Recovery failing to flash

So I flash the stock rom on it without thinking and now it wont let me flash a recovery to the tablet threw fastboot or goomanager and it wont update throguh asus update but its booting fine and wont take any updates at all i need help being pointed in the right direction!

I flashed the wrong bootloader i think and how do i flash the correct bootloader without a recover?

in fastboot im getting the error: cannot load 'file name' :no error weather its cm or twrp it wont load it and i dont know what to do please help

First of all it would be important to know what bootloader you are actually on. You do not want to flash a recovery that is not compatible with your bootloader!
So boot into the bootloader with Volume Down and POWER and read the tiny script. From there select the Android with Volume Down and boot back to system with Volume Up.
And then please report in detail what you are trying to do in fastboot, which commands you use etc.
Without knowing what you are doing we cannot tell you what you are doing wrong.....
First step: In fastboot command: fastboot devices - Do you see the serial number of your tab?

bootloader version is us_epad-10.4.4.20-20121026
with a stock rom of 4.1.1
and trying to undo the rom cause im trying to put a stock 4.2.2 on it to get the drivers back on it from the stock rom.
in fastboot i just need to get a twrp installed and i can undo my mess

So you are on an ICS bootloader with a JB rom... How the hell did you manage to do that?
You did not answer my question about fastboot. What you tried and what did not work.
But anyway, how I would proceed, just to get you back into safe territory, is to download the latest Asus firmware 10.6.1.14.10, unzip the downloaded file once and copy the resulting zip to the root of your internal SD.
Reboot, and hopefully the stock recovery will recognize the update file and flash you to JB 4.2.1 (which BTW is the latest version for our tabs - there never was, and probably never will be a 4.2.2). Flashing the stock firmware will replace the bootloader.
So from there you just have to get fastboot working, flash the latest TWRP and then the custom rom of your choice COMPATIBLE with your bootloader and recovery.
If that doesn't work we have to try something else. But try this first and report.

Read the text in the upper left corner - current bootloaders enable fastboot in the bootloader menu automatically.

ok i got fastboot working and now it says when i got to flash the recovery it says error cannot open twrp.blob even though its the correct file.

Then maybe it's not in your current directory.

i found that and have been reading it but fastboot still cant read the twrp.blob even though its in the directory with fastboot.

ok ive re installed fastboot and adb sdk and did the environment variable path and it still wont recognize the blob it wont recognize cwm .img files ether and what does key driver not found..booting os

thankyou it moved directorys on me that was the issue

TWRP (wathever the version) ask a Password

I really don't know why and when, but i've upgrade my TWRP to the new one... and now when i enter in TWRP, they asking for a password... but i've NEVER set a password. I've try to downgrade to few older TWRP, the same password page again.
My bootloader is unlock, i'm on 4.2.1, but how to get rid of this freaking password in TWRP?

Mainly it happens when You go to TWRP after flashing it without reboot. Reboot should fix it, if not - reboot tablet after flashing TWRP.

Happened to me when I flashed the wrong version of TWRP because I put it in the wrong spot.

Well what had happened to me was I already had an old version of TWRP on my internal memory and I put the new version on my SD card which I wanted to flash. When I flashed twrp.blob, it flashed a very old version with an incompatible bootloader (whoops) which gave me the password error. So I put the new version on my internal memory, flashed twrp.blob again, and it worked.

I've do something wrong again.... i'm stuck in the password section...
To trying to reset the password problem, i've flash the older blob i've found on TWRP, the 2.1.4. reboot the tablet, trying to enter in the RCK section, nothing append, like a freeze... so I reboot, flash the newer blob, the 2.6.3.0... reboot... enter in the RCK, and always the password...
i'm going crazy... i'm about to slam the tablet! :silly::crying:

delete the 2.1.4 trwp from your tablet altogether
The do this exactly from fastboot:
Download the file, check the md5, rename to twrp.blob and put the file in the same directory as your fastboot.exe (unless you have /platform-tools in PATH then you can flash from anywhere). Turn off your device and boot to fastboot (power on while holding volume down, then select the usb icon and hit volume up to confirm). The device will now be in fastboot mode. Plug the device into your computer. Run the following command via the command line:

ok, i will try to resart form the beginning.
The driver in windows is installed. When i'm on android, I can copy and see the tablet in the explorer. When i reboot the tablet in bootloader mode, again in windows I see a "android device in bootloader", Fastboot command work when I try fastboot -devices, I see the device.
I'm on 4.2.1 but I need to reflash and wipe all the data to install a better custom rom, I know TWRP because i'm using it on my N7...
It's after that... that going really bad for me and I don't know why.....
Can I try to flash with ClockwokMod instead TWRP? Wathever the recovery, I just want to flash a rom inside the TF300T...

OK put the twrp 2.6.3.0 file in the folder platform-tools. Rename it to twrp.blob. Then run the command:

OK... I've see my error..... I din't see there is a "special version" of TWRP, the 2.6.3.0 - 4.2......

TF300T 4.2 TWRP Error

Hi XDA,
I am a complete noob, and this is my first time posting, so bear with me.
Some time ago I rooted and unlocked my TF300 with SuperSu. Recently I wanted to upgrade to 4.4 kitkat. However, my Tablet was stuck at Andriod 4.1 because of the the unlock.
I went to manually update my TF via the Asus website. I installed the 10.6.1.8 using my TWRP 2.5, and Oem 4.1 OS. Installation worked just fine. After install, I booted up and I had 4.2 with everything working correctly.
Next step was to install TWRP 2.7.0.1. I reset my TF and went into RCK to see something went wrong when updating.
My TWRP will not load, and I get the Android on his back with the red triangle when I try to enter RCK.

I managed to install 10.6.1.27, but it did not change anything with my boot loader.
I downloaded motochopper, but that didn't seem to work, just told me my abt was out of date. SuperSu isn't working now either, "No Binary, There is a problem."
How do I install TWRP 2.7 with no boot loader? Please help.

Most people just install TWRP via fastboot like

fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob
You could try using other root methods, like Framaroot or Kingo. I think Kingo was reported to work on the latest stock version.

I will look into that, but I am pretty sure I was already rooted, unless losing my boot loader means I am no longer rooted.
Another thing, I can't find a twrp.blob for 2.7, just a zip. I have one for 2.5, but that is useless because I already have 4.2. I also have not been able to find a working link to fastboot.
If anyone could give me a link to the fastboot or a link to a tutorial, that would be amazing. I have done my research, but all the lingo and different methods can be mind bending.

You can get the img (which substitutes as a blob) from extracting it from the TWRP 2.7 zip file.
1) You will need ADB and fastboot for this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269. I would suggest keeping the tablet at least at 50% battery.
2) Install Naked Drivers. This may be optional for you. If you can proceed to the next step without, you won't need it.
3) Enter fastboot by rebooting and holding down the power button. TF300 enters fastboot automatically since this is 4.2 BL.
4) Next we need to enter a command. In side the ADB folder, hold shift and right click. Then select Open command window here.
first check to make sure the device is connected:

The device serial number should be listed.

fastboot flash recovery twrp.img -i 0x0b05
Blue bar on device will fill. Be patient.
5) Reboot the Device back into Android. This is an important step.
6.) Go back into TWRP and install what you want.

Installed adb fastboot. However, my device does not automatically go into fastboot, I still have to hold down the volume key.
Once I am in fastboot usb (with the 3 icons), I fastboot successfully and get the serial number, then when I type the 'fastboot flash recovery twrp.img -i 0x0b05' command I get this error: cannot load 'twrp.img' : No error
I am attemping to use the 2.7.0.1 twrp from the 4.4.2 page. I have extracted the recovery.img (tried renaming to twrp and left it the same) and placed it in the root of both my external and internal sd.
I have now tried it with .zips .img .blob and I receive the same error everytime. Not sure what I am doing wrong now.

Put the twrp.img into your ADB folder, where you installed it. Then run the next command.

Awesome! Worked like a charm. twrp 2.7.0.1 installed perfectly.
Then I tried to flash the cyanogenmod. Said it installed fine, but it just gets stuck on the loading screen...

I am trying to do exactly what TallMilk is doing...put Cyanogenmod on my tablet. It is my understanding that I have to unlock my bootloader though? Which I have tried doing a million different ways with the Asus Unlock tool which always gives me an error.
If I follow the instructions posted above I will be able to flash Cyanogenmod without unlocking my bootloader?

Finally got it to work. I had to do a wipe first, read about old roms interfering with new installations.
SilentSpartan, I used SuperSU last year to root and unlock my tablet when it was still a 4.0 android to flash to 4.1. This recent update was from 2.5 TWRP on a rooted device running 4.2. When I installed 4.2, it blew away my TWRP, and I had to flash the new TWRP 2.7.0.1.
That flash from OEM fastboot to TWRP 2.7.0.1 is what I needed help with.

Damn, so I'm screwed. Why does Asus have to such so much...? You can no longer unlock afaik.

You're going to have to unlock no matter what. Did you try both v7 and v8 of the unlocker and calling Asus Support to tell them to put your serial number back into the database (get a manager)?

I've tried every firmware and unlock tool combination. Nothing works. I sent them an email a day ago. Depending on there response, maybe I'll try calling. I'm so fed up with this tablet, I'm about to throw it out my window. $400 POS. :good:

Did you ever get your tablet fixed? I am having some problems myself after a miserable m9 update.

Flashfire can't see my zip

I am trying to use Flashfire v0.53 to update my Google-sourced, rooted Pixel from 7.1.0 (build NDE63X) to 7.1.1 (build NMF26V). I've downloaded sailfish-ota-nmf26v-1988a458.zip to my phone and can see it with a root file browser but when I direct Flashfire to the same directory it lists no files. Any thoughts? If I'm going about updating my phone the wrong way, I'm happy to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks.

FlashFire is not working on this phone last I heard. Flash it with TWRP.

I've tried pointing TWRP at the OTA zip I got from Google and it fails. Perhaps because I need to unroot first? I was hoping Flashfire would do that for me. `adb sideload` failed, too.

You need to use fastboot. There are a few detailed guides in the "guides" section of both the pixel and pixel xl forums.
Basically you have to edit the flashall.bat file and remove the -w option so that it doesn't wipe. Then you have to fastboot boot into twrp then reflash twrp.zip and SU.zip
All the info is here just look around

https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/guide-update-fastboot-t3498187 seems promising. I can adapt to use sailfish vs. marlin. But I'm not sure how to know which image is for Verizon.

Copy the OTA zip you downloaded, from your phone to your computer. Reboot into TWRP. Go to Advanced and choose "ADB sideload"(not sure if that's exactly what it's called). Once the phone is waiting for ADB, go back to your computer and open a command prompt and type "adb sideload OTA.zip". OTA.zip will be the zip you downloaded. Example: if you copied it to C:\ you would type "adb sideload c:\sailfish-ota-nmf26-xxxxxxxx.zip" or whatever the zip is named.
That is how you would sideload an OTA. If you downloaded a full factory image then open "flash-all.bat" in notepad, remove the "-w"(it's towards the bottom), connect your phone, reboot to bootloader, run flash-all.bat.
Both a full image and OTA will remove your root and TWRP. You will need to re flash recovery and reroot after updating. Just follow the same guides you did originally.

I don't seem to be able to find the OTA on my phone. Not sure where it gets put.
From your description of using the full image, I imagine I 1) unzip the factory image zip, 2) edit the flash-all.bat in the result, 3) run flash-all.bat (that is, I don't rezip and try to use the package). Right?

That's correct. If you downloaded the OTA with System Updates then I'm not sure where it gets stored. If you downloaded it from Google then it would be in your downloads folder.

You can try the guide I wrote here to sideload the full ota zip from google.

Sounds like the driver isn't recognized. Does ADB devices list your device?

Now I'm in a boot loop. TWRP -- when it comes up at all -- says it is alpha2 and it doesn't prompt for the code to decrypt my data so the directory listing is gibberish. What do I do now? Reflash 7.0? Flash 7.1?
To recap, I have a Pixel I bought from Google with an unlocked boot loader and TWRP installed but can't boot to Android.

Alpha 2 is the wrong TWRP. You want RC1.

That looks like an ADB device driver problem. Do you see your device listed with ADB devices when in TWRP/Advanced/Sideload?

Power it down, hold power button and volume down to get it into fastboot.
Fastboot flash TWRPfilename.img
And if that does not work download the full factory image but edit flashall.bat to remove the -w which will save your data and flash the whole thing.

So, I think I had to do this. `adb` lists my device but when I try to sideload it says the device (null) doesn't exist.
Do I somehow tell `fastboot` to use the factory image .zip file or do I unzip it, edit flashall.bat, then run flashall.bat?

Unzip it into your fastboot directory. Then edit and run flashall.

help with rooting a oneplus 6 using linux terminal (not windows)

This is my first time rooting a phone but Im defiantly in over my head and think i almost broke the oneplus 6 when i was trying to enter commands in the linux terminal. So far I have unlocked bootloader and am currently stuck trying to figure out a) what exactly the twrp recovery really does, b) which is the right files to download, c) the proper commands to flash custom recovery in a linux terminal. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Command you need is fastboot boot (recovery name). Replace recovery name with whatever you called the download of the twrp image file.
Twrp is necessary to flash custom ROMs, kernels and magisk.
After flashing rom you need to flash twrp zip of your choice to maintain recovery otherwise it is overwritten by stock recovery.

The commands for Linux and Windows are nearly identical. You just need to use the Linux version of adb instead of adb.exe.
TWRP is a custom recovery. It's similar to the GRUB bootloader for Linux, but more touch interface friendly. It allows you to make edits to the system, backup the system, and install custom zip's for the system.

keep getting error
when i run command to flash recovery (sudo fastboot flash twrp-3.2.1-0-enchilada.img) i keep getting this error:
unknown partition 'twrp-3.2.1-0-enchilada.img'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'twrp-3.2.1-0-enchilada.img'

Instead of trying to flash twrp from fastboot do a sudo fastboot boot <image name> then flash the zip while in twrp...

Thanks bkeaver for the advice and im glad to say I finally got that phone rooted. One more obstical I experienced was the phone not booting into twrp instead it was locking up on a screen that said Qualcomm crash dump mode. I unplugged and rebooted by holding the power button. From what I could read online it had to do with compatibility issues with Android pie. The Blu_Spark TWRP img and zip files seemed to do the trick. Did you even try to read man page? Just use right syntax, which is identical in Windows BTW.

In oxygen OS ver.9, you must download "twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.86_op6.img" and "twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.86_op6.zip" from https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=27466#downloads ,
and launch twrp from this command "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.86_op6.img".
After your device boot trwp, you can install "twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.86_op6.zip" from your device's internal storage (if you copy into it) or adb side-load mechanizm.
Once zip installed, you don't need to run fastboot to boot twrp recovery (only you reboot the device to fastboot mode and select recovery, trwp boot up).
