[Q] Receive a vCard sent from Nokia devices in Android. - General Questions and Answers

My boss had sent me two contacts of the suppliers. He uses Nokia E5. I know that it would be in vcf format. My Galaxy Grand received 2 messages saying <content not supported>.
Is there a app to receive business cards from any phone. This one is pulling my nerves.

Hi, I've faced the same problem receiving vCards from Nokias so I've created app bizCard Manager.
Get it on Google Play. Let me me know what do you think.

Going along with this, is it possible to import it by going through a file explorer by any chance?

Well I'm not sure what and why do you want to import in file explorer.
My app intercepts any NEW sms vcards sent from Nokia by sms to your Android device when installed.
You mean those two previously received vcards? No it is not possible to import them. Anyway thanks for a tip, I will try to import vcards from sms inbox too, because now I'm importing them from MMS box only.
But let me know if I'm wrong about your question.

How to alter Send as vCard behavior?

As a rule, I use neither SMS or MMS, but need to send Contact details by email frequently.
I note that people have previously asked how to change the Send as vCard behavior to use email accounts instead of MMS. But the questions are a little old now.
Does anyone have an answer yet, either for WM6.0 Smartphone or WM6.1 Touchscreen?
Thx.
*bump*
I sorely miss this feature. I was wondering if it could not be achieved by editing the registry. Anyone?
Has anyone found how to do this, I realise its an old question, but it would be handy to know?
Yes, this is not existing. Unbelievable !
I'm using a workaround for this.
1st/ start a send vcard (MMS)
2nd/ the card is stored in folder /temp. Filename seems always to be 'me.vcf'
3rd/ attach it to a normal email using whatever kind of file explorer !!
I'm open to any kind of better solution or workaround !

Import SMS from Android to iPhone?

Hi!
my sister got an Android phone for her birthday, but after some time, she realised, she doesn't like it so much...She decided to buy something more "user-friendly"(i don't understand her, she's crazy!!) and she decided to buy an iPhone.. But she has no idea, how to import her sms messages from Android to iPhone(if it is possible). Don't you know any solution, how to get it working??
Thanx a lot
Try saving the sms' to the sim card and just transfer the sim across, and save them to the phone.
if it works give me the android. Her loss can be my gain.
You can use "91 mobile assistant for android(visit www.91.com to download)" backup sms messages.
then, use "91 mobile assistant for iphone" restore your sms messages.
P.S:Your iphone must JB at first,and add weiphone(app.weiphone.com/cydia) by Cydia(install afc2).
Ok, thanks a lot i'll try it

You can use SMS Migrator here: http://www.androlib.com/android.application.org-baole-mainimporter-iCDt.aspx
SMS migrator only works for importing to android, not iphone.
91 mobile assistant android can only export as txt xml or csv,
91 mobile assistant iphone can only import .db files.
Is there no way to convert an xml into a db?
You mean export.
So I guess it's not possible then?
This is so amazing, with all this modern technology out there and no, there is no way to move data from product a to product b? It seems that this industry is indeed stuck in a thick cloud (of how to make things extremly hard for customers who want to switch).
Jailbreaking an iPhone 4s would not be that easy and I personally do not like to do this.
Why can't apple step up and create a "easy to transfer everything on the android to iPhone" application and google could do it vice versa? With what we have now it is either forget your data transfer and be stuck forever or throw it overboard and start from scratch. This is IT from the stone age and not the fancy miracle pixie dust stuff that is printed on the sales boxes.
I'm just switch from android to iphone,
is it really no way to convert sms from A to I?
My sms brought from my Palm -> WM -> Android...

I badly need any apps to do this..... my brother offered his galaxy s2 to me if i transfer all his contacts / sms to his new iphone 4s....
guys, any luck !!
Hello Together,
as I had the same problem (my girlfriend switched from android to iPhone) - I wrote a complete App that views the android sms-table on the iPhone, checks out contacts from the iPhone adressbook and allows to delete not needed messages!
If you are interested in the solution (as I'm still working to get it certified from apple) you can already contact me under philipp[at]frenzel.net
If you don't understand why it's only a viewer, this is because apple closed down any methods to add records to their tbl_messages in the background (uihuihuihui)
Took me days to dig into this "specials...".
Cheers Philipp

I used smsbackup + and I successfully copied all the messages on the database to gmail. But now my question is: how can I restore these sms on my iphone 3G iPhone OS 5.1?
Thanks

U can modify the sms.db itunes backup file for add/remove/manage sms/mms. For who know a little bit of database language, i think all is possible. Remember we talking about text message, and non machine-code
With Android system we can export on many ways the sms (for example in xlm) and with another software (OSX, Windows, Linux) is possible merging the messages and create a new sms.db. After, with a synch through iTunes, we can have do the job.... Utopia ? I don't think....

txt (sms) messages not sorted properly?

Hey guys,
I've got an annoying problem with my touch pro. For some reason, text messages in the sent folder are not sorted properly. For example, if i choose to sort them by "from" option (which is supposed to sort messages by contacts' names), all messages get jumbled up and i see several texts from contact X, then a few texts from contact Y, then again a few messages from contact X, then Y, and so on.
I also noticed that when i search for a keyword in my sent folder by typing that word, it doesn't find all the matches, but it only finds some of them.
One more thing is that i tried this with the sent folder of a new touch pro 2, and i got the same problems! So i guess its not a problem with my device....but anyhow i am using the latest official HTC rom.
I just wanted to mention once more that this is a problem with the sent folder only, inbox folder works flawlessly.
I really appreciate it if you guys can perform the same steps and see if you have similar issues...or if you might know or can think of a possible solution for this sorting problem, i appreciate it for sharing it with me
has anybody tried sorting messages by "From" to see if it works?.....

Receiving vCard on Android

I am having difficulty viewing a vcard received via text message. My phone recognizes it's an MMS but views it as a Multimedia file and tries to play it.
My phone (EVO) is rooted running Cyanogen 7.0.1.2 and I'm using the builtin messaging app. I don't want to use handcent or an alternative messaging app.
I have taken a screenshot of what I'm experiencing
There doesn't seem to be a solution to this..
android cant get vcard i think.
someonew please build a fix or hack for it ...
its been too long that noone could solve it
vCard
That's not true Miui can send and receive vCards and I have used other roms including those based on Cm10 that could do the same I think you need a modded mms.apk Easiest would be to use Miui.
nshedbi artistic
iam saying about vcard sent as sms (not mms)
when my friends sent vcard as sms b y their nokia, sony etc i dont even receive that sms in my mobile .
and thee no option to sent sms either ...
is there any solution for this ?
go sms
Have you tried Go sms or Handcent?
yaa i had tried both but no use
I've been searching forever for an app that will handle Vcards sent to my S3 via a Blackberry or iPhone. The MMS comes in blank on my text app (8ms messsaging) or even stock messaging app, but there's no way to view the vcard attachment.
Enter "Save MMS Attachemtns" app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobappli.savemms
Opening it brings up a list of all of your MMS messages within your text threads. The interface isn't very advanced and I haven't played with it enough to be able to select just one MMS, but regardless...clicking save will export all MMS to a folder on your phone entitled "SaveMMS"
From there, you'll need to delete the extra extension text after ".vcf"
Now click on it to open with your vcard handler app. I use DW Dialer as it's way better than stock Google dialer. It takes 8 seconds to respond after clicking, but it will import to your contacts.
This is far from an elegant fix, but if you receive vcards for work like me, you need something that will work, no matter how involved.
If anyone has a better way, let us know but a big thanks to the dev for writing this.
Hi guys.
I've been working on vCards on Android for few years. If you wanna check my app bizCard Manager. It supports sending and receiving (importing) MMS vCards too.
But to be honest, many current davices has MMS vCards suport built in nowdays.

[Q] WhatsApp Integration (Idea)

Hi,
I was wondering, if it would be possible to integrate the Whatsapp messages for a contact in the sms history. So that you don't have to look up twice all the messages because you have them all at one place.
Furthermore, it would be great if i am writing a contact a sms who i also got in WhatsApp that then the message would automaticly send via WhatsApp. I mean something like that my phone checks wheter the contact is in WhatsApp and if yes sens over it and not a normal sms.
These two things would be fantastic because I never have to open up the WhatsApp App because everything is integrated and works automaticly.
Could this be done?

i need same thing....i want that my whtsapp can send simple sms too....all in same list...possible?
Possible... maybe a simple symbolic link and edit some smali would do it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Anyone can do that and prog a little addon app?
Subscribed...
Do tell us if someone is succesful...
Any new posts about this? I just switched to Android from Blackberry and I find it a huge pain. Also I wish there was a number next to the notification icon on the top.For example is you have 3 messages it will have 3 and then the icon. I will look around for a fix for that on my phone.
