Hi,
I have a weird issue with OTG.
Sometimes when I connect a SD card to my Moto G through OTG, the phone's screen just turns off and I can realize that it powered off.
So I have to reboot the phone. This situation doesn't happen always, just sometimes.
First, I suspected it's a CyanogenMod bug, but it's not. I wanted to flash a zip through OTG in recovery and when I was in recovery and I connected my SD card, the same happened.
I can't believe why this happens to me. Is it a hardware issue?
I think the micro-usb connector is ok, because I tried to play with it via charger's connector, OTG cable (without SD card reader) and the issue has never come up this way.
Did someone experience this? Does someone know why this happens?
Thanks in advance!

Mmm I don't use the CM but it's never happened to me... probably a software bug. Which app do you use for OTG management? I use stickmount, very good app, probably the best.

I don't use any third party app for that, and it happens only sometimes.
I tried an app called OTG Helper and my Moto G powered off more times while using this app.
Stickmount does the same, more shutdown.
Could be a bug of your ROM or bad compatibility... You can try to reflash all but probably this won't help...

Agreed sounds like your particular OTG device [sd card] is having issue with phone.

Thanks for the idea. I guess I found the problem.
I have tried 3 devices with my OTG cable and my phone powered off with all the 3 devices.
I found another OTG cable and I have tried the 3 devices again. My Moto G has never shutted down with this cable.
So, my first OTG cable is messed up. It's from eBay.
I'm so happy, the problem isn't in my lovely Moto G!

I thought that moray has usb support right? What am i doing wrong? :/
I even installed USB Mass Storage Watcher OTG but the problem is still there...

There seem to be many problems with so-called OTG-cables on ebay... No one knows if they really are OTG-cables or just plain MicroUSB-to-USB-Adaptors...
I bought the original Moto Camera-Cable here
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004VMI5CI/ref=oss_product
It works like it should, I can connect my USB-Stick, external HD, MP3-Player... You name it.

Did you try one of the free apps on the markeet that can help you mount your drive? Look for USB Watcher OTG and Drive Mount.
The problem just in the cable, I also recently received a similar, and he also did not work. I remake it and now it works fine.

Look at the picture, you need to connect 4 and 5 contacts in the micro-usb connector,
you tablet have usb-host support, tiamat mounts usb-otg automaticaly, no need any program, or modification of tablet.
Your problem in usb-host cable from ebay, you can remake it, or buy a new original cable.
Hello
Since CM 11 I'm experiencing reboots when plug the phone to the PC or USB Charger (Charger with USB standar cable). If I don't quit the cable the reboot falls into a loop.
With CM 10.2 everything was fine.
I was reading the problem with some other Motorola phones is related with SD Card and Software. And yes, it's. Razr HD is also affected along Droid Pro and Droix X.
But, this is because CM 11 has the bug or it's Motorola fault? I was reading people having all king of roms is experiencing the problem. Or, both are faulting?
Removing the SD Card before boot or unmounting and mount later fixes the reboot problem. But tis fix is annoyance.
Besides. The recommended fix of format SD did not work.
Someone else is experiencing the same problem?
Note #1: SD CArd it's fine. Tested with 2, 4 and 8 GB. Al makes th hone reboots.
Note #2: There several threads here on XDA but can't find something helpful over there
Note #3: Charger is fine. I'm sharing the with Milestone 2 and XT316 phones and no reboots at all.

I'm not aware of any problem. I have a 16gb card and have never experienced any issues. At one time or another I've been plugged into either my PC or USB charger but I can't say I've had any reboots. I don't recall anyone else posting on this thread about it either.
Does it reboot as soon as you plug in, or does something else have to be done too?

Hi,
Yes. Reboot anytime you plug the usb cable having the cable connected to PC or charger.
However.
I was testing another USB charger that is exactly the same model of the one I was using and no reboots at all.
I have tested two more USB cables without any reboot.
So maybe, defective cable? it's Motorola brand
And no matter if cable is having some problem...
Why the phone does no reboot when SD card is not mounted?
Why is the only phone of three sharing the cable that is experiencing reboots?
Weird
Dear moderator. Could you please move this posts to RAZR HD Q&A, Seems the problem is not reacted with CM
Im tried using usb otg but my usb doesn't detected,
Before update usb otg works perfectly but now it isn't working,
Did you all have the same problem or only me who faces this problem?
Is it because faulty cable or now kitkat update doesn't support usb otg?
can someone confirm it to me if your tablet is working with usb otg.

better question should be! do anything work as it should be, after the KK update....
nice job samsung, u did it again and screwed whole at once....
this time i am for sure that will never ever buy any samsung comp product!
after so many months of w8ting thats what we got! absolutely nothing at all....
You're not the only one with this problem, I've posted about this a while back: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770912
From the looks of it, we will just have to wait for Samsung to fix this (if they ever will) since no developers seems to be concern with this.
wondering

Yes, tested it the same day I bought it
awesome! im thinking of replacing my tab S with this one. more pocketable and with updated specs. except for the screen resolution, but who cares
Yes it is, but there is a problem witch that the device restart each time disconnect the external flash to set default location to internal storage.
I tried the external WiFi adapter from tp-link with Mate 8 but nothing happened. Wondering if any one has tried a wifi adapter with Mate 8 using an OTG cable/connector?
Yep, it does, but it took me 2 different OTG connector/adapters to find one that worked.

So was that some special OTG connector or what? Could you please explain a little bit?
I've been looking around for an OTG cable that will work with my Mi 4c and haven't got any guarantees from any I've viewed that it will work with Mi 4c. I know for sure the 4c supports OTG. Does anyone know of a cable that works?
You need to have Type-C OTG converter, there are alot on Ali Express sold with reference to Nexus 5x & mi4c

I know, I was asking if anyone knew of one that was guaranteed to work with the 4C. A link perhaps?

Fascinating, that didn't seem to work with me. Though the adapter works for charging.

does it work with data sync on pc?( i havnt tried mine) but im pretty sure it wont work. and if it does it means the OTG cabel is not good.
by the way i checked this only with a mouse, not usb , might be a diffrent issu.

The OTG cable has been tested to work (Nexus device and Xperia) and the adapter works for data sync. I have only tried with USB though, so that might be the issue
Hello !
Problem is more that a lot of USB sticks/devices are not recognized. The adpaters that I have worked well, but only every third USB stick.

I ordered this one:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Elo..._2&btsid=c8d2641a-70b4-46fd-bad6-ec0e0eede4ed
works perfectly. It arrived today after about 3 weeks. Working perfectly with my NTFS formatted HP 8GB and Kingston 16GB Flash Drives. My HP USB flash drive is v220w and Kingston's is Data Traveler 2.0
you need to reformat with Allocation unit not more than 16kb if your flash drive isnt recognized. I keep mine at 8kb while formatting.
