This is a tricky one
Yes, I also have this thing, but I can't say if it is a bug. A phone is supposed to play a ringtone repeatedly, right? I don't see an option to set my OPO to do so either.
I found out that it depends on the ringtone files. Some play repeatedly, some don't. You can test this just by selecting a ringtone in the ringtone setting and see if it plays once or repeatedly.
Workaround: I add the following metadata tag to my ringtone files and save them as Ogg Vorbis files.
ANDROID_LOOP = true
Note: There are some free apps that can do this on Windows/Mac.

Size of the mp3 ringtone? Problems?

Hi,
I have noticed that my phone takes a while to ring if I phone it from another terminal. However, if I have set it to "vibration", it rings much quicker.
Can this be due to the size of the mp3 I use as a rington? I am using a 2.13MB stereo 192 kbps. I am thinking of transforming it to a mono file with lower bitrate, but I have not tested it yet.
¿Do you think this can help? I have also heard that some people have had problems missing calls, due to the time the phone takes to ring. Maybe it is because of this...
Thanks a lot.
Hey boy
I dealt with this problem and I decided that it's better for the OS that the sound file is uncompressed. So the best format that you can set as a ringtone is the plain WAV format. You can convert a some mp3 music loop, not the whole song, to WAV and set it as your phone call ringtone.
But listen: I have found out that there is an interesting thing if you want to hear ALL your call and misscalls: in the Sounds and Notifications section you have an entry that says "Phone: lost call" or something like that. Look for it and choose to play a short sound, for example. This way, even if the phone call is too short to produce any sound, it always plays the sound.
I hope this helps
Thanks for the tip about the notifications for the missed calls. I'll do that.
I am at work now, but I will do some testing with other mp3 formats and with wav files, of course. Thanks again for that tip. Should I use any special format for the wav file (mono, estereo, bits per channel) or would anyone work? Which one is the most common?
Thanks!

Problem with mp3 message tones...

Hi everybody I've been searching every single thread about Tornado SP and I didn't find something related about my problem. I really hope you may help me!
The issue I got is:
If I select a mp3 song for the messages, when I receive one obviusly the song is played but it doesnt stop until it is played entirely even if I've already read the message.
By now I just use predeterminates tones but...
What can I do if I want that when I recieve a message and I open it the song stops???
Just a thought, but why not cut and have 10sec mp3 instead of 5min.
could be but

hey bllohin your suggest could be an option but i still think theres another way to stop the song played when a sms has incomed perhaps a registry fix or a tweak any way if you got something about it let me know it and thanks bro.
I don't think you'll find a registry fix, because no one would want to. It's too risky to mess with the registry when one can simply cut an mp3 and do the same thing.
mhhhh

thecraze you're right mess with registry it's risky but despite of I'll try to find how to fix that issue, because that it's a programing mistake, I used to have a Nokia cellphone and I never had problems with mp3 songs, if a message arrived just clicking "read" or "end call" button sound stops. Anyway I'll keep seraching and also I hope someone helps me.
Thanks for the advice "thecraze"

.mp3 Ringtones are not working

All of a sudden none of my .mp3 ringtones will not work on my phone. When I set an .mp3 and test it nothing happens or if the phone rings nothing happens. Then when I exit out of the ringtone application I can see it change back to a .wma. All other ringtone formats work.
I tried changing the registry key Hkey_Current _user Control Panel Sounds Ringtone(0) but it changes back to the .wma ringtone? Any suggestions?

Hi,
Did you install a third-party mediaplayer ? AFAIK WM only plays ringtones that are regged to WMP... and if you set another app to play MP3 by default, WMP doesn't know that filetype anymore.
Dirk
I never thought of that. I did load Win Vibe so I uninstalled it and rebooted the phone, however, I still have the same problem. Is there anything else that I need to change in the registry or elsewhere relating to that? Also, what does AFAIK stand for?
afaik = as far as i know

volume up/down buttons cant change ringtone volume

After update to PIE the volume buttons change the media volume and not the ringtone volume. is there any solution ?
I have same problem, need to send as a bug.
Hi. Welcome to PIE. not a bug, "feature". Google thought u don't change ring volume as much as media
You should see a gear icon, press it and it takes you to adjust the volume settings.
It's a change that Google implemented in Android 9.0
I had contact oneplus support and they told me they are going to fix it with next update ! ( I hope)
please everybody send them this bug..(future)
wow...apps and OS just keep going downhill. why??
anybody found a solution for this bug?

Only OnePlus can fix this "bug". You said it yourself earlier it's logged and will be in the next update. So wait.

Google made this change, not OP. I can fault OP on many things but not this one. Google is constantly making changes they think people want but it is usually the opposite of what people actually want. One of the many reasons I've stopped using many of their apps and services.
Google is like the new MS, they make "updates" and "changes" for the sake of change. They have a solutions and changes in search of a problem.
google make this change but in xiaomi redmi 5 plus after update to android 9 the up/down volume keys CAN change the ringtone volume. not only media volume like our op6!

Doesn't make sense at all. I want to adjust media volume when media is playing, otherwise it's ringtone. Just the way it was before.

I agree, but as I said Google thinks it makes sense.
File a Feedback/Complaint with OP AND also send them a Support Feedback email. Let them know you want it changed.
In one of the beta's it had the ability for the user to select what you wanted the button to control but it didn't come over to the stable.
do you know which beta version has this ability?

Agreed! I don't know who Google talked to who thought this is what they were changing. All I see is complaints about this change across forums and devices who got the update. Clearly, Google needs better people to talk too.

I guess there's no point in adjusting the volume of the ringtone because the OP6 has an alert slider.
Oh, the folley ,?
Yep, it's not a bug.

I really liked the new Pie solution, on Oreo, OnePlus already had added the option to change the default behavior and I changed to this "Pie" method.
ok. If I want to change the default behaviour from media tone to ringtone volume how can I do this?

You can't, not yet that is. Maybe they'll implement this "fix" in a new update.

Go over to OP and file a feedback/complaint about it. Hopefully they'll change it in an update if enough people complain about it.

Not playing the right notification sound

I've set my own notification sound. It usually plays when I get an email or WhatsApp message. Recently I get a short beep instead. I can see that the sound it set properly; both in settings and being picked up correctly by those apps, and my sound plays as I'm setting it so it's available to the system, but it's still playing the beep. I've had this phone a month or so and it's been fine until now. This sort of thing has happened on other phones - just one of those Android things. Usually though it can be cleared up by setting the sound again in settings, or in the apps themselves. But this time it's refusing to play ball! I rebooted my phone. I'm not prepared to factory reset it. Anything else I can try?

Is it all the custom notifications that it's not playing or 1 or 2? I recently made a sound file that wouldn't play as a mp3. I made it into a WAV file and it worked. Not sure if that will help you.

It's just one. It plays fine at the point when i'm setting it as default, but the apps choose to play some other sound. I fixed this problem by going into each app, selecting another sound, save, exit, then setting it back to the sound I wanted. But I shouldn't have to do this (and usually I don't).
