Dear Devs,
I have a MKV file with AAC audio, it played smoothly in PC.
But audio has shutters with MX Player ( HW / HW+ / SW are all tested )
Also tested by 3 different android devices, same results.
Could you help to solve this problem?
Here is the AAC file (85MB) which extracted from MKV.
Thanks!!
What are the 4 devices you tested it on?

I've checked your .aac file but audio itself played with no lag.
I think this is not audio issue but video issue. Would you send full or part of .mkv file?
Thanks

It is the problem of .mkv file itself. Audio track contains less frames than video track.
So MX Player is stuttering to keep a/v sync.

Because my audio track is from another source.
So the root cause is different frame rate of A/V source?
Does any method/tool to fix this issue?
RE-encode whole MKV file?

So the root cause is different frame rate of A/V source? -> Yes
Does any method/tool to fix this issue? -> I have no idea. May someone else answer it.
RE-encode whole MKV file? -> Yes. there is no such feature in MX Player to stretch audio frames in realtime.

Does any method/tool to fix this issue? <-- not any simple ways. You could force re-time/timeshift of the audio stream on mux. You could reencode the audio and slow playback speed.

You should really be asking on a video encoding forum instead. Combining video/audio tracks from different sources is always not a simple task if they differ in any major area, such as length.

You are almost certainly missing the correct CODEC for your pirated movies to play back right.
Try using Google.

If you are trying to say that even playing these movies locally on a PC gives you video and no sound then you've got two options;-
1) There is no sound in the video
2) You're missing the CODEC you need to hear the audio
When you run diagnostics from DivX (I assume that you are actually using a decent player and not just Windows Media Player) what CODEC does it say was used to create the audio stream?
And this really isn't the right place for this thread either. XDA is a MOBILE PHONE DEVELOPMENT SITE - that's the third time I've told someone that today. If you can't fix it then post in the Off-Topic forum where it should be, in the **Desktops and Laptops Thread**

It doesn't matter what player you use. If the CODECs aren't on your system then the apps can't decode the audio stream. Why is that so hard to understand?
Can you get any of those files to play properly on any other device?

VLC has all the possible codecs you could ever need to play .mkv files, in other words, it's not a codec issue. Why is that so hard to understand?
OP, does this problem apply to any and all mkv files? Have you checked all the sound related settings, drivers etc. on the pc? Is it definitely just mkv files that are the problem?

I don't make it a habit to state things as a fact if I'm not certain about them.
VLC does NOT come with all the CODECs as it is not allowed to install any proprietary (read copyrighted) CODECs. If you don't believe me then the OP at least might find this page on AfterDawn useful as it also contains links to some of the more common CODEC packs.
Important Note: While VLC will work for most MKV files you will find, the package does not include any proprietary codecs. RealVideo and ON2 VP6 are examples of codecs not packed with VLC for this reason. Therefore with VLC, if you get a Matroska file that contains RealVideo, you are pretty much in the dark and will have to look for another playback option.

This is the exact reason why I asked the OP to run diagnostics from his software and post what CODEC the software says was used to create the audio stream.
But, as usual on this forum at the moment, people don't read the rules, post in the wrong place, don't actually bother to do what the people who are trying to help them ask them to do etc etc etc

I never said VLC comes with all the codecs, but since it has open source alternative for just about any audio/video stream you can pack in an mkv and throw at it, VLC practically has "all the possible codecs you could ever need to play an mkv file", which on the other hand means OP most likely does not have a codec problem. I suggest you look into codecs more closely and hone that reading comprehension of yours.

There is zero ambiguity there - you are stating, explicitly, that any .mkv file will play on VLC because VLC has "all the possible codecs". That is simply not true.
Without the OP replying and telling us what CODEC the audio stream was encoded with it is impossible to state whether VLC should work with that stream - heck, the OP may even be using an old version of VLC with less CODECs than the current version.
And none of this matters one iota anyway - this thread shouldn't even be here, as I pointed out quite clearly yesterday.

You just so happened to leave out the rest of the sentence, the italicized part was the relevant bit. But in any case OP seems to have lost interest.

hi,
Use Klite Codec or KMplayer for your Computer
For Android Phones Use MxPlayer or Mobo Video Player Pro(It will play mostly all formats )
Hit Thanks if i help You
I watch alot movies on my phone and when a movie is .avi format no matter how big (1,2gb) is playing with no problem, BUT when its .mp4 on the stock and some other players says, sorry this video can not be played, and on some players like mobo or mx (the ones with codecs) plays but with lag (the picture is like a slow motion)?
Its funny cos the videos that are recorded with the phone are .mp4 and are played very well...

Most likely your mp4 file has H264 video with a profile above what this device supports in hardware... For that reason i would like a dump of the technical details of the file. On windows if you use MPC-HC there is a properties windows with a mediainfo tab.
AVI or MP4 are only the container format that encompasses varius audio, video, subtitles tracks. The video codec inside the track is what matters. Most AVI files contain one track of video and one track of audio, but the codecs usually are XVID and MP3. In the case of MP4 files the codecs are H264 and AAC. But H264 has a enormous range of profiles and levels that increase the CPU power needed for a given bitrate.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC#Profiles
IIRC, this device only supports H264 baseline profile in its hardware decoder, so if your file has a higher profile using MXplayer it will decode in software.
I was just curious if anyone was running into this issue. For some reason, seeking any VC-1 .mkv files will crash MX Player.
My device is a Tab S. It seems to happen regardless of what decoder or codec I'm using.

It looks like a ffmpeg audio codec bug. We are currently working on internal structure renewal for MX Player 1.8.
I will send you a new test build with updated ffmpeg codecs after finishing current task. It would be possible on next week.
Thanks.

Great, thanks for taking a look at that. I look forward to the new build.
I downloaded VLC and it's able to seek without crashing, but I much prefer the minimal UI of MX Player.
Cant change audio track in HW mode
When playing an mkv file with two audio tracks when using HW mode
the player does not actually change audio track even though the new audio track is selected
why is this?
when using HW+ mode changing audio tracks works fine
though HW+ does have its own problems
Playback can suddenly stop at certain points of a video
(I have a mkv video that stops in the exact same place when using HW+)
Seeking does not work( ie cant jump to half way though the video)
when you enable SW for audio there are jumps in the video and the audio drops in and out
after a short while the audio stops dropping in and out and the video stops droping frames but then the video and audio are
out of sync
Hopefully these problems will be fixed soon, as aside from these issues MX Player is awesome!
happy with MX Player Pro purchase
I would like to help improve MX Player,
can we send in logs to help improve MX Player?

Same issue on Xiaomi Mi5: SW and HW+ options don't work, in HW mode changing audio track does nothing.
Hi,
I am facing one problem with the subject.
I set the following settings in MX Player Pro
1. Remove (or do not install external codecs (modified ffmpeg library)
2. Turn off HW+
3. Select all Hardware accelerated codecs in HW+ video and HW+ audio codecs.
Then pass-through DTS works but basically not watchable too much distorted audio, video pauses, freezing etc..
4. Turn off HW audio track selectable
Then pass-through DTS works. video sort of watchable but video seeking is not working anymore + it pauses every few seconds
Is it possible somehow to fix video seeking on nvida shield with Turned off HW audio track selectable or to fix DTS audio distortion with HW audio track selectable on?
Thank you in advance.
I cannot believe that passthorugh is working for everyone but me or nobody uses it at all with MX Player?

HW accell AC3 + DTS passthrough. DTS doesn't work!
plus broken time seek (fast forward, rewind) on all streams.
