Time keeps changing! - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I get to work and connect to the wireless there (I work at a government facility in Utah and our wifi network connects to D.C.) my clock changes to D.C. time. If I uncheck "Automatic date and time" and set it manually it still changes to D.C. time after an hour or two. I don't know how to keep my clock on Utah time. Help!

WM 6.5 Home Screen Weather Location is Wrong.

I've recently upgraded to WM 6.5 on my Sprint TP2 and I really liked the home screen with the weather. The fact that it automagically updated the weather city as I drove to work is very cool.
Did you notice the past tense in the above paragraph? Now it tells me the weather Beverly Hills and I can't get it to report on my home location.
From the weather application I've deleted all but my home location and turned off location services. Although I've deleted all locations except my home location, it still shows 2 weather locations from the forecast screen, one of them being Beverly Hills.
Do you have sense 2.1? I had the same problem, didn't know what town I was it kept telling me that I was in Espoo Finland lol. When I upgraded to 2.5 it solved my problem.
Hope it helps
How do I check what 'sense' I have?
I'll search the site for an update.
I'm sure this is my problem, I have a Sprint Airave at my house. This is from another forum.
I can answer this one! I'm a Sprint employee and am extremely familiar with the Airave.
The Airave broadcasts signal allowing your phone to have signal in an area where Sprint signal is not normally available. It does this by receiving a request from your phone, connecting to the Airave, and then then sending the request via your broadband internet connection rather than through a Sprint tower.
The problem you are experiencing is because of settings with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Your location, often refered to geolocation, is set by your IP address (provided to you automatically by your ISP). ISPs often base IP addresses in a city where the company is basing operations. For example, I live in Indianapolis, Indiana, and use Comcast as my ISP. My IP address however is based out of Rockford, Illinois.
If you go to http://whatismyipaddress.com, you will see the city to which your IP address is set. The city listed at this site, I would assume, is the city you see on your phone as your current location.
As far as a fix, I don't have much in the way of an answer. If the weather application is the issue, you could always set a city, rather than using the automatic location setting.
I hope this gives you some insight as to why the problem exists.
For someone that works for Sprint, you are giving out a lot of bad information on their products. The Airave Geolocation is obviously NOT ISP based! The geolocation on my computers are all correct, well the location on my phone is not correct. That shows that it is not an ISP issue.
FYI, that Airave descriptions wasn't mine it was from an entry "Sense 2.5 My Location and Airave Issue" by jhworley under another topic.
In running some tests on my phone I'm getting more confused.
First of all WhatIsMYIPAddress shows my home computer being in Lansing, Michigan. Im on DLS and live in Okemos, a suburb of Lansing.
I went through all the combinations of Airave on and off, and the TP2 WiFi on and off, and WhatIsMYIPAddress on the phone always showed Wichita, KS. I did reload the page every time but maybe I should have done a hard reset to make sure it cleared everything.
Also, now the weather location the home screen of the phone is showing Okemos, not the previous display of Beverly Hills. I think what's going on here is that my phone is actually connecting through the local cell tower (which is usually marginal, hence the Airave) and Geolocating "Okemos".
It would be interesting to know when the phone (Sprint TP2) connects through the cell tower, Airave, or home WiFi. Can anyone tell me if the phone only does data connections thru the home WiFi, or will it do VoIP over the WiFi if available?
Thnx

I knew that, but only because I was familiar with that (incorrect) post from another forum. They way you post it, without quoting or attribution, makes it look as if you're saying you wrote it. It's best to avoid that, because either other people's blunders are going to make you look dumb, or you'll be stealing other people's work.

VOIP uses a data connection. It doesn't care whether that's cellular data or WiFi. The phone does not come set up with VOIP, though. You have to install a VOIP application such as Skype.
Airave & Wrong Weather Time/Location
Maybe just coincedental, but when I started using my Airave this morning, my Homescreen on my TP2 now has the wrong city, about 10 miles away, and is frozen at US 8:07CST.
Maybe a coincedence.
mine does it randomly too, i just havce to input the location manually
Yeah, I called Airave and they said that in some cases it is a known bug and they are going to do an update at some point to correct it.
The moment I unplug my Airave I instantly get my updated local weather. Oddly, all the other major cities I keep on my Airave, such as Chicago, IL, don't have any update issues.
But, since I've got more bars on my phone than the Hershey Chocolate factory cranks out, I'll gladly put up with it. Sure beats 1 bar and dropped calls.

[REQ] BT/WiFi interval service - Will Pay

I would be willing to pay for the following app/service.
It would allow for an interval to be set from 10 minutes to 30 minutes (or whatever). During that time it does the following...
Let me explain this by just focusing on WiFi, as Bluetooth functionality would be the same functionality-wise.
At the ste interval time, the service will check the status of WiFi.
- If Off, it turns it on long enough to see if any networks autoconnect
- If network connects, then WiFi stays on as long as netowrk connection exists
- If On, it checks to see if network is connected
- If network not connected, it turns WiFi off
This way a user can save battery life by not having these services on all the time, nor shutting them on/off manually and having to remember to do it when getting in their car or office, etc..
NOTE: When the interval is hit and WiFi or BT needs to be turned on, it needs to wait a minute (or whatever time is necessary - this might be user configurable to account for differences between phones) to see if connects.
Can anyone work on such a project? I am sure you could put this in the market and have many people pay for it. It would allow for incredible battery saving and allowing for automated WiFi/BT switching.

[Q] National roaming and slow switching back to home network

I am with a carrier (U) that supports 3g in limited areas, outside the coverage, I will be switched to another carrier (C), but only with EDGE connectivity.
I am living in the 3g coverage area, but somehow the car park is not covered, so everytime I go to my office car park, it switches to C, and when I am back in the ground floor and up, I noticed that sometimes its very slow in switching back to the carrier U.
I have called U up and they asked me to use the "Select Network Automatically" settings, but that doesn't seems to help much as sometimes even after 30 minutes it didn't switch back, until I go into the network settings.
I have noticed this too.
I an on Sprint. If my phone switches to 1x cdma (slow), it may not switch back to 3G if I am actively using data. I have to uncheck and recheck "data enabled" to bump it back. It seems to switch back ok if data is idle.
hmm, wonder if I could do something with tasker about this.

Google Fi time diff between Sprint and T-Mobile

On Google Fi my phone auto connects to Sprint when I'm home. Using auto sync the time is off by around 18 seconds from atomic time, consistently. If I force connect to T-Mobile the time is always synced to within 1 second. If I force it back to Sprint after a while it reverts to the 18 second offset again and stays that way. See the same thing if I boot in safe mode, so unlikely it's an app issue. Tried Google support but no solutions. Not rooted so can't use ClockSync to auto set the time. Anyone else seeing a large variance from NIST time, and is it different between Sprint and T-Mobile?
I have had fi for a long while. It's slow to transfer between networks. I drive on a highway where tmobile gets almost no service and but do get some coverage with sprint. There are some times it stays on T-Mobile with no network. Thankfully you can manually switch between networks with the help of apps.

Question Frequently lost mobile internet connection

Bought in Belarus country (the timezone is UTC+3) - for a few months everything was OK.
Moved to Georgia county (the timezone is UTC+4), bought a local sim and started to have problem with mobile internet. I live in a city with good connection, at the top right I see 4G, but I often need to disable data traffic and enable again - to continue to use internet.
I was in the office of the operator, they tried to create an APN, and gave me another sim.
Also tried network preferences reset, multiple times.
Also disabled "Check time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically".
All updates, stock ROM, Android 12.
Official LineageOS rom will fix this problem?
Please help.

The service will do nothing to you. Changing the software won't help either. I tried, there was a problem with this on the site twice and they did nothing but update the software. But I found a "way" to select a mobile operator, I bought a second sim card, but it is important that it was from a different provider. I put it in and it's on my phone, I don't call from it, I don't use data from it. It's just plugged in and turned on in the settings. Previously, the problem was so strong that I had to turn on the airplane mode for about a minute, or turn off data transmission, as you write, or have forced 3G not LTE (4G) all the time. And now, literally for a moment, the Internet will disappear and reappear after a while, and it is no longer bothersome. It's such a partial solution to the problem. After the holidays, he will send it to be repaired again. They will probably send back that everything is OK. And if that does not help, he will write to the representative office in Poland, Xiaomi, maybe they will help. You can always make black piar on the web.
