Hey, so recently I've seen quite a few good and useful advantages for rooting my phone but a few disadvantages if i did decide to root my device, I would go ahead with this process however I'm not sure where to go from here and if i should actually root my phone.
I have a HTC One Mini and I've got a few questions about rooting since I haven't really done it before just read about it and watched videos about it,
Some questions I have:
If I did decide to root my phone what would be the best way(e.g. the most trusted/popular tutorial for rooting etc) and where should I go from here?
If I did root it, what would be the chance of bricking it and actually breaking it fully to the point of no return?
If I did go and root it is there any way to revert back to a non-rooted device or will it be rooted forever if I do root it?
Is there anything else I would need to know before I did root it?
Thank you for reading.

Best way is too read the HTC One Mini > One Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > Frequently Asked Questions thread.
Q2 is about rooting.
You can find more useful information and guides in the HTC One Mini > One Mini General forum.
And if you have further questions, please ask in the HTC One Mini > One Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.

Bricking it would be a very miniscule chance. I doubt you would brick your phone because it only will happen if something just went AWOL.
As for unrooting possiblilities, It is possible. Don't know how you can unroot a HTC One Mini but im sure there is a easy way.

Just wanted to know since I'm coming over from the G2 and I want to go ahead and root the phone. Just got it today out of the box, do I need to downgrade anything before I follow the root instructions? The tutorial I found isn't very clear on that and I dont want to end up messing the phone up already.
If this helps you answer my question I've got.
Android Ver 2.3.4
HTC SENSE 3.0
no you don't need to downgrade anything
Thanks a lot bro.
I had a g2 plus 3 replacements rooted everyone trust me this is way easier. Plus no downgrade required. Just rooted my 4g slide
Nope. Our phone is pretty easy to s-off and root.
click my sig for extra help if you need it. From s-off to roming and everything inbetween!
so, i was wondering...
I would like to try the one click root method for my HTC One X provided with this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644167
but, i was wondering a couple of different things, and the answers are probably painfully obvious, but id rather not brick my brand new awesome phone.
1. is this rooting process permanent? if not what would be a way to return to stock AT&T unrootedness?
2. is coredroid compatible with this root?
once again, i apologize if the questions have been asked, or are too painfully stupid to answer. i am new, my bad.
I apologize if this has been poster and answered somewhere already. I've been searching for forums related to the S5 active and haven't had much luck.
I have rooted phones and tablets before, must recently my Tab S, so I'm not new to the root process.
I guess my first question is, would you recommend rooting this phone? And if so, what method would you suggest?
My next question is, what if any good custom roms are out there for this phone?
Thanks

It's all down to choice. If you're happy voiding the warranty on your device (Most people are here at XDA) to get more customisation and features then by all means go ahead and root. The guide here should help you obtain root on your device as it is for all variants of the S5.
As for ROMS for the S5 Active I would recommend looking at the S5 Unified development category and also keep searching on Google as since it is a "special edition" phone (By that I mean not the main device of the lineup) it will take longer for custom ROMs to be developed.

Thanks for the response! Voiding the warranty doesn't bother me, I was just unsure about the limited info I was finding. But now that I know where to look, I have everything I need. Thanks for the help!
If u wanna get most out of your phone than root is the first step to it. Otherwi se learn to be satisfied with the present performance of the phone.
Root it so that you'll be able to increase you devices performance. And for the custom roms, maybe try cyanogenmod.
Hello, i decided it was time to root my 16gb D802 G2. i am newly registered though i have been reading the forums regularly and even have stock rooted my phone because lg being lg. Despite that, i was at complete loss when i head down custom roms and i dont know where subforum ask about the "best" lp rom for my phone.
So i wonder if maybe you could point me to where i can find terminologies and in which subforum i should post my previous question.
Also as far as i know there is no way to brick your phone without a way to recover, still if there is an irrecoverable brick it would be nice to know more about it. Thx for your time
Hello there, thank you for using XDA Assist.
HERE is a list of terminology and all you need to know about root and android words. HERE is your rooting guide for your device, or basically a compilation of youtube videos to root any variant of your phone. and HERE is where you usually ask your device related questions.
Hope i helped! Happy rooting!
If i root my u11 can i still manually download the latest updates? Is it worth it to root my phone or should i just keep it this way. Please help
Can anyone help please?
Read carefully this, if you understand go ahead and root, if not keep it this way.
PS. this really should be in Q&A.
