[Petition] Android Kit Kat MIUI 6 for Xiaomi Mi2/S - General Topics

Hello everybody.
We know that we will never know how long a smartphone company will keep our phones updated, and the choice is so difficult.
Every company firstly think about market, money and leaving smartphones without updates or with updates "killer", so we are forced to buy a new phone.
We know about planned obsolescence.
But mabye we can do something.
We can try to ask.
So now I ask you everybody to help us in a petition, hoping that's useful.
Any sign will be a lot appreciated.
Thank you.
Here's the link to the petition:

But xiaomi say only about mi2/mi2s. Other model i think get update.

Signed, I agree with you guys!
We need drivers update for recent Android releases, Mi2/S still has a powerful hw, Xiaomi must be aware that android base support is important at least as much as MIUI framework development.

Already signed.

Can we have a link to the official, original statement? is it this? --> http://weibo.com/foxtailmiui

You're a power user. Can the Honor 9 keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Honor 9. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
honor8 has healthy development, wish the same goes with honor9
Early days remember it's only few weeks old development will grow over time if you want instant custom ROMs buy a nexus
Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
Just wait for honor to publish source code, then development will start the right way
After source released, then OpenKirin team can work on it.

At the moment custom ROM use stock kernel
I hope the development picks up soon.
Huawei should release source of EMUI 8 asap so we can receive O ROMs early.
It will be really good..will boost up
I'm the owner of a Honor 9 and I hope xda developers help us get the bootloader unlocked again I got this phone too late and I'm still stuck with the bootloader
Same here, is there any other options, to unlock it?

Only with 3rd party, paid service: dcc unlocker. Search for guides in xda.
If you're looking for a development-friendly phone, Honor is not the solution for you. We do have a program where we give out bootloader unlock codes to a select number of people every once in a while, but there is no official support for unlocking your bootloader. This results is a very small development community.
I think everyone can agree that huawei shenanigans has ruined the development for this phone, like locked bootloader, them changing the xloader stuff so it bricks your phone when you downgrade... I just hope for the best on honor 9 development community and other development for new huawei devices, and maybe someday we'll find an exploit to these devices or the 0.00001% chance that we get a mercy from huawei and they finally give us an update on the firmware where they finally remove the bootloader lock. I'll be waiting until that day.

Nowhere to be seen.
Let's hope it's not fake...
This is not at all fake. This is true. See the last 5 digits of Build Number - 8.4.9 - The naming convention followed by xiaomi (Last letter of year, followed by month, followed by date)
And see the kernel built server. It is built by mi server.
See the kernel version it's 71 and not 102 (which most custom ROMs uses) or something which shows it's completely stock and from xiaomi
This might not have been released to the public beta. The testing might happen inside the xiaomi team where this pic got leaked somehow.
But I'm almost 99% sure, this is make by Xiaomi. Now my question is when will we get it? By the end of May at least? Fingers crossed..! Good to see Xiaomi keeps improving software rather than just giving monthly security updates for Mi A1.
And have Project Treble in this 8.1 beta?

Yeah, 3.18.71 is the latest version on 8.1 CAF kernel tags, so we can be pretty sure that it isn't fake.

Yeah. Thinking the same. Would love to see stock 8.1.0 on tissot. Would be even better if it brings treble support. :fingers-crossed:

You just thought of it, so everyone can as well. The build number it's super easy to fake. Becuase it's super hard to just type the month day and year, right?

and why in that ss is used old baseband?? Xiaomi decided to revert baseband on oreo 8.1??
Baseband of gennuary/febbruary was: ta.2.3....
New baseband is: 953_gen....
For me it is fake, and anyway need a screen of OTA update when it is downloading. SS of system info means nothing.
I really think that we'll recieve Android 8.1 at the end of this month, but the second thing that makes me doubt about originality of this screenshot is that I have never seen Xiaomi provide latest android security patch level with vendor/kernel specific patches, I mean it's always been like 01/04/2018, not 05/04/2018.

I don't think so. What's the point of doing it? We don't even know who did this. So I think this is real.
Cant Trust Xiaomi
From past experience we cannot really say that this is legit. My be xiaomi are focusing more on MIIU running devices than their only stock android device and i doubt they will even make another successor of Mi a1. Their poll in twitter might have hurt their ego and might be taking sort of revenge on Android One device (No judgement Just a Thought)

If xiaomi is smart enough, they'd definitely don't want to loose the customers who love stock ROM. There are a lot of people who love xiaomi for it's great value for money hardware spec and stock ROM experience. And xiaomi knows it very well. If xiaomi is smart enough, it'll update Mi A1 to 8.1.0 and will keep introducing new phones in the A1 lineup. That's what the most they can do to get both MIUI and Stock ROM lovers towards them.

I personally believe it's fake. I had 8.1 on my Nexus 5X before I switched to Mi A1, and 8.1 did bring back the traffic indicator arrows inside the icons, and the signal icons are slightly rounded at the edges. The picture is not very good quality, but they don't seem to have that rounded aspect on that screenshot.
Doesn't mean I don't believe we'll get 8.1, but this screenshot, I think it's fake.

Released Source Honor 10

Thats quick from Huawei/Honor to be honest.
Models : COL-AL00-AL10-TL00-TL10-L29 (direct link)
Otherwise take a look over here
for more devices as well
Good luck Devs
:victory:
This means roms are coming? ?
Well since the source is released for sure we can make something out of it. At the moment im focused on making Huawei P9 EU rom cause although the chinese version has an oreo, rebranding doesnt let our devices to connect in any network. So yeah bare with me and ill start working with customized emui based firmware or a GSI aosp that you will still have advantages from emui like AI, Camera etc etc.

I dont think that any member from XDA doesnt have bootloader code so far. The problem will be in the future but again if someone wants to unlock bootloader, there will be a way to do so even if that means we have to pay a bit. For the average joe its better to be locked so we will not end up solving issues from noobs begging with posts like "please help me unbrick my device".
That means volte in custom rom? Sweet!!

Except I don't wan't to use a new OS, I want to use Android.
That was part of the decision making process I went through deciding on the phone I would get.

Yes if Google blocks updates Huawei should let us unlock the bootloader so we can install our own ROMs with latest android versions.
to be honest, this is just what trump is doing to get the deal, it will all be over soon, and we will be back with google and again will be waiting 2-3 months for google security updates!!

Android 10 update

I was wondering when we will get the Android 10 update
Wondering the same .....
Probably not for a while, since I am not aware of any rumors of betas, even closed ones.
No respectable company should be pushing out a new product with a two year old OS, but here we are...
I like MIUI though, very Apple-like and the Mi Note is the first Android I am using without a third party launcher.
The update is on the way in February. (CC9 Pro China Developer ROM)

Hope you are right....
its release in china as beta maybe after one month or less
Most likely delayed because of coronavirus....
Got security update yesterday and miui 11.0.8.0 but still no Android 10....
Xiaomi is a joke. Second update in a row just for the security update. They will lose a lot of customers if they continue like this
