fb chat is really annoying, it shows me online all the tile can't put it off.
When i chat with som1 the messeged are delayed or arrive in wrong order. do i need to reinstall the app?
I'm not rooted, is there already a good way to s-off, root.
i'm kinda noob in this, thanks alot
and i have no xtc-clip
just heard i can unlock the bootloader with HTC-dev. after that i'm able to root...
Problem is i have never worked with skd, adb.. I don't really know what could go wrong if i just follow a guide and don't know what i'm doing.
Should i just try and see what happens?

Go to htcdev.com and follow the instructions to unlock your bootloader
You'll need software version 1.54 or higher tho, you can check in Menu>Settings>About Phone>Software Information
If you have a lower version than 1.54, than you need to update with this RUU:
swtesting.ro/alex/downloads/ruu_chacha_htc_asia_wwe_1.57.707.2_radio_47.23.35.3033h_7.51.35.19_release_228383_signed.zip
To update with this RUU, you'll need a goldcard:
theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
..then you are good to go with htcdev unlock
After that, search "everything for chacha" in the forum and you'll find instructions how to easily root your chacha I know it's long winded, but it's worth it

I found it annoying too, I uninstalled it
In the meanwhile, going into facebook chat and clicking "Menu>Go Offline" is a temporary fix until you reboot
thanks alot, i will try to unlock today.
Once unlocked ill try a simple root program. (zroot or something like that) if that doesn't work ill follow a guide for the long way.

No problem I found an easier goldcard guide here if you're interested http://droid-den.com/android-guides/android-guide-how-to-create-a-gold-card/
I just flashed superuser in clockwordmod recovery, and I had root
Rooting is dead simple, just the unlocking which takes longer to do
If you need any help, I've done it, so ask away
hey everyone. i just grabbed a bnib one s off of craigslist that has been locked to a different carrier then i use. when i paid a website for the unlock code from the imei they said they couldnt do it and refunded my money. when i asked why they said the code hadnt been posted by the manufacturer and that i should wait a few weeks. when i googled this i found something that said manufacturers dont usually produce unlock codes until phones have been on the market for 3 weeks.
seeing as how the one s has been out for months, could this mean the actual phone needs to have been released for over 3 weeks?
big thanks to ferraripassion at www.htccode.com, he was able to get my unlock code when 3 other websites failed. the code was also emailed to me almost immediately. hes much faster, and has much better service then the other websites i tried. if anyone ever needs unlock codes, or is having trouble finding theirs either pm him, or visit his website. his site also has an imei checker so you can verify he has your code before you bother paying and dealing with refunds like the other sites.

Have you taken a look at the thread SIM Unlock for FREE
yes ive read that. my problem with that is:
i recently bought a bnib one s that was unlocked, it worked fine for a few weeks then got stuck in a bootloop without being modified or rooted. i could not enter the recovery and factory reset didnt work. i unlocked the bootloader and attempted to install an aftermarket recovery and it also wouldnt load. installing a ruu also wouldnt fix the problem. when i tried to get it warrantied htc wouldnt cover it because i unlocked the bootloader.
now that ive bought my 2nd one s, im going to use it for a month or 2 before i bother unlocking the bootloader. hopefully a 1 or 2 month grace period will be enough to weed out any potential defects.
i tried another unlocking site htcsimunlock.com, they also couldnt find the code, however they have access to htcs company database and said they have a 99 percent change of unlocking it for an extra 15 bucks. im gonna give them a try.

Oh yeah, you can root the phone without unlocking the bootloader using this tool.
https://dl.dropbox.com/s/koi38l3uve546rs/Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17.zip?dl=1
Turn on USB debugging on your phone and run the script on your computer.
Press 1 for normal
Then on your phone press "restore my phone"
Then wait for it to finish.
After that use the unlocking guide.
That will keep your warranty intact since HTC will have no trace of your phone on their servers.
thats awesome! when was that released? i was hoping thered be a way to get around unlocking the bootloader.
is it possible to load custom roms or change cid with that or do you still need to unlock the bootloader for that?
deep search couldnt find my unlock code either, looks like ill try your method.

It came out sometime in September it just no one really knows about it around here (One S forums). I think you can change CID without unlocking the bootloader but I'm not sure. I know how to unlock the bootloader without using HTC dev also but I need to test a little more.
for some reason the rooting program isnt working. ive tried running it from cmd with admin rights, click 1, click restore my data on phone, it restarts for a few min script says its complete then it restarts and i dont have root. ive tried it 3 times now i dont know if im doing something wrong or what?
phone is in debug mode with allow 3rd party apps.
i also just noticed there is an error report ready on the phone. any ideas?

Strange I tried it today myself. I actually ran a RUU then the first thing I did was try it and it worked just fine. It added the app Super SU to my phone. That's root. Then right after I did it i checkd in adb shell and it dropped down to root no problem. My bootloader was still locked too.

From what I understand the way you get root is the script exploits a timed event in the adb backup/restore process. So maybe try it a couple times.

My script looked exactly like that. The phone rebooted twice and it was done. If your used to seeing the "Super User" app and your looking for that it won't be there this uses the "Super SU" app. They do the same thing.

i wouldnt say im exactly competent but i know a bit lol. ive flashed different roms on my tf101 i bought used that was already unlocked, and i am a bit familiar with looking threw scripts and running commands from using linux but ive never actually rooted a phone. but yeah this seems like a fairly basic process, i doubt there is much i could be doing wrong here.
super su is not installed, and has not installed in any of the attempts that i have noticed.
my phone is locked on fido in canada. maybe this has something to do with it?
do you remember if your phone popped up with the htc error report when it was all done? maybe there is some kind of programming from fido interfering with the script and causing the phone to reboot?
also when the phone reboots the first time and it tries to copy everything. mine doesnt completely load the home screen. my background loads but there are no apps on the screen and the launcher bar at the bottom is missing. i can however pull down the top menu and load into settings.
on a side note, have you seen this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913729 any idea if it would work with the one s?
i appreciate your help. theres probably not much you can help with but its nice to get some input from someone who knows more about this stuff. i posted on the forum page listing my problem so hopefully the developer of the script can figure something out.
hey l3ft3r1s were those errors posted in the script window or is there a log file that is exported somewhere? mine doesnt report any errors in the script window.

As i see you get the "Backup-Restore.apk' does not exist" also, but this shouldn't be the problem, if you get the "Restore" prompt on the phone.

That won't be an option for anyone that hasn't downgraded their hboot though. I thought I was pretty sure that I had all this wrapped up and just needed to write instructions.
Do you guys have the HTC drivers installed? I'm sure I'll be able to figure it all out it just might take another day or two.

Your carrier wouldn't matter. But it sounds like it created a problem with your stock ROM did I read that right? Also, it's my experience that the error report only shows up if you have the "security warning" flag in hboot and you are using a stock rom.
We can't depend on the Sprint HTC phone stuff that much. They have a SD card slot and we don't if you'd like to look else where then you want to look at the ATT HTC One X stuff. They use a modified version of the root exploit for their phone. I'm guessing that it worked for me becuase I had a lower hboot. I didn't think that would be an issue but it just might. I was going to test it tomorrow since if something goes wrong I know how to fix it. So you might want to hold off. But if you'd like I'll post the link.
If you guys move forward then you might get stuck having to unlock via HTC dev to restore. Which kinda defeats the point of trying all this. You might want to hold off another day or two.
yeah i have the drivers installed.
i dont really have an option at the moment, im not gonna unlock the bootloader just yet so ill go without . if you can figure it out thatd be wicked. i have a link to my ruu if you want to try it...

I think so. How do I confirm this? Either way I don't think this should be the problem, since I get a return to adb devices.
By the way, do all RUUs need downgraded hboot?

Easiest way is to just hit the button in the all in one toolkit. Not all RUU's need to downgrade the hboot. You can use an RUU that has a higher hboot (as long as your CID is compatable). So you can always use a RUU to upgrade but not to downgrade.

Yeah I read that too. Have faith.
Ok so my first M8 died so I had to get another one. This one came with 1.55.605.2 out of the box. Baseband 0.89.20.0321. The issue I am having is that every time I try and s-off it just sits there adding dashes at the bottom after I type yes and the message saying if Firewater hangs for more than 2 minutes...I have searched and haven't been able to find a solution. I did see where someone said to export the firewater file from his dropbox into the local folder and in adb start at the adb shell step. Did that or so I thought and that didn't work either. Maybe I'm not extracting the file as all I'm doing is downloading it and then copying and pasting. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I apologize if this has been asked before. I searched as much as I could and could not find a definitive answer. Thanks to everyone on XDA.

Yup. I enter adb devices and it recognizes the device. Everything seems to work fine until the last step after I type in Yes. Then it just sits there. It gives me the message "if firewater hangs for more than 2 minutes, press and hold power for 60 seconds" 3 times..Then just dashes and doesn't do anything else. Really confused on this one.

ok it worked on my att htc one x but you doing this at your own risk. there is no liability what so ever. YOUR OWN RISK.
ACTUALLY ITS SIMPLE.
ALL THE CREDIT GOES TO THE DEVS THAT SPENT LOTS OF TIME TO DEVELOP THE TOOLS USED HERE.
1. GO HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699091 and temporarily root your device. i had to do multiple reboots before the reroot actually worked.
2. then go here http://rumrunner.us/ and READ the instructions , i used the universal tool.
NOTE: the tool says to not touch your device but my temproot wasnt working at boot so when the tool reboots the phone as soon as the phone starts i was running the weaksauce app to regain root. ( U DONT HAVE TO DO THIS IF THE SCRIPT REROOTS YOUR PHONE AT START UP LIKE IT SUPPOSE TO. MINE WAS ACTING FUNNY SO I DID IT MANUALLY EVERYTIME IT RESTARTED THE SYSTEM.
NOW I HAVE S OFF AND UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER ON 5.18 SOFTWARE. ONE MORE TIME IF I HELPED U CAN PRESS THANKS BUTTON BUT THE CREDIT GOES TO THE DEVELOPER OF THIS TOOLS

Yes,that's Firewater. You're the first I've seen to get s off on 5.18 using anything. Sorry I should have been more specific but I was in a hurry. My most humble apologies
This worked for me as well i now have s-off

ok it worked on my att htc one x but you doing this at your own risk. there is no liability what so ever.

I did, I'm just not sure what it all means, if I follow his steps this should go smoothly is what I'm gathering.

Is there any risk in running the weaksauce app in between reboots while the rum runner process is working? Could anything potentially go seriously wrong with the phone if weaksauce returns the "root failure" message while rum runner is trying to work?

It can only make rummrunner fail if it can't get root access.

It worked! Thank you! FYI, I was completely stock/unrooted on the at&t One X and had taken the latest (5.18) OTA.
The only thing I would add is that I had to run weaksauce over and over on each reboot until it gave me the "root activated" message.
Wow glad to know someone else did this too !

Yes , i did the exact same thing and it works . I used weaksauce to get temporary access to root while i was running rumrunner , and it finally gave in . Good stuff by the developers. Sending my contribution and thanks to them soon !
Just breaking it down in case a newbie (like i was 3 days ago) can make his/her life simpler.
1. rumrunner works in most cases for HTC ONE X (AT&T , USA) version for getting S-OFF. But it needs root access. One way to try and do this is to get WeakSauce installed on your phone (i also installed SuperSU from the app store) .
2. Now once u start executing rumrunner , make sure you use weaksauce to get super user access . Rumrunner will reboot ur machine ,and sometimes weaksauce did not work on my phone after a reboot , and in such cases i manually ran the app on the phone (though rum-runner says no). This lets rumrunner continue and get your phone to S-OFF successfully.
3. Once rumrunner reports that its done (pouring..followed by something that suggests its done, cant remember what , right now), you will get S-OFF on your device ( reboot into bootloader by pressing vol down +power) and check the status.
4. After this you can do anything you want ! like install cyanogenmod (cyanogenmod evita , i run cm11 snapshot 10)
And these developers are awesome ! Also @grigoriisii , sorry if this looks like im hijacking the thread , just trying to give a bit more details for the lazy one/newbie checking the last post

guys i want to root my phone on the fast and very simple way possible.
found this root method on https://autoroot.chainfire.eu
this is the link for the root method https://download.chainfire.eu/982/C...Auto-Root-heroqltetmo-heroqltetmo-smg930t.zip
i did not tryed it my self yet. but if theres a user that rooted their phone that way, let me know.
bump
I don't think this will work unless we get our Bootloader unlocked (which hasn't been done yet as far as i know)
UNLOCK BOOTLOADERS
If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device - with the exception of Nexus devices, which will usually automatically "OEM unlock" and wipe your data !
this is kind of lame.... why chainfire release a auto root if the thevice have bootloader locked down? and onlockable?
Confused myself
I want to say root is possible, there are tons of sites with instructions: https://www.google.com/search?q=SM-...i57j0j69i60.9343j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Of course, XDA doesn't seem to have a specific G930T thread for rooting with instructions, then see threads like this today. I was all set to give it a try, but unsure if should proceed...
Did find this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7/help/sm-g930t-root-doesnt-void-warranty-t3415936
EDIT: so the one linked in original comment was the bleeding edge root process and seems like had a really high failure rate. Most current I've seen is: http://lifeatsamsung.com/root-t-mobile-galaxy-s7-sm-g930t-2/
Seems a little more clean cut and easy. I'll edit again if I find a newer solution or at least commentary on success/fail
In comments OP posts:
Yes I am planning to make a video tutorial.
Also I used the method provided here (this is Max Lee's website)

So the solution and all the fixes, etc is right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
Worked for me, no problem. Even installed the debloated, deox'd ROM. Unfortunately after root you will need to follow rest of guide, otherwise you will see some lag issues.
On the other side of it, phone is great, fast, if not faster than before, and got root. Let me know if you would like some screenshots proving a TMO phone is rootable or if can answer any questions

I would like to see some screens that show it is rooted, yes. I am about to purchase tomorrow and would like everything in place before I do.
Thanks

So what does this mean in layman's terms. Can I root the device safely with full functionality or not? Are there plans to get a rooted bootloader? And what does this mean because I thought the TMO version had a qualcom processor...

This means that the only rooting method right now isn't as stable as it would be if it had a unlocked bootloader the root right now will cause some issues but they can easily be fix from some of the steps after rooting guides that are in the xda forums and yes it using a Qualcomm processor Witch is pretty much the snapdragon and there hasn't been any luck this past year of getting the bootloader unlocked for full and smooth rooting I'm really ****ty at explaining sorry if your still lost
The Chainfire method he released does NOT work. I'm not sure why he released it...maybe he knows of a future bootloader unlock that we don't know about.
@troby86 I see you have yours rooted. How did you accomplish this?

@troby86 OK, bought my S7 today. Trying Max Lee's root method. I can't get SU to inject using adb command. I have retried numerous times to include reflashing and system reset. Any thoughts?

@KillerClaw321 I am at the machine now and have tried running CMD in admin mode. Still no joy. What are the beat adb drivers to use for AMD machine? Maybe the drivers are the problem? What else can I try? I am on PK1 as the phone is new from the store yesterday and a fresh shipment to them the day before.
I also see a DM verification verify failed dialogue at the bottom when i try the factory reset. No DRK
