Hi everyone!
I'm stuck at fastboot screen with low battery, no recovery and no rom installed because everytime I want to flash a firmware I get some kind of error.
Can anybody help me to charge the phone so I can try flash a recovery? I tried with wall charger but it doesn't work. With usb cable it says it's charging but it still remains with Low Battery.
Please somebody help me
Plug it into the charger
Hold the VOL DOWN key
While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
The Fastboot screen will display, and charging should be indicated.
If you have tried the above and it didn't work, try this:
Plug in the phone for 15 minutes.
Proceed to Step 2 above.

Hey I have done this before and just tried it again after the following scenario:
this morning, charged battery with phone off to 100%,,,
powered on, left plugged in charging,,,
did some things on phone,,,
unplugged from charger,,,
did some things ,,,
battery charge was at about 96% started playing hillclimb racing,,,
played maybe 3-10 minutes,,, and during the game it pops up with the dreaded "battery low... shutting down..."
plugged in showed about 5%,,,
did the vol down power ~2 minutes
into fastboot chose recovery, then choose power off
now battery shows 55% right away...
what gives?
I guess holding the buttons clear the battery.bin stats?
.
This is a known bug and should be fixed if you are able to upgrade to 4.4.4, or better yet flash the full 4.4.4 firmware image.

I saw that from your other post right after I posted this and I have read about it several weeks ago,,,

Was more curious to what gets cleared by holding those buttons..?

Custom ROMs won't include the fix afaik. Unless someone deliberately adds it.

The official Motorola forum post is all I know, but a dev will have to investigate it at some point. Motorola might be willing to assist.

Hey guys,
My phone shut off unexpectedly today and now won't turn back on. When I try to power it on I see the Google logo for a couple seconds and then it'll just shut off again. I tried holding the volume up/down buttons to access the bootloader, but right after I get to the screen it just restarts itself again.
Connecting to power (AC or USB) causes it to constantly reboot over and over, it just shows the Google logo for a couple seconds and then restarts again.
Any ideas on what I can do?

Provide more information for a starter - stock? unlocked bootloader? rooted? third party recovery? rom and if yes which?
If it's stock I'd RMA it.
If not what did you do immediately before the problem started?
try holding the power button for > 2 seconds which should turn it off completely, leave it on a wall charger for at least a couple of hours then turn it back on - I doubt it'll fix the problem but it's a simple thing to try...

Everything on it is stock, no ROM, not rooted. I had just taken it out of my pocket to check the time, put it back in my pocket and then felt it vibrate, took it back out to see it at the Google logo and haven't been able to get it started since. There was one or two times when it got past the Google logo and started to show the start up animation (the four colours bouncing around or whatever it is) but then it shut off again.
I tried holding the power button to completely turn it off, but plugging it into the wall charger just causes it to repeatedly attempt to boot like I mentioned earlier. I'll leave it for a while and hope for the best
Sounds like the mobo is bad. Most likely will have to rma it.

Maybe not. Sounds like a stuck power button to me.
OP does the phone just endlessly repeat this cycle? If so it's rebooting itself do to a stuck power button. One other users already reported similar issues and his power button was indeed stuck. Mash the power button hard for a minute to see if you can unstick it.

Thanks so much, really wasn't looking forward to waiting for weeks while the RMA went through. The button didn't appear to be stuck - it was still clicky - but after mashing it for a minute it started up normally and appears to be fine now.

brother the issue is gone, as mentioned "sticky power button" was causing it. read the thread before posting. btw thanks for effort anyway... haha
:laugh::silly:
Hi all. Sorry to reopen an old thread (but xda suggested I check here before making my own thread).
I think we have the exact same problem with a Nexus 5. Unfortunately, bashing the power button doesn't seem to be helping (and makes me feel slightly silly .
Anyone know how much effort it would be to take it apart to get to the part that's stuck? Any good instructions?
Thanks.
Weird, I have the same issue starting a few hours ago. I updated to the Oct 17 beta of Cataclysm then a hour later it happened. But was told it sounds like the power button issue.
Took it apart, tried to fix it. If plugged in I can get into the bootloader, but then it reboots again. I've tried tapping it on a hard surface, and it gets seems like it almost fixes it because it'll connect to my laptop but then reboots again.
Could it be the battery? It was fully charged but then died as I was deleting hundreds of photo's in Dropbox to move photo's over from my phone because it was full.
I too am running into this same issue. My screen cracked so I replaced the digitizer with some success. In the process I damaged the battery and needed to replace it. When I got the new battery and replaced it my phone is now unusable.
When unplugged: I turn on the phone and it's running the ANDROID animation then turns off.
When plugged in: I turn on the phone, the ANDROID animation runs then the phone restarts and continues the process over and over again.
I then flashed the phone with Marshmallow and the same thing happens. Except now that I flashed it I get the Android icon with the spinning gear. So; I flashed it back to 5.1.1, but the same result.
Could I have physically damaged something inside or is it a battery issue? Thanks for any insight.
Hey, I really hope someone can help me with my phone. A few weeks ago my phone got stuck and shut by itself and since then it has been working alternately until the beginning of this week when it wouldn't turn on. What happens is that the device gets stuck (freezes for 1-2 seconds and then reboots itself) and when it tries to boot back it hangs on the google logo or get stuck on the boot animation. If I wait some time (10-20 minutes) the phone will boot and work untill it gets stuck again and refuse to turn on and so forth. I flashed the system image and also did a factory reset. Thats why I think it's probably a hardware problem.
Did anyone come across this or know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

Thanks for your reply,
It's very unlikely because of the way it freeze, the way it wouldn't turn on, I also took it apart and saw no reason to belive the power button was faulty (feels quite clickable).
Even if the button is clickable does not mean it is not a power button issue. If you have a multimeter, you could check it.
Could also be a battery issue?
The bootloader remains unlocked after rebooting into fastboot? Tried various stock Roms? Flashed userdata.img file when flashing a stock rom?

The battery is quite new, I actually replaced it myself, but even connecting back the old one didn't show any change so no signs of life there. I'm not sure how can I check the button, isn't it plastic? And yeah I flashed the images as they appear in google site.
You can use a multimeter to test the contact points. The power button works by momentarily complete the circuit or creating a temporary short. There should be three solder points near the power button.
It reboots on kk too?

I will try to test the multimeter and report back. I flashed kitkat and it rebooted as well. Thanks for the help!
It's very likely the power button issue. My Nexus 5 was exactly like this (Boot into Google logo/bootloader repeatedly ). I replaced the power button on the motherboard and it works perfectly fine now.
Hi,
i update my Galaxy S7 today with the new DBT-Firmware. I follow a Tutorial in which you can update a rooted Phone with flashify it without loss any data. Also the TWRP works still great after this. I did this with the last Firmware few weeks ago and it works great.
Today it works great also, everything was perfect. Than a last step: I flash the the bootloader seperately in odin. i did this the last time too and it works well. but not at this time.
After Bootloader flash, the device stays in the first Screen with Samsung Logo, i cannot go to Download Mode or Recovery. I tried a USB-Jig, but it changes nothing. The only thing you can do now is, to make a Reset with Power+Volume Down. Than the screen goes black for a second and it shows the Samsung Logo Screen again.
bad thing is: I cant turn off the device!
i remove the SIM and the SD-Card, but no reaction.
Anybody an idea? The battery was half loaded, so maybe it takes a while, before it will shutdown itself.
Mhhh, that's a bad day, i fear. But iam an Idiot, it was the Bootloader-Flash at the end, before that everything was perfect.
Maybe anybody can help me, that were great.
And sorry for my bad english.
Thanks,
Jan

No. Iam holding it about a Minute, a few times, nothing happends.
Iam still at the first screen with the logo.
There is a hacky method to remove the back and get to the battery
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1naej9BnfM
But it will no longer be waterproof
I can't think of any way to power off the phone if holding power does nothing
Have you tried resetting it with the USB Jig inserted?

thanks for the link, but i think before i remove the backcover, i better will bring it to repair first. i got an official samsung repair center in my town.
by the way: it was the bootloader from the latest official firmware (G930FXXU1BPH6, DBT-Version).
i cannot explain to myself, what happend i done all this a few weeks ago with the last firmware without any problems.

If you had 50% battery left, and it's just sitting on the Samsung logo, it might take days to run out
50% battery on idle with the phone booted into Android will last a day or two on its own, just on the logo is like ultra power saving mode

Found this, try holding power and volume down & up together for safe mode (Might not work if it's stuck on the logo, but worth a try)
---
Okay. This morning my S7 would not turn off, its not the edge, but basically the same phone.
You must hold down the power, the volume up and down all at the same time for about 15 seconds. (All 3 buttons).
It will go into safe mode. In the safe mode screen hit the volume button down a few times until it moves to restart.
Click the power button, as "enter" and the phone will restart.
It did a restart and I tried again to turn it off and this time, it did work. I will keep you all updated if I have any more issues.

Does Smart Switch see it?
All this is unlikely due to where it is stuck, at the logo, you shouldn't have been able to kill download mode is the thing, that is part of the hardware, nothing to do with the ROM, you 'should' always be able to enter download mode if you hold Volume Down & Home & Power at boot, not sure why it's freezing at the logo before that point
With the S5 there was an unbrick image you flashed to a MicroSD card, put that in the phone, and that took you to download mode where you could recover the phone
See if there is the same thing for the S7, I'm not sure
ok, after the phone shut down itself, i was able to go to the download mode. but only on first try. when it boots normally, it stuck again on that logo an i must wait again until it goes off itself.
flash it than in download mode with latest firmware in odin with 4 parts. power from the usb was enough to stay it on.
now it seems ok, back on latest firmware.
what a hell of an evenig, need a beer right now
You can switch your phone off with the 3 key pressing and holding (vol+, vol-, power) but your phone needs to be connected to power otherwise it will reboot.

yes, iam happy now, seems to work fine.
i think it was because the new bootloader don't work with the twrp version that was installed.
on the twrp page there is a new version especially for this firmware. it was published yesterday and i didn't see it.
so i think, after flash the new bootloader over the old twrp it chrashed the whole system.

Hello,
Ive tried to look for a similar situation in other thread but each case is different so i open a new one.
This morning, when i took my idol 3 the screen did not switch off when pressing power button. I thought it was battery but when i plugged charger, nothing happened except the led is on continuously. I kept power button pressed for 10 seconds. The phone vibrates shortly but still a black screen, no sound and no reaction from the touch panel. Power+vol+ did not led me to my twrp recovery. What can i do now to get it work again? The phone is rooted with Rom Eu 4.2 from murigny64 and it is the first time i encounter this issu. Thanks in advance for helping me
Tonight i disconnected the battery for about 30min then connect it again. Then i tried to start in recovery: Just a vibration but no display and no sound. I unplugged/plugged the battery again and try to start. Same problem. What the hell could happen? Maybe a deffective hardware
Insist on boot ( normal or in to recovery with vol + and power).
That is a hardware brick.

Can be, can be to... To bad if is battery.
But still trying to boot, is very difficult to.
.
thank you for advise but it's still not working. I spend about 30 minutes trying different combination of button: power pressed until it vibrate, power+vol up, power+vol down, power+vol up & down, discontinuous press of power with charger and no charger....and so on. Its a complete failure.
If it is the battery, there was no sign of weakness before (short life, random shutoff, ....) . It happen suddenly: I lock my screen before sleeping and the next morning no way to switch it on again.
I thought I would avoid problems for long with a twrp recovery, a backup and adb tools on my pc.....but for hardware issues its useless.
How can I be sure it is battery before purchasing another one ?

If it was the screen the touch panel would work and i could sense vibration when typing the pin code no?
The led bright continuously when i plug instead of flashing slowly as it used to do when charging. That why i think its battery.
...and when i start in recovery the phone is not detected on my pc
That's hardware brick. Don't give up, try to boot, normally or in recovery, keep trying it will boot.

Therefore the back can be dismantle and we can access battery and that s what i did.
Yes i disconnected it for several hours and pluged it again but it gave me the same result. And now it doesnt vibrate anymore when i keep the power button pressed a while.
I purchased a battery on internet and im waiting for delivery to test if im right or not. Il feedback about the test.
Anyway its nice from you to look for any solution. Thanks

Hello,
I received the new battery today.
So i unpacked it, i unplugged the old one and plugged the new one ...and guess what happened......the same bevahiour as with the old battery: when i press the button power, it vibrate but it doesnt start neither in recovery nor in normal mode.
I just precise that the new battery is charged at 50%........:crying:
So the problem is not the battery but it was the only thing i could test by myself before sending the phone to alcatel for repair.
Im still wondering what could happen to my idol 3: It had been woking perfectly for months and one morning with no warning, it refuse to switch on. Ok sorry for annoying us and hope it wont happen with yours.
I hope alacatel will apply the guarantee although the phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked....because its a hardware issue i think.
Hello,
Just to conclude. The phone got back from repair after 10 days. They have changed motherboard, battery and also the back that was damaged. Its a brand new phone .
I just purchased the 6x and I was going to root and get some stuff done before getting it setup for a relative.
However, i screwed up the twrp recovery flash and messed it up. I've found the directions to get it back on track, however I can't charge it enough to actually let the recovery run. The battery is dead and when i plug it into the charger it just keeps turning back on and sticking at the "Your Device is booting now". I've attempted holding the power button down to force it to shutoff, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
Anyone else run into this issue and managed to get past this problem?
You can try pressing the up volume + power. Also you can try down volume + power. Also you can press all 3 buttons and keep them held down. Hopefully one of those combinations can help you. Else you will have to let the phone battery completely die (overnight) and then plug the charger in.

Unfortunately I've done all of these options. Letting it drain over night is what got me into this situation actually. I can get myself into fastboot to follow the instructions I have, install the boot/recovery/system images. And can even get the boot for installing update.app to start, but from what i can tell it doesn't have the juice it loses power and shuts down. then when it gets just a enough juice, it automatically turns back on and sits at the "booting now" screen.
Are you sure you held down the power button long enough? Try holding it for 5 minutes straight and dont let go no matter what
I am not sure what else to suggest to you, will wait for one of the more experienced members to chime in. You may have to physically open the phone and disconnect the battery if nothing else works. And that is not an easy job if you look on YouTube to replace the battery on this phone takes at least an intermediate level of skill with micro-electronics.
All I can tell you is to please not lose hope. I had a situation 3 or 4 days ago where I had FRP lock on and nothing I tried worked and I was ready to sell the phone on eBay for $50 and cut my losses but the older members of this forum helped me and after hours of frustration I finally have a working phone again. If worse comes to worse comes to worse than your final option will be to try to get service from Huawei, maybe lie to them and say that you accepted ota update and that the Huawei update caused all the problems. Or better story than that: Tell them you where mugged at the Mall and thief stole your phone but then 3 days later you saw the same thief again at another Starbucks and confronted the thief and took your phone back again. But it appears the thief must have tried to flash TWRP or something because now phone is messed up. Maybe they will believe that. Haar-Haarr
But that is a worst case scenario, probably it wont come to that. My phone was doing the same thing as yours, I forget what I did to interrupt it from rebooting on its own. But really all you can do is try a combination of the buttons and hope the dang phone will finally just power off. Its too bad you cannot boot into TWRP and select POWER OFF
Try booting into eRecovery. Plug your device to the charger and turn the phone on. When you're on the bootloader warning, press and hold Vol+ button until it boots. eRecovery should let you to charge your device. It also has a battery indicator.
BTW, don't forget to download your phone firmware. It may be necessary for fixing your phone if you messed up an important partition.

I can't seem to get to recovery.
After working on it more yesterday, i'm not entirely convinced it is the battery causing me the issues. After flashing the .img files in fastboot, i can sometimes get it to start recovery (both volume buttons and power) and it will start installing the update but it stalls and reboots at 5%. Based on what i've read on the other threads, this has to do with not getting the right firmware matched from what as on there before. Problem is i jumped so quickly into unlocking the bootloader and trying to root i never paid attention to my build number in the OS to know what to flash back to. I've tried multiple TeamMt firmware search website, as well as the official one from Huawei.
