I deleted these two apps to install Nexus 4 clock app, but it did not work. I would appreciate it if someone can share them with me. Thanks

just take it out of the clean rom zip file you downloaded and extract it from there
Thanks! I forgot about that. So I got the apps but failed to install.

What exactly are you trying to do?
I uninstalled htcclockwidget and world clock to install nexus 4 clock, but it didn't work. Now I'm trying to reinstall those apps, but it doesn't work. I used root explorer to move the apks in the system/app folder to install.

are you installing the apks? thaat probably wont work, what you would do is take the apks and move it into system/apps using a file explorer that has root access like rootexplorer paste it back into the system/app directory with all the other system apps and set the correct permissons and reboot and you should be okay

Hey guys,
I think I accidentally deleted the people system APK?! I can no longer save contacts. Wondering what the best way to fix this issue would be without flashing back to stock rom. I am currently rooted and running stock 4.4.2 KK, but I have made a lot of MODS and am running the Galaxy Gear Manager for my watch which is a huge process to get running that I don't want to have to repeat.
Any help is mucho appreciated!!!
If you can find the apk somewhere install that. Otherwise flash the system.img from the factory image.

Will flashing the system.img reset everything?

No, it'll reinstall all the system files. If you modified any of them you'll lose that but I doubt you modified any. This will only work if your bootloader is unlocked. If it isn't then you'll lose everything unlocking it.

Have super su on your internal sd card so you can flash it in your recovery. You'll lose root.

Do you still need help with this? It's not that difficult to just pull the app and move it into the right system folder. Once you do that, change permissions to match the other apps, and reboot, you should be back to normal. I'll post the apk if you need it.

Hi,
It's Contact.apk you would need?

No problem. I'll have it uploaded in a bit. It's just the People / Contacts apk, right? And you're odexed or deodexed?

You can pretty much just download any ROM available, extract the Contacts.apk file (I think its in system/priv-app/) and put it on your device.

Yes, the People/contacts apk, and I am still stock, just rooted and have an unlocked bootloader, so odexed, I believe.

I tried that with one of the apk's I found, but I couldn't get it to work. I may have gotten a corrupt file though.
Here's a flashable zip in attachment (wipe Dalvik cache just in case) for Contacts.apk (with the .odex file)...
You still have ContactsProvider.apk?

He might not be in a situation where he can download a large file like a complete rom. He did mention being at work. Anyway, these should work:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9903887/Apps/Contacts.apk
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9903887/Apps/Contacts.odex
If you are deodexed, let me know, and don't use just the apk ^ there or it will force close constantly.
Just use a file manager that has root access (ES File Manager is a good, free choice, if you don't have another) and move the app and odex file to:
/system/priv-app
Make sure to change the permissions. The 3 Read options should be checked and the first Write option. If you aren't sure, just read the permissions of another app in that folder and match it. Then just reboot and should be back to normal.

Awesome!, thanks. The only thing I see in my app/system directory that pertains to contacts is the "GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk" I will be attempting to get this fixed when I get home in a couple hours.

You need to change the permissions. If you didnt do that, then it wont work. es0tericcha0s explained it in his last post

Dumb question, but did you reboot?
Hello , I have deleted Camera App defaut and when i try to reinstall it , failed , so please help me with flashable file or anything to do please
If you have the original apk it's enough to copy that file into /system/priv-app/ and give it 644 permission, then reboot and it's done.

Yes i haven't touch it before , I have desintall it with titanium backup accidentaly
It has to be out in the "system" apps folder. I don't think you can just install it like a regular apk.

How did you try to re-install it?
You can't install it the normal way.. You have to copy the apk AND the odex file to /system/app

I have tried this , but no result :/
please who can help me with necessary file ?
I have a OnePlus One CM11 rooted.
I read a post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064859&highlight=deleted
And therefore I "played" a little bit with my phone with those things:
1) \System\priv-app\ContactsProvider.apk
2)ContactsStorage from Setting ->Apps->All->ContactsStorage
Somehow I ended up with the situation that:
1)ContacsStorage does not appear at the apps list.
2)The directory \data\data\com.android.provider.contacts have disappeared.
I want to reinstall\flash the ContactsStorage app.
I know that reinstalling the rom will fix it, but I'm trying to avoid it.
Do you know of any other way I can do it?
Extract it from your ROM zip. Copy back to it's original location with a file manager (Root Explorer), set permissions and reboot.

I don't have my rom zip (This is the rom that came installed).
But returning the original backup apk and rebooting did not do the job

Then you are doing spmething wrong. What do you use to move? Is system set to R/W? permissions set? Same folder?

The problem that the apk is vanishing after reboot is not a permission issue. Try a better file manager (in my case Root Explorer never fails). Mount system as R/W and do the rest.

The apk is NOT vanishing, it stays there.
The app of ContactsStorage is vanished from the apps list permanently.
As well as the folder in \data\data of com.android.providers.Contacts.
The option to sync google contacts is gone as well.

I don't know what the odex file is.
I did not back the odex file so I do not know if it's the original, but there is a ContactsProvider.odex in there.
