I think the only major requirement is that it is not a CDMA phone. If you're in Europe, generally they have to allow you to do this. Otherwise you are sort of stuck with going through operator, or some dodgy site.

Hi i have m2 xperia i was wondering if i unlock bootloader will that unlock phone for all cariers also if not if i change to cm11 rom would that help and if that cant unlock it how can i unlock it. Carier doesnt whana give me code untill 24 months are pased and i dont need phone whana give it to my mom but she is mt:s and i am vip network thx for help ^^

Nothing will help you to unlock carrier lock except unlock code.
damit so its not like s3 i rember rooting it and unlocking it to all cariers with some program.

I have a Sony Xperia J locked to a network.
First, what can I do to remove the "lock"? If I flash a stock FW (normal version instead of the network company version)? Or can I remove without flashing a fw?
Sorry if this question is somehere answered but I couldn't find nothing "safe" enough for me to risk do something on the phone.

You can't unlock it with flashing, you need unlock code to unlock it, or go to some local mobile shops that can unlock phones. There's no free way.

I read the thread and i understand there is no way to unlock the Sony Xperia J by the root or something else ?
One way is buy the code ? in my coutry when the contract will end the operator dont unlock the phone :/
Maybe someone can give me the code if i give him a IMEI ?

As far as I know its not possible to unlock the bootloader on Docomo varients I'm afraid. Though I did find this on youtube so, ya know, perhaps...
