I have a O2 UK branded (and network locked) Xperia Tipo. According to the service menu the bootloader is NOT unlockable. What are my chances of debranding?
Spoke to O2 and when I get an O2 SIM with £15 credit they will send me the code to unlock the network but that will still leave me with the O2 rubbish on the phone.

It turned out to be easier than I thought:
- Root with unlockroot
- Replace /system/media/bootanimation.zip
- Rename /etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/shutdownanim

Hi, I have also this phone locked to O2, you unlocked it in legal via O2 by paying 15 pounds? Or found other way?
As far as I know, the only way to unlock the Tipo is by getting a code. It's free if you have a contract with O2 otherwise it's £15. Still waiting for my code, though. It can take up to 7 days...
I am thinking of getting code from ebay for 22$, sadly there isn't such thing as debranding engine for Tipo

AFAIK You can't get it for free.
Phone shops or maybe even orange can unlock it for you, but you have to pay.

As far as I know, you can contact mobile operator vendor that phone "belongs to" and they can give you unlock code.

Didn't think they could charge you if you ask the network for a pac code to unlock it to all networks. Thought it was just third party websites that charged. Is not expensive on the Web about 3 or 4 quid if you shop about online.

You need a pac code from the network it was on(usually free) or you'll need to buy one off eBay/amazon or pay a mobile phone shop that offers the service to unlock it to any network

Has anyone managed to unlock an Xperia Z3 401SO sim locked on the Japanese carrier Softbank?
I found a site in Japanese where the guy says that he managed to unlock his phone. Since my Japanese is not good, I contacted the guy in English but have not received any answer yet.
I bought a sim unlock code for the Unlocking Company but the 2 codes they provided me did not work and they reimbursed my purchase. The surprising thing is the type of lock on the phone. As shown in the image attached, the phone is Network Subset locked and the number of unlocking attempts is unlimited. Has anyone seen this on other phones?
I have contacted other unlock code providers and will update this thread when I receive any reply.

I managed to unlock the phone. I re-contacted the Unlocking Company asking them to send me the NSCK code which they did even if they had already refunded my purchase. The Xperia Z3 from Softbank in Japan can be unlocked with the NSCK code.
If you put a non-Softbank sim card on the phone, you will not get the screen to input the unlock code. In order to unlock it, I flashed a Docomo firmware (it also works with the international firmware) with flashtool. After the flash, you can reach the sim-unlock screen to input your code. I guess Softbank must have removed some files from its firmware to make the sim-unlocking harder.

I suppose he used SO-01G_23.0.B.1.38_docomo.ftf because Docomo Xperia Z3 doesn't have any other firmware avaiable, can someone try in a Sony Xperia Z3 T-mobile to see if this ftf works on it just flashing system?
