[Q] Incoming calls go straight to voicemail - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I have a Nexus 5 for about 7 months bought in the UK, width stock ROM and NO ROOT. The problem is that sometimes incoming calls go straight to voicemail (but with the phone On and with service showing on the status bar). I doubth that tis problem is from the network (it doesnt seem to happen in my wife's motorola moto G with the same network (giffgaff)). :crying:
Anybody with the same problem?

Can you please open the people app and select a contact using the colorful card on the left side of the screen, and from the popup, press the person icon on the far right. Then, press the menu button on the top right and see if "All calls to voicemail" is checked for the callers whose calls are going straight to voicemail.

My wife's Nexus 5 had all calls going directly to Voicemail. After trying the usual "fluff" I fixed it by switching preference from LTE to 3G. Weak LTE signals evidently made the network think she was unreachable. YMMMV

Cell Phone Service Issues

Hey guys. I have the new XDAndroid 11/8 update and it seems to working great. I have had an issue that started before that update and it is pretty bad. Every time I make a call, it says dialing, the 3G logo disappears and then it says call ended and the 3G icon comes back. The whole time, the bars for my service are bouncing between none and full. It has the same problem with text messaging. Data seems to be working fine. I can get on the marketplace and get emails and such. It just started randomly and I don't know what may have caused it. Thanks for any help you can give.
I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 activated on Boost Mobile.
It does the same thing in Windows Mobile so maybe it's an issue with Boost Mobile or a hardware issue? I go to text or call and the service will bounce between full bars and none and sometimes it will switch to roaming mode.

UK Nexus 5 Owner, problem with dialler when calling an engaged landline

Hi,, UK N5 owner here.
Anyone having problems with their N5 when dialling a engaged landline?
I called a landline yesterday and it was engaged. Pressed the red hangup button, it went grey but i could still hear the engaged tones.
Only way out of it was to force close the app.
Tried to dial the number again, and same thing happened... so thought it could of been where i force closed the app previously causing an issue. So restarted phone and tried same number again, it was engaged and i had the same issue trying to cancel the call.
Anyone else had this issue or could test it out for me?
Cheers
Same problem exists in Germany, but only with the carrier "Eplus".

Calling an engaged landline in the uk for me just plays the busy signal, shows busy on the screen. Automatically greys out the hangup button, and after a couple of seconds, ends the call. Dont even have the option to press the hangup button as its automatically greyed out
Im on Three network in the UK
Had another UK Nexus 5 owner on UK's Three network try it out too.... same issue.
Anyone else?
Yeah, same problem here on Three UK.

Verizon note edge on MetroPCS voicemail isue

I have a note edge from Verizon running on metro pcs, full mms, 4g lte and everything working (other than hotspot). When I press and hold 1, or dial *86 it says "call cannot be completed as dialed". But when I call my actual phone number it goes right to my new voicemail. But my password isn't being accepted. Metro has been helping me through it and they cannot figure out what the deal is. Anyways, is there a way to fix so I can dial 1 or *86??
Also unrelated, if you know anything about the hotspot i'd like to fix that as well.
Ok I resolved half the problem, for future reference I'll explain what to do
It turned out my dialer was not registering when I pressed the numbers during calls.
To fix just go to your dialer > settings > call > dtmf tones > and click long tones.
I still have an issue where pressing and holding 1 or dialing *86 still can't complete the call.

Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network

Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network
recently bought a used Verizon Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V). It came with the lollipop OS. My service provider is H2O wireless (on the AT&T Network. From the outset, I had problems with phone calls, text messaging.
1. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to dial (Like to enter numbers for automated systems).
*I solved this one by going to:
settings>applications>call>
Scroll down to DTMF tones and change setting to long.
2. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to click over to calls on call waiting. When I do try to click over, I still hear the original call for a few seconds and then both calls drop and I get an error message that says "no sim or invalid sim". If I don't answer the call, both calls drop and I get the same message. The same thing happens if a try to make a 3 way call.
3. If someone calls me and I try to call them back, the call redirects to turn it into an international call and the call doesn't go through.
*I solved this using an app called prefixer
4. If I try to text message someone who called me, I get an error message back saying the phone number is invalid.
I figured I would have to root my phone to be able to make some custom changes. I first had to downgrade to kitkat (android 4.4.2) and root it and then upgrade with root using some very helpful posts and resources found on this site (thanks). When I downgraded, problems 1 and 2 went away (for number 1, I had to change my network mode, but that solution didn't work when I went back to lollipop). After upgrading beack to lollipop, all of these problems were there, though I was able to resolve 2 of them, the other 2 are problematic.
I think theres a problem with the way the phone is handling the AT&T network signal since they have a different type of network from verizon but i don't know.
I'm will in try to install a custom ROM, change settings in service mode, etc. I just haven't come accross any info to point me towards the right instructions. Alternatively, I may trade or sell this phone ant get an AT&T based phone. What do you suggest?

Works Almost Perfect But Anyone Have This Goofy Issue?

Ok, I have a couple of these Pro 2's (F350L-Android 5.01 vF350L20f) on the Cricket (ATT) network and they work perfectly. Data, 4G, Calls, Internet, everything works fine. Except 2 things: 1) For some reason when someone leaves me a voicemail I will not receive a notification from the network. No icon shows up telling me I got a voicemail. The voicemail is there if I call and check. But I never get a notification. The other thing: 2) If I reject a call the caller will not be redirected to leave a voicemail. They will get an error message recording from the network that says "The call you are trying to make cannot be made from this line." They have no way to leave me a voicemail. They WILL be redirected to leave a voicemail if I don't reject the call but I let it ring and just don't answer. It's GOOFY! Other than those 2 things the phone works perfectly on the Cricket (ATT) network. If I take the Sim card and put it back in any of my other LG phones (LG2, Optimus Pro, etc.) those 2 issues don't happen. I can live without using the "Reject Call" feature but not getting a notification when someone leaves a voicemail is a bit of a drag. I have to check voicemail every time I don't answer or I'm away from my phone. Anyone ever heard of this and know how to correct it?
