Anyone sucessfuly unlock a Moto G (Falcon) bootloader in the last few days? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Seems like there are a few cases, myself included, of unlock codes supplied by Motorola not being able to unlock the device on the Motorola forums. My phone is eligible for an unlock code and I am able to get one from Motorola but when I enter in "fastboot oem unlock #######" it comes up as invalid password. I've tried copy it from the email into notepad and entering it manually but it doesn't work. Not sure if this is relevant but I have already done a carrier unlock on the phone which was originally on Telus. Just wondering if anyone has had success lately?

Indian moto g bootloader.!
i unlocked my XT1033 just few days ago....
the process in the cmd (while unlocking) showed "FAILED"..
but still my phone was continuously showing a blue coloured "unlock...."written on the screen so i press the power button and the device suddenly displayed bootloater unlocked warning and i also got superuser access afterwards......
but now i am able to run "root only" apps....
HOWEVER gamecih doesn't work..it just displays "the system deny to root!!"..
:fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:
DON"T know what really HAPPENED!??

I unlocked the bootloader of my Moto G XT1033 just a few days back. The code worked perfectly.

Keep trying the code manually; never cut and paste.

I tried again a few time this morning on a different computer, still no luck. It is very frustrating.
Could someone who has successfully unlocked their TX1032 on 4.4.4 please post their "fastboot getvar all" output?

I can't even get an unlock code. Hitting submit gives me a HTTP 500 Internal error on IE, and just blank screens on Firefox and Chrome.

Look for a post asking you to join the MFN (feedback network). There is a solution being seeded there.

Hi! Too can not unlock the bootloader on your Moto G XT1033. When you unlock the inscription went incorrect password. Many say the problem with the server Motorola. Surely in such a serious company can not solve this problem? Maybe someone knows when they will earn the server?

A quote from one of the moderators on the Motorola forums:
"For a fix for the Password incorrect issue encountered on 4.4.4 Moto G, please join the Motorola Feedback Network. (Last post of this thread) and let Matt know to add you to the seeding for the updated bootloader. This is unfortunately not a server side issue, but a bug in the bootloader on G 4.4.4. (not present in 4.4.2 or previous release)."
You will have to register your device there and opt in for the Motorola Feedback Network. You must also register your device by entering your IMEI. I think with all of the recent price drops on the Moto G they are really backed up. I am currently still waiting for my new unlock code.

The problem will be resolved because the mod there helped me to unlock mine but I can't disclose more. Just be patient

I believe that the fix is only in the testing phase and rather then release it into the wild and potentially have a ton of bricked phones come back they choose to release to a few people who agreed to the risks. That being said I now have an unlocked bootloader and am running the stripped down version on the stock 4.4.4 rom with Faux kernel and it is so much better. Check on post in the General section for more info.

New recovery for android 4.4.4 which solves black screen issue
This is just to inform all those who got their phones with 4.4.4 pre-installed and were suffering from black screen when booted into recovery.
A new version of Philz recovery is released by its maintainer for moto G , which is compatible with the newest bootloader or baseband ( whatever )
Just go to Phil'z recovery and download the latest version ( only 6.57.5 or above )

[Q][solved] device not avaiable unlock bootloader

Hello, my moto g is a locked bootloader, if I change the rom it, I'll get it unlock?
You have to unlock the bootloader first from here if you have a Moto G https://motorola-global-portal.cust...e/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a/action/auth.
Yea in order to install a ROM you have unlock the bootloader, and no installing a custom ROM won't unlock it you have to use the site above to unlock it. If you have a phone locked to any tariff like T-Mobile you won't be able to unlock it even if you unlock the Sim due to the addictions in the software and you will get a message "device not available" or something like this. So you can use guides available on the internet to solve this.

You can`t flash anything if you have a locked bootloader, not even a factory image and certainly not a custom rom. What is the problem on the Motorola site, could you post a screenshot when you try unlocking the bootloader via that site?

Well I haven`t unlocked my Moto (and probably won`t) but maybe you could try following this tutorial to the letter http://xperiahtcrootingrom.com/unlock-motorola-moto-g-bootloader/ or else Google around for users with your similar issue.
thanks for the support, I'll try this link.
wrap your head after a bit I decided to risk it all, I had a rom americamovil br ( claro Brazil ), this did not allow unlock the bootloader, so I installed the fastboot one retail rom Brazil, and yes I got this unlock the bootloader , noting that the risk of losing the IMEI is great, so think carefully before deciding to do the process.

[Q] Moto G Play Edition, Bootloader unlocked or locked

I know that you can go to Motorola's site to unlock the bootloader on the Motorola version of Moto G. Does the Google Edition of the G automatically come with an unlocked bootloader? Several sources have different specs. Engaget reports that the Google version comes with an unlocked bootloader, a few other sources say no. Can anyone clear this up for me, I just ordered my Google Play edition because my area has the new 1900mhz coverage.
Update: Here is Engaget's quote" Lastly, the Google Play edition will come with an unlocked bootloader straight out of the box, in case you prefer to play around with different ROMs. (You can technically unlock the bootloader on the original G, but you have to go through the proper steps to do it.) I will get mine today, and report back with the results.
I would think it is locked?
My nexus 4 from the play store had a locked bootloader.

GPE devices don't come with a unlocked bootloader. But all it takes is one simple command line to unlock it.

You're thinking of Nexus devices. GPe's still need to go through their respective manufacturer to unlock the bootloader. Like the HTC One GPe. You could unlock the bootloader, but you still needed to go through HTC's Dev site to do it.
No you don't. The regular HTC One needs to go through HTC Dev (like you do with the G) but the GPe One works with just 'fastboot oem unlock', no token or anything.
Does the Moto G Play Store Edition show the same warning if the Bootloader is unlocked when powering on?
It's probably have a open padlock on bootup like the others
is there any real difference on these two devices aside from how the bootloader is unlocked?

Hello,
The bootloader on the Moto G play store edition is unlockable simply with the $ fastboot oem unlock command. You do not need an unlock code from the motorola web site to unlock it. You do need to read and agree on to the disclaimer on device.
After unlock, the experience is akin to the nexus experience, and the power-on screen will just show the "Unlocked" icon (open keylock)
Thanks

so the method for flashing roms and everything is identical afterwards? no messing about flashing kernel via pc like with htc devices?
So if the GPE version can be unlocked without any token it would be fine if we could use the GPE Bootloader on the normal Moto G and make a backup of the existing one. Would this help us to make a workaround for the warranty problem? Is this possible?
Should be, yes. As long as a complete image comes out for the GPe.
They've done it on the HTC One.

But that was a HTC decision not a Google one in guess, however, hope this theory will become practicable.
It is itching in my fingertips to unlock since i have this device ( exactly 1 week). Now i'll wait definitely longer.
Curious to know what comes up.
What I mean is that users of the HTC One users have the option to use the GPe bootloader, thanks to S-OFF.
With the G you can flash other firmwares without unlocking as long as they're signed, so it should install no trouble (as long as an image is found).

Update: I just got my Moto G Play Edition, first..I love it. upgrading from a Galaxy S II, much better display, works great. The bootloader is locked.
Here is an update from Engaget: Update: it turns out that the Google Play edition's bootloader is just like the standard version -- it's unlockable, but not unlocked directly out of the box.
I will wait a few months to see if other Roms come out for the "G" before I unlock the bootloader and root the phone.

[Q] AIO Wireless Moto G Bootloader Unlock Issues - Resolution?

I'm really liking the Moto G after having picked one up the other day from AIO Wireless.
I was able to use the Ebay link that was posted here to get the SIM lock taken care of and now I'm wanting to get the Bootloader unlocked so I can proceed with Recovery, ROM, etc.
When attempting to use the Motorola site to unlock the Bootloader it says that "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking"
My guess is that AIO (AT&T MVNO) has worked with Motorola to prevent the unlocking so as to prevent custom ROMs which would allow for tethering, etc.
Are there any other solutions available? Anyone here using an "AIO" version of the Moto G and able to get this sorted out?
THANK YOU!!

Hoping that the community can help or that someone on here would have an idea of how to step past this.

I know I know, this post sounds like an ad for the site but it really isn't. I am interested in trying this but I want confirmation that this site works before I throw any money at it. If you try it let us know your results.

I have the same problem
hopefully someone is going to help us
I have heard it mentioned that you can temporarily root the ATT/AIO/Cricket XT1045 on Android 4.4.4, but not permanently (yet). I have no idea how, though.
Can someone help us out?
I had an hour or so long talk with an AT&T employee who actually knew what they were talking about. I believe due to restrictions in ATT tech chat, he was unable to post either links or straight out tell me how to do it, but he said that it is very possible.
Perhaps people should try logging into their AT&T account and using the tech chat to see what someone can come up with.
Has any progress been made on this? I have XT1045 from Cricket Wireless (owned by AT&T) and the bootloader is not unlockable using the conventional method.

OK. Here I go. Sorry I'm kind of new to XDA. I too have a xt1045 and I just unlocked the boot loader and I too am on ATT.
I bought my phone from Motorola unlocked, idk if ATT or cricket or whatever carrier sells them unlocked too. That may affect bootloader unlocking since you may need an unlocked device to see unlock boot loader.
Now down to the bootloader code.
Make sure you are copying the code correctly from the command prompt. I think the first time I tried to unlock bootloader, I may have copied wrong or something like that. Also, I have heard reports of people retrying, have their devices verified, and getting a code to unlock bootloader. Hopefully that is the case for you guys and unlocking is a viable option.
Hope I helped
Feel free to ask me question about unlocking the bootloader.
I haven't rooted yet and I am getting ready for that.
FYI: you we're able to unlocked your bootloader only because you purchased your device directly from Motorola. The rest of us who purchased from a carrier are F*CKED.
