[Q] Samsung Galaxy S i9000 won't turn on after using Odin - General Questions and Answers

Okay, so I tried to flash on Android Gingerbread on Froyo though Odin. I assembled all the files rightly and still it won't re-partition. I unplugged the USB cable and now the phone doesn't turn on. It shows "Computer ! phone" kind of symbol, but download mode STILL works. I also kept trying to flash, but Odin hangs up and then fails. I have checked all the threads related to this, but those didn't do it for me. Any solution, please?

[Q] So confused!!

Plugged in my phone today, Kies states that there is an update available. I go through the update, no issues, it then states there is a firmware update available as well. Phone starts to do that update, but then stops, and has issues. Phone is stuck in download mode (yellow android guy in caution sign) I stupidly unplugged my phone, and it went into the phne!computer mode.
Looked all over in the forums, and it all says that I have to open Odin3 on my PC. I searched my computer, and can't find it anywhere, but I am rooted, using a procedure found on the forums here.
I have removed battery, and entered back into the download mode, but now have no idea what to do.....!!!! Help!!
You have to download Odin3 and get your phone to the stock firmware.
Head over to Galaxy S forums. Which Galaxy S model do you have?
Model number is SGH I897. I'll go there and try to get it.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy 5 (GT-I5500) won't connect to PC!

I've tried a few other forums but haven't got any replies, I guess since the Galaxy 5 isn't such a popular device. I figured if there's anyone who can help me they will be here though.
I wanted to put CWM on it so I could get a CM7 port on. Unfortunately it's just about impossible for it to get detected on USB. I've installed Kies (and even the generic USB drivers found in the SDK). In 2 days I only got it to connect once, and then I went and bricked it.
The one time it finally connected I ran Odin and tried loading CWM onto it. It still hadn't finished after half an hour so I figured it ended with an error that was never displayed. So I unplugged it and as expected - brick! I can get into download (upgrade/firmware) mode so I think it can be fixed if I can get CWM on it (and just install the CM7 port I had originally intended to put on).
Problem is I cannot get the darn thing to connect! to my computer I've tried two separate PCs, one running Window 7 x64 and another running XP x32. Is there a a certain process of connecting things? I haven't ran across anyone making mention of one.
Has anyone else experienced USB problems like this with Samsung phones? Would it even be possible to flash CWM on after it's been bricked like this? When I boot (normally) all I get is an image showing a phone and a PC with and exclamation error connecting the two. Please help!
Try to look for stock firmware on the forum.xda-developers.com and flash via ODIN. You need to be able to put the phone into download mode, so maybe get an USB jig. That should do the trick. Odin has to recognize your phone. First of all right click on the ODIN executable and select "Run as administrator" on windows. Plug the phone in the DL mode and wait until it appears as active in Odin. Then flash the ROM and pit file. (Don't use ODIN one click). If ODIN does not recognize your phone try a different USB port or reinstall Kies. The Kies trick was which I used and it was able to recognize my phone.
Thanks, martin0176. I can still manage to get the phone into download mode - it's getting recognized by a PC that's the problem.
Could you tell me more about the pit file? I only have an ops file.
Try a different cable. I was having the same problem on the Samsung Continuum and it turned out that the cable was working for power, but not for data.

need help! Odin wont flash! Can't boot to OS.

Here is the situation, I tried to flash a stock Skyrocket with CWM via Odin, and Odin keeps saying write failed. I then tried different USB ports, restarted the computer many times but still no luck.
This computer flashed SGS3 and Hercules before with no issue. I've also tried different USB cable. Now whenever I book the phone it said i need to connect to Kies to update. I can't even get into the stock recovery. The only thing i can get into is Download mode but Odin will not flash anything. How can I resolve this?
Please help!
Thank you.
RESOLVED:
I flashed the wrong ROM =D The phone is AT&T Galaxy S2. I kept thinking it was called the Skyrocket hence i download the wrong rom and recovery. That explained why Odin wont flash! After a while i realized the i-727 on the rom doesnt match the i-777 from my phone
You got lucky, really lucky. Flashing a ROM for the wrong phone is usually a hard brick. Read the ROM threads and make absolutely certain you're flashing a ROM for the right phone the right way before doing so.

[Q] Boot Loop/USB Debugging HELP!!!!

Im new to all this phone stuff so bare with me, I have no knowledge of all these terms either. Example: Flash, Root, etc...big noob I know. Anyways I ran into a problem with the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (4g) IDK :crying:, I was trying to go from version 2.1 Froyo to 2.2 Gingerbread? I was using Kies Mini to update it, It was successful...than I thought..."ehhh this new update sucks!" So I was on youtube and I saw ICS..I attempted to down patch versions or I believe Flash?(Correct me if I'm wrong) my phone back to Eclair.. Uninstalling Kies Mini and Installing the Samsung USB Driver(Note: Restarted Comp)... Wiped everything clean from my phone because I had nothing really important on my phone.. Downloaded T959UVJFD.TAR, Odin3 v1.3, and the s1_odin_20100512.pit Files...Now I turned my phone into Download mode, plugged in my USB, Odin said COM3, opened my pit file along with the tar file. Clicked on start and received "FAIL" in the end, I turned off my phone, cell phone icon with exclamation mark in the middle along with a pc. Used OneClick to soft unrick? my phone and got it back to Download mode and safe mode but!!!
When I reboot my phone it Boot Loops?(I see Galaxy S over and over again) Now I was doing some research and I keep seeing something about USB Debugging?! I also seen it in my settings option too! Maybe I had to check that to get past Odin? I cant get into my phone to click that USB Debugging anymore either... So lost... Please Help :crying::crying::crying::crying:
