Hardware or Software issue in my OPO screen? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my OnePlus One today. What a happy day until this problem showed up.
My screen works just fine, but this happens every once a while. The screen looks like this for some seconds and goes back to normal then.
Any tips?

Its probably software. But wow that hurts my eyes looking at that picture.

Tell me about it. I almost went to an eye doctor. Lol

Are you able to reproduce the problem repeatedly? Does it happen only on the home screen or does it happen in other apps as well?

It appears when ever, where ever. If i take a screenshot of it, it won't appear in there. That's why i took a photo of it.

So, is this screen broken?

It could possibly be hardware then. The only way to really know is to flash a custom ROM or reflash the stock ROM, if it happens on another ROM then its for sure hardware.

Ok. Thanks! I think i'm the only one with this issue. Haven't found anything similar from the web, when searching.

The problem appeared once again and i rebooted the device. The screen had this ghosting in the bootup aswell.

I've done factory reset aswell and the problem continues.

If it occurs outside the OS then its for sure hardware

Galaxy SL i9003 touchscreen issue

Hi all
two days ago my i9003 touchscreen stopped working. But the side keys and volume keys were still working.
So I had nothing to do except removing the battery and check it again. And i could reset the phone and clear cache with volume up+home+power method. Still phone touch screen was not responding. But as i was playing like this (removing the battery resetting phone, removing memory card etc) touchscreen suddenly stared to work and everything was fine.
Next day morning phone got the same issue touch screen was not responding. at night I removed the back cover and kept playing like previous day for a while and it again started to work. I flashed my rom to 2.3.6 coz I thought this was a firmware issue. everything was fine then I even played fruitninja and i slept.
Today morning unfortunately touchscreen was not responding again. Then I just removed back cover(didnt remove the battery thaugh) and jiggling with side keys and home key for a while.. after sometime touchscreen started working.
I noticed these...
If do not use the phone for a long time, it freezes.
And when unfreezing of course after jiggling for sometime it unfreezes with making a screenshot.
Any suggestions?
anyone??
I have also started having same issue a week ago. I cannot give it to Samsung care as my warranty is void (yet to check what service they can provide in absence of warranty). I went to a local shop, the idiot straightaway said its screen need to be replaced. INR 6K in damages!
I obviously said no. Please let me know if you found something.

BTW I have already tried re-installing different versions (Russian/Indian) of GB. Tried couple of custom ROMs too but no avail.
Exactly same issue
& as I can see, no one has replied yet. I have flashed it so many times, the problem stays with all roms, it works sometimes & sometimes it doesnt.
So, not an hardware issue for sure or it would not have been working at all. But whatever the bug is, its deep rooted & quite frustrating
i have the same problem i also flashed all kind of Rom's stock/custom upgrade downgrade no luck
tomorrow i will replace the Screen and Report back am replaying/reopening this thread just for the record hope it's not H/w problem and could find the solution because back and menu button are completely separated from the touchscreen and yet not working as well
Forgot
sorry i forgot to post my feedback the problem is with our Screen Touch i've changed it and i worked

[Q] Phone accident, questions about touch input

Greeting my fellow phonenerds, today I accidently my nexus 5, in the water after having it and loved it with all my heart for more than half a year. My heart stopped and my breath was on strike, but i was quick in turning it off and leaving it for drying in the sun for a few hours (it was pretty hot this day), with the back case opened. I started the phone and saw some quite depressing and scary phenomena, like, flickering screen, lines switching rapidly, but also no touch input, nothing registered, it sometimes "touched itself on random locations" but without my control. So i shut it off, leaving it for more drying, i've also cleansed the electronic connections with acetone very carefully to remove any oxidation or dirt from the water, left it for drying again. The screen is ok now, some little flickering from whiter to darker, but mostly fine, no buggy ****. Altough it cannot still sense my touch input, but i've only tried booting to the main os so i thught, wel lets try booting it in recovery mode, and voila! the touch works fine, but not when booted into the home screen. What is the problem?
The problem is it got wet..... Lol
Sorry, but kinda a silly question.
Water usually fries something.
Send it for repair. ?

To be clear....water will not ever, in anyway, affect software.....so I'm sure you have hardware damage, as is usually the case with water damage.
Hey, flash stock to it and see. If it works, awesome!!! If its the same....game over.

I will try to flash stock. I think it's just weird that the touch works in twrp recovery and not in the OS, dont you think?

Yes, its strange....but could just be how it is. Getting it wet won't alter files... Just fry hardware.
If its the same after a wipe and stock flash....you're probably pooched. That rules out software anyway.
Good luck!

It is strange, doesnt sound logical at all, does twrp use other hardware to sense input? no. Well, somehow the water made the phone buggy, because it works now Clean install of carbonrom.
Edit* I took my joy too early, its still buggy, sometimes the touch works great, then the os freezes and a simple restard of screen can make it funcion again.
I cleanflashed stock. Everything stock. After every clean install I can use the phone flawlessy for about 1 minute, before the screen freezes (animations still show, like background animations) and no touch is registered anymore, if i turn off n on the screen, i may be able to use touch for a few seconds again before it freezes. Im pretty sure my phone is broken, but im not sure what is broken, the touch obviously works, the screen works, its just some other problem, maybe a weird voltage builds up in the screen after you use it for a while because some little connection is fried i dont know. Im just curious what is wrong, maybe i should just send it in to a repair clinic.

[Q] Galaxy S6 Erratic behavior after hours of use

I am now in my second day of using the Galaxy S6, and have run into the same problem both days. The phone works fine in the morning and most of the afternoon. But after it's been on a while (in the evening), it behaves very erratically. The desktop buttons work unevenly and are sticky, and it's very difficult to type a text (or anything), since after a few letters, the keyboard letters disappear automatically, and I have to keep going back over and over until I've finished my message. It's a real pain.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Take it back. Sounds like you have a dud.

But in all seriousness, if you haven't rooted or messed with the system at all, and it's completely stock, there must be something wrong with your phone. It wouldn't do what you are describing unless something was terribly wrong. Take it back.
After I Odin'd back to stock, took the OTA and rerooted, I encountered very strange behavior. When I hit my Bluetooth quick toggles my volume up button would begin eratic behavior. Basically my volume up seems to have malfunctioned hardware wise. I reverted to stock, factory reset, wiped cache probably 10 times the last few days. No fix. So I determined it has to be hardware problem. Waiting on my replacement from Verizon.

Screen won't wake up

Anyone having issues with the screen not turning on? The home button still has the haptic feedback but nothing happens after that. The power button doesn't do anything either. Not sure if this is a defective phone or a s8+ overall issue...
Yes.. mine locks up frequently. Hold volume down and power until it responds
Haven't had this problem as of yet, and I have over 130 apps installed onto my phone. Transferred from Google first and Smart Switch after that. Haven't had a single problem.
seem the people in this link are having the same issues: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/phone-freezing-rebooting-unlocking-t3593075
hopefully its just a minor software glitch that can be fixed

I'm also getting this issue on my S8. Wondering if it's related to the always on lockscreen
Is this a serious issue?

Take it back for warranty
Just had this happen for the first time in the two weeks I've owned the S8+. Restart resolved it for now.
Had my phone since a day or 2 before launch and have not had this problem.
try to reboot a few times and also clear out the cache.
I remember the s7e had this problem and about 1 out of 20ish time the phone wouldnt wake up on first try. But they sent out an update to fix it.

I came here looking for answers, since I was experiencing the same problem (although no haptic feedback). This solution solved the problem. Got me into recovery mode, where I was able to turn off the phone and reboot.
Some of the answers suggested restarting. I don't think they understood the problem. The OP stated the power button was not working, as was my case. So 'just restarting' was not a solution.
I'm having the same issue but it started a couple weeks ago after I installed a firmware updated. It has happened 3 times since then, and never happened before that since I got the phone (on launch date a few months ago).

proximity sensor keeos turning display off...

I know it's supposed to, but it's starting to annoy me that I have such a hard time swiping down for notifications because 7 out of 10 times I try, the screen turns off.
Any fix for this?
Are you using a screen protector? It could be interfering with the prox sensor. There may also be an issue with the phone app as the screen should only shut off with prox sensor when you're in a call. If the phone app is stuck it might think you're still on a call. Have you rebooted the phone? Uninstall/reinstall updates for phone?
Someone else had a similar issue last week here or on reddit. I'll see if I can find it.
---------- Post added at 03:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:12 PM ----------
here it is, doesn't look like OP provided an update https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/help/problem-t3858582
@alnova1
I had the same issue (no screen protector also), dealt with it for about a week and finally called support about the issue. They told me that they have been dealing with other people who are having the same issue and did an RMA for me without much push back.
So I cleaned my screen real good, especially there by the sensor. It's behaving normally now. It wasn't THAT dirty, but apparently it made a difference. It I have issues again, I'll call support.
(No screen protector btw... Not yet anyway)
