EVO Shift 4G: Looking for PG06100 zip to downgrade - EVO Shift 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

...and/or to get it back to stock (2.3 or 2.2).
I've found a lot of links throughout XDA. But, without exception, they've all been dead links. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm not interested in rooting. My phone is already rooted, S-OFF. I just want to get it back to stock so that I give it to someone else and they can activate it.

You can always try prboy1969 he is a living archive

You don't have to unroot it to activate it. I've had 3 shifts given to me that were rooted and I activated them on my accout.

Cool, that's good to know. Do you know if it matters if it has a stock recovery or custom?

[Q] Lets Talk Nexus

ok, first i am new the forums but not new to the rooting game. I should've researched a little more before i went and jumped on the sprint deal. i just thought that the nexus s 4g had a much larger dev community. What i mean is, when i had my OGD it was the best thing that has ever happened to me, i mean it got soo much love and it was easy to modify. i moved to the DX after that and then jumped the NS4G for sprint. So here's my questions...
1)Can/is there a better radio to flash to improve data speeds other than the update?
2)can i flash some of the NS roms on my NS4G?
3)why is everything thru adb? i mean, why no zips and simple metamorphs?
4)a better comprehensive guide on how to use adb coming from where ive been. lol nowhere near using adb. i need this bad
5)any other kernels im not seeing?
6)will miui ever support 4G?
i just want to know as much as possible bc i have a lil baby girl and ive spent alot of time searching. i cant spent all day so i skim thru. please if there is any others questions that i shouldve asked please guide me in the right direction. lets get me up to speed as well as others. thanks guydes
There is plenty to flash for the ns4g.
The KE5 radio is the latest and by far the best. It came with the 2.3.5 ota.
There are plenty of kernels. Matr1x, netarchy, Trinity, Jame bond, just to name a few.
There are roms that are compatible with all versions of the nexus s. Read the rom descriptions.
I believe MIUI.us supports 4g but don't quote me on that.
The reason you see alot of ADB talk is because the Nexus s is considered a development phone. ADB is a more advanced and more reliable method. Of course you don't have to use ADB for everything. Most everything is made as zip files to be flashed from recovery like every other phone.
How old is your baby girl? I have a 9 month old so I can relate!
There are some really good guides in the development forum I suggest you read to become more familiar with the phone before you do something you regret. Good luck!

Unfortunately MIUI does not support 4g since there's no 4g in China.

I want to run miui but my 3g is incredibly slow here. I need 4g. Are any off you guys good or familiar with adb? See i'm miss that in cyanogenmod, where you could easily go into settings and change the status bar colors and such. Now I see you have to conduct mad science routines just to change it. Hell, anyone have a very good guide to learn this stuff from.

@remedy, she is 1 year old that started walking at 9 months that just completely terrorizes everywhere she goes. Lol
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Try this...
That should give you everything you need to root...plus links and such
I use this kernel on my stock rooted NexusS4G. The base 1 @ 1.2, tiny undervolt.
That guide is pretty helpful. I'm already rooted with deodexed stock
2.3.5 I look at that party everyday thinking it will get updated with something I haven't seen. I like the kernel to I think I might flash later after the bears game.

Mine started walking at 8 months and chasing her around is a full time job!
I recommended netarchy nexus kernel. A nice speed increase and super stable!

You can flash recovery from fastboot. In fact it is the preferred method!
Make sure the recovery image is in the directory you have adb open from.

Ics root process

So, when we get official ics, with the rooting process differ..? And if so, how? I know it may not seem like a huge problem, but for some reason tthis worries me alot. Thanks guys

If you already have the bootloader unlocked and clockworkmod recovery then you will be fine as people here will put out pre rooted roms both stock and tweaked. The thing to remember is no matter how much android changes it is still Linux and open source so people will still be able to edit the program to get root access.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
But even though I have unlocked bootloader and clockworkmod, what if I take the ota..? Then what?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
You will still be rooted if not just root like you did before. Google is not apple Google does not try to block root access.

No don't root it. Take it to at&t as mentioned already.

As always, make sure the battery is inserted correctly. You can attempt a factory reset using the stock recovery (you would use the home softkey instead of the power button on the stock recovery) and see if that fixes it. If not, call att or take it to a store.

Rooting Samsung Sgh-I896 on Rogers in canada

Hey everyone
I have been tiring to look up how to root my Samsung SGH-I896 that is on Rogers in Canada but have haven't been able to find and think that matches my phone info. I will list my firmware and other info if some can point me in the right way that would be nice.
Model = SGH-I896
Frimware = 2.3.3
Kernel version = 2..35.7-i896uxkh2-cl296008
Build number = GINGERBREAD.UXKH2
Thanks
I have the same phone and believe me it's not as easy as it is for the us users. Rogers actually takes code off the phone so that it's harder to root or unlock. I had to factory reset and use an at&t software instead of Rogers. After that everything was easy. Use one click root or anything like it

I dont recall having any issues with rooting my phone back in the day. I recall being able to use superoneclick to get the job done on stock gingerbread.
Although if you are planning on installing a rom on your phone then root isnt required. Just flash CWM and then flash a rom. The roms come with root already installed on it.
I have tried super oneclick and it hang up at step 7 but maybe iam doing something wrong. I will try again later tonight. Thanks alot guys

It should work with your captivate. I used it to root mine and I did it on GB too.
Thanks guy i just got home and tried the latest version and it worked. Only thing is that when it roots it then my menus, and when i go to call some on run every slow. I un rooted it and it put everything back to normal. And ideas?

I used heimdal method front this post, was so easy I was kicking myself for not doing it earlier. I was 2.3.3 on robbers too.
PS I highly recommend cm10, i never imagined my i896 could run this fast.
I am trying to put cwm10 on it now but iam getting confused. What yo flash to it. look like everything is for i897 or has a different modem number so i don't know if i can flash it to my phone? At this point i was hoping that some that has a i896 phone on roger would post a link to the post that they used for there phone. But i may just have to try one i finded and.hope for the best.

i896 and i897 are almost identical with minor differences. You can use i897 roms on the i896 without any issue.

I have the rogers version, I've unlocked it to use Koodo as a provider and have also installed CM10 (runs beautifully!). They are the same phone, ours just does not say at&t at the top of it (Samsung instead). I never bothered with rooting, which was a waste of time anyhow... move on from Gingerbread and you wont look back, I swear!

So I'm a total newbie here... so I don't have to root to get ICS or JB on my Captivate with Rogers? How exactly? I looked at the Heimdall method, but I still don't really understand.

See TRusselo's Guide. It is up to date.

I used Superoneclick with both Froyo and Gingerbread stock Rogers versions and it rooted just fine. Just need to follow the instructions.
I think for Froyo you had to do some really stupid stuff, like plug it in and take it back out 2-3 times but other than that it always worked great.
Worked so well I even made a donation to the developer.
If it hangs on you, I would suggest reading the thread to see if somebody developed a method that works. My Froyo image wouldn't root so I read the Rogers captivate thread and somebody posted telling me how to unplug and plug it back in, worked well.
I think I might have screwed up... I installed the unzipped ROM onto my external SD rather than the zipped one... what do I do now???
Can you get into recovery?

I am on the "ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.0 SpeedMod ULFK" page. I'm wondering if there's any way I can copy the zip files to my external SD from here?
In that recovery go to mounts and storage. Then select mount usb. Then u can copy from ur pc to ur phone.

Boot Animations?

Well after being on ios for 2 years its safe to say im new to the rooting scene on android. Regardless i am rooted and am running the latest synergy rom on my vzw gs3. I understand boot animations dont usually work on my device. How could i go about getting them to work. The developer told me it is possible to get them working. Thanks in advance!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
On stock, it's not exactly a breeze. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1829363
I am using synergy 1.2? Whatever the latest version of the rom is thats what im on.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Synergy is based on stock and as such is subject to the same restricitions in this case. See the thread I linked.
Oh ok. I'll give you a thanks when i get on my desktop. Idk how to on this app. Also just for future reference are there any roms with non stock kernals? Sorry if my terminology is wrong.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
This phone hasn't had what you might call a normal development cycle. New kernels are just starting to come around since the bootloader just got unlocked. I know of one stock based kernel right now. See here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31329-kerneltouchwiz-leankernel-minimalistic-kernel-819-v022/
YOU WILL NEED TO UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER FIRST. There's an app in the market for that.
