It is not a nice, enjoyable experience. The design is just outdated. Making a good app is not all. The second part is a good UI, pay attention to details, then the users will be more into using it. Take a look at HRS Hotel Search app. Their app was so badly designed (Gingerbread UI elements, wrong spacing, etc.) that they had to redesign it and after they have done that, they had to start over, with new app package name, new design (finally Holo, looks gorgeous) because of the bad ratings at Play Store. There is an official Android App Design community at Google+ that you may want to check out, with Roman Nurik (Muzei, DashClock) being the one of the moderators
If other developers would make app designs still based on Gingerbread, completely ignoring design guidelines, there would in the future be no material design, uncomplete Android L (because of those outdated apps) and Android platform would loose on popularity (no high-end games, cool apps, etc., you get the idea...).
However, from the screenshots it looks like if you just swap Theme.Light for Theme.Holo.Light.DarkActionBar, for example, and then spent just a few hours making your app look against the design guidelines, trust me, it would be at a totally different level. Good luck

Thanks a lot for your advices! Actually I'm going to redesign the app in the future, and now I think that I have to do it ASAP
Anyway, application is very helpful if you like to travel, and emphasis was made for functionality. I hope you will enjoy it anyway even with current design.

May be someone has idea about functionality of this app? Is everything suitable for you?

Thanks baks for the feedback.
I have just pushed an update to the store which allows DealPad to run on Android 2.2+. This now allows approximately 95% of active Android devices to access the application.
To celebrate this release the Ad-Free version has been reduced to just 50pence.
As always I look forward to hearing feedback from you guys.
Amazing app, definitely the best “HotUkDeals” app on the market. However, I have a suggestion, would it be possible to add a slide function to move between panels?
Sorry just noticed your comment now. I have considered the slide between tabs. The reason it is not implemented currently is that when a tab is switched the deals are downloaded. So adding the slide to switch tabs doesn't feel right.
I will keep it on the to do list and see if I can cache some deals to make it feel more natural and fluid.
Let me know if you have any more requests/comments.
Ahh its fine. Could you not make the slide feature like the YouTube app? The page itself doesn’t actually freeze, so you still have the ability to slide/press a tab even though it’s loading. Caching the deals would be a good idea though, definitely more efficient.
By the way, I have also noticed the settings page doesn’t actually have a header?
By the way, have you thought about adding the ability to switch between holo light and holo dark themes. Just a thought

Yeah the way youtube implement it is nice. Sadly the way the deals are stored at the moment means I can't do that without changing the data structure which will be a bit of work.
Regarding themes, I am personally not a fan of holo dark but I have had a few requests so I can look into it. Unsure about black and orange though

Yeah I understand what you mean, hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to implement though as a slide function would be great. It would definitely make it easier to switch tabs on tablets.
The black and orange theme wouldn't be too bad in my opinion, not greatly important, but nice as an option.

Just pushed a small updated which allows tablet users to open deals in their main browser by default.

[APP CONCEPT] Facebook Holo/Google-style app design concept

Holo Facebook app concept
The Facebook's app new flat UI is quite nice but it's still far off the Holo design. This is why I designed this concept of what I always wanted the Facebook app to look like. It is basically the current Facebook flat UI with parts based on the latest update of the Google Newsstand app. The first photo shows the phone version, the rest show the tablet (Nexus 7) version in portrait mode.
I am not a developer so there is no way I will be actually able to make this app, but I decided to share it in case there is a developer who could! If so make sure to contact me.

I would add a translucent status bar except I am against the use of it in certain apps, it makes the top of the app look strangely long and it makes it seem like Android is following everything iOS is doing. I love the translucent bars when it comes to showing pictures (something the stock gallery ironically doesn't do), the home launcher and a few other places where it works really well, however when the app has the huge menu/title bar at the top I think there isn't much purpose to have it translucent as it just shows the colour behind it.

Thank you! and I hope so as well! The current Facebook app layout is a huge improvement over the previous one which simply looked horrid in my opinion, but the current one still could be improved. My idea shows the holo concept, it would make the Facebook app more consistent with the other Android apps and therefore easier/more enjoyable to use.
I think Google should definitely have more control or enforce more of their guidelines for the app designs because what we have right now (especially from 3rd party apps, especially big ones like Facebook) is inconsistent mess really. Google needs to do something about it but honestly they need to do something about their apps first, if you want to know what I mean just open an app like Play Store or Newsstand and look at the layout and icons there and at the icons for search and pop out menu, then open their brand new app of Docs and just look at everything as a whole! The slide out menu is completely different from their other apps, and the icons on the title bar are also different, why change the search icon, the previous one was nice!
I am aware that I am looking at details here, but really these are quite major ones really, if this is the way Google is going with their apps (I mean the style of Docs) then that's fine with me, just please update the other apps to go along with it!
Sorry for the long paragraph but I honestly think they should do something about it, I'm pretty sure there are others who feel the same way as me.
That's an awsome concept, and some awsome design. I'm actually a little bit disappointed that such an app is not available yet.
You may..no..You Definitely should talk to guys at the Holofication Nation. They are Holofying apps for quite some time now.
Oh, and please keep posted about new developments. :fingers-crossed:

Thank you! And I am disappointed too! I'm aware of the holofication nation and they're doing some great work!
The Facebook app is a tricky one since its UI isn't controlled by the app, but by the server (that's what I've heard) therefore can't be themed, which would mean a new app would have to be made.
I wish I could be able to actually make an app like that but since I don't know much about coding (I know quite a bit about theming) I can't really do anything, I can provide a concept at least!
I'm planning to make a Holo concept for the Twitter app as well, it will be similar to this one (I think).
Would anyone like to see a Quantum Paper Facebook app concept?
For those who don't know Quantum Paper is the rumoured new user interface which will be seen in the upcoming version Android (and other platforms), for more information head over to Android Police

First!
But its rather unfortunate that i have to become a beta tester on G+ before i try out your app.
It's cool!!!
Very nice app. Thank you.
I like this calculator very much. It has everything I need but keeps the interface clear.
I like the ability to theme it too. Well done!
Finally after 2 years of searching a nice clear calc with %
:good: Nice app, very clean design. The ability to export the calculations to text/csv would be cool.
I have been looking for calculator for years but have to set on cm calc.
hexdecimal support is needed. most calc supports mode based hex/bin/dec which will not covert the expression/previous result.
Another important thing is to bring the expression from the history back instead of just result.
Have seen those beautiful apps. Really thinking whether I should make one myself.
The Gui is very well designed, well done
I love the UI
Note feature question
It looks really good. But i have questions regarding the sharing to note feature, since it intrigues me the most.
How does it work, exactly? Does it support Evernote? Does it export an image or the calculations? Is it editable (as in i touch it and it reopens in Calc?
I know the last one is farfetched but i gotta ask
Pro version buyed

Fantastic calculator app, I have been looking for something like this for several years since switching to Android Having a calculator with an editable history that doesn't look awful until now has been harder than it should have been till now
One suggestion though, unless it is something the app can already do but I have over looked is to be able to use the result of the previous calculation in something other than the first item on the next line. If you type an operator it automatically takes the result from the last calculation, but I'm not sure how to use the result elsewhere in the calculation, for example x ^ ans or similar.
Thanks!
really nice calculator app, thank you for the development!
Just made this calculator my device calculator. thank you
oh.....Pro again of your app. Have all of your app in now. Keep it up the good work and appreciate your effort.
awesome!
great work used it for a minute and now it's in my must have list. I appreciate to contribute Turkish translation, as it has many irrelevant translations.

Holofication Nation released a holo modfication to the official Steam app on the Play Store. The official Steam app hadn't been
updated in quite a while, and now it's got to the point where it's been three years since the last update of the official application.
Holofication Nation modifies applications so that they follow the most up to date design guidelines for Android, and as per usual, we've done it again.
What is this?
This App is a modification to the official app from Valve on the Play Store. This mod completely changes the user interface from the ugly interface
that is currently in use, to a more pleasing interface known as "Material design". The visuals of this app follow the Android design guidelines as closely as it
possibly can without having to recode the entire app.
As well as this app being a visual update, the app also comes with speed increases, stability and general smoothness all the way throughout the app.
A closer look
The standard app uses images for the text input box, send button and many more features of the app; using images for assets such as this contribute
to slowing down the speed of the app due to there being more files to read from. I have removed the need for many images in this app by moving the assets
from using images to using official Android code (Assets such as chat text input and the send button).
Every single visual asset of this app has been changed and rebuilt using the Android guidelines. The action bar is no longer an ugly bar with diagonal pin stripes
with a gradient overlay, it's now a single colour Android toolbar. The chat bubbles are no longer obnoxious low quality bubbles, they're now high quality boxes
similar to that of the boxes used for Hangouts. All these visual changes and more in the app.
On the official app, scrolling through web pages (such as people's profiles) was painful, scrolling would take forever with a huge noticeable lag on every scroll,
making tasks such as viewing your games list unbearable.

Great design, good job
Recommendation:
- Male more color schemes ( Light blue, red, green, black...)
- Bring back user avatar on the left panel
Firstly good work, you have saved our souls.
Would it be possible to add in extra stuff in the settings that could make the app more 'personal' such as colour changes to the text bubble or the theme etc..
The stuff other users have said

[INDEX][APPs][Material Design]List of Apps with Material Design.

Hey, Welcome to the thread which contains some apps rha have material design.
First i want say that this thread doesn't contain any Google Apps(Gapps).
So Lets go
1.Action Launcher 3 Here
Sure, there’s the Google Now Launcher if you want the Googliest home screen possible, but Action Launcher gives your phone or tablet a Nexus-style look with more customization. There are plenty of icon pack choices and the QuickPage, which is a custom home screen you can get by swiping in from the right edge.

}
2.Cabinet Beta Here
It’s had a long go in beta, but Cabinet is a pretty stable and desirable file manager with a slick, material design look. It uses the floating button well, letting you create a new remote connection, folder, or file.
3.Swift keyboard Here
SwiftKey has gone all-in on with themes, with choices ranging from the minimalist to the ridiculous (Frozen, anyone?). On the material design, front, however, there are two excellent keyboard choices that match the new design of Google’s keyboard but add in more functionality. They’re $0.99 each, but well worth it.
4.Field Trip Here
Field Trip is a clever app for when you’re traveling or just out and about and want to discover more about what’s around you. It will ping you with details about restaurants, sites of historical snippets, or other places that you wouldn’t normally pick up through just a Google search or perusal of Yelp.
5.WEATHER TIMELINE Here
It’s too rare to find a great “Android only” app that shows off the best of the platform. Weather Timeline has done this with its weather application. It also has excellent Android Wear implementation, pushing out weather alerts and putting the forecast on your watch. It’s only $0.99, so grab it and support great development efforts like this.
6.NUMIX CALCULATOR Here
The stock Android calculator does the job, and it too has a new material theme if you’re running Lollipop. But if you want something that looks great and has a few more features then go with Numix Calculator Pro. It saves your calculation’s history and swings in with additional capabilities when you swipe through the keyboard.
[/SIZE]
7.Source News Reader Here
Feedly is still undergoing a material redesign, so while you’re waiting, or if you just want to explore another alternative, check out Source News Reader.
8.LUMIFIC-Pic Gallery Here
Lumific is a beautiful photo gallery application for anyone that isn’t happy with the stock photo gallery app that comes preinstalled on their device. While there are many great features within Lumific, one notable feature is the ability to order photo prints from Lumific through Snapfish by HP. Now you can have any photo taken with your camera printed out to keep and to share. Lumific also takes similar photos and recreates them into GIF images automatically, and it now integrates with Dropbox to sync photos for backup.
9.PLAYER FM PODCAST Here
Podcasts are a great way to consume the content you love if you don’t have the ability to read it, and Player FM Podcast adds in loads of useful features for anyone looking to start listening to podcasts. To start, it’s cloud-based, which means you can listen to it across devices. It’s also equipped for offline playback so you can still listen to stuff even without a data connection. You’ll also never have to worry about not being able to listen to an entire podcast all the way through, since play history will let you resume from where you left off.
10.NOVA LAUNCGER BETA Here
Nova Launcher Betas include new features and fixes before they are released to all users. However they also are not as well tested and may not be as reliable. Betas are best for people who don't mind when things temporarily break a little bit.
11.WHATSAPP (MD)(OFFICIAL)(BETA) Here
If you've been waiting for that special day when messaging app WhatsApp could be updated with the Material Design of Android 5.0, the good news is that day is here. You won't find this update in the Google Play Store yet, no matter how hard you try.
great! thanks
