Don't even buy it bro! The battery is a shame !
1860 i thought !
Anyway it's below 2000mHa and that's too bad for the big hardware inside
It's worth €249,99 not more than that

To be fair, we haven't had any reviews or battery life tests yet. 1860mAh does seem small, particularly for a screen of that size/resolution, but the big.LITTLE octa-core processor can run frugally on its A7 cores when the power of its A15 cores isn't needed. I doubt it'll have the stamina of the S5 or Note 3, but I also doubt Samsung would make a "premium" device with poor battery life.

Yup agreed as samsung learned much from its competitor, good battery should be a perfect weapon. As now i use 4.3inch screen, maybe 4,7 inch was the best choices. And ALPHA would be my next devices
OrdinaryNoob

I think Galaxy Alpha is really beautiful, but the battery size bothers me. It seems too small to a "premium phone". Also, Samsung takes time to send updates to their devices. And I really think that they will release a "mini" version.

Battery, seems whole post doubted its capacity..as currently i use s2vep which has 1650 battery capacity its still ok, i'm not gammers anyway..we need one who has already bought & own this devices and give us some fair reviews..

The Alpha screen has 2.4x more pixels than your S2 Plus and it's bigger, and the screen is the biggest drainer of battery juice. But like I said, we'll need to wait and see some reviews before we can make any real conclusions.

True, screen size is battery drain issue

Do they use newer screen tech??should much improvements inside, I guess
OrdinaryNoob

I received mine today and so far so good will monitor battery tomorrow and post back how I find it. Screen so far seems good coming from s4.

Yea you lucky one...gimme some screenshot, reviews and anythings #objectively

Looks awesome but I can see the guy struggling with reach so I think it will be huge and unfortunately too big for my taste. However, just the specs we're hearing will probably twist my arm.
holy **** anyone see new rumors specs now
exynos 1.5ghz, 4.65 1280x720 super amoled plus
powerVR sgx543 32gb storage
i wasn't wasn't impressed when they mentioned slcd and qualcomm but now OMG this thing is goingto be a beast hope the rumors are true
This is the second time we've seen this similar interface (first was the guy that bought the Nexus S off eBay with ICS on it). I am thinking this is probably legit.

I don't think anyone ever said SLCD, unless they were talking about the European version. Same as Nexus S.

Awesome specs but too big of a phone... I rather not wear hammer pants just to be able to fit this phone in my pocket. Very disappointed with how big they went.... I just knew Samsung would f*** this up considering they're the one who made the Samsung Galaxy Note.... just ridiculous.

i think that's bare minimum screen size to fit such a high res before things become too small
i thought too big also but might not be that bad.
Plus the added more curvature to the phone i think this time the screen actually has curve to it
sucks for me im broke and no job ATM
wonder what this best is going to cost

I bet.... probably only way to have such a resolution but i'm still disappointed with how big the screen is.... I haven't met a person with a phone bigger than 4,3. Like i said just kind of disappointed.... =/ it's like waiting for Christmas hoping that you would get a new gaming console or game and later finding out all you got was a sweater... lol just me, BUT i'll keep an open mind and hope the sweater is a really good one.

I guess... but with only a 1,750mAh battery, can it really withstand that screen size alongside the display? and actually be able to go a full day with it? I'm like 80% sure i'll be sticking with my Nexus S and hopefully it's single core processor can withstand ICS.
If you think phone is too big don't blame Samsung, blame Google.

exactly! they did away with the 'physical' softkey buttons, and used that space up for the screen. So, the overall phone size in our hands shouldnt be too much bigger than our NexS...
i'm drooling already
it really awkwardly looks allot like a nexus s. and he doesnt show the back and sides of the device.
so im thinking.BS!
its a nexus S with a ICS rom on it or custom rom.
even though. i want it! it looks damn nice!
Love it. Really looking forward to Google rolling ICS out to the Nexus S (given that I probably won't be picking up the Prime for quite some time).
Looks a lot better then ICS on nexus S last time.
Yeah those custom roms are amazing nowadays. They can actually move the front facing camera now ....
i hope it's not exclusive to verizon. i could never afford verizon or att.

replacing my gs2 for one s

so i live in saudia arabia sadly ( i amnot a saudi ) any way since its part of asia the only one s version we have here is s3 version but today luckily i found a guy who has the s4 edition and its in a very good condition and willing to sell it for a decent price so i just wanted to ask a couple of questions before i do the transition
1- any one who used both devices can he tell me exactly what i will be missing
2- my main 2 problems with the s2 is over heating and poor batttery life espcially with web browsing how are these going for the htc one s
3-how is updates and on my s2 i got a jelly bean official leak does the s2 have any type of official jelly bean
4-so i once owned an htc sensation xe and i had many problems rooting and putting any custom roms due to something called s off and hboot when iam buying my one s should i check for version of these or any thing alike
5-since there is no sd card how much exactly i do have as my storage in my gs2 i have 11 gigs
any one wants to note something please note it
get a galaxy S3 forget the One S, the one S is a great phone but HTC are useless and we are still waiting for Jelly Bean.

Don't listen to him. The One S is a great device, there is nothing wrong with the current software the phone has, so HTC being "slow" to release a update is a terrible excuse not to buy a phone.
We have a Jelly Bean rom that came from the One S se, and we'll probably be seeing JellyBean within a month.. or two..
Check to see what Hboot version it is. Hold Power + Vol Down and it should tell you in the bootloader. 1.09 and lower are preferred. With anything higher you'll need to fastboot any boot.img's.
I have about 10Gb of Available space.
My One S doesn't overheat, it does get warm though. And it feels pretty warm because it's Aluminum, it also gets extremely cold if you leave it in a cold room.
Battery life is pretty good, I get from anywhere from 3-5 hours of screen on time. Easily lasts all day.
Agreed. This is a great phone. The only issue being HTC slacking behind but that's not a big deal. The only unfortunate thing is that development in the dev section will be limited as the Ville C2 is not so popular / desired.

I actually traded my international S3 down to a HTC One S (t-mobile) and i am very happy. S3 is a powerful phone, and it has pretty good battery life despite the battery hunger big screen and quad core. Not to mention the removable battery and microsd are also a big plus. However, the phone is a bit too big for me and i am not a big fan of touchwitz. S3 has this new innovative features called "Motion" and the new "Premium Suite" which i find very gimmicky. After the novelty wears off, I don't find the new features that useful and slowly turn all of them off as i don't use them much. On the contrary, I find HTC One S has the perfect screen size, built quality is very good as i like the aluminium back very much, and Sense UI is way more better than Touchwitz in my own opinion. Sense integrates with google task and calendar way better and the widgets are very beautiful and useful. The only big down size of the HTC One S is the screen quality and the small battery (1650 mah vs 2100mah on S3). HTC One S's screen has very low ppi compared to the S3, and unfortunately i can actually tell by my naked eyes! If HTC incorporate sony xperia S' screen on the HTC One S, that would be the perfect phone for me. As to the smaller battery, it is not that big of a deal since it can still last a day without much problem. Hope my short review is helpful and please excuse my poor grammar.
Just because the battery is smaller doesn't mean that it will have worse battery life, there is a lot more to battery life than just what size of a battery is being used, screen power efficiency, CPU chipset for PE, the type of battery being used and most importantly software optimisation.
The one S has the better battery life (not by much though) as it has a far more power efficient CPU chipset, not as high res. and a smaller screen.
The one XL (same specs as the X except it uses the S4 chipset) also has better battery life than the international GS 3 despite having a smaller battery too.

One S(S4) is much better than your gs2(A9 dual core). System much faster and you got an amazing camera. We already have the official JB today, you got USB-OTG supported in JB.
The sense rom should better than Samsung rom in my opinion. The only downside compared to gs2 is not changeable battery but the battery life on One S(S4) is better.

So what do you guys think about this?

http://www.sammobile.com/2013/04/13...quality-galaxy-note-iii-to-have-a-new-design/
In all honesty, I think this is why competition is great, because it makes OEM step their game up where they have "weaknesses". It'll be interesting to see how Samsung respond in the future. I like their build quality and design, never bothered me but this could be a good thing.

Yeah they can stay with plastic no problem, just make it more solid like the lumia or One X and change the design maybe? ( but definitely keep the home button and both capacitive buttons )
i think this joke made by Sammobile ( specially their insider :laugh: )
LOOOL Samsung worried
and i don't want aluminum phone , i think Samsung just need to stop using hyper glaze on the back cover
i really like the feel of back cover of my GS2 and Gnex :good:
IMO N3 will look like Galaxy Mega ( bigger GS4) with S-pen + Note features with 6 inch screen
I hope Samsung doesn't give up on the replaceable battery and microSD slot. The fact is that most people put their expensive phones inside covers so the original design doesn't matter much. It's the kind of thing reviewers make a lot of noise about but most customers don't really care that much.
yeah, "worried" is definitely inaccurate, they are far from worried but let's all keep it real here and not be too one sided. The One has an incredible design and great choice of material ( I won't give it credit for build quality cause they always have QC issues), apparently most people like that. So imagine if Samsung can ( and they certainly can) make the next flagship with a whole new design, choose a strong kind of material, I think it'll be game over for everyone else. We here all like the plastic but many don't, so Samsung will make everyone happy by changing things a little.

"Galaxy Mega." Someone listened to the Engadget Mobile podcast.
I have plumped for the HTC One, coming from the Galaxy S2 due to 2 year contracts, and never cared for what others call "premium" builds.
Having owned the HTC One for a few days now I have to say that having a phone made from more "expensive feeling" materials is by no means a bad thing.
It can only be a good thing if Samsung start putting a bit more effort into handset design. We all know that Samsung usually have the better specs. It really can't hurt to back this up with better design.

Yes, they should definitely change the design. Last year most people were like: "look at that ugly sgs3"... but after a while, the people get used to it. But thtat doesnt mean samsung designs are nice. They are not in my eyes.
The One X was a really cute smartphone made of polycarbonat. It still feels 10000 times better then the glossy plastic s3 (and probably s4). If they use that kind of plastic, it would be a big step forward in look and feel. But i doubt they will do. It will be for sure more expensiv.
What does design have to do with build quality? People get the two confused, Samsung have the best build quality these days. People always say HTC One has the best build quality......... like no I've exchanged it 3 times, all have sucked and I decided to get a GS4 instead and luckily the Network allowed me to do so. 100% certified, correct. To quote my own signature, "don't mistake build materials for build quality". From multiple accounts, the HTC One build quality is poor.
I will bet that the Galaxy S4 build quality will exceed the HTC One's build quality. Argue materials all you would like, but it's time for reviewers, forum members, and the general public to learn the English language. Materials, by definition, is not quality.
I dunno, I like the build just fine but maybe they could use matte polycarbonate like Lumia or HOX. I prefer those over the hyperglaze.

BREAKING: Samsung ditches own AMOLED and EXYNOS inside new Galaxy S IV
Posted by DannyD on 23 February 2013 at 10:01
Yes you just read the title of this message right. Our insider just gave us the first official “unconfirmed” specifications of the next generation Galaxy S, the Galaxy S IV. The Galaxy S IV will no longer use the Samsung EXYNOS processor and according to the latest rumours this processor has overheating issues. Today we can confirm Samsung will use the Snapdragon 600 and it is clocked at 1.9 Ghz which is 0.2 Ghz higher than the HTC One. The Galaxy S IV will have 2 GB of RAM and will come in three variants 16, 32 or 64 GB. As the rumours earlier reported Samsung is going to use a Full HD display. The Galaxy S IV uses a 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display we have no information if this is based on LCD3 like the HTC One. But a couple of months ago we posted the first hint regarding Samsung’s LCD factory is ready to produce Full HD panels from early 2013. And we also know Samsung’s AMOLED factory does have many problems with the production of full HD AMOLED screens.

**All S4 owners please read this**

Hi guys,
So I did some testing on batteries for the S3 and it seemed to get positive feedback from fellow XDA members. I was wondering how many people would be interested in the testings for the S4. I buy most of the batteries myself (which costs a lot of money and I am not asking for donations). I just want to help as many S4 owners on buying the right battery. If you would like me to do similar tests please reply in this thread. If it gets enough replies I'll begin buying the batteries asap and start posting results one by one in a new thread(hopefully it'll get stickied).
Thanks in advance

It would be great if there was just one place where you could find all the stats. There are so many batteries out there. And sure people write reviews about them already. But all those tests where under different circumstances and not at all comparable.
So yes I would really like it when there was just one thread that ruled them all...

PS: Please make a standard test routine.
For example, 3 hours of pure standby time, 1 hour of heavy gaming, 1 hour watching video, and some other stuff.
Also be sure to calibrate your battery right and let it settle for a day before every test. And last but not least, keep everything the same, no switching ROM, no switching kernel, network mode and Wifi both on. Be consistent...

Tester
I am willing to test anything. I have been a tester for a few prototype cases (some sucked Ballz) LOL. But, I love aftermarket batteries and would be able to give it a fair shake!
Would love to help out
Count me in for testing. New S4 owner, but experienced geek.

Hi guys,
So I did some testing on batteries for the S3 and it seemed to get positive feedback from fellow XDA members.

The S4 tests will be similar in fashion.

I think it would be great if it's not too much trouble to go through. Having a guide to ascertain the best battery for my needs would be very helpful.
I actually wish there were a lightweight, smaller capacity battery for everyday use, since I'm rarely in a situation where I don't have charging access. I haven't put them on a scale, but in the hand the battery weighs almost as much as the whole phone! A battery with roughly half the capacity would probably knock half an ounce or so off the overall weight. Probably wishful thinking on my part.

Lol I hate how light this phone is without a case I feel like I'm going to snap it in half.

Hehe. Different strokes for different folks! The relatively light weight of the S4 was a key selling point to me, and also a reason I don't use a case. But for people like you, you can always add a case, bigger capacity battery, etc., but there's really no way to make it lighter. Maybe a helium tank!

Yeah lol people have said their S3 battery works for the s4 although I'm not sure how much a few hundred mah really makes a difference in wait. If you're really serious you take the back cover off and use a piece of electrical tape to hold the battery in.

Lol exactly what I was thinking but I did this on my old G2X when the tabs on my back cover bent/broke. If you have it in a case you'll never notice.
I've just recently purchased Hyperion's 5200mAh battery from Amazon. It will arrive within the next week or so. I can do some extensive testing on that and report my results if anyone would like.
I thought I read somewhere that a Nexus battery would be an upgrade and a same fit? Is this true or are there any other OEM batteries that fit for more capacity? I know there are a couple aftermarket batteries that dont require a back cover but are kind of unreliable from what I'm reading. I remember having the htc sensation and upgrading it to the evo 3d battery, same fit but like 500 more mah.
This would be great, keep up the good work!
I'd like to see a test/review. Been thinking about buying one of the 7600 options that comes with a case.

Is it a good phone?

Ok, so I pretty much just bought myself a Honor 8 but I can still return it as I haven't opened the packaging.
So generally it looked great in the store and everything and I just thought the software was a little weird (Coming from someone who used Touchwiz and Cyanogenmod before)
When I tried the Camera in the store it was looking great! And honestly I just want you to tell me a little bit about your own experience with the phone.
I got the phone for like 30% of normal price which means I got it for ~325$ so I got it really cheap!
So what about your own experience with the phone? Is it any good? (Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini)
And also what about size?

Why don't you read all the threads that are available... tons of people's opinion located throughout this forum

I came from a Galaxy S7 Snapdragon 820 variant and I have to say that overall the Honor 8 is a much better phone. Despite being an iOS-esque skin the OS runs very smooth for me and battery life is pretty good. It has a lot of practical features that don't really overwhelm the user in my opinion. Although it's CPU/GPU are technically slower than the S7's, it still has an admirable amount of performance to it. I love the dual camera, even though some may say it isn't the best. The only major thing I can think of that is wrong with this phone is that it has a poor speaker, but I typically use headphones or Bluetooth anyways.
You also can't deny that it is a beautiful crafted phone on the exterior. I love the rear glass. My only recommendation is get a clear case lol.
I agree the poll is kinda useless....you either like it or not. It all depends on personal preference

Well still it is a LCD which means that black won't really be black and really I can't use battery saving apps such as PixOff (Which makes some Pixels black)
Thinking of returning the phone
OK so return it, you should've done your own research before purchasing the phone...another useless thread

I'm not much of a fan of AMOLED. The colors seem over saturated in my opinion and it's already been shown that AMOLED doesn't affect battery life all that significantly. Despite not having AMOLED, this phone does get pretty good battery life from the 3000 mah.

Well, for sub $400 this phone is a beast for what you get. But if you really want Amoled that badly then I guess return it lol. Just keep in mind that every phone has a trade off on something.

Yeah, I wish it had amoled as I have a galaxy s3.
On the bright side, it outperforms the s7 in speed.

Not to mention the Kirin 950 is much more efficient than the Snapdragon and Exynos.

Yes, because of it's effeciency sometimes I get 7-8h SOT which is amazing
If you like amoled so much you can stick to samsung phones...S7 is around 500-550 euros now even cheaper with data plans...
Ok, Nevermind I have decided to try it out anyways
i simply love this phone!

You won't be disappointed
I honestly don't understand why I thought it would be bad (Probably because I'm not used to Huawei phones in general) but so far it has been super responsive and handles everything I throw at it, the camera is very good in good light (compared to my old phone) but in darker images it is a little bit grainy
But still I love this phone, getting a case in a few days
