Best rom? - Galaxy Note 3 General

I know there's no correct answer. I'm new to Samsung as I've had Motorola for the past 5 years, Is the Note 3 unlockable? If so is the first link I posted still able to work for rooting the Note 3? Also what's the best rom as in sustainability and customization and battery life? I'd like to be able to customize as much as I can and be on 4.4.4 if possible. I'm also interested in something that doesn't have many problems or glitches. Thanks to anyone who helps.

For me . If u want stock look with mods and stuff there is crash rom ,if u want alot of customization , system ui and themes there is x-note but its thread closed for now

Well I was wanting a rom that is debloated, faster then stock, best battery saving stats, and very customizable with support. It's hard to find one on here because there's about a million different roms lol

I've seemed to like Omega rom. The only question I seem to have now is what's up with flashing kernals? I've never had to flash kernals before and I'm a bit clueless on them.

Mod Edit

Opinion: Which ROM are you using..??

Hi Guys,
Can we share / Suggest which ROM we are using..??
As we know Many questions will arise:
Q. 1) Why I made this thread..??
A. For sure, We can discuss here what features we are availing in which ROM.:good:
Q. 2) Who will be most beneficial for this thread..??
A. 2 .Specially Noobs / Newbies will come to know that Which ROM are suitable for them & why.
Just like me:
I am using Angeek ROM. Its Awesome in Battery Life. Using MIUI home launcher in it, looking like real one. But I am unable to flash Ardatdat's new kernels due to some changes done in this ROM.
Don't know what is in my Mind Now but I thought we should share our thoughts here.
This thread is not Made to Dominate our Dev's. If any Dev feels so then I can ask MOD to Close this one.
Also, Note that "You're sharing opinions, not facts." Any suggestion would be welcomed. :highfive:
Just something to keep in mind with threads like these, Vikesh:
This thread should not be used to 'advertise' any one Developer's products. I have no issue with the thread staying, provided this is the only one made, and that it's used by you guys to simply share what ROMs you're using. No links etc.
Posting what works for you is fine. Posting 'why would you use that crap' though, is most definitely not.
Remember, this is a subjective thread. You're sharing opinions, not facts.
Keep that in mind, and enjoy :good: I'll keep an eye out here, too.

Yeah u are rite games r much smoother in gb as compared to ics.
currently on BlueBerry ROM 1.2, found it very stable and with no major bugs. and right now really in Love with Sensation theme of BB (though there is no blue in this theme still it is called BB )
Since it is an opinion oriented thread, I would like to say few word about other ROMs which I have tried so far.
Mazel 2 : It felt very smooth with different animations and theming, though it had bugs but now it has been resolved.
Suggestion : Hoping Selva to release next ROM based on XXLQ9.
Angeeks : This ROM is very Powerful (Battery life :good::good, bug-free and smooth,
Suggestion : Make it kernel friendly and ability to update GAPPS via Play Store.

Using Stock Nordic ICS ROM (XXLQ9) with ardatdat 4.0 kernal...
I wanted to be stock completely coz currently this is my primary phone and i can't experiment/tests softwares on it but to avoid eMMC bug risk i've switched to ardatdat 4.0 kernal which is stock kernal without eMMC bug....
Issues i'm facing :
1. Battery backup is not as convincing as GB
2. Games like Temple run often lags.. i play this lot so a bit frustrated
3. Network reception seems bad compared to GB
4. Some other minor issues

its all right buddy. actually this thread is being watched by our great MOD "Justin". So, any comment which is not acceptable by him can close this whole thread. Thats why I said you buddy. I didn't mean that..Sorry If I hurt you..:crying:
I'm using TheFrankenstain mod 4.0.2 with some custom additions like BlueBerry mod or my kernel and I'm very satisfied with it.
MIUI is also very good, I really like it.
Mazel II: It drains my battery because of the nice animations and transitions, so I cannot use it as I don't bring my charger.
GS3: It has very good conception behind it and it's quite promising despite the fact that the gallery and music doesn't work. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have created a repack of it.

No opinion threads, flash different ones and see what's best for you. Also, this wouldn't even be the right section. This thread will probably be closed soon. Happy flashing!
Do you want customization?
Do you want stability?
Do you like sense or stock ics/jb?
Find out what you want in a Rom first. Each Rom here caters best to somebody.
Make a backup of what you have and flash away. Go back to what you had if you don't like what you install. That's the fun part.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Stock JB
I want slick, fast, and fun customization all the way form changing the boot logo sound to customizing the animation, and beyon dth at, a lot of good tweaks etc.
There is no "best" ROM. Everyone has different preferences, and uses their phones differently. Its like asking people what their favorite color is. They can give you an answer what they like. But it has absolutely no bearing on whether you will like it or not.
"Best ROM" threads are frowned upon here. This thread will be closed.

Your favorite Stock 4.2.1 ROM?

Hello all,
Been out of the game for a while, but with the S3, and the horrible OTA update that killed the S3, I'm back.
Did the root & recovery via this method: LINK
Now, I am looking for a ROM, thinking of just going with pure stock, without bloatware BS. What is the favorite, stable ROM out these days? (Just reading up on all of them now, just looking for overall favorites these days.)
If by stock, you mean TW, then there's no 4.2.1. If you mean AOSP (truly not bloated at all), it's currently in 4.2.2. So I'm confused on what you want. I can't comment in TW ROMs, because I strongly prefer AOSP, but if you want AOSP, I'd go with LiquidSmooth personally. SlimROM is also great, as is Paranoid Android.

Because of the question. The fact is that while we can recommend you a ROM we can't guarantee that you will get the same experience that we did. Which is why moderators encourage us to try the ROMs out ourselves.
"Thread closed as "Best" rom for one user is not necessarily the "Best" for another.
Users are encouraged to read and determine what is best for them by reading the knowledge shared via posting.
These threads always spiral into arguments about one rom over another, and thus, trolling ensues.
Please do not post "Best Rom" threads." or even favorite

I never expected any guarantee. As its the General section and it even says 'tips'... I figured asking what people like, currently, would be a good way to look for a ROM so I can read the info and the user feedback in the ROM thread.
Kinda sad users can't get other users opinions for ROMs.
Oh well.

My advice to you for AOSP is to test the ROM based on what you're looking for in a ROM. Also after reading your post since you are not asking for help in choosing a ROM I don't think they close this thread only if you flat out ask us to help you pick a ROM.

Worth to change from stock rom to custom one ?

Hey guys.
What's the gain of using a custom rom over the stock one (Assuming rooted stock rom) ?
I'm kinda lost in all the roms available , so I was wondering if it was really worth it
Cheers

Battery life (if coupled with custom kernel)
Modifications -- some brilliant mods available -- Battery Icons, Themes, Menu settings etc
Cause you can :good:
-------
Using a custom Kernel with Stock Rooted and a few Xposed modules can be the same as a custom ROM most of the time though.. So give that a try first.
I have a lot better speed and battery life using Hyperdrive ROM with Beastmode Kernel. All the Touchwiz stuff (pen, etc.) still works, so yeah. Custom ROM > Samsung Bloatware.
I get between 11-14 hours with REALLY heavy use and full screen brightness and overclocked.

I have been trying custom ROM's and Kernels for many years..... I'm yet to find one that's worth the hassle.
Just disable the stock apps/bloatware you don't use and you'll get better { performance/battery life } than any custom ROM.
The only reason to use a custom ROM (IMO) would be for additional (required) functionality like additional fie system support etc.
I have personally had absolutely no good reason for the use of a custom Rom in years !.
I also don't feel like using custom rom over stock, I did many experiments with note one but with note 3 I would stay with stock rom.
Bloat wares are not bothering me, battery life is also decent so in my opinion leaving some extra utilities stock is better
Depends on which custom rom you choose. Some rom are good, nice and stable but others don't.
Sometimes I use custom rom because I wanna remove useless apps installed by carriers. If you find it not a issue, keep the stock one.
So if your phone is rooted then u don't really need custom rom isn't it well correct me if I'm wrong as I'm new to that android thing lol

It's not a matter of "need" Hyperdrive has given me better battery life (even after freezing all the bloat) and has a lot of customization. You can do most of it through Xposed, but all the really valuable things are in it already. I never found one I thought was worth it until hyperdrive.
Try one of the ROMs that look interesting, if you like it keep using it. If not, that's what nandroid backups are for.

If u know how to tweaks it urself, do modification to what u need, no custom rom is needed once u r rooted. Basically, once u r rooted u can do all system changes, IF u know how to.
But, assuming u r new, based on ur post, just grab any custom tom u like nd try.

Yet The Best CustomROM for Nexus 5 ?

Hi,
My N5 is running on Android Lollipop 5.1.0 (LMY47I), (Rooted)
I know choosing a custom rom differs from one person to another, but I would like to know which custom rom you recommend to me (Based on your exp). and Which CustomROM I can consider Switching to. More likely I'm looking for a CustomROM with Stock ROM Experience + Addition features (Circular battery, Performance, Better Battery life, etc..)
Hope your replies might also help other who has thoughts to switch to CustomROM !
Thanks in advance !

Well, it may not be helpful or expected, but it's honest. You're best bet is to scroll through the development section and choose one at random. You say you're looking for stock with extras, but ever rom out can fit that criteria....
If you're looking for a rom based off the stock google factory image, then I'd suggest Cataclysm Rom from the Original Dev section. It might be just what you're looking for because the Dev takes the stock google image and adds his own twist to it.
3 people=3 suggestions
Billion people=billion suggestions
Based on your expectation I would say Cataclysm+elementalx is good choice. But the best solution is download>flash>experience
Thanks for sharing valuable suggestions, now I can save some time by short listing custom rom's based on ya ppl suggestions

Cataclysm hands down......
Euphoria and Chorma is the one I always use in all the time. Euphoria will more features compare to Chorma but both also awesome ROM I used before and also with CodeBlue kernel performance smooth and battery soso.
