.3, is that 2.3 rotates the screen immediately after you slide out the keyboard. 2.2 will only rotate once you open a program.

If you read the readme text file inside the 2.2 Android build, you'll see it's a problem of the OS:
"- USB Mass Storage (You can copy files from PC to PC. But Android apps cannot see the copied files in the phone before rebooting.)"
I think that is because we run Android from our SD card.

I am not sure what the differences between the OMAP refrence and the Qualcomm refrence designs are. I know the Fathom is a 1ghz Snapdragon, but not sure what else it has in it.
Also, what do you mean by performance lock? I run my own ROM (V6) and it seems to run well. I don't do OC, but I have successfully underclocked the device to 215mhz (somewhere around there) as a test and it was stable. Eeked almost two weeks of battery out of a test device that way.
maybe you could fix wi-fi too? it was working before, so if you could compare the code you could probably fix it fast.

IMPORTANT: when going back to Windows Mobile, do not, I repeat DO NOT reset the phone while Android is off (screen off, standby). Make sure Android is on before you go back into Windows Mobile, if you don't, Android will be locked into an eternal "off" state, and you will never be able to go back into Android again.

after 5 tries, i connected phone with charger and on the second try it turned on
Hi folks, after my previous build work for headphones and not Bluetooth, I tried fixing Bluetooth but now the headphone port is wonky :silly:
While that was happening, I found out why Wifi wasn't working. Now, on 2.3 Gingerbread Wifi doesn't work (probably firmware problem), but in 2.2 Froyo it does work, but can't find any networks
That's when I was trying to fix things on the Android side (not the kernel) when I apparently got one thing to partially work:
I hope you noticed the 3G icon on the top, yes it's very close to working, the only problem I've got is making the phone realize that there is a sim in there (and the outgoing number to dial). Now, 2.3 Gingerbread can see the sim, so I'm going to try that, but if this works, I think we're in for a heck of a ride
Once I have both headphone and Bluetooth support stabilized, I will upload that. The 3G and Wifi fixes involve the Android OS itself, so that means I have to uploaded the OS or give instructions how to patch them in yourself.

Well I certainly won't rule anything out. Right now any thing is a good thing to test, who knows, maybe the Droid actually has what I'm looking for

Performance lock is like this: when I had the HD2, while on battery (no AC plugged in) the phone will have only a maximum speed of 768Mhz. My Fathom does not have this, it is a max 1Ghz on battery and on AC. What I'm wondering is, maybe LG's V5/V6/V7 updates changed something, I'm not sure. I sure don't want to risk my only phone either, and there's more: what if all this time LG's updates also updated the phone baseband. So while I'm porting Android to our phones, maybe my updates won't work with the old V4 I'm running. There certainly is a lot of things to consider when doing this stuff :silly:

I think there might be a way to fix this, unfortunately I have had little succes porting drivers over to my kernel. It is one of the reasons why I can't get the camera to work yet, porting drivers is not as simple as copying and pasting drivers like in windows mobile.
But I think it could work, you see, my idea was to tell Android that there's a reset button onboard the phone (the one beside the charging port). LG has the code for this, which I was able to see, but haven't been able to get working yet.
Edit: Wifi is still dead on 2.3 Gingerbread, but I fixed the Accelerometer :victory:
Couldn't test Froyo because I broke the Android build, will redo and continue further tests
Awesome work! I'll run some tests on my end with the CDMA half if you'd like and report back to see what is and isn't working connectivity wise there.
As for the WiFi half: is it getting an IP address? Can you check the DNS settings to make sure they are being set properly?
As for the performance lock: none that I know of.
And as for the question about baseband: No baseband differences between ROM versions. They're purely a WinMO flash, and not a BaseBand flash. If you'd like, I can run tests on all 3 OEM versions of the ROM though, as I have 3 unused Fathoms, all on different ROM versions currently. I've even tried cooking a WinMo ROM that autoboots into Android (almost works, tempted to just put a HaRET shortcut in startup and strip out all WinMO core programs.
Froyo doesn't like my kernel anymore, even tried a different SD card and it still has a system crash on boot. I guess it's time to work on a new OS :crying:

Oh, that's what I wanted to know, if the LG updates include a radio update. I'm highly interested in knowing if there will be better performance in Android if they updated the radio.

We could also see what other devices used the same radio chip. I know that plenty of them are out there, it's just a matter of finding one that will provide an updated baseband and see how badly it screws up the phone (since we don't have the OEM baseband, doing that would probably brick any device you modded, if it went wrong)
How are you doing your work? any possibility of throwing it on some place like github so that people like me can try out changes and put our own in to help out? I have a test fleet just sitting doing nothing since I can't get much more out of Windows Mobile and cooking ROMs has gotten rather repetitive.

The kernel source is in the first post That's all I'm doing now, I get discouraged when I see the steps I have to take to make the Android OS, neither ajeet or www27 uploaded that and it's going to be a lot to download (I have limited bandwidth) What I've been doing is modifying Android while it's running (root access), and that's how I applied the accelerometer and that 3G thing.
Tomorrow I will upload the latest fix, which includes:
-bluetooth support (paired with headset and able to receive files)
-headphone support fixed
-how-to for the accelerometer (I will add a game so you can test it )
I'm currently prioritizing 3 things: why the SD card doesn't always mount on boot, charging the phone while using Android, and why my kernel doesn't like Froyo and the fixes that used to work.

what's wrong with charging? i dont see any problems
Random question: any way to get the Android main to boot off the internal flash? if so, I could build "ROMs" that boot WinMo and immediately start HaRET and handoff to Android. I tried earlier, but ended up with a failed boot every time.

P9 and roaming
Hi SAS007, I just got my P9 today and I can't make any calls at all. I am with T-Mobile, put my sim in, switched on and all the T-Mobile settings came up Access Point Name, etc. I also get an 'r' on the signal indicator which I believe means roaming. Every time I try to make a call, I get a message saying that roaming isn't enabled. Have you had any similar issues? If so, how did you manage to get around them?
Many thanks.

Hi mate.dont worry about the roaming thing.I noticed this on my device also.
when i went to make my first call i got the message that i was roaming etc..just okay it and use as normal the roaming R icon dissipated after a while. If your in the UK you can not have any problems roaming makes no difference...
Also in your data/network settings in the part for preferred networks select automatically choose/select network.

Great phone affordable price
Hi. I got mine from ebay and cost me about £70. I must say I didn't expected that but it is a great phone and still can not believe its price. I have no problems so far. It accepted my two sim cards straight away, my main one being on the Three UK network. The internet is much more faster than my previous Xperia Arc S. The battery life is great too. All day making calls and browsing the internet playing games etc. and still have got some left by the evening when I get home. This phone is a big joy and very affordable for students on a budget.
Have you guys tried flashing Android 4.4 KitKat stock ROM on the Cubot P9? I suspect that would increase battery life with 20% to 25%. If yes let me know please I would appreciate that.
Cheers

Could a kind soul dump and upload his cubot P9 preloader.bin ?
Tried the doogee ROM, screen was weird / all messed up so I reinstalled the stock rom at the top of this thread. The phone is half bricked now: phone starts only to show a blinking screen, in recovery or normal mode. SP Flash Tool is still working though.
I read that erasing the preloader on a MTK6572W can be messy, on some devices there appears to be some fixes. (Xolo A500s for example, see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46735224)
I hope there's a solution for the P9 as well..
Thanks in advance!
some updates
managed to flash a custom recovery (rua1 autoCWM v5.5.0.4 for CUBOT P9)
Thing is it acts weird: whole lines are shaking, when I go up / down it goes directly from 1st line to the 3rd etc
I guess the LCD driver on my P9 is different (brand new P9, sticker inside says its from march 2014).
I would gladly appreciate it if someone could upload a full ROM dump of a similar P9.
Thanks,
tieum
Have you tried search the ROM on needrom?
There are some dumps of the original ROM over there.

Hi
I had order this same phone by AliExpress in Hong Kong yesterday befor.
It is, expect the CPU, similar to the Samsung Mega6.3 without LTE.
The memory is this what I could better use. I need not more Link2SD !
Are you interested in link to Samsung Mega6.3 forum in Adroidhilfe.de?
Much poeple they are very interested in this phone and your description.
Do you have this phone?
If you want to support so you can see at needRom. You can find a original Rom with flashtool and How to.

Only the big battery from MugenPower or CameronSino (6400mAh) has other connectors (only an a other place).
All other is going on with P6S.

PS: @digitalac: I saw on your antutu-pictures it is OS 4.3.1? It is allrigth? How do you updated this, per OTA?
Its the same language-version? (multilanguage)
Thanks

I bought from Banggood.com, and received with 4.3.1 multilanguage. This phone can be rooted with Root Genius.
Before root must be this installed on pc to be recognized.

First time poster!!
Bought this phone and received it the other day.
I can't get USB OTG working though. I downloaded OTG checker and it failed, saying it is not OTG enabled.
Anyone able to get it working??
Also, a little annoyance, has anyone noticed that there is:
1) No way to stop the virbrating when typing sms/ internet address/ search - basically any typing is haptic touch vibrations. I can't find how to turn this off
2) If an sms is received, the screen does not light up, no lights flash to say a message was received so unless I open the screen, I would never know an sms was received. Same goes for email.
Has anyone found a way around these issues?
Thanks

Hi digitalac,
No, I already unticked the box when I got the phone but it doesn;t change the problem.
I still have haptic vibrating when typing anywhere on the phone (Internet browser, email, sms etc)
Do you have this problem?

audio problem
thanks for this thread ,
I bought elephone p6s 2 weeks ago , it is amazing except 2 problems that make me unhappy with this phone . I wish you can solve these problems to me .
first , the audio volume is too low to hear , i set all audio setting to maximum but the volume still low . Even I can not hear any incoming calls as ringtone volume is too low I should make the speaker close to my ear to hear it , I tried many applications from play store to enhance volume butall are useless , I can not hear any mp3 file or video file when i play it , i tried many players like vlc and winamp and mobo player , all are useless . I google this problem and I found many people complain from this audio problem in many other phones which have android 4.3.1 , I bought elephone p6s with 4.2.2. but when I received it I found that it hase android 4.3.1. installed , I googled for ROM 4.2.2 but I did not found even in needrom.com , they publish a rom describing it as 4.2 but when I downloaded it and Flash it I found that it is the same 4.3.1 ROM ,Realy I am disappointed and I do not know How can I solve this horrible problem .
second , The camera . It supposed to be 8MP but i the quality is not so good , the quality is of 5 MP cameras .
I'd also like to say thank you for this thread. How would any of you owners of this device rate its wifi reception, compared to other phones?
Homtom HT10
a new official firmware has been released:
HOMTOM-HT10-Android6.0-V01-20170226.zip
http://www.homtom.cc/
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By2t6rTTiNQNcEJ1QkpKQnhzck0/view?usp=sharing
no change log unfortunately
could you please report if those major bugs listed bellow are finally fixed?
is it rootable? if yes, how?
- no OTA update
- losing user language preference (simcard default language is used instead)
- losing connectivity (cannot make/receive calls)
- iris / pattern unlock crash/reboot
- random reboot
- screen calibration issue (not responding sometimes and it cannot be fixed with calibration apps from Google store)
- blurry pictures (slow focus and shutter speed)
- bad audio quality (over saturated)
- clean of malwares and chinese apps
Hardware features that were announced but never won't be available (fake advertising / SCAM):
- 5Ghz Wi-Fi compatibily
- NFC
- OTG
*** UPDATE ***
Ok folks... I removed the simcard and also the battery few seconds and flashed latest firmware with sp_flash_tool (firmware mode not download mode) and lost everything (all apps / data) but there is a good news... smartphone doesn't lose language preference anymore!
unfortunately smartphone is still losing connectivity and network (cannot make/receive calls even if there is network signal !)
(I thought it was solved too because it has worked almost half a day but actually i've still got this issue!)
so HomTom HT10 is still a useless 'smart' brick...
And HomTom is doing the same than UMI: banning from their Facebook page users reporting bugs or false avertising (OTG/NFC/Wi-Fi 5Ghz/full bands support/...).
Got mine 2 weeks ago and have not experinced any of the problem above. I think you have got a bad phone only(fake copy?).
I had a update as soon as I started the phone and it is now HOMTOM-HT10-Android6.0-V01-20170225, hmm yours is 0226.
I am no super user of phones but this one is working very good only the sound when doing the iris thing is annoying.

I'm looking for an English (or global) custom ROM for this device running Android 6.x or 7.x
MoKee, GizROM, LineageOS 13/14/15. Any ROM 100% working.
I bought one of these a while back and using it on the T-Mobile network for over 8 months. I also have not had any trouble that you stated above such as loosing connectivity or the iris scan crashing. I do agree that it would be nice if you could turn off the iris scan noise though. Love this phone and glad I took a chance when ordering it.
I may have found this thread a little late, but here I am. I have the Homtom HT10 running the firmware Android-6.0-V01-20161202 and I was able to root the device using Kingo Root. It's been a while, but I think there were some additional steps to go through before this root worked. My question is if anyone here has had success in rooting one of the newer firmwares, since I'm not sure if this root would survive the firmware update and I wouldn't want to lose root access.
Also, does anyone know how to replace the Kingo Superuser app with Chainfire's version?
mine was working good, i rooted , and install magisk and after a while i loose connectivity when make calls..i flash full firmware..format and all the stuff and still cannot make callss

I've flashed HOMTOM-HT10-Android6.0-V01-20170622 and so far all works pretty good (it keeps the language)...
Only audio EQ quality is poor (distorsion) and volume / quality issue in phone calls.
Not sure yet if OS is able to switch properly from a deficient 4G network to 3G/2G (because i'm currently using forced 3G mode in settings) but it seems to work better than previously.
flashing the Rom
Hi guys. I'm having trouble loading the latest firmware thru sp flash tool.
I'm running Windows 10 and I've installed the extra drivers.
Would love some help.
Thanks

I used a different version of flash tool and it started when I put the battery in. There's so many versions of flash tool I guess. But I got it working.
Thanks for the response!

My HT10 (got it a month ago) GPS not working
Hi guys
My HT10 GPS in to working. The phone is new, I just got it, and it literally only has viber and Here maps on.
The GPS tested today, not working.

Hello
I am french and I live in Ireland.
I have same problem with my Homtom HT10. My smartphone is still losing connectivity and network (cannot make/receive calls even if there is network signal !). I indicated the problem to Homtom who asked me to update Firmware but it did not improve the problem. Homtom suggests me sending back the smartphone for repair but postal charges are very expensive for China.
No solution... I have to restart my Homtom all days if I want to send a SMS or make a phone call.
Perhaps a problem with the SIM Card ?
I got mine since 4 months ago.
Probably the worst android I ever got.
It is fast ok and charge is really quick but its always losing connection. Its more like a photo camera and mp3 than phone.
The other stupid thing is that can connect Wifi 5Ghz and the 2.4 is really slow.
I have already stock firmarware 20170622
Serious Homtom ??
Hi
My question to Homtom :
When Androïd 7.0 Nougat is going to arrive for my Homtom HT10 ?
Homtom's answer :
Dear customer,
Hello.
Unfortunately, we don't have any available news about update to Android 7.0 on HT10 at present. Please note that the original Android platform could not be upgraded in normal situation.
Best regards!
