[Q] Unlock screen button not functioning

Last night the battery died on my Tilt 2, I plugged it into my computer to charge, figuring I'd sync it at the same time, and turned it back on. Once the phone powered up, the computer displayed a message saying the phone was locked, and I need to authenticate on the device. No problem, I go to put my code in, it says I used the wrong code, try again this time I'm sure I typed my code. Phone says I entered the wrong code, I keep trying, this goes on until I strike out, it tells me to enter a specific code "a1b2c3" which I do. From this point on, the unlock button does nothing when I press it. No error messages, no unlocking, it just sits there.
At this point, I assume my only option is to do a hard reset, but I'd like to try to avoid that (wouldn't we all, lol). If its my only way to get back onto the phone, I'll do it, just want to explore my options first. Thanks
Yeh i think a HR is the only way out
Do you have a backup of your data? PIM backup is good

Hard Brick (possible hardware failure)

I was wondering if I've encountered a common failure mode with my Verizon Galaxy S3 and if there are any possible solutions.
A week before it bricked, the phone was acting rather odd, rebooting itself spontaneously and at random; I didn't really think much of it until the following week. Applications on the phone had been running VERY slow and would often crash or hang; in addition, the phone was rebooting itself several times an hour at this point.
The last reboot hung for a while at the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen before going to the home screen. At this point I realize there may be something serious going on, so I attempt to SSH into it and retrieve important information off it. Unfortunately, it proved to be too late; login attempts failed with "Argument list too long". A few minutes after my ill-fated attempt to save data, the phone crashed in the app launcher and initiated a reboot again; only this time, the Samsung logo never came up. Since then, I have been unable to power it on, enter recovery, or otherwise get any life out of it.
It's long out of warranty so I'm basically wondering what my options are to revive it and possibly get important info off it. Reinserting the battery does not work and neither does plugging it in. All options to enter recovery or any other sort of mode fails; it essentially acts like there's no battery inside and does nothing. Is this a common failure state for S3 units and is there a known solution? Has anyone ever used JTAG to retrieve information off the storage inside?

Plug it into your computer, or a wall outlet with the battery out. See if it mounts as a strange drive or the led light flashes for a second.
Oh wow. Yes it does have the red light when I plug it into the wall outlet without battery. Haven't tried the PC as I'm leaving for work and my USB wire is in the car but I'll assume that will work when I try it.

At least it isn't completely fried, this method should work:

Make sure it has no other sign of life first.
If you were on 4.1 then make sure you don't use a 4.3 file and lock your phone. Might have to do some digging around to find them, but they are around here somewhere.

I think my phone is hard bricked! PLS HELP!

I have a totally stock phone, i.e. no root no flashing. From about a week ago my phone had a weird problem of automatically rebooting, also getting popups like google play services has stopped. Same messages came yesterday so i switched off my phone and when i tried to turn it on, it just wont turn on. It is not charging too and i'm sure it is not taking any power to charge or at least give a sign of life. Then i tried connecting it to computer, and in Devices and printer section computer shows unspecified device. It shows it for few seconds then wont and after few seconds it shows it again, and this process keeps repeating.
So if any one knows what can i do to solve this problem, please help!
Any help would be appreciated!

[Completed] Help! Samsung Tab In A Mad Bootloop.

Today, with my Samsung Tab A, I have accidentally gotten my tab on bootloop. Although I was expecting it soon, as it is rooted, and I've been doing some crazy operations. Unfortunately, the device does not turn off, but if I do a reset, by pressing all of the buttons, it restarts the device and continues the bootloop. I try to put it in recover mode and safety mode, but after pressing the correct buttons, nothing happens, as it does not turn off. It does not connect to a laptop, or any other means. It is so awkward as well, as I had 100% charge.
Is there anyway how I can recover my device? Or should I just take it to a shop to try to get it fixed. Or just end up buying another device - which is my last resort.
Thank you for reading, any response is very appreciated.

Greetings and welcome to xda, if you can't get it to connect to the pc then I don't know of any other way to rescue it. If factory reset doesn't work and you cant connect to the pc to use odin or kies/smart switch then I think you will need to take it to a service centre
Good Luck

Galaxy J3 2017 Black screen, can unlock with keyboard and unsure what to do next.

Hi all,
Firstly I've looked on all black screen help pages but none of them help. Last week my galaxy j3 2017 model died. The screen is just black, but the phone 'works', and by that I mean if I ring it the phone rings, notification sounds still happen but screen is still just black. I've charged it, let it die, tried all combos of reboots but nothing. Using an online guide, if I plug a USB keyboard in and tap my code followed by enter I hear the phone unlock (yes it has a pin screen lock). I then tried to plug into a laptop, but using Windows explorer, my phone is there but going into the phone, the folder is empty. I'm guessing this is because I can't enable file transfer etc on the phone. I'm at a loss wgag I can do. Samsung said I can take it to a shop to be fixed, but I have a few weeks of data and files I want to try and rescue first. Can anyone offer any advice please?

your screen is dead on your phone and your not going to be able to get the data from your phone. All you can do is send it in to samsung.
Ok, thank you. At least with this confirmed I can just get it fixed and hope a file recovery tool may help. Thanks again.

If you haven't taken this for repair yet then you can confirm a dead screen if you see nothing at all when restarting the device.
However it IS possible to rescue the data. There are various ways to do this with a blank screen. Obviously the easiest is via MTP. There is also Smartswitch.
Adb is also an option.
This would be trial and error until you hit the right spot to enable usb transfer.
