Any daily Infuse users left? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Just out of curiosity, I know this phone is a bit "dated", how many of you are still using your Infuse on a daily basis?
I owned a few higher end Android devices, switched to prepaid and the iPhone, and then switched to an Infuse.
These forums have obviously died down, but I was curious about whether it was due to many of the devs moving on, or everyone moving on. Lol!

Infuse has been my phone since the last three years. That said, I am waiting for the Nexus 6 which would be my next upgrade. I am still amazed though how Infuse is running 4.4 smoothly

Yeah it really is a good device. And it still seems to hold it's own.
The Nexus devices are wonderful. My last contract phone was the Galaxy Nexus. I loved it. Right up until it died completely.

yes, i am still using my infuse with carbon room

I'm glad to see some responses. I'm sure the devs have slowed down. That's just the way with this stuff. But, it's still a great phone. It has less issues than my S3 or GNex had.

I still run cm11 in my infuse... But anymore it is for my daughters to play with... If this device had a gig of ram it would be running strong.

Absolutely agree. This phone would still be a contender. But, I really an impressed with how smooth it is. I really haven't had any issues.

Games that scroll tend to lag on anything other than stock... But its by far trash just yet.

Yeah it's not a heavy gaming device really. Maybe OC'd and tweaked. But all I play anymore is Plague Inc.

Problems with Camera...
Hi all, i'm actually using this phone daily, the stock rom (AT&T Froyo) camera runs smoothly, especially in the video recording function, but i can't get it to work that good with other updates, from Gingerbread/ICS/JB to KitKat it keeps on lagging and freezing constantly, i'm actually using 4.4.2 CyanFox Rom, which i've just loved, but the camera still keeps lagging, how can i fix this?? what kind of apps you guys run to keep the phone running smooth free of lag?

Even though this phone is still a decent contender, it is going to lag from time to time on JB/KK. They are much larger systems and require more resources. It's amazing that the devs managed to get us such a smooth KitKat experience really.
That being said... I have managed to keep 4.4 running fairly smoothly on mine. First of all, I make sure to fully close out of each app I'm not using. The built in task management in Android is a lot better than it used to be.. But its not much of a help on an older device like this.
If that doesn't do enough for you look around for a stripped down minimal version of CM and a minimal gapps package as well.
If you're willing to stay on top of it and deal with some lag time to time though... Then any of the KK ROMs will be good to run. But, if you want it to be smooth and not have any work arounds or issues you'll want to stick to a more stock ROM.

Im really impressed to about this phone. I was using a Xperia SP. The experience with CM11 is pretty awesome, wish the device had 1GB RAM, then it will be a badass.
Im that one type of social network guy, i use the camera very often, in CM11 the camara loss his quality and the focus is not working that well, thast a pitty, but i get used to it.
Cheers.

Yep! Got another user here-- I have been using the Infuse for about a month since I pattern locked myself out of my beloved Atrix without WiFi or USB Debugging on (i do NOT want to factory reset it but am loosing hope for a workaround that actually works ) I text a LOT and am seeing a lag now which Im attributing to the texts building up... It has shared internal memory, right? Also do you guys know if it has to be rooted to over clock? Im figuring it does, and still need to do more research into what OC really does, but Im pretty sure all my machines need it! hahaha
Glad to read Im not the last one riding the Infuse train <3

I'm jumping back on the infuse train, main for play, my daughter to play with, and my music player. The last time I looked at it the battery was low, then I moved, and when I turned it back on, I got a blinking white screen. Figured the battery was dead, I got a new one and now the white screen turns on. I haven't need a jig in a while, so I have one being shipped to me now.

Ouch! I did that once on my first device... it really sucks.
The lag could also be caused by things running in the background. Its just not got the umph to handle a lot of multitasking or background processes. But, the lag is usually only for a few seconds from my experience.
If you want to OC you will need to be rooted. You will also need an app like SetCPU or a custom ROM with those settings built in. But, keep in mind every device is different. And never tell it to set on boot unless you've really tested it out, and know your phone will be stable and can handle the frequencies you set. It may also eat the battery like crazy haha!
Once you get the hang of it though adjusting it and setting up profiles can really make your experience more enjoyable.
Did that muddy up the water some more?

If it had 1gb ram I wouldn't need another! Phone for a long time haha! It'd be perfect as a daily driver. The camera issues are a pain sometimes, but I have digital camera and I don't do much social networking.
Have you tried ICS or JB to see if the camera works for you?

Actually yes, i`ve tried ICS and JB, its the same issue, tried to install the camera app from stock GB but i didnt work. Im thinking on testing this Open Camera or this Focal
Yesterday i installed the last nightly from CarbonRom (07-09-2014) and i see a little difference.

I skipped those, so I wasn't too sure. I was going to suggest one of them and the Xposed framework to add some KitKat like features. Haha!

Hello to all,
I have recently be given one from my son who does phone repairs.
Moving from a moto defymini with only 165mb of memory, i am very happy.
The phone had a power button issue which my son fixed by soldering a new one.
Phone worked amazing for two weeks til it just started rebooting, so im in a bind now. Have tried the gtgunbrick for odin but still, it boots up to the setup screen and just reboots. My son is stumped with it so ive been looking around at all the forums and youtube vids for solutions.....still no joy but im hoping to get it fixed. The infuse, tho old, still packs a punch and is a cool phone.
all the best

Trying to decide which ROM to go with, hoping it fixes my issues

Ok, I was an early adopter of this phone bought it the day it came out July 18th. There are a great many things that disappoint me about this phone, main thing being lack of Froyo at the moment. I'm tired of waiting for samsung, I have little faith it will truely resolve my issues which are the following
In order to use wifi I must reboot my phone, this only occurred after the official JH7 was loaded on it through the over the air update that ATT did.
Constantly having lag all the time, and having apps running that I never ever use and dont want such as ATT Navigator, ATT Family Map, etc. I was able to root the phone and get rid of those but it really hasnt helped.
My stereo bluetooth headphones must be paired EVERY single time I want to use them, its not the headphones because they work perfectly with 4 other devices.
Of course the GPS, it sucks for everyone, any of these or all fix that? Samsung seems unwilling.
So maybe I'm wishing too much but I've watched almost every youtube review of the ROMs that are out there and theres a few details that stick out for things that I want in a rom so I'll detail them here and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction as to which one has the best combo.
1. froyo based, I need 2.2 for certain apps
2. I've heard theres different modems that can affect HSPA, I want fastest download and upload.
3. No wild color schemes, I dont like orange or green. I quite like the look of the phone I think samsung did a great job with the touchwiz and I know theres alot of you out there that perfer the "vanilla" versions of Android. I'm not one of those people. I really loved the look of the cognition rom and some of the things it had visually.
4. Overclocking would be nice but not at the expense of battery life, I'm right in the 24-30 hour range just as most are on here, better would be great if possible.
Go to romkitchen.org and build your own there. There are many threads about the advantages of one modem over another, and you can pick pretty much everything yourself. Then search for CLShortfuse's GPS fix and you'll be set.
Don't worry, its extremely easy

30 hours, you have to consider what you are asking. I want faster dl, no lag, better gps, but I don't want to eat any more battery. It is possible to get 30hrs of light to moderate use. Heavy use will yield 12-18
Andromeda v1.2 is a rom that is pretty vanilla....simple and has the things your looking for. You have to try roms that you think will be what you want.

+2 for Andromeda 1.2.
You can fix all of these if you root the phone. The best ROM out there is the Rom Kitchen (aka "Doc's ROMs") over at romkitchen.org. You can "cook up" your own ROMs using the specifications you want. This is what is so great about the ROM kitchen, especially when compared to the other ROMs like Cognition: you can pick what you want, and don't have to take whatever it was that someone else decided was best. For example, if you want the benefits of rooting but want to keep touchwiz, the ROM kitchen has an option for that. It also lets you pick things like the theme, boot animation, apps, etc. There are 5 captivate modems, and you might just have to experiment to see which one is best. I did this, and it was well worth it. The one that worked best for me was the XXJPP modem. Just load a seperate ROM with each of the different modems, flash each, and download a few things to see which is faster. Also check and see how well the GPS works on each.
Rooting will fix the lag, although one of the ROM kitchen kernels (Glitterball's Voodoo) will improve it even further. There is something called "Project Voodoo" which is a community of developers who build a kernel tweak called Voodoo which completely fixes the remaining lag issue (this is caused by the inefficient way the captivate organizes its folders), and also improves a few other features such as resolution.
You should go try out my ROM its small and fast and stable. I'm getting great battery life and DL/UL speeds. Give it a shot.
Here.
Well I decided to go with the serendipity 5.9, I love the speed, my upload and download speeds almost doubled, bluetooth and wifi finally work like they are supposed to!!
I do have a few complaints though, like the keyboard for texting, I loved the samsung one, I hate swipe any way i can get the stock one back on there?

Need to get started on custom icons and I think I want to try my hand at a completely custom framework. Anyway, I was perfectly happy with 'dipity out of the box, but since I've flashed Paragon this phone is AMAZING. It's quite fast and the battery seems to last forever. Just now recharging for the first cycle after having to reflash my rom w/o a full battery, so after today I'll know for sure how long the battery last, but initially it seems like I'll get a day or so with my daughter constantly playing video's and games all day.

I wouldn't mind knowing either. I'm thinking it's a different launcher, but I'm only guessing. Still kinda new to android.

From Inspire to Atrix back to Inspire :D

I really enjoyed the Inspire but I started to get all crazy reception issues where I couldnt make a call or receive sometimes. Anyone else having these issues? Someone at the att store said alot of ppl are complaining of this.
Yesterday I exchanged for the atrix and it felt a lil bit more snappy, nothing to wow me but I could make calls and receive, no issues at all. My main issue was it would hardly charge on usb from any pc I used, and it would get really hot trying so right there I said, this is going back. In less than 24hrs I was back at the AT&T store to get a new inspire.
I really dont want to have any reception issues, and I almost believe all the flashing roms, radios, kernels, I messed something up along the way. Heck, Im even scared to root now. I want to use the phone totally stock and make sure it works great whereever I am before I root even. I'm also wondering if rooting causes battery to drain quicker.
So I ask all you experienced Android users/developers. Am I right in believing that all the flashing I've done might of messed my reception? Even maybe rooting might have messed something up? If not, is there a way to make a complete backup right now, so I can go right back to this when I do begin to root and what not. I almost feel like the stock rom, when I went back to it and unrooted before I returned the last inspire made no difference. The new Inspire seems to hold a better signal now. So can I back up the current stock rom before I do anything?
Interested to hear what advice this drums up. I went from Atrix (painfully bad PenTile LCD, shamelessly locked down) to Inspire back to my old N1 because I got a few days of no signal and missed calls in the office. I read recently that there's some sort of leaked magical radio that fixes a lot of the issues, so I'm keeping an eye towards the Inspire. $20 at Costco is a worthy use of my contract upgrade.
Yeah, there are other phones coming down the pike. I'm stuck with AT&T and given this is an otherwise solid phone and how awesome HTC tech support has been with my N1 I don't want to go with another mfr. Also Optimus 3D has only 512MB RAM? WTF?
If you have patience, your issues will be ironed out. Inspire ROMs and development is still kind of early.
If you just be patient, GPS...reception....bugs....will all be a thing of the past. Both devices are excellent. HTC build quality and 'openness' is something to envy. Just relax, I think you made a wise choice.
Just out of curiosity, what rom were you running when you started having issues? I'm on stock with root and have yet to have any problems with gps or reception.

nailed my main problems right there (in bold)...
Nice to see you lingering in the inspire forums DG
I purchased the Inspire the day it came out and absolutely loved it. That one had major issues with the screen. It would not register my touch about 80% of the time. So I exchanged that one for another Inspire and the second one had all sorts of problems. Dropped calls, calls no received, no VM notification, random reboots, and of course the always popular, locked phone that required a battery pull.
At that point I just thought the Inspire was not that great of a phone so I exchanged for the Atrix. When the phone arrived I knew two seconds after it booted that I hated the phone. It felt cheap, it was tiny, and Motoblur reminded me too much of TouchWiz - which is a shame because the guts of the phone should have made it a monster but Moto has a long way to go with their Motoblur. Within 2 hours of getting the Atrix I took it back.
So, I am on my third Inspire and so far so good. No missed calls, dropped calls, texts, no reboots, no locks, no problems at all. Right now I am rooted running the stock rom. I have tried a few different roms - RCMiXHD_v5X, LeeDroid_HD v2.2.2, and Android Revolution 4G. I had GPS issues with LeeDroid and Revolution and data problems with RCMiXHD. The phone has performed pretty dang good with root+Stock so I will probably keep it that way. Hopefully a GB version will drop soon because I do like the extra features that brings.
Anyway, thats just my experience.
This thread is getting some good information placed in it, and a good OP as well.
My recommendation is that you follow the hack kit, but stick to ROMs based off of the Stock Inspire ROM for now. As much as I enjoy a UV/OC kernal, I can't say it's making a huge impact in my day-to-day use of this phone. I'm running AR 3.2, without any issues right now on the stock inspire radio, but my next flash will probably be a ROM like ClearDroid.
I also wish we had an easy stock backup procedure, but as far as i know we're stuck with the reflash + s-off combo.
As a side note: Where the heck did DG come from?! It's good to see you popping your head in here. I started with your Super-rooter and lived on Cognition and Perception for my Captivate.

Im not sure which rom was the culprit, I dont want to bad mouth anyones work as it could of just been my doing and I definitely appreciate the hard work and effort the devs put in. But I did experience a few issues trying the revolution rom, I tried different versions. But I also tried several other roms so I cant really pinpoint. I know I like the revolution but would have to leave it because of issues, I kept trying though.
I cant really recall as battery life hasnt been a huge issue for me on the inspire, but for everyone that has rooted their phone, would you say battery life improved or worsened? I'm probably going to root later on tonight.
Oh and why no 'one click' root/unroot scripts for the Inspire yet? Just wondering, because even the atrix had a one click root script.

Yeah I meant more of a legit release not a leaked version. I have tried RCMix and Adroid Revolution and had issues with both. Nothing major but enough for me to go back to stock.
I'm having an oposite dilemma.. I first bought the Atrix and then after i noticed a little lag when unlocking the device i bought the Inspire.. I had the Atrix for 2 weeks and i have had the Inspire for 1 week.
What i have noticed about the Inspire is that when I try to open a .doc file thats only 62kb large, its not nearly as smooth as the Atrix with the scrolling and double tapping to zoom in. I dont know why this is... 62kb is pretty small. When i had the Atrix, it opened the same file super fast and there was no lag at all..
Also, with websites like adultswim and phonedog which has a lot of flash, the Inspire lags quite a bit compared to the Atrix which has little to no lag.
Im very tempted to go back to the Atrix and just live with the little bit of lag when unlocking.. IDK what i should do..

Well good luck in your decision. I dont doubt the Atrix was a tad faster at some things left stock, but that wasnt a main concern for me as I know on the Inspire a rom here a kernel there can remedy that.
I've actually opened .doc and .xls files close to that size on a daily basis with no real lag issue. Then again I'm using Documents To Go, app I used from my Blackberry days. Works pretty smoothly.

Thats weird cause i used quickoffice to open the .doc and it was really laggy just now, being on the phone at the same time..
Though the Inspire is able the flash roms ....Atrix is by far a better phone. I've played with cousins Inspire, it doesn't compare to my Atrix

I m running the rooted stock rom self-cleaned from the ATT bloat with TiBU in chuck norris mode... No problem with my GPS, no problem with the reception... battery life around one day of pretty intensive use... I notice altough I m not having issues as i mentioned the signal's strength displayed is always pretty low (2/3 on 5)...
I tried ClearDroid but since it was pretty much the same as my 'self-purified' stock i just got back to it...
I don't think the reception's issue was related to the rooting itself... some device is just kinda defective from factory...
In the end it boils down to personal preferences.
I had both and got rid of the Atrix for the Inspire because of screen size and its speedy as is out the box. Don't really see the need for a Dual CoreS unless I'm gonna shell out more cash for the laptop Which I see is pointless since I might as well lug around my Vaio i7. In the end I'm happy with the Inspires build quality and performance.

It depends on your needs/preferences. Specs wise, yes the Atrix might be better but the Atrix does have its issues as well which irked me enough to come back to the Inspire which I liked so much I'm willing to give it a second try. One thing is for sure, I cant see myself getting another Motorola device anytime soon. Been there a few times, and had bad experiences with their locked devices. HTC has been the better experience for me so far and I'm enjoying the Inspire more than I did the Atrix.
Very true about preference...I like the Inspire's size wouldn't want to go bigger. Many hate motor for locking down the BL....but it seems like HTC will be doing the same on future devices

g2x experiences

Hey guys, i am currently interested in getting the g2x to dev on. I dev for the Moto defy since the day it came out and have plenty of roms. Now my question is how are you guys experience with this device? I've read some complaints of tons of reboot and back light leak, poor signal..etc.. Any comments would be much appreciated, looking forward to getting this phone
Very good device. Some have backlight bleed but only really noticeable in the dark and when looking at it on an angle.
I haven't had any reboots recently but once when i got a call and after hung up it just died and had to pull battery.
Main problem seems to be that Nvidia's lack of sources for A2DP functionality for stereo bluetooth and that 2.3.3 is on froyo kernel so further updates with custom roms would be difficult.
thanks for the reply, how are the roms? Any problems with current roms ?

In all honesty, CM7 works perfectly even with the lack of a2dp support. 2.3.3 OTA based roms (namely Weapon G2x) works just as well if you want that close to stock feel with more features. MIUI has all the same problems CM7 does since they run off the same kernel.
I've never had any issues with reboots, and if people do it's probably because of rogue apps running in the background. I never had a reboot because I like keeping my app drawer as minimal as possible At least, that is my theory
I love my g2x..just checked the sgs2 but not really into that much, my g2x on Cm7 was faster... The roms are good, I do agree with the lack of tegra support but Meh. Love it..please get one and welcome..
I love my phone.
Excellent performance, excellent display, and excellent battery life. I'm on my 3rd one, but that was because my first one kept locking up, and my 2nd replacement came damaged.
I love this phone, and I wouldn't want to replace it with anything else until the Nexus Prime. ^_^
Absolutely zero problems, love this phone so much. One of the best parts is the glass. It's curved, which makes unlocking it feel really good , and the glass feels really thick and solid. Also NO scratches, coming from an iphone all these things are huge. Loving it.
I feel like this phone can stay up to date with most of the devices coming out right now... On Android, you don't actually need 1GB of RAM... Heck, 512MB is more than enough! I'm gonna hold out until the quad core phones start coming in... If the Nexus Prime is still a dual core, I won't even bother.
I got 99 experiences but a reboot ain't one.
My 1st G2x is running good.
no reboots, no reception issues.
runs great and my app drawer always has at least 200 apps.
lol
I haven't started deving /theming on it yet.
Thanks everyone for you input! Just placed the order for it and cant wait to get. Never dev for any other devices besides moto , so im looking forward to this.
Awesome a new dev!!! Wanna thank you in advance. Good luck

Reboots
My wife and I both have our 3rd G2x (due to replacements of bad phones). The phones we have now are doing well, however we both did experience a random SHUTOFF not reboot. It only happened twice, so I'm just waiting to see if that happens again, really weird.
My G2x is is running great. On my second one due to random shut downs on my first. I only experienced a couple reboots until I got a brand new battery and rooted the phone. Currently running Eagles Blood 2.3.5 others no misshaps. Love it.

This is a great phone. For those of us that have had no problems, the intended impact of the device is evident.
However, you cannot ignore what a lot of people went through. for many, the g2x experience was the worst possible.
LG and T-Mobile appear to have let the phone fade away. Even though its for sale, and can be had for cheap, it no longer appears in comparison with other good phones on the market today. Check the reviews out their today...cnet, etc....The powers that be have let it fade away.
Even DEVs appear to have moved on. Many of the people here a few months ago have moved to other devices. Even saying that, there are some real good ROMs out there...just less people deving them.
In all honesty I have to say, this phone is the best phone I've owned. But in that same honesty, I'd have to say, you may want to consider something else. Even the Sensation is now getting far more press and exposure from T-Mobile than this beauty. There are TONs of ROMs available for the Sensation and some of the best DEVs from the android world are there.
I've recently considered the Bionic....but the VzW pricing plan is just too much. Minimum $100 a month to walk out with a Bionic.
I love the G2x. But if you want long term upgradabiity...you may wish to look elsewhere.
Just my opinion....

No. It just finds it. Maybe not on second one, but 10-20.
Also, I came to G2x from the Bold, which would die in a day with no usage under dead zones. That was a huge problem - I was forced to enable and disable airplane mode all around. The G2x is great in that matter.

I have noticed that a lot of problems happen under the stock ROM or roms based on the stock one.
Flashing something like CM7 or MIUI fixes a lot of problems.

Infuse owners, share your opinions

I searched and found a few older threads related to this, but i figured i would get a fresh crowd.
Chances are tomorrow Ill pick up an infuse, I currently have a captivate and will definately keep it (ICS is running great and i must say i love it)
I need opinions from people running the infuse now, hows the speed? anyone using the cm7 ports that can comment on the usability of it? From what i read the bluetooth is semi working in cm7 but the only thing i need it for is sixaxis controller for my snes emulation
also it seems that i see people overclocking this upwards of 1.6+, any feedback on battery when going that crazy?
in all honesty im too cheap to pay for a gsII or a skyrocket, the only reason im getting a new phone is that with my family plan i get a lot of upgrades and i feel that if i dont use them up im just wasting time
CM7 is always my choice of ROM to use for the infuse, battery life is great, everything works, besides the semi working bluetooth
IMHO If you need GPS routinely I'd pass on the Infuse. It works better on some ROMs but the GPS will more than likely be a diasappointment.
Other than that the Infuse is great...awesome form factor, and has some very nice ROMs that are updated regularly and looks like the DEV support will continue way into 2012.

i come from the captivate, the definition of gps issues. i felt like i needed a gps when i got my phone, now ive learned to live without it. Also i heard the infuse locks a bit better than the captivate, which would be an improvement for me,
I was debating between this and a nexus s. specs wise alone the infuse wins. The nexus is better in the fact that its pure google, but ill quickly flash the cm port and then who cares who "officially" supports my os
I came from a captivate. For me i have a lot of modem issues with the infuse. A lot more than i did with my captivate. I've tried cm7 and miui for the infuse and didn't like either one. My signal was in and out non stop. I tried resetting apn settings, flashing different modems and nothing worked. I just stay with the deodexed stock roms. KL2 is the best so far, for me at least.

Am I misinformed? Or isnt the HDMI only working with Froyo based roms? If your looking at CM7 or any Gingerbread roms out there for the infuse trust it wont have working HDMI, and bluetooth issues. At least that is the general impression I get. Please someone tell me if Im wrong. This is the very reason I get sad when flashing anything new on this phone. Always go back to Froyo in the end. Which really isnt all that bad. When rooted, this phone will do everything any other phone can and more. Its a great device, and you just cant beat the price---free on contract!
AND THE SCREEN IS DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!! UNBEATABLE SCREEN--BESIDES MAYBE NEXUS PRIME AND GALAXY NOTE!!!

I also came from the cappy, and from my experience, you won't be disappointed. The screen is f*cking beautiful. Just like I'm sure you love your cappy's screen, the infuse is bigger and doesn't have the annoying pentile sh*t. The camera is also an upgrade, not to mention having a flash. Pictures are beautiful with this phone. People are surprised that some of my pictures are taken with my phone because they're damn good.
Also, I've seen a huge improvement in GPS compared to the cappy. Some roms still have problems, but I get locks under 10 seconds on cm7. Another plus is you get slightly faster data if you're in an hspa+ area. As to people saying data drops in and out, I've only experienced this on a couple of roms, however, can usually be fixed with altered apn's; the cm7 thread has the settings in the first post.
Yeah, we don't have as much dev work as the cappy, but there are more than enough great roms to play with. Not to mention the CM7 build which I am currently using, as well as miui. We don't have ICS, yet. People are working on it, so I'm sure it will come eventually. Linuxbozo worked magic for porting gb roms over to our phone with hellraiser, so I'm sure something similar will eventually be worked out with ics.
As to the usability of cm7, I think only the audio side of Bluetooth is wonky, so your controller should be good, don't know for sure though.
Battery life is decent, I'm a pretty heavy user, lots of screen on time with texting and reading xda, fb, twitter, email, etc. and I still get a whole day usually. On my cappy with the same usage I was always recharging part way through the day.
Other than that, there's not much else. You don't need to overclock from my experience, the 1.2 GHz processor makes cm7 fly, I haven't seen any lag whatsoever; other roms are equally as snappy as well.
Hope I helped!

I'm running zeus rom at 1.6Ghz and got more than 4.5 hours display time yesterday, which is amazing. yeah the gtalk seems to need a hacked version. If you figure out how to run video chat over data I would very much appreciate to know which version you used, as I have yet to get that working.

Hey everybody I'm thinking about buying a Samsung Infuse. I have an HD2 that I've had since June 2010 and this phone is starting to die on me. A faulty hardware on this phone is causing me to think about buying an Infuse. Have you guys experienced any freezing or overheating issues while using the Infuse? How is the camera and video quality? Can you take widescreen pictures like the HD2?
see, i dont see a need for HDMI so i dont even think about it.
as for the auto brightness, i didnt know that it didnt work. lol.
still CM7 is really good rom.
There's really no reason to upgrade from the Captivate to the Infuse.

I hated my infuse until I put the Zeus rom on it. It locked up, turned off, and rebooted itself all the time. The battery drained quickly when it was idle while I was sleeping it would be dead within a few hours from a full charge.
However now that I put a rom on it I don't have any of those issues and actually like the phone now.
If you go with the Infuse, I highly recommend Zeus as the best custom ROM for the phone.

+1.
I bought my infuse for the display and the size.
How this has played out scenario:
I walk up to the girls.
I whip it out. I say "Check this out, baby!"
They're like, "Oh WOW. It's so big!"
I'm like, "Yeah. I know. Thank you."
They're like, "Can I touch it?"
I'm like, "Sure, Baby."
Another guy comes up and say, "Check out my smaller cappy with ICS."
They're like, "Yeah, yeah, whatever. We wanna play with Mr. Big"

I am very disappointed in my GS4

I'm sorry I've been a galaxy user for a long time and have never been let down until now. I have had the gs2 gs3 note and note 2. I have loved them all and didn't expect anything less out of the new gs4. Well I guess there is a first time for everything. This phone sucks plain and simple! It suffers from terrible lag when scrolling through the web. The pinch to zoom is terrible and slow. Yea the features are cool but who's ever really going to use them? You would think that maybe with all the new software samsung has introduced they would have taken a little time to give us a better keyboard with an auto correct feature. Even while typing the thread my phone is suffering from terrible lag and just can't keep up with me.
Htc one. I have that as well and I'm trying to decide which to keep. Its smooth as silk and works as it should. I'm trying to persuade myself to keep the galaxy s4 hoping that a patch will be issued and alot of these issues will be fixed. I'm having a hard time doing it though because the htc is really perfect aside from button placement and size.
If you really have been using those devices you mention then you should know that all the issues you say you are experiencing can be easily solved by update or by rooting the device and getting rid of bloat. S4 is a beast hardware wise.

I'm thinking that when a stable root method is available a custom rom will definitely improve things. The sheer amount of bloatware is ridiculous and is bogging down the performance of the phone. A debloated rom might be the fix.

Root is already available and especially since there now appears to be a safe way to return to stock (kies or odin) you should now feel safer when manually debloating because fixing a softbrick is just a few clicks away
And to the op...I couldnt agree more about the keyboard...but as far as lag goes...I have yet to see any lag that so many are claiming to have and I havent even disabled or begun to remove any stock apps...so I guess I got lucky with my device

I want to love the S4. Nice big 5" screen, I don't really mind TW, decent camera, size and weight are perfect for me but man the lag is horrendous!
I have rooted and froze 73 apps in titanium yet it still has some lag. It's quite sad actually..
I realize part of the lag is 4.2.2 but good grief!
I am actually thinking about returning it for a Nexus 4 or maybe wait a little and see what the Nexus 5 has to offer..

I know that an update can fix things. My problem is patience and waiting for that update to be released. Its a real shame that a phone with such amazing specs just can't do what its supposed to do without lag and issues. As far as rooting goes in sure that many people on this forum are familiar with it but I'm not. Why can't the device come out of the box working like it should?!?!!! The htc does work and works well. If not for the. 3" and button layout the gs4 would already be back in the box of the way to att return dept.
The same goes for me being very disappointed. I had the Captivate, S2, dad has S3, wife has a Note 2 and all have been good phones. I love my wife's Note 2 but can't deal with a phone that big. My biggest problem with the S4 is the battery life mine is getting. I can barely get more than an hour screen time. Right now my phone is at 15% with 1:20 screen time that accounts for 40% of the battery after 10 hrs unplugged. I'm tired of constantly tweaking roms, I just want a phone that works all day without me having to install a custom rom.

Sad to say it requires any tampering (root, app disabling, or cfw) to get it running smooth. Hopefully a Very soon update will smooth it out without killing battery life. Another thing that's crazy is this phone is clocked .2 higher than the htc one and optimus g pro but still lags like crazy

Agreed. There should be no need for disabling apps/removing bloat or installing custom roms to get this phone working smoothly. Its got the hardware no doubt but something is definitely wrong when a flagship phone with these specs doesn't work smoothly out of the box. HTC seem to have got it right software wise. Its clocked lower with the same processor and is buttery smooth and almost benches as high running at 1.5

It's going to be so funny when AT&T & Samsung release a update and this phone (S4) becomes the most smooth Android phone ever... Or better yet when we finally get that bootloader unlock tool released and starting getting clean & optimized versions of the stock ROM.
@damon20r 1 hour screen time?!? I can easily get 6+ hours on full brightness... It's either your battery (faulty) or a rogue app.
Thats why i sold my s4. I immediatly noticed the lag. My htc one is smooth as silk.
wow I haven't noticed any lag - it is super fast compared to my epic 4g (galaxy s I). Maybe some ppl have a defective phone? As for battery life, 1) google talk, make sure you're signed out (big battery killer) and in the pull down menu, choose top right for more choices of what's on/off. I turned off air view/gesture, nfc, smart screen/view etc, etc. all the bloat. Now great life. Still at 29% despite heavy use all day. 11 hrs on battery 63% screen time. Maybe use autoscreeen brightness. Also I turned off facebook notifications too (that helped). The "power saving"option also helps save battery life.

Is it only the AT&T s3s with lag? or is TMob also experiencing lag?

Why dont you ask in the at&t s3 forum.
Now how are you guys experiencing this bad lag you keep mentioning. Wish someone would post a video to see the lag. Even with my bloat and touchwiz I didnt notice this lag.
No lag worth mentioning for me neither? I'm happy with it...

All fanboy crap aside... The HTC One is MUCH and I mean MUCH smoother than the S4.. It's night and day different!

Come to think of it I can't remember restarting my phone since I got it. SMH. I'll try that and see what happens, LOL.
1 hr screen is something wrong def. Im easily getting 5 hours on this biotch. Im at 15 hours unplugged 2 hours 41 mins screen with 69% battery left.
