Hello:
My sk17 touch screen is bricked because i flash a wrong ROM y tryed every fix posted here but no one work, so after days of research i find i have a missing file in /sys/devices/platform/spi_qsd.0/spi0.0 folder i want to add it but android prohibited.
I try it in ES File Explorer with root and R/W enabled and with ADB commands but still no luck
Is there i way to modify files in /sys folder?
Is the phone rooted? If you can get a custom rom onto it like cwm or twrp then you should be able to use adb as root and put the file there. If you want to try this just ask me how.

I ran the bat file which I downloaded from here. When it runs it says can not find file nv_data.bin. Anyone have an idea what's going on here?
It is in the /efs folder. I am not familiar with the captivate, but do you have rw permission for that folder? Do you need root permission also? Do you have adb setup correctly? Have you tried to manually back it up with root explorer or any file explorer, then do whatever from the computer?
I cant go to recovery through Rom Manager for some reason. It works manualy( power+volume) but when I click it from the app it freezes, and shows an exclamation point triangle
have you tried to reinstall the app?
Wich CWM do you have?
thy the above post; if that doesn't work, go into recovery manually and fix permissions
that must be why
I was following this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVyGw6vycFo
and it said I had to wipe my data which I did, and maybe CWM was removed?
Ill try to flash CWM and see what happens.
Worked! thanks
In wich way?
Have you reinstall Rom manager App or reflah CWM Recovery?
actually, theres been a trend going on here....
I went on recovery to check if its working after I flashed it and it worked, after turning it off and removing the usb out of my computer I tried again and it didnt work.
Any ideas why?
Edit: when I had ROM manager I already tried to Flash CWM there if you're wondering.
Rename /etc/install-recovery.sh to something else with your preferred file explorer with root capability. Now reflash cwm and it will stick. What you are seeing now is stock recovery.

where can I find /etc/install-recovery.sh and what do you mean by file explorer with root capability?
Root explorer, ES File Explorer or something of the sort. This will let you directly modify files on the /system partition. Just enable root functionality in the settings, allow root when the popup comes up and rename/delete the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh file (this is the correct path, /etc is a link to /system/etc - ignore the other one).
Directories work pretty much the same as windows except it doesn't use "drives" (ie, C:\, D:\, etc), everything is found within the root directory (which is /).

fairly new to android so I have no clue what you are talking about sorry... can you give me some steps on how to do that. again I apologize, Im still new
Download this from the market, i'm sure you'll figure it out
quick unrelated question: I tried to apply the ROM and it didnt continue, it said it was aborted or something
Until I get the supercid working , I have no way to have the s=off ( to mine best knowledge). I try many time to change the cid and fail as I am on the new jb stock rom(OTA). From what I did observe, the problem is the write protection, but I can not figure out if it is the /dev /block or the single file. I try to change attribute, but with no success. I did not try to rename the file. What will happen if I could rename the file(mccblk0p4) and copy the edited one. If I could rename the file, then not only my cid will be gone but the IMEI too and that would make the phone unusable. Checking with Root Explorer, the /dev /block and the files are in rw and should be writable. I am going to install Linux Mint ( my favorite) and see if I can change attrib in LInux. Any other suggestions?. Thanks.
I found program for windows called "Android Commander". It let you access the phone file system, but when I try to copy my cid I got message that access was deny. Still looking.
I installed adbinsecure and shows root in AC. Will copy the file and stay in phone until reboot. Look like the AC copy to memory, not the physical dir.
Update:. Writing to /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 will not work. I was able to copy mod file to /block and stay there until reboot. I was able to copy using AC. Restart the program and the file was there. On phone, I use Root Browser and the file was there. I use Total Commander and the file was there.
After rebooting the phone - the file was gone. Getting supecid this way will never work. The question I have - why do we need to change the carrier ID to have s=off?. If we need it to change then will not be in that file. Still looking.
Please Help I have deleted xbin folder in system/xbin in my samsung gts5303 and now i want to again root my samsung gts5303 but it is not rooting now.Firstly i have rooted it with Root Master android app but now when i m trying to reroot it with Root Master app it shows Sucessfully Rooted and also installs supersu app but not installs binary becouse binary is installed in system/xbin folder and i have deleted it.
and an unknown folder sbin is added in /sbin. and it is empty i have no root acess but when i m deleting it it is sucessfully deleted but when i comeback to / path it is added again
Now i m requesting you to please solve this problem and give me any app by which i can add xbin folder again in system/ with out root.and with out pc because i have not any pc...
thanks in advnce...
I hope you have a nandroid back up, otherwise it is going to be really hard to do with out a PC handy.
You will not be able to add File or folder in system even 3rd party app will not be able to write on system folder without root permission so try to full unroot the phone then again try to root so there is a chance of reinstalling binary again anyway don't you have nandroid backup?
how can i do nandroid backup

Since it's a Tv Box it's not possible to root the device.
I'm trying to edit the Firmware. I extracted the "system.new.dat" but I can't find a way to add a file to a directory that is not there.
When I hard reset the Tv box I find many folders:
-one of them is /sys/... where I have to put my file
- another one is /system/... witch I'm looking now that I've extracted the Firmware.
Any Ideas?
What file would you have to push to your /sys folder???
Alternatively, have you tried turning it on, running adb su push or adb shell? Once you have a shell im pretty sure u can pop in adb shell sh ****.sh & run an exploit for temp root at least....
I'd either search for forums discussing your specific t.v. or explain what the file does for you to see if we can come up with a non-root alternative
