[Q] Oneplus, Instagram, & AOSP ??? [Solved] - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So if anyone using Instagram and having issues with the picture after cropping and pre-posting where the entire image is black, I'd like to sincerely thank zephiK for pointing out the workaround!! The workaround is simple and as follows..
Open Instagram and click on your profile tab and hit the menu button, under camera turn off the bottom option of the two that says "high-quality image processing" try and sample a shot on Instagram and see if the pic appears to be normal.. Voila!!! Again thanks to zephiK for pointing this out to me and was good to hear I wasn't alone..
Anyone else still having issues after trying this quick and easy workaround please post back here and lets us know.
Thanks XDA!!

Toggle as in turn it off and on? Or change from where it is to something else back or change it and leave it? Thanks for the quick reply, and good to know I'm not the only one lol....
I'm glad it's something stupid lol cuz other than that I have zero issues...

Which one is it on right now? If its unchecked, check it. If its checked, uncheck it.
I don't use Instagram, I do have the app and its checked and I can take a picture and it shows it just fine. I have read this problem in another thread and thats what they suggested and it worked.

Real quick question regarding at the moment all AOSP ROMs and Instagram.. Is anyone having an issue where when taking a pic the picture is captured ok, you can crop it and add effects but when going to actually post the picture where you add description and location the picture is just all black??
I use Instagram very very frequently for work and as well for my kids and family...
If anyone else experiencing the issue please post back and or if any work arounds available please give me a heads up...
Thanks XDA!!

I experience this too. I thought it was the app itself and that a fix is coming.
Turns out I'm not alone

Hey thanks for the workaround!
But anyone knows why is it like that? and the reason behind the workaround? I just like to know the reason

Captivate camera

Howcome captivate camera when you take a picture doesn't do a preview? Like other phones. How can you tell how the picture turn out? If there is no preview.
Check the options menu. There's a config option called 'Review'. Turn that on to see previews.

A search would have led you to my thread on this. For some stupid reason, the ability to turn off geotagging was eliminated on the OEM Froyo ROM. There is a replacement camera apk that gives you this feature back, but you lose the ability to save photos to the sd card. Most custom ROMs still have the geotagging switch.
Can't you just toggle off your gps? Mine doesn't record the location if I switch it off.

I purchased Vignette as well. Pretty neat app (much more options than the stock app). However I probably will never use the filters (although they can be applied post as well).
And I wish that it would follow the folder set out in the stock app so I don't have multiple locations for photos that show up in my gallery. I'd like them all in the external_sd/DCIM folder, but it's a minor convenience. Well worth the money.
I don't mind the photos being location tagged, I never have my gps on

Silly us for being aware of the very real dangers of geotagging.
Mine geotagged without GPS. I guess it used wireless network? But it was scarily accurate...

You need to turn both Wireless and GPS location services off for the geotagging to be disabled with the stock 2.2 camera.
I know people that fish lakes or do other kind of hunting don't always want geotagging automatically added the the pic file. Got to keep those hidden lake and ponds safe. From others finding them when you upload your pics to fish or hunting forums. I do like having the option in those cases also though so I just make sure to change the pic so the exit file is not there before uploading them.
But like others said just turn off GPS and wifi and you will be safe from your wife finding where your girlfriend lives.haha

Im going to add a question in here,
is there any way to get the stock app to do profile pics, and are there any apps that do profiles shots

Gallery glitch

So after i take a screenshot and i enter it through notification window it doesnt have the option to share.. Although when i enter from gallery it does have share option.. Am i missing something?
This is normal in Android. Look at it as quick view without extra options.

If the Camera App doesn't have that option under Settings and your phone is rooted, you can disable it using a
root explorer App and navigate to: system/media/audio/ui
and rename the file "camera_click.ogg" to whatever you want.
This isn't really a solid solution to your problem (could be a hassle to you), but if you put your phone on silent or vibrate you will not hear the shutter sound go off! This works for me as because my phone is always in vibrate mode from the moment I wake up, however like i said not a solid solution if you don't prefer silent or vibrate mode.
Just mute your ringer. It works, at least in EU version.

The option doesn’t exist in the settings. Muting the phone before every time I use the camera is too much of a nuisance since I keep the sound on for other apps.
So, since my phone is rooted, your option of renaming the sound file is the best one for me. Tried it and it worked perfectly.
Thank you!

The option in settings is a custom ROM feature that some ROMs have. Keep in mind that removing the .ogg won't disable the sound for the HDR+ mode in Google Camera, as its embedded into the apk. You could use a Tasker profile to mute it when your camera app is open, too.

I purchased Tasker long ago, just to support the author, but to my shame I have not yet learned how to use it...... ?
That would indeed be a good use for Tasker. Maybe I will find a ready made profile (if that's what they are called) that someone else donated.
Thanks for the suggestion.

OK here you go man. Let me know if you have any issues. I did test it. If you have notification sound issues while this profile is active (only while in camera app) let me know. I'll find a workaround.
Make sure you remove the .XML extension (leave the .prl). Move to SDCARD/Tasker/Autoimport. Relaunch Tasker.

Default Gallery App Change

Hi
Seems like Google Photo's is hard coded to be the default picture viewer.
If you install something else you are not prompted to choose the new default as you would expect.
Disabling google photo's and trying to force new default doesn't work either.
Perhaps with future ROM?
Anything anyone achieved without root etc. till now? Thanks.
Reorienting back and recent keys seems like a no go either, what do people do to get round that?
Thanks for any tips already.

Tryna different camera. Counterintuitive? Maybe. Probably. Definitely. But you will get the option that you want.
But this has ALWAYS been the case with HTC. I have installed the HTC camera app on other phones, and it was imperative to have the HTC Gallery app to be able to review the photos after they are taken. I know that it's a different gallery app that we are taking about, but I think have the Camera App is the real issue here. The app defines the default photos app.
I may be wrong, but that's something that I discovered a while back.

You could use a custom rom like leedroid, there you can define your favorite app for pictures and it will launch from the camera.
And you can use custom roms without root.

Sure I know about that, it was just a hint to the right direction.
There are some very good guides for it.

install htc album from apk mirror, then disable the google photos app. It should default to htc album then.
It should but it doesn't, and I don't know why... When I disable google photos and install htc gallery nothing hapens when I try to open photos from camera.
Any fix for this yet?
Would love to see a fix too!
I got around all the little issues with Photos by disabling that app.
Then got "QuickPic" from Google Play and made it Gallery app in it's settings.
Aggravation instantly gone. Works fine without giving an argument about everything.

on our rom you can pick any gallery app as preview album in the camera app.
I've tried many apps as I've never really used Google photos before and had no luck with any. But I've started to like it now. Especially since they added opening straight to albums in the settings.

(Photo Gallery Issue) Photo Preview After Taking Pic

Hi All...
After taking a photo you should be able to tap the pic preview next to the capture button, but when I tap the preview it directs me to another picture that's in my gallery....not the pic I just took. No matter how many pics I take, it always redirects me to the same pic I took months ago....not the pic I just took.
I hope my explanation is good enough to understand and maybe someone could help me out. This is so frustrating because after taking a pic, I have to go back to my gallery to make sure it looks good enough before trying to take another pic.
Please help and I will hit your thanks button for days.....
