[Q] Trouble updating to XNPH30O - apply_patch_check(" /system/xbin/powertop"
I am rooted with TWRP recovery and no other modifications. Received the XNPH30O update downloaded and attempted to install but I receive the following error:
apply_patch_check(" /system/xbin/powertop" , "50fdb5315765f12a72779840c45d067620f47339" , "dcbc90a8f63554761c85e859cf531af3a3d390b0")
I cant seem to find any information about this specific error other than on the OPO forums there are people that experience similar error but they'll be in a different part of the system. I saw someone that had similar error but in /system/framework/com.google.widevine.software.drm.jar. I searched around and found that my /system/xbin/powertop could be caused by the browser.apk in the OTA file. But I dont understand why I would have this issue and others that are also rooted with custom recovery wouldnt.
I tried to wipe dalvic and cache with no go and even tried to fix permissions with no go. Any help/insight would be appreciated.

I've searched high and low for a concise, comprehensive set of instructions as to how to reinstall the stock ROM on my Nexus S 4G.
This is the issue I'm running into: I recently installed the latest version of MIUI. (.29.) I'm trying to return to the stock ROM so I can have this device programmed for another account.
Now I downloaded the stock ROM to the root folder of my "SD", renamed it to update.zip and tried to install it to no avail. I also tried this with CM7... No luck. I keep getting an installation aborted error (Status 7).
I'm trying a few more methods, but any insight would be appreciated. I've never experienced this particular issue before in my history of installing ROMs on various devices.
Thanks.

Thanks Burgh. I found the ROM I needed within that thread. (GRJ90ODEXED.)
I have an HTC One S, rooted and unlocked. I downloaded CM10, attempted to update to it, yes without wiping(my fail) and sent the phone into a bootloop. In my attempts to fix I lost the ability mount the SDCard.
I did this to fix the SDCard and it worked - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459&page=12
I have tried to do the RUU update to bring it back to stock but it failed with error 171, USB Connectivity lost so I abandoned that idea. I did play with drivers, HTC Sync, reinstalls and registry cleanups all to no avail. This is the process I wanted to follow but no luck.....http://www.htconeforum.com/forum/ht...e-your-htc-one-s-back-100-stock-relocked.html
When updating with CM10 it installed VERY quick, like 20ish seconds. This seemed very fast so I thought maybe a different ROM would work and I went with Dark Jelly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848100
No matter what I do I am stuck in the bootloop. Looking for any guidance available of things to try. I have searched all over and tried the solutions that make sense but to no avail.
Fixed
So I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33857020&postcount=2181
delete that file and it booted right up. Have not looked at the Dark Jelly rom to see fi it has that file too but that may have been the issue with the other ROM as well.
Summary - CM10 contains that file that needs to be deleted before upgrading if you have hboot of low versions...I know, not very descriptive but its all in my posts above.
nvm, you got it.
Hi all, complete newby. Have an old galaxy 7. running really slow and was getting annoyed i cant run some of the latest apps. SO decided to attempt to put a Rom up to Jellybean.
1. I put the CWMOD on using odin by following a tutorial I found. went ok
2. I followed tutorial to copy the rom to my root.
3. completed Datawipe/reset
4.cleared cache
5.cleared Dalvik cache
6. Installed zip from sd card.
It didnt work. it said it was not supported / error had occurred.
So decided to wipe again and tried again a couple of times. still did'nt work. Plan B load AOKP_p1_build 38.
I Did as above and seemed to be going okay until reboot. it returned me to a modified CWmod screen that is now turquoise in colour instead of orange. when i reboot I get the galaxy screen, then the AOKP screen, but then it jumps to the CWMod boot screen.
I dont know what to do now?? any help greatly appreciated.
UPDATE
I managed to get it running after a few resets and cache wipes. Ive noticed after the fact that I didnt use Nandroid or bootstrap or anything like that. this was because i was not bothered about losing any pictures etc.
However:
I now get the 'cannot use android keyboard' message. I stopped and cleared its cache in settings, but this hasnt helped. searching around I have realised I caused this issue by installing newer Gapps than the android build.
My questions are...
1. Can I download and install a newer AOKP build for my Galaxy 7 GT-P1000, and a newer Gapps?
2. Can someone provide me with links for the AOKP build and Gapps if so?
3. Do I follow the same process as I did to get these on?
Hello all
I have XT1032 (GPE), and I had CM11 on it (nightly from 1106, I believe).
Today I downloaded the latest CM12 nightly (0115), and tried installing it from TWRP. The installation failed (I keep getting "Error executing updater-binary"), and I remained with no system partition.
I tried many guides and tips (the most promising one was this), but nothing seemed to work.
If I understand correctly, there is some problem in installing CM12 over 4.4.4 (from CM11).
I somehow managed to get to stock 4.4.4, but I'd much prefer to get back to CM11. However, all the download links on CM website don't seem to work over a week back, or something. Is there some other mirror with CM11 I can use, in the meantime? Maybe someone in here has a relatively recent CM11 zip file he can send me?
And what about a real solution to the problem? Is there a way to install CM12 on my stock 4.4.4? Am I the only one who got this error?
Thank you for your help.
Hi everyone,
I received the OTA update notification a long time ago but didn't have time to take a deep look into it (baby on the way... now arrived !), but I'm trying to install a lollipop ota update on my moto g.
It's not my first android device, I had about 10 of them and messed around with them, so don't be affraid to use the vernacular directly, but I'm aware that I might be making a rookie mistake too
My phone is a 1st gen 16Gb Moto G. IT's running 4.4.4 (System version 210.12.40.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR, I'm in France by the way). I did a few things to it :
- unlock bootloader
- install CWM
- root
- install xposed
- install cerberus and moved it to system apps
Before trying to install it I tried to reverse the steps back to stock :
- move cerberus back to user apps, and uninstall it just in case
- remove xposed
- unroot using the option in the SuperSU menu
- go back to kitkat stock revovery, using mototool v2.6 (so this might a 4.4.2 but I didn't find another one so far)
Then I clicked on the OTA notification, anouncing that 220.27.1... was ready to be installed, downloaded it ok, chose to install it.
Everytime I tried the phone rebooted, began the install and after a short while showed a error message and rebooted.
I tried to install it by putting the OTA zip file in /sdcard and install it with the stock recovery, but here's what I found out :
After downloading the OTA on the phone if I go to /cache/ (where the ota zip file is downloaded. To do that I need root access so I got to flash cwm and root it again, fyi) it shows another file, not corresponding to 220.27 but named : Blur_Version.210.12.40.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR.zip .... which is weird because it's the version that's supposed to be installed already !
I tried something else, found the "Blur_Version.220.27.1.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR.zip" file on a forum, put it on /sdcard/ and try to install it through recovery... same error.
Does anyone have an idea on how to install it succesfully without having to flash back a stock firmware ?
Thanks a lot to anyone giving a shot, you rock !
Mat
