Hello guys,
I've been playing around with custom roms some time ago and I know some basics but since that time (that was about 1 year ago) i haven't been updating my tf300t at all.
Unfortunately my tablet started lagging a bit. I came with idea that new fresh rom might solve this problem so i came back to xda site where i found that a lot has changed since my last visit. My tablet currently works on 4.1.1 Android CleanRom Inheretiance 10.4.4.25, recovery i got installed is ClockworkMod v6.0.1.4. I belive this setup is little outdated. I'd like to install this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/rom-t2817919
How ever all installation guides are created for clean Asus rom, i couldn't find any guide how to install it from the point I currently am not to mention I have no idea what actually bootloader verion I've got, I simply don't remember that. Guessing its 4.1 but how can i be sure that.
Could someone give me some tips ?

Hi Krakus.
Since you are quite a bit behind on this I suggest you start from the beginning completely.
The first step would be to download the correct 4.2 Firmware. Unzip it once and flash it in your current recovery. Doing this will replace TWRP with the original stock recovery and you will need to start again.
I recommend my full guide for beginners located over at transformer forums http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...nstall-roms-tf300-jelly-bean-kitkat-roms.html
Most of the ones here don't have everything in one place or are outdated and one wrong move can turn into a very difficult situation.
Please give the guide a read and feel free to message me on either forum (I have the same username on both) we have quite a few very helpful XDA tf300 and tf700 members over there including some who develop and test new ROMs.
Good luck.
PS. ROMs have come soo far since back then you won't even believe it!

so its been a good year or so since i last played with custom roms on my touch pro 2 from sprint
and i'm ready to experiment in playing with just the titanium rom or an energy rom again
but i don't remember the step process anymore
i know my phone is still unlocked and i still have the links to the different apps and roms i was interested in
but it seems i didn't save the links to the directions i was able to clearly follow in doing this, and for some reason not finding them again
i remember there being talk about the need or no need to task 29 the phone and then flashing the rom
i'm just unclear in the process i should take the steps
i have done some reading and research on this and going to double check for any post i have been in on here and a couple other sites to make sure i didn't over look them
but any guidance or links would be a great help

If you are currently running a custom rom I recommend you task29 before you flash another custom rom. Otherwise, just put it in bootloader, connect to your PC and run the RUU for the new rom. There is a nice Advanced Flashing Utility made by Barian that does task29 and can be very helpful.
thank you for the info
i have made some progress since i posted that
i remember after posting here about you once saying i would probably get more support for my sprint phone at ppcgeeks and so i post there as well, got some help and did more digging on my own
i'm back to designing my own custom rom again and will see if i can get help cooking it and getting any fine details figured out
but it looks to be a long progress and probably when i'm close to done or ready to experiment there will be no support for this phone lol
if your curious as to what i'm working on i can post a link to my first attempt at designing my own rom
i'm still using it as a bases but now that its a second run and i understand more than last time i have made some adjustments but nothing that i have posted yet since im still in the early design points of the new design
I remember your concept thread and you had some great ideas. Good Luck to you!
Hello all,
as everyone, I'm excited to flash ICS, but sadly, I received my tab today, and it seems to be a P6211... After reading around, I tried Odin Lite, with the 6210 flash kernel, but it's not working (which seems logical), and I can't find any other method to flash my tab... I used to fiddle around with my Xperia Arc in the past, but I'm hesitant to use the tools I used back then...
Can anyone with a P6211 shed some light how to? (Or anyone with enough knowledge?)
Many thanks in advance!
Are you trying to flash the official rom or the cm9 rom?
I wanted to try the official Rom indeed. Not fully functional roms tend to make me nervous after a while

I have not tried it myself, but I hear the latest CM9 has functional bluetooth and wifi .
Well,
after reading and googling even more the past days, I finally found out there's also a pc Odin version (guess I missed that somewhere)... I had already downloaded the new firmware and this link got me through it - Odin procedure wise... http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-tab-7-0-plus-p6200-update-ddkl2-honeycomb-3-2-firmware-45993/
Fairly easy and everything seems to work
Sorry for asking stupid questions
i would like to preface this by acknowledging that this was a serious mess up on my part. i tried to root my sprint nexus s 4g the other night. I used a guide on nexusshacks dot com due to its simplicity and detailed instruction.i did all necessary steps but the first time i tried to boot into clockwork recovery i got a dead android and a red triangle error message. my phone restarted a few minutes later and i was able to fix that problem (or so i thought) and boot into recovery. i applied the correct zips and such that came in the download and i went off to sleep. the next day i tried accessing super user and realized it didn't work. i went back to that guide and noticed that its was for ginger bread and there was a new guide linked at the top for ICS . this is were i need assistance. is it enough to just do a hard factory reset and start over or is there more to it than that. also, will such a guide work on jelly bean or should i find another guide. i only use that site for the fact it has a well done step by step tutorial and all needed files compiled into one download. i am aware this site is much better for such things, but i'm, new here so i felt a tad intimidated. anyway, any help is appreciated, i already looked for similar problems but no one else made the dumbass mistake.
(i cant post links because this is my first post, so i apologies for the inconvenience)
Hello again,
I would like to install the least buggy Jelly Bean ROM onto my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T. I have never rooted my Tablet before and I am on the latest OTA update by ASUS
Android Version 4.2.1
Build JOP40D.WW_epad-10.6.1.27.5-20130902
I very much would appreciate some hand holding on this whole process. I have signed up to the CyanogenMod website but as yet not had any replies.
I don't really know what ROM to go for as its a minefield, but I would like the most stable Jelly Bean version. Not too keen on moving over to Kit Kat yet.
I have never done this before and I have quite a bit of trepidation about the whole process but as it is, my official ASUS Jelly Bean operating system is laggy and the battery drain is exceptionally noticeable. The tablet can drain empty on Stand By within a couple of days. I have tried all the tricks to extend battery life, including charging Tablet and battery spereately, Cold Boots and Fresh installs but nothing helps.
Cheers

If you ask 5 people about this you will get at least 10 opinions...
I choose not to vote on that part of your question.

The most important point is to select the right recovery version for your bootloader/ROM. As you are going to install a 4.2 ROM, I suggest TWRP 2.5.0.0-42. Not the latest, but proven and stable. Make sure to pick the -42 version matching your bootloader. The next point is: don't use the wipe data option on the bootloader screen, but use the wipe options in recovery instead.
If you follow these two points, you avoid most of the issues that get reported over and over again.

Hello
Thank you for replying. I am very green at all this and I don't want to mess things up. You mention getting a matching boot loader. How do I check what bootloader I posses and where do I find the correct stuff?
I now next to nothing about this process other than bricking my Samsung Ace phone a year ago and I have not dabbled in this since then. I am willing to get my hands dirty but I want to know how to get out of trouble should I do something stupid, which will most definitely happen.
Are you able to post a link to a tutorial that will help me out?
Cheers

You can see the version of your bootloader at the top left of the bootloader screen. It should match the last Asus stock ROM version you installed: 10.6.1.27.5 in your case. This is the latest bootloader available and should work fine with all up-to-date 4.2 ROMs. Read the first post carefully, it should mention, which bootloader versions are supported. No nee to update.
Note that flashing custom ROMs will not touch your existing bootloader.

Have a look at nvflash flatline for your bootloader 4.2. It allows you to extract some files from your device. If you keep those safe, you are almost brick-safe, as you can then use nvflash to recover your tablet from most known issues.

I am not aware of a guide specifically for flashing custom ROMs, but most ROMs should have good instructions in the first post. Anyhow, you can browse the stickies in the General forum. They have a lot of good information.

So my aging TF300TG is so slow, that i was gonna discard it for new hardware. As a last ditch effort i searched for a solution and found this forum.
But the more i read about flashing, the more worried i became. That's why i could use some help.
I have read the Beginners Guide and i've unlocked the bootloader (says "Bootloader is Unlocked" on reboot) and i've confirmed ADB and fastboot are working, by using "fastboot devices"
The next step is flashing a recovery. This is where i got scared. Posts like this warn that flashing the wrong recovery is disastrous and will likely brink my device. Also i can't seem to find a recovery that was made for the TF300TG, and i don't know if a TF300T variant will work or not. So please help me locate the best recovery.
I've read about NvFlash Flatline. What is this and should i do this before flashing recovery ? how does this prevent me from ever getting bricked ?
Some INFO that might help you. Please ask if more is needed.
I plan on using KatKiss - KatshMallow
Bootloader says "WW_epad-10.6.2.11-20131213" A03
Tablet is a TF300TG with stock android version 4.2.1 Jelly Bean
Thank you for taking the time to read, and hopefully respond to this post. I really would prefer to get it right the first time.
Took the plunge and just tried stuff without knowing if it would work, but it did. I now have a TF300TG, working as a TF300T running marshmallow.
I flashed
Code:
twrp_tf300t_kang_2.8.7.2.img
using fastboot and then followed the install instructions in KatKiss - KatshMallow post and it all worked like a charm.
Was a bit worried when formatting /DATA took 30 mins, but besides that the tablet is very fast and i've had no problems at all.
Thanks for posting this. I have a TF300TG too but never really used the mobile data capability and as a device it just never has been that useful for me, seemed good at the time I bought it . I have been looking at other options of installing linux etc but all project I could find are incomplete and dead. I thought I might be resigned to getting another device, so I was very pleased to see what you had done and have followed your lead. I am very happy with the Katkiss 6.0 ROM, it performs much better that the old Jellybean system, and using the Microsoft office apps I have everything I need to get useful jobs done easily.
Good job Brian & the KATKISS team, much appreciated!
Edit: useless post
Glad everything worked
